Facebook games on Nexus 4.... - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
How can we play facebook games on Nexus 4? These games require Adobe flash player 11.1 and now Adobe has discontinue its support to Android. You cant even get the flash player from Google Play Store
I'm a huge fan of Farmville and Criminal case and I cant play these games on Nexus 4 (at least till now).
I tried them on Opera, Chrome, UC and Firefox to no avail...
Is anyone able to play facebook games on this phone?
I could not find any threads related to this issue so creating this thread. Please post your experiences.

Thanks for your reply. So isn't there any way to have the flash player working on Nexus 4?

You can get flash player on the Nexus 4. The issue is using flash to play those games since you can't even access those facebook games.
You can check if the developer of the Facebook games have made Apps for them on the play store
Here is the link to Flash for Jelly Bean on the Nexus 4:

Good luck

Surprisingly you can install adobe flash for ICS even on jellybean.
Have a look here to grab the latest flash version (link in the thread): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2042464

Thanks! I installed in on my phone but to no avail. Let me check with Firefox....

i totally love songpop and draw something

You can't play those games on your phone. Please don't do that to such a nice device. Poor nexus.
Sorry I just hate Facebook games.
I'm sure its mainly a browser issue. Browser and flash have to be married in harmony for things to work right.

I installed and checked with Firefox beta. It's always redirecting to Farmville express (even if the check box for loading desktop version is checked) and for Criminal case it is showing that the game is loading but even after loading it 100% it is not going to actual game
Any suggestions?

It's not going to work buddy. Stop trying. No browser available in the play store will allow you to play Facebook games.

Not strictly true, I had Bejewelled Blitz playing on Firefox only yesterday but is was so slow it was unplayable. Even the daily spin took about 2 minutes. The game itself was like it was running in monthly instalments.
But it did run...

Slow flash on Nexus One

So flash 10.1 final just came out and I've been trying to play around with it. I notice that many flash, especially flash games are running very slow(try armor games), also some flash video. It seems YouTube is the smoothest one. Can anybody else confirm your flash performance or is it just me?

You don't have any lag or anything? Even with full flash games? Try crush the castle 2 on armor games.

Plenty of lag here trying some flash games on facebook. Not smooth at all (using dolphin HD).
Have you guys tried double-tapping the game or video to make it fullscreen? That always works for me.

That doesn't really change the fact that the game's slow.

Well, it could, because in full screen it might be using HW acceleration. Don't know if that's the way it's implemented, though.
vimeo.com always played slow for me.

I tried playing crush the castle 2 and it played smoothly, audio wasnt choppy at all and gameplay didnt lagg one bit.
So to people lagging:
1. Which rom are you using?
2. Do you have extra windows open in the browser, what programs are running in the background?
Try restarting your device, and open a flash game without opening anything but the browser. Try with fullscreen and regularly.

I'm using latest CM nightly. Maybe it's the background programs since I never use any task killer app and I have maybe 50 apps installed on the phone together. Also I'm using Dolphin browser HD.
I'll try restart the phone fresh and see how it goes.

Using the Rodgriguez ROM and dolphin HD. Don't have any other tab opened but Im sure I have some apps running in the background. phone is overclocked to 1.113gh
Just tried the full screen mode and it helps a little but not much. I think it's the game that I am playing that's causing the lag (Restaurant City). LOL
I just rebooted my phone and tried crush the castle 2 on armor games. The game still ran very slow. Maybe I need to wipe the cache to do a clean install of ROM? I haven't wiped for a while.

Well I guess maybe it's because of the ROM then. CM maybe uses too much system resource and is not optimized.

Try revert back to flash 10.1 beta 3 version. Flash 10.1 final is terribly slow while beta 3 performs quite smoothly on most games and videos. Those who had no issues most likely still on beta 3.

[Experiment] gameloft compatibility

I'm curious on what gameloft games are available on their website with different devices on the build prop. Use a root file manager and go to system/build.prop and see what device it shows you have. Here's mine.

I'd be curious about availability vs. actually working and the gameloft site vs. Play Store. I've never been able to make Asphalt 6 work on any ICS rom, but I know at least Gedemis has with his ROM. Makes me wonder if there might be differences between play store and gameloft website versions of the same game.

It really depends on what you mean by flash videos. The FLV video format is supported by a number of apps on the play store (VPlayer is one example).
The official Adobe Flash Player app is confirmed as working (there is a thread in this section id you search for it titled '[Q] Does Adobe Flash Player install/work on Jelly Bean?'). However, Adobe have stated that they will not support 4.1 and later, and will drop support completely after August 15th.
Short answer: Yes, it will work without support from Adobe. It may stop working at any point in the future.
Ok thanks heaps.
Just one question, will I be able to use the chrome browser with Adobe flash player? Or would I need to use a different browser?
Cheers

Adobe will be removing the flash app from the market, so make sure you save a copy of the APK
I have personally confirmed that flash works with 4.1 on firefox. But any browser that says it supports flash should work.
Chrome will not.
and as Censura said, save a copy of the APK because on August 15th it's being removed from the market for new downloads.
OK thanks heaps, I can't wait for my n7 to arrive now

I restored a previous backup. Ditto with the fullscreen crashing, both in Dolphin HD and Opera Mobile browsers.
Kind of bummed too, since one of the main purposes of finding a reason to buy the N7 in the first place was to be able to watch anime on it. Usually 5 out of 6 alternate video links are flash, and the html5 won't full screen..
Is there an addon or app that can be installed that would take over the inline streamed feed?
is there anyway to watch noobroom.com videos on nexus 7 ?

Great site, thanks
I loaded up 'the Raven' on Mozilla and looks like it let me go to the full screen without crashing, if the other videos are using the same embedded then it should work no problem but if not then use my 'trick' for those
thanks everyone, I'll try sideloading firefox later today with the plugin.

You Tube offline watch it later. Possible ?

The last version of youtube enables the preloading (caching) of all the videos you add in the watch later playlist. But it needs to be online in order to play them, for some crappy reason. Is there a way to bypass that and play all the videos in "watch later" while offline?
Some info on this feature and the crap reason.
YouTube, careful to draw a distinction between this and total downloading of its vids (which breaks its terms of service), is careful to point out that you’ll still need to be online for the first second when you press play.

Just use a YouTube down loader. I know its one extra step but if its worth the extra step then do it.
Use PVSTAR+ as player - it searches and shows youtube vids, and stores them in a cache. You can also copy them out of the cache and they are normal mp4 files. (it also has a mp3 mode, which only downloads the music part it seems). The app also runs in background and with screen off. Completely replaced youtube app with it.
(it also searches on dailymotion and i think you can add other sites)
