Tincore Keymapper + Root - M.O.J.O. General

This is pretty cool, thought I'd start a list of games that work great with Tincore Keymapper. It seems you have to have root to get it to work.
So far I've got these games mapped and work great:
Wild Blood
Samurai II: Vengeance THD
GT Racing 2
Great app, adds lots more games to play on the MOJO :good:

I don't see why rooting is required
maybe @tincore knows?

Root is required, because otherwise you can't map touch input buttons to hardware gamepad buttons.
Since not all developers take care of external gamepad support, sometimes, it is necessary to remap touch activity to a hardware key.

Yea, definitely have to root to get the app to work. App is actually very easy to use to create different profiles for different apps. Pretty much any game that has on screen controls can be mapped - as long as you can get through the menus in mouse mode.

Rooting is needed to simulate touches and more. Those are Android limitations.
Another option would be a custom modified firmware.

Awesome. Take into consideration that there is a central server where profiles can be uploaded and downloaded automatically from the app.

I feel idiotic, but I cannot for the life of me get Tincore to work. I've set the buttons to activate the program, but they don't work. It tells me "No device detected" and I have no clue how to get the controller detected.
Suggestions?

Yep.
I've been able to get my PS3 controller to pair through Sixaxis which was pretty cool. I'd forgotten how light the PS3 control is after using the CTRLR for so long.
Anyhow, I followed a few of the videos on YouTube to get myself started. I cannot get the CTRLR to show up as a detected device. Strangely, I was able to set my button combination to get tincore running within the app (so the button presses registered then), but the combination doesn't bring up tincore when I'm in a game. I really like how your app works (from the videos), so I'd appreciate any info or insight on getting it up on the MOJO!
Seriously, though, your app looks pretty awesome. Once I get it working, I'll throw down some cash and buy it.

I haven't had any issues really with tincore. Whenever I started the app, the CTRLR was already loaded in the column - as well as any other devices such as a mouse. All I had to do was put the controller in gamesmart mode to get my buttons out there on screen, then switch back to mouse mode and place each button/control where I wanted them and then went to the column and chose how I wanted the button presses to react. Although, I could never get the app to work within a game. I didn't know how to do that. I would always just load the game, then go back to the homescreen and then back to tincore to make my adjustments.

In the case of devices without touchscreen you can use a key sequence to invoke the mapper on top of the app. Default sequence is Vol- Vol+ Vol- and it should work from the CTRLR.

[Q] will xoom bluetooth keyboard work with iconia tab

Hey people I don't know if anybody has asked this question yet but I'm very curious to know if the motorola xoom keyboard would work for the iconia A500?
it should work just fine, should work with your pc too as well and the playstation 3
Yes, it works.
Thanks for the answers I'm getting it for a really good price so I just wanted to make sure.

The quick launch keys on the top row don't work on the Iconia FYI, that's pretty much the only incompatibility though. Otherwise it works great.

Has anyone been able to set up tincore on the ouya? I was able to get modern combat 4 to work but I'm not able to get the controller to map correctly.

I haven't even figured out how to get the app to come up when I have a game loaded. The 3 button command list seems to need you to have already brought it up once in that app.
If someone can explain how to do that I'd gladly spend some time messing with it.

yeah thats where i'm having my issue
Dev told me I could create a custom command using OUYA buttons, but I couldn't figure it out. He is working really hard on the app and has frequent updates, but no tutorials or help pages. He needs to take a break and show people how to use it a little more clearly. I spent an afternoon working with it and gave up.
I think it would probably work best to do the button mapping on a touch screen device and export it. It will probably still need to be tweaked on OUYA though. I have seen people take interest in the app on other forums only to be frustrated and give up.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I am trying to figure it out too. I want to put games like subway suffers and temple on the Ouya for my daughter. Tried setting up a profile on my galaxy tab, and it works, sometimes. I can get left to go left once, but then the other buttons, like going right or jumping/sliding doesn't work for a few seconds. Makes it very hard to use.
I had to watch a few YouTube videos before figuring out that you have to name the profile first, then hit refresh a few times, then press a button on your controller to make it appear on the screen. After that you can select what you want it to do. Can't figure out how to make it do a store command though.
I tried making a profile for final fantasy iii as well, but once I hit a fiction, it stayed pursuing that direction after I let go. I think maybe I just haven't found the right option yet.
I see it has an update in the play store, so maybe I will try again.

