Have you tried another HDMI cord or using the built in speaker connections? Personally I have had two bad HDMI cables in the last month that experienced similar issues. You might even try the optical output as well if you can. These still have a warranty. Contact Google for help.

i bought it from some guy that attended google IO. where can i get another cable? hdmi or something else

Any micro-hdmi cable will do.
I'm having the same issue though.

just tried the q on a different tv, worked right away....... my main living room big tv has only worked like 5 out of a billion tries

Tv out?

Has anyone tried to use tv out on the fascinate? Its the main reason I got the phone only to find out it may not have this function like the other galaxy s phones. Does anyone have a cord to try it with?

I would but damn, 50 bucks for the Micro USB to HDMI cable from samsung.
I'm more interested in the rca out from the headphone jack actually
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Tried earlier with a Zune video cable but no luck. May be the cable however, can't ring it out to confirm until Monday.
Any links to confirm pinout of the headphone connector on the Fascinate in the meantime?
I saw a video earlier today showing a prevew of the 3.5mm jack to rca on the international galaxy s, and it was enabled through settings > sound & display, but looking at my phone, I do not see tv out and sub menu that the person navigated in order to enable tv out.
Hmm.
sorry double post
I was looking for this function too and can confirm it is not listed under the settings. How likely is it that the hardware was changed to remove this feature?
It looks like there are still four contacts inside the 3.5mm jack on the phone. I'm hoping that means the hardware hasn't been changed and only the software so that someone can potentially get the tv out function working on the fascinate

I hope so, was really looking forward to playing NES/SNES via a bluetooth controller (Wii Remote, anyone?) on a TV from my Fascinate!
Itll work just swap the red n yellow cables

i ordered a 3.5mm jack to rca cable, will see if it works when it gets here.
It was tested on a captivate and worked, so we will see, it was cheap so no big deal.
All I have at my disposal right now is a 3.5mm Stereo Plug To Dual RCA Jack Adapter but all it has is red and white. Will testing that lead to anything while I wait for the other cable?
Plug the red where the yellow go n the white in its right place. Make sure you have tv out selected in settings first. It should show on your tv.

Some of you proabably already know this, but for those of you who don't, check this out. If you have a PS3, and it's connected to your home network, you can stream movies off your phone, through the PS, onto your TV, using the AllShare app. It's not the greatest quality, but certainly ups the wow factor of this phone when you demonstrate it for your friends. Also, if your TV is networked as well, you can use your phone as a remote to stream the movies on your computer to your TV, and these play in excellent quality.

Unless samsung removed that feature, it should be in. They claimed the galaxy S line did t.v. out. I know i tested on the vibrant and it worked for all but copy protected movies.

I think for whatever reason, some settings that come with other galaxy s phones, do not come with the fascinate. The obvious one is tv out, then I also read about being able to change the font to a few different preset options, but also cannot locate that feature. There are probably more left out features that I don't know about, due to never playing with any of the other galaxy s variants.

It is definetly not in the software options, however I would not be suprised if Samsung left it out (it is not on the Epic 4g either) until 2.2 so as to help promote the HDMI output option as well. (Why buy RCA for $10 when you can get HDMI for $50 mentality)
Just speculation on my part, I have no idea why the option does not appear. However I would really like to see someone compare the dumps from on of the other US models and compare to see if we can add it in

look in the sounds and display options. it's the last option in that menu on Vibrant.
As said previously the option is not there on the samsung fascinates menu.
I have the cable and it worked on my Captivate, but I dont have a Fascinate in front of me (yet). I would assume with no setting to turn on, you (we, since I have two on order) are out of luck. I know with my Captivates, it worked only when enabled. Mine should be here the 22nd and then I can check.

Broken Slimport Adapter??

Hi all
I bought one of these from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Slimport-HDMI-adapter-Connect-projector/dp/B009UZBLSG/ref=cm_rdp_product however when I try to use it nothing happens
just wondering if anyone else has one of these, does the screen rotate to Landscape when you put just the adapter in (Not connected to a HDMI cable?)
I have tried it on a TV that has HDMI and as a long shot i tried it on my HDMI->DVI lead that connects my monitor to my PC - No go in both cases
Not sure at this stage if the adapter is broken, or my Phone isnt working.

