Don't know if anyone else is getting this sound bug - randomly, typically with device in hand, either unlocking or changing volume, a static sound will go off and continue to go until I can lower the volume and lock the device.

My rumble inside the phone sounds broken.

Mine doesn't sound broken, but it certainly sounds... a lot different than my previous Nexus 4 or Galaxy series phones. My guess is because the vibrator motor is soldered to the board, and not just a piece that rattles against the case. Its actually vibrating on something solid and resonates a lot differently than the plastic that most vibrators run against.

I have problems with the camera modules in both Vine and Focal app. Which is unfortunately because Focal is amazing. The aspect ratio is all wrong and causes the images to be shrunk or stretched. Not sure what or how to fix it.

Zero issues here so far...

Not sure if it's a Moto X bug, or hangouts, or just the VZW one.
When I open hangouts from the active notifications, the keyboard doesn't activate for a few seconds. Either I click back to the main window or I scroll up and down and then the keyboard works fine.
Kind of odd and slows me down.

Have had a few random reboots (about 4 total) as well as some phantom touch events when grasping it in my left hand. Not certain if my index finger managed to touch the edge of the screen, but I really doubt it. Overall it's been quite solid, pretty impressive for an Android device rollout.
My other "other" issue is the black crush/oversaturated colors. Easily corrected with Screen Adjuster and a contrast setting of 19. Looks absolutely brilliant now. Wonderful color temperature (best I've ever seen on a phone), but I think there are multiple revisions of the screen out there as the reports seem to vary quite wildly. If you have the same screen I happen to have, definitely give Screen Adjuster a go and tick the contrast up a bit. Hopefully Moto will work this one out with the next update, but I pray they don't succumb to making the color temp cooler, I don't want to have to root this thing
edit: I should mention that my setting of 19 for contrast is good on my device for auto-brightness in my typical lighting environment. 13 seems to be the most accurate if you are testing at 100% brightness. YMMV, the trick is to keep the black pixels black since it's AMOLED, the patterns at http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ are useful here.

I haven't had a single problem.

call recipient says "you're cutting out" too often (i.e., 2/3 calls i make; even w/5 bars of 4G). otherwise, this "phone" is great (quotation marks = sarcasm; phone is having trouble being phone). o_o

ok. 5 bars on verizon. thanks for the correction (sincerely; not sarcasm).

Not sure if its VZW network or the Moto X but my emails keep unsyncing. Yahoo and Outlook. I have to sign in a few times a day.
Or if its the apps.

I'm going to guess it's a Hangouts bug because this also happens to me on my Galaxy Nexus

I get random reboots as well. Typically when not even using device. I only know because I'll notice that I'm back on 4g. I think it's something to do with active notifications if I don't respond to notification. Can't be sure though. Still pretty seldom. About 10 times in ~2 weeks
Also have huge issue with talk to me 'app' announcing every single text message to me. Whether using the device, on home wifi, or anywhere else. Heard it's a bug with the moto assist app they are working on. Had to use 3rd party sms app to stop.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk 4

I don't know if this bug is exclusive to the Moto X, as I'm coming from an old school Droid Bionic, but I never noticed it on that phone.
After setting up multiple contacts with custom ringtones, everything seemed to work. However after selecting a new default ringtone for my phone, it then reset all of my custom ringtones I had for various contacts. When I would open up the individual contact, the custom ringtone would still show selected, but I would have to manually select it again for it to "stick".

So, I have a Moto X, and for some reason my test messages don't expand in my notification bar. It tells me when I get them, but if I pull down the notification shade, and then do the two-finger-swipe-thing, nothing expands. The only thing that changes is the text message icon in the bottom right of the notification either appears or disappears.
Is anyone else having this problem? I've been using this feature a lot on my old phone, and am really starting to miss it on my new Moto X. Am I maybe missing a setting or something? Anyone??

One finger swipe sideways just dismisses the text notification. And if I try to one finger slide down, it does nothing. Does expandable text message notifications work for anyone else?
NOTE: Gmail and other notifications expand just fine, using the normal method. I'm pretty sure it's a bug at this point....

[Q] What? No LED notification?

Doesn't this phone have a LED notification feature??

The lock screen does a pretty good job of keeping you up to date on whats been happening. I didn't even realise any new smart phones had LED notifications.
That response is hilariously absurd. I have to actually pick my phone up and look to see if something is happening?

