[Q] I want to review my Android App - General Marketing & SEO

This is my first Android App on Google Play. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mapleapps.android.snoozzz.
I want to get this app reviewed. Any Ideas?????????:highfive:

i'm going to try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277848&page=3

Do you mean reviewed from third-party outlets or on the Google Play Store?

That's a fun idea for an app - accountability for sleeping in haha. I also like the green on black color scheme.

Yeah it would be good for have a monthly magazine for android enthusiasts, hmm now lets see which publisher sees the gap in the market.

[Q] the market's ranking system

Is the ranking system of "top apps" based entirely off of active installs OR are there other factors involved?
I would assume by rating and the number of downloads

I think also the rate of new installs is taken into account. What I can tell you is that the featured app criteria is "corrupt" for lack of a better word. For example, the app which reminds you to call your parents was featured when it had <50 downloads. The next day, it was still featured despite not so great reviews.
By corrupt I am not trying to imply malicious intent by Google. Rather, unfairness?
@Chalup - lol tell me about it, I'm pretty sure that the "one fish, two fish" dr. zeus book that is featured is purely infringing on it (unless they actually have the rights to it)
This is one of my biggest hates about Android. I like how on the iTunes app store the top apps drastically change like every week to give people some new apps to download compared to the Market where they only change once in a blue moon. I hate having to look around the Market for ages looking for some apps that interest me.
the ranking system is definitely messed up

[NEWS] Android Market overtaked App Store

Hey,
Now it happend, the android market has more apps as the ap store!
Android Market - 459573 Apps
App Store - 455627 Apps
What do you think?
I have found the informations about the apps here:
Android Market: http://www.androlib.com/appstats.aspx
App Store: http://148apps.biz/app-store-metrics/
I think this is another beat up against apple from android(google) and its good
What do you think about this? What app store is better?
Greets
Lenn
They are not comparable.
While Android has alot more free ( add using ) apps, in general the quality of apple apps are higher, because they have to follow some rigoros tests.
But it is now onother argument lost for Apple.

Google play no more android market?

Anything changed besides the name?

I flashed Civato's R6 Flexreaper, it still has Market as of right now, but it wants me to update to 'Google Play Music' from Google Music, so I think it's a new gimmick to make the old android/google apps sound new and fresh, following the decrease in Google Music users.

Stupid name, google play. Is this only a game/music device now?
Seems a little faster opening the app though. old market took forever for me. yes, stupid name.
I hate the new name and icon.. doesn't fit I miss Android market with its green little shopping bag lol the new one reminds me of something that Sony would do

With the name change it is going to unification all services (market, videos, music etc.) in one. It's hard to say it, but it is.... like itunes.
I live in Poland. Services like google music aren't avaliable in here right now. So for me it is just market with new name. Another oportunity to buy some apps cheaper.
The minute I read about this in the news. I was outraged. What the hell google?
First you kill the Menu button...now you change the name of the Android Market to GOOGLE PLAY? It's like they are trying to make me leave Android. :/
Come on google, get your head on straight!
I'd sure like to use it! When I open it, it crashes immediately. Tried clearing the data and reinstalling it. No joy. Any suggestions?
Google is just trying to keep things fresh. Not a big deal, same thing, different name. If that's enough to upset someone, they most likely have some other underlying psychological issues that haven't been dealt with. Be thankful!
What a gay name, Android Market 4 Life! ****ING LOOSERS!!!
What is really happening is that google is trying to gain terrain over the other companies; and thus, google is reinventing itself to get rid of the bad reputation it had from the mainstreem customer it is traying to attract because they are the ones that buy everything(apps, movies, books, devices and other things). If you want an example of the bad reputation just get an old device with 2.1 or 1.6 and dont flash it; i bet even a blackberry would kick ass agains that(even x8 is terrible with the factory´s rom, and it is not that old)
Srry bros, but people like us that like everything free even if it is a bit more difficult to use, or flash, or do it ourselfs is not what google is targeting to.
Brace yourselfs, google mainstreem is coming
*only if it succeds to transform the company and attract new customers with new style(ics), new services(google play), and other stuff, which i think it is doing pretty well with.

Technically, there's no amount of money that can get you advertised on Google Play's main pages. They're strictly based off of user ratings, redirects to your Google Play page (or so I've heard), the size of your user-base, the overall quality of your game, and of course whether or not the Google employees who are responsible for main page ranking deem your app/game interesting enough.
There's many theories all over the place as to how you can get way up there posted on various blogs and websites, but unfortunately there's no single answer. Though, having a 'Top Developer' badge probably makes it 100x easier to appear on the main pages, but getting that in itself is not a goal most people will ever achieve unfortunately.

The way to get high ranking is promoting your app and get more clicks.. If you really want to get profit or monitize your app, you should spend some money on advertising and cooperate with some digital advertising company and precisly target your audience.

google cannot be bought, if your app is good and they like it, they will feature it, else they wont.
Fast growth generally will move you up the rankings. If you launch a new app go and advertise it a little bit so that it can move up the rankings fast. Focus on retention, google loves apps that have high user retention.
Large downloads + High retention + good ratings above4.0+high quality app are main ingredients.
Nowadays Google also started apps recommendations as per the previously installed or downloaded app from the play store. So if your app resembles with relevancy then your app will automatically get up higher in the ranking. Thanks