No problem here. The screen doesn't rotate until the HDMI end is plugged in the TV.
How much are these selling for?
Tried it on 4 TVs now with lots of different HDMI cables and it doesnt seem to work, so that leaves either a faulty adapter or faulty Nexus 4!
(I am right in thinking its just plug and play, i dont need to enable anything on my N4?)

Correct. In my case it only rotates when I plug in the HDMI cable and it works beautifully. No issues whatsoever. I hope it's the adapter and not your phone!

I have one from the same source and it works like a charm via an 83p HDMI cable (similar source) to all 3 TV sets I've tried it with.
I bought one from Amazon here in the US, via http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009UZBLSG/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
got it Christmas eve, plugged into TV1 didn't work, thought it was my HDMI cable, tried it with TV2, worked right away. went back to TV1, didn't work, went back to TV2, didn't work. Reboot, didn't work, fiddled with the cable, worked for a few minutes, then stopped working.
Everytime I want to watch something, I spend about 15-20 minutes jiggling the adapter, unplugging, replugging the adapter to get it working again. 2 nights ago, I watched a movie, it worked, every minute or so it would give me a snow screen for half a second. Last night tried to watch another movie, spend 30 minutes with it, won't come on.
A friend has a N4 as well, going to go to his house tonight to see is it the adapter or my phone
edit: I went to my friend's home and tested it using his Xbox360 HDMI connection, neither his phone or my phone would display video, his TV simply said "no signal" I am sending it back to Amazon, and getting a full refund. Probably going to just grab a PTV3000 instead

I am sending it back to shipper for full refund. Only getting the refund because they cant provide me with a replacement at the moment.
Quite dissapointed that it didnt work Might have to look into Mirracast!
Does only the PTV3000 support Mirracast or will anything that supports intel Widi work? Such as this.. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-ScreenCast-Adapter-Windows-Wireless/dp/B0061KCPF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357778497&sr=8-1

Any one know?
It has to be Miracast compliant to work with the Nexus 4. That Belkin thing will NOT work with the N4. The Belkin is WiDi not Miracast.
The only wireless adapters on the market currently that are tested and known to work (with beta software) are:
Netgear Push2TV PTV3000
Actiontec SBWD100KIT01 ScreenBeam Wireless Adapter/Kit
Both can be found on Amazon. The Netgear can also be found in some Best Buy stores.
(I own the Netgear one and can confirm from 1st hand, daily use, that it does work with the N4.)

The Nexus 5 uses a Slimport adapter.
They are not compatible, although they look similar.

[Q] Can We use the jack output to video out?

Hy guys!
I just found a jack to compozit cable in my cabinet. It has a Jack father and an RCA (red-white-yellow) father. I have got a pic, but Im new in here, so I cant link...
So, I just wondering, can we use this cable to connect the N7 to a TV?
I know, at the moment we can't, but why? Because the hardware limitation, or the android doesn't support this feature?

As far as I know, you'd just be transporting the audio if you were to plug it into any device. You'd have to have an extra adapter to port the video through the yellow composite video cable.
Though people have been known to make some wicked little mods, so you never know these days.
Nexus 7 does not have the hardware capability.

You could always use an MHL adapter to output to a TV, that is if the Nexus 7 supports that method. I've never tried it.

HDMI mirroring issue

Hello everyone, I got an 11 pin mhl to HDMI converter and trying to mirror it to tv but it does not display anything on TV.
I got it from amazon cable masters brand
Just to be sure I also bought similar dongle but another brand. Same did not work with my phone. Not sure if anybody has issue with this.It does say hdmi connected but nothing displays on tv.
If anyone knows any product that worked for them can you please post or help me why it's not working. Thanks!
That's why I prefer to stick with oem products. The mhl 2.0 Samsung part does mirror. At least from the YouTube video I have seen. You could try rebooting the phone too. Custom roms might interfere with this too. Idk

