Xperia X10a Battery Questions

1) How to have best battery life? I currently already
-Turned off Bluetooth and GPS
-Wifi only when I need it
-Using SetCPU with profiles from another thread
-Low brightness
Im guessing that all the apps autostarting uses alot of battery so I always stop them with Task Killer but they just restart. I tried using Auto Task Killer but it doesnt seem to work. Any help?
2) I use like 40% a day so should I charge everyday or wait until its down at a certain level?
EDIT
Also, whats a good video converter to convert videos for the phone? Most that I tried takes forever and my computer is definately not a slow computer.
Stop using a task killer, the OS will handle the apps. If you keep shutting them down they have to keep restarting, that will suck power.
Any data sync will drain your battery if you us it to often, set it to a reasonable time frame.
I leave my screen on auto seems to work well, and you can charge whenever you feel like it no need to wait till it's low.
If you use Rockplayer you shouldn't even have to convert your movies unless they are full HD. It's a great player you should try it out.
Hi, mine goes down at an average of 1% battery per hour at normal use since the firmware update (v23).
I enable wifi only when I'm at home, for the rest I only use Edge/gprs because at my work the 3g signal appears to be too weak and 3G drains the battery really fast.
Bluetooth and gps are off, Google account syncing is on.
I believe that a lot of widgets have a negative effect on the battery life, so it might be a good idea to limit their number.

Ok I found out the major battery drainer via the battery usage in settings. It shows the the Display accounted for 80% of the battery usage. My display brightness is only set at aprx 25% and I have a total of 4 widgets on. Whats the problem?
Regarding the conversion, I am using rockplayer already but I just want to toggle the video settings a bit (mainly resolution) so the file size is smaller.
40% a day is a quite good result. what is your objective for a smartphone with 4-inch diaplay and 1G cpu?

Well 40% is with like 30 min wifi, 1hr gaming, 5 min calling. 3G, GPS, BT all off. But im not out of the new battery draining cycle yet.

More of a wish than an objective but a month would be nice
In the early 80s a 20MB HDD was about the size of 100 X10's and now my X10 has 32GB of storage the size of a postage stamp.
The computing power of an X10 would have filled a 10 story building in 1980.
Where are the big advancements in batteries?
What we need for the X10 is a Hydrogen Fuel Cell

Bottom line is that it's a huge screen and it sucks power.
Try this, turn off "everything" and play a 2 hour movie, doubt you'll get to the end of it.
Since the screen is so large battery life would have been better served by an AMOLED screen rather than TFT.
Gary.. Think this latest firm ware has a bug that shows the display draining battery much more than it really is.. You should ignore that. My display is set to auto. I get a full day from about 50%.

yes, the current battery technology is obviously far behind the development of mobil devices industry. egeryday, we see the faster cpu, better display and os etc. the battery has become a major weakness slowing down the related industries.

proximity sensor increased battery usage

Hello, got new Nexus 4.
I installed tap tap app. witch uses proximity sensor to unlock the phone. The battery usage increases ~17 percent. I think it's quite big.
My friend have older Nexus (samasung galaxy) with that app, and his battery usage of this app is very low..

Battery usage doesn't really tell much. If you run a mp3 all day and don't use your phone it'll show say 95%. It's not an apples to apples comparison given that if he had his screen on for an hour more than you at the same point, his usage would show lower.
Best bet is to just keep a rough track of battery life with and without the app.

It depends on how the hardware is implement, but I suspect in order to constantly read the proximity sensor the application has to keep the phone awake, this means the phone can't "suspend to RAM" and deep sleep in between you using it.
If you check the permissions of "taptap" it has the permission "prevent phone from sleeping", so the above is most likely the reason for battery drain.

Mate ,
That is not enough ...you need an app like BBS , let it run for a few hours and read the logs,,,,,then you will have enough information to find the culprit

See..first check your charger.
1st A duplicate charge charges your phone fake fast and drains it equally fast
2nd calibrate your battery and test the drain rate again
3rd if you have a recovery, boot in recovery-->advanced-->clear battery.stats and check again
4th Turn sync off. Location settings off.
5th check for any background processes that run and which you dont kill..
6th have greenify or juice defender if nothing helps
7th paste a screen shot od settings-->more--->battery and we can see something
Nothing more relating to battery.
Plus please provide enough information so that we can help you out in a better awesome way B)
Sorry if I sound rude bro..No hard feelings..we were like you too
Plus note 2 has a bigger better battery with less features than the s4. Dont compare different phones

Save battery with reduced screen size?

