[Q] auto sending sms on every restart on note 3 - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I am facing an issue on my samsung galaxy note 3 india version. Whenever I am restarting my phone it is sending sms to somewhere I could not figure it out which app or service is sending this sms. Anybody else is also facing this issue. I have formatted my phone still same thing.

In settings,,,,security,,,,there is an option "sim change alert"
If this was set with a sim it will send a text every time the phone is restarted with a different sim.

I lose Rs1.2 every time I press reboot. I use iBall Andi 4Di plus with android. Rs 1.2 is my sms charge on BSNL sim. Every time I press reboot, the phone reboots and after a minute of rebooting, I get a message from bsnl saying last call cost was Rs 1.2 and my total remaining balance. I've lost about Rs 20 so far (which is not a big amount). But, what concerns me more is the audacious sms sending by phone. Somebody help

I think certain India test/STOCK ROMs in the past (I have seen that problem on a i9300 ROM like one year ago) send after (first?) reboot a SMS to an office of Samsung India - something which I believe is deeply stupid - so you might want to give them a call. And let people know more if you learn something new on that matter from Samsung India.

It's due to some bloatware on your phone.
To find which one cause the issue, install App Ops Starter, switch to Messaging tab and you will see which app send an SMS

change csc code
This is not a bug...it's some kind of checking by samsung in indian firmwares..this is very annoying and i faced this in my samsung galaxy y duos...to disable this, you just need to change the csc codes from india to some other countries. type *272*your imei number# and select anything except INU and INS and click install...your phone will reboot...please note that this will factory reset the phone...so backup the data...from now on, no auto sms and balance deduction...
note: i'm not sure that the above said code will work on note...if it's not working, search "how to change csc code" in google...you will find other methods to do it...the above said procedure applies to all samsung devices....

hello,
it is some app you have installed to the ROM after rooting your device like an anti-theft software. its main function is set as" everytime you reboot the device, your phone sends as sms to a predefined mobile number".
solution: you have t flash a new ROM or the stock ROM again. the current ROM you are having right now is already infected with it. Either you install Titanium Back up and then check out one by one what that suspicious app might be and delete or you are to get a stock ROM for your device and flash it. Simple formating by CWM would not help as it will delete only the apps which you have installed and not the ones in your root.
hope this helps.

it's the firmware, not apps..
vickylahkarbytes said:

you are wrong...this is not caused by apps or virus infection...it's the stock indian firmware...samsung is registering the device by sending sms...u just need to change to another country...no need to flash another rom...read my above post...

SMS Timestamping Problem

Hey all,
I'm using the G1 with Rogers in Canada. I've been having a problem with the timestamping of incoming text messages.
They appear to be time stamped 4.5 hours behind. ex. if i were to get a text message at 8:30 PM, it'll tell me that it was recieved at 4:00 PM which throws off the SMS threading.
Is there any way to fix this? I spoke to TMobile and they told me the problem is carrier related and not in the actual phone. Is this true?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thx

I have this issue when I travel to the Dominican Republic... It is the carrier, for some reason Orange dominicana give me london time on my phone and everythin is screwed up...
I spoke to Rogers multiple times today and got them to do as much as cancel my service and reinstate it. That didn't seem to fix it. They said it might have been a problem with my SIM card so I tried a friends' SIM in my phone and same issue
Is anyone else on the Rogers/Fido network having this problem??
I have been having this problem since I last upgraded my tytnII. I was also told it was Rogers but they have not been able to fix it. If anyone knows anything I would love some info on this issue as well.
Thanks

If it is your carrier most likely the solution will not be from them. For them to solve it would mean they have to update the way their server processes SMS messages.

Those time settings should be coming from the tower you connect to so I'd agree.
try adjusting Settings / Date & Time settings / and manually change the time zone and see if there is any difference.
If not, goto Settings / Date & Time settings / and uncheck Automatic network-provided values and see if there is a difference.
solution
so i found a solution to the problem because rogers tech support are pretty useless lol
i turned off the automatic time updates from the network, set my time to GMT London and then adjusted my time to the current time
then i cleared my call log and all my sms messages (the only 2 things that are time stamped)
and now it all works no thx to rogers

delay recieving sms

sometimes i get my sms late, although it says the exact time the sms was sent, i still recieve it 2 hours later,
when i send an outgoing message, all my sms's come flooding in.. is there a fix for this.. is anyone else experiencing the same prob ??
i am on rom 1.66, official htc
what full rom version you using?
what network you on?
country?
has this been happening long time or recently?
it has been happening recently it was more common before the sms fix, its not all sms's just sometimes, and sometimes i dont recieve the sms at all
i am in uk, on o2 network, using the htc 1.66 rom, the one off the htc website,
i am SO close to selling this and getting an iphone
Give O2 a ring, I had this issue with my Nokia E90, and it turned out to be a corrupt message on their servers.
thanks mate,
dont think its the network mate, gave them a call.. cud it be the htc, becos the sms problems over the past are well known !