I have to say - I had the HTC Diamond before my Omnia and this is the one feature I miss.
The Phone is a million times better in every other aspect, so I will oversee this flaw

No, it doesn't. Unfortunately, this is one of the features I miss from my HD2.
But there are dozens of things that are better, so I'll get along with it
Just noticed that. I've been adapting to the icons and never checked.
I like the icons it seems, with Txt, E-mail, Multiple accounts and apps with their own notifications. Wouldn't want to have to memorise each beep. dash. dot for what i missed in this day and age, the icon tells me in one glance what I've missed with a symbol, maybe coloured dots would be the same but, i did wonder how do you not look at the phone to see the LED notification?
That i wanna learn
Point explained
We're talking hardware design here. As far as I can see from inspecting the device, it DOES have LEDs under the buttons, which means that it is INDEED possible to implement a LED notification hack of some sort... like it's been done on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, for instance (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830782)!
The advantage: A slow-blinking LED will enable the user to become notified of a new text/email message/missed call by just glancing at the phone from afar, ergo not having to pick the phone up AND turn on the screen.
It's an epic fail, in my opinion, that this cannot be found in the otherwise great hardware design of the Omnia 7, as all well-crafted smartphones these days incorporate such functionality (e.g. the HTC Hero).

If someone writes such an app, and it does not consume much more power, it would be a reason for me to do the unlock...
I guess there is no chance that this app would be approved via the official way?
Just realized: Someone's actually made an app for submitting and voting for already submitted ideas for improvements to WP7. It's called "My WP7 Idea", and yes, it already contains my idea. USE IT! (and please, please, please VOTE for this)
Does anyone know if there's a LED under the middle touch navigation button (the one with the Windows logo)? Would be cool, if this could light up with notifications, wouldn't it...?
Theres not a LED. Only the other 2 buttons lighten up. I don't think that's a problem tough.
You could think of a procedure like back button enlightened when a new sms is there, search button when you have a missed call or something.
Close to the light sensor i saw another something,i dont know what is it for..but on a video on youtube..i saw it blinking in blue..when the user used bluetooth for calling...anyone noticed that?
we got 4" led display !
can notification led just be emulated by a small blinking square right in the center of the screen ?

Yes. Ludicrous, isn't it.
I don't understand how this could bother you so much, unless you like people to notice that you are popular. You should have looked at the specs before you bought it - seems to be an ongoing problem people have with phones.

you can't be serious? since the dawn of man (ok,mobile), a phone has had a visual indicator that you have missed an event. This is like having an alarm clock with no alarm. you just have to keep waking up and switching the screen on!
I've recently got my hands on an Omnia 7 and today I realised I was missing emails, sms etc because there was no led flashing. I thought it was broken. Turns out it isn't... the logic of samsung is.

2 Annoyances, looking for solutions

I apologize if this has already been covered. If it has, I wasn't able to find it.
1)
After a call, when I pull the phone away, the notification bar gets stuck "slightly" pulled down and touches to the screen are unresponsive. I have to pull the notification bar down all the way, then put it back up to make it go away. Otherwise, the bar just stays at about a half inch (or less) from the top of the screen. I'm using the SuperDark rom, but I don't think it's an issue with that since I remember the same thing happening with one of the first calls I made on the phone. It seems to happen about 1 out of 4 calls I make. I'm pretty used to it now and I usually just end the call using the notification bar when it happens, but I wanted to know if anyone is experiencing this and how it can be avoided/fixed.
2)
Animated GIFs. I saw the post of annoyances saying how the browser doesn't support them. But I couldn't find anything about the Gallery app not supporting them, either. I can deal with the browser, but I use Chandroid for 4chan and such, and it would be nice to view the animated GIFs I save from Chandroid in the Gallery. Is there a fix for this? Or possibly an alternate Gallery app I can use?
Thanks in advance
1. Don't press phone against ear until the proximity sensor turns the backlight off.
2. Don't have a specific answer. But I bet 2.2 wouldn't hurt.
good day
Looks like there was a discussion about the gif thing back in April.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=660914
I have seen conflicting information about this, though, on the web. I have a phone with 2.2 at home, so I will give it a test tonight and let you know, unless someone replies sooner.

Anyone Else Have This Messenger App Issue?

Sometime if I exit the stock sms messaging app while its on a conversation screen with a contact, and then re-enter it (whether it be by turning screen off and on, or jumping to and from another app), the conversation jumps to the first text message I ever sent the contact...in some cases that is days ago. I then have to scroll all the way down to see the new message they sent, or to see the most recent reply.
Did I explain this good? Anyone else have this issue?
I see it as well.
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk 4
Happens to me also, if you touch the right side of the chat box you can drag the tab quickly to the last message, it's no fix but it's faster than scrolling.
Yup.. annoys the heck out of me. Almost went with a different messenger, but some of the messages that go out using Voice don't show up in different messengers, but show up in stock.
I too have this issue every once in a while. I can't figure out exactly when it occurs.
Another issue with messaging that I experience is when I am in Conversation mode, and hit the Back button, I am pushed out of the application rather than back to the list of conversations. These functionality issues are annoying but nothing root and stock messaging can't fix.
Weird.. I have not come across this problem yet.
Yea it happens to me too. Not a huge deal but it is pretty annoying.