I have spent a few hours :crying: on this and I seem to be having some success. I have found when configuring stick 0 or stick 1 on the ouya controller, I have to check the box that swaps the X and Y axis along with checking the box to invert the x axis. I have attached a profile for minecraft that seems to be working. Feel free to give it a try (remove the .txt extension when importing).
The developer is flying blind developing for OUYA. He doesn't think he'll recoup his cost in sales to OUYA users. I'm at a loss for why anyone would buy the app right now.
Another thing I'm remembering that really aggravated me when trying the app. It took me quite some time to learn that when configuring the controls you have to click the check mark to register every change.
If someone could create a default controller scheme for the sticks and d-pad, and the home, menu, and back buttons it would be great so we all could build on that. If everyone maps those most basic buttons the same, it will make sharing profiles easier. Then there is the matter of enabling keymapper in game.
If this thread starts generating enough interest the dev will probably pop in for a visit. Then perhaps he can code in a shortcut combo for the controller to open the app in game.

The app was free in the play store when I downloaded it. There is an option to support the dev though a donation which unlocks a couple of features, but the free version supports the features I need. I have been able to map games from the play store once I found out how to use the keymapper. The auto load profile is pretty sweet when it works... I may end up with a profile for every non ouya game and launcher that I installed from the play store ((Netfix and WatchESPN). IMHO using any non ouya app with the ouya controller sucks.

The important feature that is, or was, locked in the free version is analog stick support. For whatever reason in games that natively support the analog stick but nothing else ,Tincore overrides that and then you need to pay to enable it within Tincore in order to map the buttons and use the stick. Since I'm primarily interested in driving and racing game support, that makes it a no go for me until I have a clear understanding of how to map the controls and enable it on OUYA without spending a lot of time and doing workarounds.

Do i just load this up in load profile and then go into minecraft and it will work? I don't play minecraft but I'm wondering if it's that easy.
Almost forgot as for the dev saying that he won't be able to recoup his losses I don't get that. I'm all about supporting a dev but if I supported every dev that had a half working app that I would like to play then I'd be broke. If he makes a paid app with instructions and works on some games I'm all about it

As others have said, one of the major difficulties with Tincore on OUYA is that you need to launch it within game. The apps shortcuts are created for phones our tablets.

Launch the app and import the profile. Once it loads you should see the button layout on the screen and the minecore profile name at the top of the tincore options. From there just click the check mark beside the profile name and the app should be sent to the background. If you close the app with the "X" at the top, the tincore app will not be running and your controller will default back to the standard ouya layout. Next open minecraft and use the touch pad to click play and to create a world. Once the game loads up, you use the control sticks to move/look around.
At first I had a USB keyboard connected to the ouya and to launch keymapper when in a game I would use the vol down/vol up/vol down shortcut to bring up the tincore app. After getting a couple of games working and building a profile for Nova Launcher, I went into tincore settings and changed the shortcut to lunch the app from the default vol keys on the keyboard to buttons o/u/y on the ouya controller and I am able to make changes to the tincore app without the keyboard being connected.
It is late and I rambled on long enough... let me know if you get stuck. Once I figured out the basics of the app it has been easy to configure new button layouts.
besides tincore, anyone try using any other touch to gamepad app like gamekeyboard (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fishstix.gameboard&hl=en) and sixaxis? Tincore is a pain to use with the vague instructions & videos. I'd like to know what kind of success people have had mapping touch controls to a gamepad and on what app.
Hi,
It is soo difficult to find threads lost in different forums.
If people gather in one place we could organize a wiki or something.
I would like to know what do you find difficult to understand. Once you understand the pattern it is all the same I think.
To invoke the app without notification you need to set "Open mapper on sequence". It is a sequence of 3 keys (the 3 can be the same).
select -> select -> select for instance because Ouya does not have volume buttons. If you have a spare button you can set execute function and then on Key you select MAPPER.

