Warning about Touchless control - Moto X General

The voice features can somewhat distinguish our voice but will not unlock the phone upon recognizing us so if there is a lock pattern and we give s Touchless command we then have to touch the phone to unlock it b4 Google now will execute said command. I think that there should be an option to unlock when we give a command. Just make a warning about how it's not safe when we select it. Thanks for reading.

Somewhat is right. I know 4 people that can activate my touchless controls consistently =/
I disabled my lockscreen completely, so can't help you there unfortunately.

SECURITY FLAW! Google Voice Actions usable on lock screen!

I just noticed today accidentally that you can press and hold the search button on the lock screen and perform anything Google Voice Actions is capable of. I am using a Droid 2 unrooted. This may affect the Droid X as well.
This is a huge security flaw in Motorola's modified lock screen. Hopefully this thread garnishes enough attention so that this can be patched soon!
Steps to reproduce:
1. Lock your screen
2. Press and hold the search button "magnifying glass"
3. Speak any voice action and the phone will respond. Note: you will not get any visual or audible cues that it is working, but it is!
I use Widget Locker which allows me to disable this flaw, but this is a good find.
Thanks for making it public.

Is your D2 rooted?
Is your D2 modified in anyway in regards to the lock screen?
Have you recently received an OTA update from VZW?
The issue is still affecting me and others. I do know if you Google Voice Actions can't recognize your phrase, it will obviously stop and not do anything.
Mine too, Droid 2 FRG22D rooted but no roms
Just checked, my D2 will do the same thing. It is rooted, but totally stock otherwise with no rom changes. FRG22D (2-week old phone).
Same Here with a Rooted D2!
Wow, that's a serious flaw... a custom rom will probably be able to remedy that though
Here's two articles showing good video demonstrations of the issue:
Edit: I tried to post the links, but I guess my newbie status doesn't allow it.
If you go to boygeniousreport and droid-life, you can find the articles there.

Disable slide to unlock ?!

Is there any way to disable the slide to unlock feature and just have the pattern unlock ?
Also in this boat, searching leads to several threads like this
Yes you need to uncheck the auto launch of the play app.
I don't recall where I seen it.
I'll post when I find it.
Open the play app, push the menu button and select settings.
Then uncheck auto start.
Forget what I said.
I thout you meant when you slid the screen and not the slide bar on the screen.
There is no way that I have found.

That's where we go to set the pattern unlock, what we want to know is how to remove the slide to unlock that comes up before the pattern unlock
This needs a bump, so here it is. I'm in this boat all of a sudden because my employer enforces an entry code for devices for a corporate account. I'm getting really unhappy having to slide, enter pin every time !
Try the app "antilock"
Its free on the market and does exactly what you want, I believe. I use it myself so I don't need to slide twice as I use widgetlocker
Hope this helps!
works like a charm!
Uninstalling, sometime after turning the app on my phone started to act "funny" or erratic... After uninstall everything seems to be normal again.

S-voice does not open in listening mode

When I say "Hi Galaxy" with the screen off, S-Voice opens, but does not listen until I say the phrase a second time. Has anyone else encountered this? I am rooted, with Xposed installed.
Edit:
I'd really like to get to the bottom of this issue, if someone with some experience could give me some feedback. I believe I first attempted to use S-Voice after rooting with root de la vega. It has never opened in listening mode (launched from app drawer or with the screen off feature), even after upgrading to MJ7 (kept root with survival mode in SuperSU), or flashing Beans Rom in SafeStrap. This has led me to believe this is a hardware or kernel issue, but I'm not the most knowledgeable person about these things. Therefore, any feedback would be much appreciated! TIA
Thank you for your feedback

Update: From what I've seen, when I open S-Voice from the app drawer, it should open in listening mode. Anyone have an idea why mine does not?

Update 2: I now use Tasker to close S-Voice when it opens, and start Google Voice Search! Doesn't listen as quickly as the Moto X, takes about 3 seconds, but no complaints here!

I am also having the issue. When I say "Hi Galaxy" or when I just open S Voice it does not open in listen mode. Any ideas?
Same issue here, no luck with clearing data or cash for the app. I'd be fine with the Tasker to Google Search deal but I was having fun with the turning on/off bluetooth and wifi using voice and a few other features S-Voice has, despite being not as reliable. I just went ahead and installed utter to be able to get the functionality of both, but I can't say my battery life is all that great with so many different things going on at once now.

You might not want to close S-voice, but rather just open Google now on top of it. If you close it, I don't think the screen-off "Hi galaxy" command will work next time around.
I have the same issue... Then I realized something. I have Pebble app for my SmartWatch. I disabled the accessibility service for pebble and it works now. So is it pebble or s voice?

Can you share that tasker profile please. I can't use that damn app to save my life. I started using automateit pro because it dumbs it down but that app won't open voice search only the regular Google app.

Create a profile, select application, select S-voice, delect new task, new task, name it .. In the task edit screen, create action, app, load app, and select Voice Search, and don't make any changes in the action edit screen.. make sure it's active on the profile tab, and try it out.. xda has a great tasker tutorial on youtube! Check it out!

I was worried about that when I created that task.. Tasker could not seem to close S-voice so it didn't effect me. When I realized it wasn't closing, I removed that action. I am interested in how the note 3s always listening feature differs from Motos 8x technology. And if Utter! has the potential of being this energy efficient?

OK Google command

So for some reason all of a sudden I can't get the "OK google" voice command to work. I'm running stock KitKat and I've tried it in both the LG ui and Nova Launcher. Has anyone else had this trouble? Any ideas on how to fix would be great, thanks in advance.

Did you enable it inside Google now settings, so that it allows you to use it from any screen?
I tried to set it up to work from any homescreen but it won't respond when I try to go through the voice recognition steps.

When I try to train it, it doesn't react when I say the OK google command 3x. Conversely, I tried it on a galaxy s4 I have and I could train it just fine and make the command work from any home screen.

Major security issue

Ok, lock you device, use hey Google to set an alarm when it's done tap home, wala! No login patten code fingerprint needed. I tested this on the fingerprint enabled so I suppose it works on the rest. This is bad, very bad

LOL, try ok google and say anything. It till open up a browser and voila. All my important things require a finger print though.
The only fix would be to turn off the Okay Google detection from any screen option.
Hahahaha
We've been over this before (use search). You have trusted voice enabled. Have a buddy try it. It won't work.

So I guess that the only way is to disable trusted voice if one cared enough. Personally, I didn't search as I didn't really care but my brother opened my phone on the first attempt. This is definitely not secured.
I will keep it on as I like asking my phone questions while it sits on my computer desk.
