[Q] Allshare for S4 - T-mobile SGH-M919 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I upgraded from my S3 to my S4 with expectation that Allshare Controll would be there. I've even seen it touted in reviews. But Allshare wasn't installed from factory, and the Play store has it not supporting my phone SGH-M919 (T-mobile version) - 2nd item in list in pic below.
It did list the Allshare Control Tab as being compatible, but it just gave me an error message saying it doesn't work with this phone, when I tried to use it. Since then, it no longer shows up a SGH-M919 being supported.
Is this the case for everyone?
I can't use Wifi Direct as my Samsung TV (PN64D550) only supports Allshare.

Bump

If you are talking about Allshare Cast, it has been renamed to Screen Mirroring.
If you are talking about Allshare Play, it has been renamed to Samsung Link.
If none of those suit your needs, you can always use DLNA which is called Nearby Devices (or something like that, my phone is in Portuguese).

Thanks, I was referring to Allshare Play (i.e. no dongle.) I didn't see the Samsung Link, but now I do. And it's not coming up when I'd click on a video/pic from my gallery and the hit Share.
That said, tonight I'll try to set it up and see if it get's added. I'm extremely surprised that I couldn't find any information when googling Allshare issues that it was renamed. And even more surprised that I can't find anything on it in the play store. When looking for Allshare, you'd think that if they're changing names, they'd also keyword allshare in to get links to it, but they don't have have Samsung Link available on the play store as far as I can see.
Stuff like this should be on their product page at least, and it's not there. I banged my head against the wall on this for the past week.

and cloud installation works like a charm! however, not all applications are supported on Notion Ink Adam.
Yes, i'm rooted. Probably won't work if you're not rooted since you dont have google service and you're not "logged" onto your google account
Are you Rooted? If so, anyone who hasn't rooted, please tryit and let us know!
Im not rooted atm and it works, but some apps arent compatible with the Adam, Google Maps/Google Earth for example.
Seems u still need Market installed since it loads info from it so u can download. So its useless for the adam currently.
Thanks guys for keeping us updated!
A bunch of us don't have or Adams yet and we live vicariously through you. Thanks again for posting your updates.
I wonder how it will determine that an app is compatible with the Adam. Does it go by characteristics (eg screen resolution, CPU, memory, ...) or does the developer have to specify what devices (or all) will work (eg what GameLoft does on their web page).

that's a good question. i think they just list it as an unknown device in their database. i always wonder what happens if modify the default.prop file to something like Samsung Tab....

Right. So we may have to play with this file to be able to buy compatible software if Adam is not listed.
Buying at GameLoft for my Galaxy Fascinate can be painful. When they gave away Dungeon Hunter for the holidays I had to find a version for one of the sister phones because they had not tested it on mine so it did not show when I went to their site on my phone. I hope they figure out a better way.

My guess is if you have market installed and working, it should show up as a device on your "my market account" as an option.

Does anyone know if I can use my phone as a keyboard/mouse for the MK908?

I just got an MK908 and wanted to use my phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) or my Nexus 7 tablet as a wireless or bluetooth keyboard for the MK908. Does anyone know how I can do this? I would like to avoid buying a mini-keyboard.

Droidmote Client works well. It works much better than the free alternatives out there.
In the end, however, I ended up buying a Logitech K400 keyboard b/c it worked even better.

Hello
I am in the same situation.
And yes it is possible.
Droidmote is a solution.
I am trying RKremotecontrol. I just installed it yesterday evening but I didn't had enough time to test it.
It seems to work but I don't know yet it it's a good way.
I got an example in youtube but , I am a new user here and I can't post a link
Search for this keywords: "Remote control app for RK3066 on MK802 III "
N.B: (This tool is installed in a MK908 custom rom from a certain Finless)
Tell us what you try
Yes you can, there is several solutions, search the Playstore (Droidmote, Tablet Remote) or what LeTFiD told you : RKremotecontrol, a dedicated/native solution for all RK devices.

How to mirror your Android screen with nexus player?

I tried the cast function on the phone (Nexus 5) but somehow it can not find any device.
But using the Youtube app casting is working.
Can it work like the chromecast?

With my stock nexus 7 (KK 4.4.4) and wireless display enabled in display settings the screen mirroring works just fine. You have to be on the same wifi network as the nexus player of course then an option will show up in the right corner pull down menu to cast the screen to the player. If it still cant detect it then I am not sure what the problem is, you can try restarting both devices.
I can mirror my nvidia shield tablet on the nexus player with no problem. There is a sec delay but it works quite well, even the sound works. I'm running 5.0 on both devices.
I finally get it working with using the Nexus 5 as AP and let Nexus Player to connect the WIFI hotspot.
So far I can't figure this out, and I'm on the understanding that this can do everything the chromecast can. I use the screen mirror quite a bit!

Guys, I just want to share a tool app, that you need to enhance the mirror feature, that you are trying to establish with your Nexus TV Player.
Follow the link below and scroll down to two post with the above black Android icon on the folder photo, there you will find the tool app and instructions for mirroring and Google casting. Also check out the post with the above top photo, enjoy.

N7 casts from settings and notification menus. For my G2 I had to use the standard Play Store Chromecast app instead
I just got a Nexus Player today and when I tried casting my phone's screen to it, my phone kept saying "no devices found. I turned the Player off, then on, and then my phone found out right away. Just thought I'd mention what worked for me

S8 - Strange software

Hi there, just purchased a new S8 today form an Asian electonics market. Seems to have some form of modifled XFINITY mobile software on it as the phone boots with the XFINITY logo and the carrier says XFINITY even though I am on a local network.
I have posted some info below on the software version but would be usfull to see if anybody had seen a version like this before and if they had any issues with it.
Happy to post any other details if it helps

Download Phone INFO(Samsung app) from play store and it will have more info and also find out exact model #. By the screenshot I see it says G950U and it seems to be US model.

Thanks guys, see below for screenshots from the app:
Seems to look fine, but curious what is tricking the phone to work with another sim but still displaying XFINITY as the carrier.
Looks like you bought a phone that was originally from Xfinity Mobile(us carrier). Pics aren't loading (might be my phone tbh), so can't say much more lol.

Cannot Cast from phone to TV

I can CAST directly to my TV from apps, for example by tapping a photo in Google Photos, but I cannot cast the screen. It does not identify my TV as being available, though it does detect my PC. The TV is on the same WiFi network, and my phone must be able to communicate with it or I would not be able to cast successfully from apps.
In the Shade when I click the CAST BUTTON it does not respond in any way, eg. change colour, as other buttons do. Should it? However, I do get the notification which has the 'not found' report.

Hi, if you been able cast screen previously, and now it isn't work anymore, your problem probably will be in your network configuration. Firstly you should start with restarting -router and tv, unplug power cord, after cca 1 min reconnect -> test -> let us know..

It would be helpful to know what TV (Brand) or TV OS you point at. But it very much sounds like you are sharing via Chromecast (as you mention Google Photos works). But casting the Screen requires a Miracasts capable TV.... You can still cast the screen from within the Google Home App...
