[Q] Can I activate the VZW 8X on Sprint? - Windows Phone 8 General

I just read an article about the Verizon 8X being unlocked, does that mean I could use it with Sprint. I know it all comes down to who you talk to and if they're actually willing to, but I just want to know if its possible?

No, sprint won't accept non sprint phones.

They can't because its not possible? Or they just won't? Different things.

It's very possible, but they just won't.

Verizon?

Sorry if this has been asked but searching google and the forums has turned up nothing conclusive. Is it possible to use the EVO on verizon (3g only obviously), or is it still locked to sprint? Thanks!
From what I understand it roams on Verizon when they have coverage and Sprint doesn't.

I think what he is asking is whether or not he can get it unlocked to use on Verizon services.
Im new to CDMA, so i would hesitate to answer this, but i just wanted to clarify his question.

the incredible is verizons nexus one
Simple answer: No, it won't happen.
Hard answer is: it could...illegal ways that cannot be spoken of on this forum. And the likely hood you will have everything working right on it...slim...data has always been a pain when you move carriers.
VZW Evo is the Droid Shadow, or Droid 2, or w/e its going to be named. Which probly wont come out to late June, or early july.
AndroidCentral: Droid Shadow

Galaxy Note on Simple Mobile.

I did a search and found nothing on the GT Note using simple Mobile.
Has anyone tried this as yet, and can you tell us what the speeds are like so far.
And what package did you go with.
Looks like they use T-Mobile's network, which means nothing over EDGE speeds.
I'm running one of the AT&T MVNOs on a trial basis and so far I have not been disappointed. I am loathe to give up my T-Mobile plan but unless there's a breakthrough in getting 1700/2100 AWS working on this thing I might have to make the move permanently.
AT&T GoPhone offers unlimited everything for $50 a month pay-as-you-go fyi.

Go phone sim cards are locked to the phone now. Unless you can convince AT&T to give you a new unlocked one it doesn't work.

I know this is old.....but just wanted to update it. I am using AT&T version with Simple Mobile now. The internet speed sucks big time. On speed test, i am consistently getting 25kb/s. With that speed, I am changing to the International Note next week....

You can flash a T-Mobile compatible modem on the AT&T version, if you're not aware.

Is there a solution to STILL using ATT GO Phone plans with our GN7000's?
thanks.
You need Straight Talk with the AT&T sim.

What about this? As long as you aren't using any device which has ever been AT&T branded in any way shape or form (like an unlocked Note), this should work just fine!

HTC Droid Incredible used $105 [with shipping]

Hey Guys,
Great deal on Ebay; there's droid incredibles that are refurbished (in B+ condition, I assume that it means near perfect but still a little handled)
for $105. Not a bad price for a phone.

The ebay description claims that it is locked to verizon,
I have never owned an CDMA phone so I don't know if XDA has ways to make it unlocked for any CDMA carrier
you can get it on other CDMA carriers (Cricket, Boost) pretty easily using EPST, but you cannot get it on any GSM carriers.

Yeah, I believe you can update it.
I think even the oldest android phone, the g1, can be updated to 2.3, so I don't think you have to worry about anything

Yeah, its definitely not a super new phone.
This is more of an "if you need a backup or international travel", and less of "hot of the press" deal
Well thats true i forgot about the global capabilities

What I want to know is, if I switch to Verizon, can I still use the Same device I used from Sprint? Because Sprint is one of the worst carrier I've ever had, damn so disappointed.

It seems to work fine in the Bay Area, sucks here in Central valley. Time to switch carrier.

Will XDA create a verizon htc 10 only forum ???

Just curious as its kind of confusing when scrolling through this forum.

It's not the same device as the unlocked as Verizon has unleashed it's world of pain on the device. Also can't use HTC Dev.

But then you could argue that there isn't any development on it, unless you S-Off (via mail in currently) then it does become like a normal 10!

Still not exactly the same. Verizon tends to neuter bands and very rarely can you flash a non vzw rom to a vzw branded phone. LTE/CDMA differences. Pain in the arse kind of thing

Is this something that can easily be done, or are there hoops to jump through? I have no familiarity with the process, so i a just asking?
I was wondering why I couldn't find the Verizon specific forum... There really should be one before someone doesn't read and ends up bricking their phone. Historically there have been carrier specific forums for other devices and it makes sense.
I'll put it to the forum owners. They make the call on what forums get added.