I use the OEM mhl/hdmi and the 11 pin for the s4- works fine.
Make sure that the cable connects complete if you keep the s4 case on, otherwise take the case off
My cases are different thicknesses from the s3 to s4 and I have to have the case off for it to work well on my S4.
Also, try plugging it in to the phone AFTER you connect the power to the mhl and hdmi to the TV.
You might also consider rebooting before your plug try plugging it in to see if it makes a difference. The reason I say that is when I use the all share hub to show video via wi-fi, MX player sometimes has the audio and video not synced right, after I reboot, it is synced fine. I know that isn't your exact issue here, I'm just saying sometimes the reboot helps if you're like me and leave your phone on constantly without rebooting.
One other thought that was mentioned earlier - if you're on a custom rom, make sure it supports it.
And of course, you can just pick up an OEM (since you have the 11pin adapter) for around $10-15 on amazon and return it easy if it doesn't work on your S4 and if you're not on a custom ROM, you can point your finger at the S4 port:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-EIA1UHUNBE-SGH-I777-T-Mobile-SGH-T989/dp/B006FYXL2O
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Adapter-Hdmi-3Fhu-Galaxy/dp/B0080CXSOU
Students get free prime (2day shipping) for a few months, and caregivers too..(aka amazon mom but includes a whole slew of folks also)
You could probably do this: http://itvirtualevent.com/juniperwlan/index.php and let it run in the background, get your amazon gift card and you're cable is mostly paid for (I just saw the link today, so I can't vouch for it, but it's an easy $10 giftcard if it is what is says)...

HDMI issues real? (about to buy)

First of all, I've read the prior threads, but my question is contextual, so please bear with me.
I currently have an Acer 500 which I use for web, email, RSS on a daily basis. On trips the HDMI-out is a lifesaver in the evening at the hotel, as anyone with kids will attest to.
In the spirit of Father's Day the Boss has authorized an upgrade, handing the A500 down to my kids for homework use.
I understand there are 2 HDMI issues with the N10:
- Scaling
(fixed in Videos and MXPlayer, and possibly with newly discovered code/app)
- Compatibility
no sound via HDMI
no video with certain TVs
I don't care about scaling, and can live with letterboxed video.
Just how bad are the TV compatibility issues, really? I know HDCP can wreak havoc between devices, but both the Acer and SGIII have worked well with every TV I've tried them with; I have decent cables/adapters. Is the problem a connector issue, or is there an inherent issue with the N10 HDMI pathway hardware? If' it's just the plug, I can return it until I get one that works. If it's the intrinsic hardware, this would be a show stopper for me.
Again, I know the prior threads on this issue, but I'm trying to gauge if this is an unfixable issue for most people.
TIA.
From what I've heard and seen, compatibility with older Panasonic-based TV's (VIERA for example) might be somewhat bad. The VIERA TV I have has working video, but no audio. Some no-name HDMI TV my friend has (can't think of the actual name) works fine for both video and audio.
Not sure if there's any general rule or anything that determines compatibility though, or how other devices handle TV's...

HDMI with video and audio work perfectly fine to most things, the problem is not that HDMI simply doesnt work but rather that certain companies do not conform to all standards properly and this causes compatibility issues. As Espionage said, Panasonic's are the big one with no audio, and Sony Bravia's also tend to have issues. I use my Nexus 10 to go into my Onkyo receiver which then passes video on to my Panasonic plasma and audio goes to my speakers. It works perfect except for the obvious scaling issue because it is not trying to send a 1080p signal. That is easy enough to live with or you can do the workaround to make it perfect if you really care that much.
The thing that sucks though is just that hotels have all sorts of TV brands, so compatibility will just be hit and miss depending on which models of TV they choose to have.
Most of the time , hdmi doesnt have sound .
Many incompatibility tv s .
I personally have a pan 30gt ... No sound .

When you say that the video is fixed in MXPlayer, where did you see/read this? I would be interested to know because I heard it was coming but for me the scaling is not yet fixed.

and what is the price ? im looking for something in good price i found some from connection lab and try to find out if its really good
Guys, Can anyone confirm if Nexus 10 needs to charging for the HDMI out to work? My nexus 10 doesn't output via HDMI if its not connected to power.
I get no sound through my Viera too, it's pretty damn annoying actually. Regardless of their HDMI 'compatibility restrictions' or whatever, all other devices work correctly with it including my Galaxy S3 and a whole assortment of cameras, PC's and gaming consoles. Hoping for a fix in 4.3.
connectionlab is good!
So far so good. Couple of days ago I asked you about connectionlab brand, but since I have no responses I thought I'll give a chance and bought ConnectionLAB HDC-10 Premium 10m HDMI CABLE. Is beautiful!
I have to say that I'm really pleased with my new baby. Seriously, you get a good quality for a good price. My friend bought a cheap hdmi cable and sait it broke down into 2 after 15 minutes! But this one from connectionlab seems like a good choice