For a work around, if you just close out the keyboard and then go to enter text again, you are moved to the bottom of the conversation instead of the top.. Annoying.. but faster than scrolling IMHO.

Easy way to get back to watch face without dismissing 5+ cards?

Is there an easy way to get back to the watch face? Sometimes I have to dismiss 5+ notifications or cards before I can see the dang time. Am I missing something?
On the G Watch I just hold the flat of my finger down on the screen for maybe a second and it goes back to the time, that's when I have my display set to always on.

On my Gear Live, if I swipe down to "mute" notifications it will hide the cards, then I can swipe down again to "unmute" notifications... Not an ideal solution, but it works.

Well I just got a Samsung Gear Live, and to get back to the time for me I just "palm" it. Aka cover the face with my palm and have it go into low power mode. With the watch face I have, the time is easily visible then. If I need it brighter, I tap it and I'm back at the clock face maybe with a "card" on the bottom. This also requires two settings, "always on", and "Hide cards on dimmed screen". Both can be toggled in the Android Wear app.
Just an idea of how to get by with the cards. And if you are getting that many cards that you don't want, you can use the google now app on your phone to adjust what ones you want to see.
Latest update 4.4w2 has your solution

I just got the 4.4w2 update, and one change is what you wanted: to view the watch face without having cards blocking it.
On first glance (if you ignore the notifications), it will show the watch face. Otherwise, if you are already viewing notifications, just keep swiping down (just don't accidentally mute it).
"palming it" is a universal thing on all wear devices...no matter where you are, which screen/app etc, you can get back "home" (on this case, the watch face) by holding you palm over the watch (as if you were trying to smother it with your palm), note that this works best with palms, legs etc, I tried to make it so my bed "smother" the watch instead of hand and it didn't work.
On the new update w2, swiping down brings you back to the watch face

Software annoyances with Marshmallow/6P

I recently switched from a Droid Turbo to a 6P for the sole reason of I needed the unlocked radio abilities that the Nexus line offers and I was unable to obtain with other phones. (Droid Turbo/Moto Maxx I have plenty of threads on this around). Aside from the Verizon bloat and added software, I loved that phone.
The Nexus 6P is a very good phone on it's own, aside from the size, but I am having a few adjustment issues that some of you might be able to help me out with. I've read that most switchers from the Droid line of phones are unhappy with the Nexus Active Display compared to the Moto version. Just curious if anybody has found a worthy software that has been able to replicate or was able to port the Moto Display over to the 6P? I would be very interested and even willing to shell out $ to help that progress. The Nexus version just seems so unfinished. It very rarely wakes up upon movement and I really enjoyed how I could just wave my hand near my Turbo and I would get the time and notifications.
But my biggest issue with the software of the 6P is the fact that the bottom navigation buttons are software based and do not stay put or visible at all times. I hold the device mostly with my left hand in landscape mode and it doesn't matter which way I am holding it (the top is to the right or left) the navigation buttons are on the right side. If they would just stay put where they are supposed to be, on the bottom of the phone, I could easily use this phone one handed in landscape mode. But I cannot currently. The second part of this issue is the immersive full screen mode where they keep making my navigation buttons disappear! Ok, the screen is big enough, I do not need that extra 4 mm of screen real estate. Leave the buttons visible so I can use them please. I hate the extra screen tap and then delay to be able to back out. The video player is even worse, only allowing a small x to be pressed to back out. I've tried Immersive Full Screen Mode and a few others including Power Toggle but none lock the immersive full screen off. So does anybody know of or have a remedy to lock the navigation buttons and keep them visible? I'm also of the apparent minority that prefers the notification bar to always be visible as well.
Thanks for any help offered.
You may have to wait till some custom roms hit the scene. Sounds like a rom with pie controls would be what you seek.
Yea I was afraid of that. I was hoping there was another secret menu out there that allows control of these features.
I am annoyed with the stock messaging app...does a decent job, however it always crashes when attempting to access through the app switcher. I hate having to go back to the home screen to access my text messages.

acDisplay worked pretty well on my HTC One.
Looks pretty good, but it disables my fingerprint security. With it on I can press the power button and gain access or just swipe up. If I use the built in lock screen, after unlocking with the fingerprint, it still gives the acdisplay lock screen. Perhaps it just needs a marshmallow update to work specifically with this phone. I will continue to monitor it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'd load Xposed with gravity box. Keeps you on AOSP and you'll have PIE, and many options for the nav bar alone.
How does one get this immersive display where the navigation buttons hide? I'm curious about this feature
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
It's built into the apps. The Google Photos app, any video playback, a lot of apps and games that I have automatically go into it. There's also plenty of apps, I mentioned one above, that you can install and get immersive all the time. Be aware though, I got myself into a bit of a jam as it removed the back and home buttons and I couldn't exit a certain app.