its a network problem genrally
delayed sms sound
I have similar problem on htc iolite since the new coocket roo303oom. The message sound is delayed to when i unlock my screen.
Im having exactly the same problem. Im on o2 uk and its really starting to get on my tits.
I sometimes get them an hour or 2 after they are sent, yet they are date stamped with the time they were actually sent. Did you manage to get to the root of the problem? I called o2 weeks ago about it and they just suggested i try a new sim, which they promptly sent me but it has made absolutely no difference. Is this a phone problem or a network problem?
Both of you on O2, I doubt it's got something to do with the phone.
sort of same issue with my HTC HD2 on Voda UK.
MEssages being sent or recived are not arriving on my phone!!
thinking of getting rid of phone now!!
just to annoy you mine works fine on virgin in the uk
Mine works fine on T-Mobile too
SMS delay

this is a widespread problem with htc's , if u google , late sms, you wil find, people on all networks are having this problem
i have contacted them and they say it could be the phone
Hi everybody,
I'm still experiencing this problem. That happened after the last ROM upgrade (see attached screenshot for current versions).
The message arrived a couple of hours later. Not it's about 24 hours or I don't receive the messages at all.
This might be a coincidence, but I often was browsing with Opera when the messages finally showed up.
I'm using Zenyee disable htc messaging 1.2 as I'm syncing with an Exchange 2010.
It's definitely not the provider, but the phone. I've put my simcard in a standard cell phone where the messages arrived in an instant.
Anybody got an idea?
It not the network, its a file in HTC phones. I havent been able to figure out what was causing it until now. I am 90% sure I know the culprit, but I am not 100% sure. I am on a TP2 and I just ran across this problem today after I installed a cooked rom I made, before everything was fine. I am in the process of testing this theory out. I should have a better idea by either days end, or at latest by tomorrow. I am testing 3 packages out at the moment to see if my theory is correct.
Will keep you posted.
I have the same problem too or sometimes I only get the text if I unlock the phone then I get 3 texts at once also sending text if it has more then 160 but less than 180 (i think ) then ppl don't seem to get my text weird no lol
I've had this problem in my HTC Trinity...
Fortunately I don't have it in the Leo...

[solved]VERY weird i cannot send sms but i receive!

Hello, yesterday i bought my new phone and i flashed directly the hspl and a custom rom and radio.
Then i tried to send sms but i could not, i could only receive!.
Then i unistalled hspl and flashed shipped rom but the problem remains.

No they are not there, and i have a notice from my phone that the message cannot be sent.
in the start menu theres usually an icon like a sim card, usually with your operators name. try running that to get settings
also try...
settings tab - menu - all settings - connections
and see if you have a connection setup in there (also to get settings)
I had this issue when I first got my HD2. I'm not saying yours is the same cause but I had my problem on the day my old number had been ported to the new phone. I was able to receive texts but couldn't send. I contacted o2 and they told me I wouldn't be able to send texts for the rest of that day right up to midnight. The next day everything was fine and dandy.
This problem was solved and i must report this.
The problem was that my sim card was too old!!
So old sim cards do not work properly.

Galaxy Note UK T-Mobile SMS issue - help

Hi UK Note users with T-mobile,
I don't know whether you also have the same problem: the note can receive SMS but cannot send SMS when it is in T-mobile orange signal, I wil have to manually change it back to t-mobile before SMS can be sent. Could please somebody offer a solution for this isssue/bug? Thanks in advance.
Mine has been fine on several stock roms. My phone came sim free. Is yours locked and are you using stock radio etc?

I have a similar problem. SMS says its sent but there is a spinning circle next to the message. The recipient gets some messages but others turn up later. Having read the T-Mobile help pages, I think you have to turn on data roaming. This is what I am going to turn today. But remember to turn it off if you go abroad.

Thanks for your reply. The phone is originally from O2 monthly tariff (unlocked). I simply use my t-mobile SIM card. The current Android version is 2.3.6, firmware version is 2.6.35.7-N7000xxkka, it is rooted. I am using handcent SMS app but the stock SMS app has the same problem. The data roaming is ON already.
Thanks for your reply, it is with official rom, rooted. Problem still exist.
Still doing the same thing, says sent but icon spinning when connected to T-Mobile Orange. It re sends later once its back on the T-Mobile only signal. so the person gets 2 sms messages :-(
Don't want to step too far out of my knowledge here but not had a problem at all on the sim free version, but worth installing the Carphone Warehouse rom from development?

No problems here.
This will sound stupid but try outting in another network sim. Booting up and installing the seyting from that network. Then outting your tmob sim back in and reinstalling the settings.
Works to solve quite a few probs on samsung ohones

I'm on T-Mobile here and not noticed any issues as it switches between it and Orange. I use Go SMS, everything works fine for me, but round here the T-Mobile signal is generally pretty good.

Me too I'm on T-Mobile and mostly use T-Mobile-Orange Signal as we have orange transmitters in place at work.
Never had an issue at all..
I too use Go SMS though...
Try that maybe.
Have you tried to re-set your SMSC? (SMS Message Center)
Couldn't find anymore the thread on XDA explaining it, but found this link : http://blog.empirion.co.uk/android/setting-the-smsc-sms-message-centre-in-android-ics/
Give it a try
Have you tried t-mobile page for sending settings to your phone?
http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/help-and-support/index?page=home&cat=SOFTWAREDOWNLOADS
Worked for me on another phone where i needed internet settings.
On the note i have used many ICS roms recently and never had issue with sending sms.
I think mine is fixed, following the advice above, I swapped out my sim for a Vodafone one, then after it booted, switched off and put my T-Mobile sim back in, now sending once only.
Solved!

Its Smspopup causing the problem for me. Disabled and all is well.
Mine is an O2 contract Note that came unlocked and unbranded. I'm almost constantly on T-Mobile-Orange (much to my annoyance) but I never have any issues sending SMS. I currently use Chomp SMS but I've also used stock and GoSMS with the same success. Is your SIM card particularly old? That's the only thing I can think might be the problem unless there's some weird fault with your phone but it seems unlikely. The only other thing is that perhaps there's a fact with the Orange transmitter in your area. Does the problem occur elsewhere?

It is possible that the problem is caused by the 'old sim card'. The sim card is originally a 3 UK PAYG one and I just port the number. I shall discuss this issue with T-mobile and to see if they can issue me a new SIM card.

Try the simplest thing first....remove the sim and wipe it and reinsert...try the sim on another phone to make sure ot works....also go to about phone and chrck your baseband....if it says unknown...you need to flash a new modem
