Lewy24001 did a great job on this firmware, I ran it through a bunch of standard benchmarks. If anyone wants to take a look at its performance on the MK808B.

Also did a screencast of XMBC running 720p over wifi, in HD. I'm pretty impressed, recording HD while play HD, dual core madness!

Hi,
Did anyone here managed to play HD videos of 1080p or 720p format? I only managed to play 360p on my phone.
Not possible..Im mean they will play in Rockplayer 1.5.5 ARm6...but will lag sufficiently and not allow you to enjoy movie smoothly...
I think about 620 p should be fine in Rockplayer..or yxplayer...not above that..you will have to resize them...
Even 720p is quite laggy with rock player. Processor is just not fast enough
Why would you want to when the screen doesn't have the resolution to show any difference?

@bullchicken: it's just that my friends had gave me lots of 1080p HD MVs but I couldn't played it. He is able to play all HD videos in his Samsung Galaxy though. Maybe you're right due to legend processor limitation but i'm wondering if there is any customized/tweaked ROM which able to support it.
How's MP4 video playback with recent versions of CM7? I'm running Phiremod 6.2, which is based on CM7.02 and it's decidedly sub par. Not nearly as good as stock 1.1.0
There are many topics about this matter.
After 5.x Phiremod versions, having some good player (like Vplayer) someone could enjoy even matroska videos at 720p.
Mp4 play also fine as avi

Thanks. I'll give that a try. I've tried both the included viewer and MoboPlayer and, while MP4 movies play OK, framerate is not up to the standards of stock 1.1.
Well, I tried Vplayer Pro and was generally disappointed. Seems that nothing plays as smoothly and transparently as stock 1.1.0. It's unfortunate, even the official Barnes & Noble OS upgrade doesn't play video as smoothly as the earlier OS releases.
I'm sure hoping we get an update at some point that brings back true, cinema quality playback.
The next CM7 nightly should have decidedly better video playback.

Oooh, can't wait! Getting video back to something like 1.1 stock would make my day. I converted over 100 of my DVDs back when I was running Autonootered 1.1, and playback was flawless then. If Barnes & Noble could also improve the speed of the Nook App for Android then I'd have a device that could easily last me a couple of years before I get the itch to upgrade.
BTW: the work you guys do is amazing.
Slightly off topic, but the Netflix app, on the other hand, has beautiful video quality.
Here it is link
Big improvement.
That really is big change. Hopefully developers get that to custom roms!
how about flash video in browser, 720p youtube for example?

just tested it. not a single lag at 720p on youtube with flash on opera. With cm7 it lagged like hell.
Also, the GPU has been fixed so you can forward the video and it will not give you "This video is not available." when watching videos from the internet.

Υeah thats right big 3d graphics improvement, nenamark2 i get 31fps (thats even higher than dual core htc sensation) I updated first post with a new link taken with lgcamera (720p 30fps , acc stereo sound 128 kbps 48khz). The quality of sound and video is better on the file i got on my pc. thats because youtube compressed the file and made it from 8200kbps to 3000kbps
Now we have real 720p recording. for me this was the major improvement of 2.3.5
Could someone also post some photos?
Along with some info (native camera app, lgcamera)
So I was just wondering if anyone was an expert on the difference between older tegra dualcore devices vs the newer tegra 3 chips.
I just recently grabbed a Xoom and love it. Really excited about the stock Google experience and googles continued commitment to releasing jellybean to the device.
Am I missing out an any real life performance boosts by sticking with the older dual core chip? To be honest the improvements look to be minor from what I can see.

The differences are minor.
Slightly better performance, supports more video codecs natively, better battery life. I would return the xoom if you paid $250+ for it though if you plan on rooting/roming it. Its a good but old device. I would return it just because you need software decoding for 720p video files because its Q2 2012. You are missing out on some stuff but not much depending on your uses.

My xoom runs 720p (mkv) with h/w. I'm using latest Team EOS nightly and i use MX Player for videos. 720p works perfectly, but 1080p can only be played with full hd monitor or tv (with hdmi).

it depends on how the video is encoded, if you read the the older threads the xoom stuggles with certain video profiles @ 720p
Still, I want native codec support from the processor instead of having to rely on players like diceplayer to play video files.
Ya I just threw on a 720p video and it wasn't playing that smoothly. I had to install BSplayer to get it to work flawlessly. I'm okay with using a player to get videos running like they should. So far its the only weakness I see with this tablet. Can't complain.

Just released!! Been waiting for an update that would address the video playback. Going to flash it and give my opinion soon.

ok I flashed it....overall performance improved, the UI has been revamped and they also added TV Launcher, video playback issues have been fixed it seems.

My initial testing was just with the stock video player, I'm sure MX Player works great but haven't tried it yet since the update. It does play 1080P flawlessly. I dont use netflix so can't comment on that but, you tube also works perfect. The mk908II is in the top 3 at the moment imo, well worth the money.

XBMC has never been 100% stable on Android, so any issues it might have would attributed to XBMC and not the device.
I don't use XBMC so I can't really say more than that
Even with the newest update I can't watch 1080p movies without a slight choppyness. It doesn't seem much but it's very irritating when having to look at it.

Are you using the correct power source? I had intermittent problems when using 500mA supply. Everything gone with a 2A supply.

It's not the power adapter problem, rockchip rk3188 stock rom all have those problem, but developer on freaktab.com already released frame fix custom rom, you should check that.
how it works