Hi!
Does anybody know, if you can actually save energy and battery by using the reduce screen size feature?
I guess u mean to say by adjusting DPI ? Or resolution ? AFAIK no matter what DPI u use the screen is gonna illuminate the same amount of pixels .. U can get better battery life with regards to screen by two ways
1. Black wallpaper/Black themes
2. "Pixel battery saver" an app which works good on amoled displays .
I personally turn off auto brightness , keep it at 50% and use pixel battery saver . I really have a difference of 30 mins to 1 hr of extra battery . cheers

Are you talking about where you swipe from the middle edge to the middle and back, and the whole screen shrinks down? This does cover a large portion of the screen in black, efficetively turning it off, and might also reduce the resolution being put out by the GPU, so definitely a potential for battery savings. Who wants to keep their screen size reduced for a few days to test?
^ Yep, thats exactly what I mean! Any experiences? Theoretically it should have an positive effect, don't you think?
I didn't notice it myself over a short period of time though, I have to admit.

I think theoretically it should work, as it uses an OLED display and more of the screen would be blacked out.
However I'm not sure if anyone who buys a Note 4 would use this mode long enough for it to gain a advantage out of it.
Still sure it would be nice to see some statistics. ^^
Kind regards, Stefan.
I believe to observe an effect, if I watch a YouTube video in small instead of full size.

Battery drains very quickly

Hi all
I noticed that the battery runs out quickly.
It holds only 12 hours in normal use.
While I was at 48 hours with my Huawei mate 8
Is there a solution to this problem?
I have attached the phone version if it can help.
Wait bro, your firmware version is outdated, latest Lollipop firmware is 2.20.40.184, but yours is still running 2.20.40.90, update your firmware first then compare your battery stats from your previous firmware version.
How long is your SoT(Screen on Time)? Well, on a daily usage my Zenfone 2 lasts for up to 6hrs SoT(with wifi browsing, some gaming, 2g/3g texting including standby for almost 12hrs as well) so i think your experiencing average for this kind of handset.
Also note that you've posted on a wrong section, this thread should be posted on the "Q&A, Help, Troubleshooting section".
This phone generally has **** battery life for majority of people, there are every few people who see any decent battery life (like above). There are no solutions for good battery life for this phone.

I wouldn't recommend somebody (even less a new XDA user) to flash a beta firmware. Only the user itself should decide if he /she really wants to try beta software.

Comparing this phone's battery to a Huawei battery is like comparing a Prius to a Tesla. I can go 3 days on my Huawei Ascend Mate 2 but it's a 4000mAh battery and a Snapdragon chip compared to a 3000mAh battery and an Intel chip. The ZF2 battery will never get better unfortunately
I was getting some serious battery drainage on stock rom - I upgraded to the CM13 ROM with Android 6.0.1 - Set it on Root and installed Greenify + Xposed Framework - Smart Booster - Battery Doctor - Configured them all and keep my brightness on low when in doors and automatic when outside. My battery seems to be holding much better now. I haven't used that Stock rom Beta release of 6.0.1 yet so I'm not sure if that'll help. Good luck!
P.S - I only installed the mini version of GApps.

Disable touch gestures, the ones that let's you double tap to wake it up, I disabled mine and during the night, with wifi on, it only used 1% battery.
Also, disabling LED notifications would help.
To replace the double tap to lock screen I use Greenify's widget, need to find a way to let me wake it up by volume buttons too.
Any other battery saving tips would be great.

But still, that's very good. I probably won't get this low because I have crappy reception at home, but I'll check it anyway.
zenfone 2 is best for performance lag free most of the time .....but battery life sucks.... and about that ferrari and prius thing... my friends sony xperia z series especialy z ultra has awesome battery life it is also quad core processor phone ...it is also a beast phone ...but there stamina mode saves a lot of battery ... 8 to 10 hr SOT is normal for z ultra..... so clearly power managment is very poor for zenfone 2. i am using marshmellow cm 13 .. greenify... .. overnight drop is 3 to 4 %... but as soon as i start using it battery starts to drain quickly..... i have searched whole xda forum.. but everybody is talking about wakelocks, thats fine but during actual use also it is consuming a lot of battery....i am tired of searching