Here are a few hints I have found... Make sure auto profile is disabled. Also, when you launch the app from the home screen, use the key sequence that is setup to minimize the app (don't click the check mark or the X to minimize tincore. Once you launch another app you should be able to use the key sequence again to bring tincore back up.

It does explain that then as i am in amentioned country and it's got to be blocked by the isps for navi-x

[ROOT] Full WORKING Settings Access for Keyboard, IME and Bluetooth changes.

Thanks to @mastafunk for finding out the KFTV App was causing the blockage on having full settings access to change keyboards.
Now we can change our keyboards, IME input methods and have better Bluetooth functionality!
You'll need Titanium Backup Pro (Paid), the settings.apk down below and the FiredTV Launcher installed and ran once for it to be your new launcher(can be found here in the Fire TV forums).
Sideload the Settings.apk to your box.
Then open Titanium backup and click on Backup/Restore
Look for KFTV and click "Freeze"
Back Out and Install the new Keyboard, IME device or put your Bluetooth Device on pair mode.
for Keyboards and IMEs:
goto the new installed settings app and select your keyboard under Language & Input
for Bluetooth devices:
open settings and goto bluetooth
By better bluetooth do you mean less lag/delay? Or just we can pair bluetooth gamepads and keyboards more easily?

It gets into the VPN settings without crashing but wants a pin on lock screen to be set..like in standard android.. I didn't go any further cause I don't know how that would effect our boot up.. And I'm not that curious as I don't use it.. Sticks for me on the Google keyboard when I unfreeze.
If you can't select an IME from it being greyed out ,you have to re-enable the Bueller IME and reboot with Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
I enabled Game Keyboard successfully, but have not got around to testing it out.
I also went and got null keyboard to shut up the bueller appearances without disabling the apk itself.
Can someone try Game Keyboard with GTA San Andreas (Play Store) by mapping the touch positions to a K400r keyboard?

Quick Question
So I tried this the other day, and missed the part about having FiredTV installed. This lead to a soft brick state, and caused me to lose all of my data.
My question is this, why is FiredTV essentially a dependency for this to work?
I though FTV was just a launcher application, and it should have no bearing on this working (IMHO).

I though FTV was just a launcher application, and it should have no bearing on this working (IMHO).

You need to follow instructions not make your own lol. When you freeze the firetv launcher then there is no launcher available putting you in that state. Any launcher will do firedtv was just a recomendation, you can uninstall it when your done.

I did try, but no change.
In fact, I was already able to search for bluetooth devices & change keyboards (I already tried Bluez IME & few other things earlier) without freezing KFTV. I was using XBMC as my launcher when i tried this.

That would explain it. It was my fault, I was skimming the instructions and thought I had it, until I bricked it.
Regrettable Fact:When the KFTV Launcher is disabled or frozen, you can not select any other launcher from the recent apps list in Alt+Tab because the option (in my case Lucid Launcher) vanishes for some reason when KFTV is disabled/frozen.

I have three launchers installed go,firedtv, and xbmc and run with kftv frozen and get the selector.... If you have another launcher installed press your home key on remote and if you have just one it will load if you have a few you will get a selector.. I've never set a launcher via alt+tab that would only work if you had the other launcher open pretty recent.

Setting a controller up with reicast

The program only recognises the B button on the controller, which brings up icons that I can't click on since nothing else works. I saw on YouTube, there's tons of people playing Dreamcast without issue.
Any ideas how to get the controller working?

Figured it out. When you're on the menu with the list of games, hit the Dpad left until a side menu comes up, you'll see the settings to map all your buttons!
