About the nexus 4? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Would it be smarter for me to order the nexus 4 or just get the s4? Can any of you give me some of your input on the nexus 4 since you've had yours? Are you pleased with it or do you sometimes regret your decision on getting the nexus 4? One more thing, right now I have the s3 and is no 4g really that much of a dealbreker?

Do a search as this question has been asked quite a few times....but in a nutshell if you prefer vanilla over bloatware, great dev support and the latest updates as soon they are released then get a nexus....can't really speak on the s4. Hope it helps..

Dude the S4 is so crippled and packed with 7GB of OS and mostly bloatware that you have too root it and strip down all the not needed apps and widgets. I had all the Galaxy devices but i`am gona skip the S4. The Nexus 4 is realy a breath of fresh air and 50% cheaper. I had the S3 too but wouldnt trade my N4 for one.

Thanks for the response. If I was to get the 8 gb nexus 4,how much of that is formatted before I get it. How about the 16 gb?

I have the 16Gb for a few dollars more, 8 GB is a bit to small for me personaly. About 3 GB is for the OS so 12,8 GB remains for the user. On the 8GB one you have 4,8 GB left.

Don't order yet.....wait until I/o on may 15 , you may see new phone or nexus 4 upgrade..

Waiting 10 days is not same as 5 to 6 months....

We don't know for sure, we pretty sure the nexus will already get lte support
Its definitely worth waiting

I have an s3 currently and am buying a nexus 4 tomorrow. All the bloat on the s3 is leading me to buy a stock Android experience. Nexus 4 ftw.

Ok. No update to the N4, I just went from the n4 to the ONE. it's not worth the $300 difference.
Tapatalk and some apps other is actually slower. The screen is nicer but the camera might actually be worse. It camera is soft under certain conditions and very poor lens flaring.

upgrading from a galaxy nexus, good idea?

I guess I can't turn back now. I already have sold my Galaxy nexus and waiting for the nexus 4 to come out. I just want your guys' opinion. I sold my nexus for 270$, Do you think that was a solid price? The nexus 4 will cost me about a hundred dollars extra (Canadian tax+shipping). Do you think it was a worth upgrade to spend 100$ on? I am getting the 8GB version by the way which is enough for me.
I did the same thing for the same price. I cant wait for my shiny new 4!

Well the guy from computer world that reviewed it said to upgrade from the Gnex. I may wait until closer to christmas time (or black friday) to see if there are super quick deals somewhere.
I guarantee if you wait longer, google will release a 32gb Nexus 4 for 349.99 and the 16gb will get dropped down to 299.99 just like what they did with the Nexus 7's.
I'm keeping my gnex. Don't see any major differences between gnex and nexus 4. Also I'm not a big fan of LG, they don't have a good track record with releasing drivers. Maybe LG will improve but want to wait and see.

That's actually a good deal. However you could get 32GB for same price approximately in the near future.
Sell the GN for about $200ish, then spend about $380 (tax+shipping) for the N4.
If you are financially able to drop around an extra $180 for the upgrade to N4, then yeah it's worth it. But if you're breaking your back to spend that $180 or so, then no it's not worth it as the GN is still more than a capable device.
That should pretty much sum it up. Good luck!

Too late to buy a nexus 7 ?

i know the nexus 7 only came out in june but do you think its to late to buy one because im thinking of grabing one tomorrow or should i wait till the next one comes out :/ ? any input would be appriciated
I would get one now, after all it hasn't been out for long. I would buy one now and enjoy what there is to offer at the present, if you keep waiting for the next piece of hardware you'll never enjoy and appreciate the current technology, and you can always sell it when the "next Nexus 7" is released.

The N7 is an excellent 7" tablet IMO. I'm extremely happy with it, and so is my gf's son who got one for his birthday.
I just picked one up about 2 weeks ago and I have zero regrets. It's a beast that handles anything I throw at it.

The only question to ask is Do you get 32gb or the 16gb.. Or WiFi or 3g if available where you are.

I went 16GB wifi because I have a 32 GB phone if I need it. However, Gamestop had a $50 off deal and there was only one 16GB available. Might need to go 32 regardless. Good buy though, I just got mine a couple days ago. I don't need a huge tablet, I wanted more of a reader and this blows the Kindle away.

OP Get the tablet you will not regret . But i recommend getting the 32 gb.. Get the gsm one if you can not tether it to your phone. other wise the wifi would be fine.. its what i have .. DO NOT LOOK BACK OR WAIT. the next best thing is the Nexus line..

You most definitely won't be sorry. I think if anything you were smart to wait since the 32gb was release and the 16 gb was dropped to $199.99.
A new nexus tablet probably won't come out at least for another 7 months anyway. Just enjoy the hell out of it.

I think you should go for a Wifi version if you already have a phone.
Since the next-gen Nexus is no way to come out soon, and new version changes nothing in performance but has 3g and more storage capacity, and the price of nexus 7 16gb wifi dropped. I think Nexus 7 16gb is the optimized choice atm.

[Q] 32GB rumour

Hey all. I know we're all really excited for Google I/O and I was just wondering how accurate the 32GB Nexus 4 rumour was. My GS3 was sent for repair yesterday (for the second time in a year) and was seriously considering getting a Nexus. If there is a bigger storage option being unveiled then I'd quite appreciate it, but if it's unlikely I'll make do with the 16GB. What do people think?
Sure you can't wait another 5 days? https://developers.google.com/events/io/

So the main keynote is over and there doesn't appear to be any new nexus hardware whatsoever. Just the pure GS4. Is it safe to assume no 32gb will arrive? Really want to order it now.

The Nexus 4 is fast and easy to root. It also has many kernel and ROM versions customized by the developers. Unless you have to have a Galaxy S4 or HTC One, the Nexus is the phone to have.

If you have a phone at the moment and you're not in a hurry then wait for the next nexus. Keep in mind the next nexus should come by the end of the year, and it will be sold out at first and there will be problems with availability. Most probably you won't get your hands on one before january.

I know, I still have 4 gigs left even with 3gigs of music and 2 2gigs data games on it.
But 2 gigs on a 16 doesn't feel good to me, it would be better if we can just relax about storage without limiting some apps and games and pulling NAND backups every now and then. 32 gigs would've been perfect...

[Q] worth picking up?

I tried to get one for months when it was new, settled for a gs4 since getting a 4 at the time was near impossble. I'm not sure if the 5 will be as bad. My question is, should I wait for the 5 or should I buy a local one from CL for $200? Its a 16gb model...not sure if $200 is too much.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
$200 is a good price, how many other phones out there that have the same spec as the Nexus 4 that you can buy for $250 new unlocked? Switching to the N4 is a downgrade or sideway at best, because you get worse camera and no microSD storage. The positive is come in if you are some one who flash alot of custom roms or want to run latest Android version at all time.
Your S4 is a good phone, just wait till the Nexus 5 become available, if you're happy with the S4 and can install KitKat on it, you might not need to get the Nexus 5 at all.
