Dual Boot any ICS Rom with [ROM][CM10][4.1.1 JB] Kaffee4Eck | CM10 -> Online v2 [27.0
Hello People,
After the release of CM10 preview everyone has been eager to keep CM10 on dual boot so that we can use our daily driver (ICS) and also enjoy the awesomeness of JB CM10.
(I am not responsible for any bricked devices or accessories follow the guide at your own risk, tested and working perfect on my SII)
Thanks a lot to pSyCh¤_O_O who fond out a way to dual boot any ICS Rom with Kaffee4Eck | CM10, also many thanks to Kaffee4Eck for making a wonderful rom and obviously thanks to codeworkx xplodwild and other who made JB Possible... and thanks to CM team and team Skyfire for the awesome kernel
Now the steps :
1) Install Dream kernel with CWM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788021
2) Very very important create a nandroid backup
3) Go to recovery - dual boot options - and select wipe second rom data/cache( to do this step successfully you should have 2gb free on internal sdcard and this step will take 5-10 mins for the first time)
4) wipe second rom dalvik cache
5) Select Clone 1st rom to second rom wait 5-15 mins till its completed
6) go the the main screen of your recovery and install Kaffee4Eck | CM10
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797821
(IMPORTANT : when installing this rom in Aroma options please custom install and then uncheck CM10 kernel otherwise the rom will not boot, again uncheck CM10 kernel install in aroma options)
Install dream kernel
7) In the main menu of recovery wipe data/ factory reset
8) Install jelly bean gapps or reboot
9) Now you have CM10 as you primary and your regular rom as secondary
IMPORTANT : This method only works with the following pre requisites
You need to use dream kernel for both the roms
your daily rom should be installed and set up proir to all the steps above
when installing Kaffee4Eck | CM10 uncheck CM10 kernel from aroms options ( custom install)
This method is only tested and working with Kaffee4Eck | CM10 because as of now that is the only CM10 rom that comes with Aroma installer which allows to uncheck CM10 kernel installation.
Please let me know if it works

First - thx for this method.
But - do you know what me made leaving the thread and don't share the thread?
"Pls hit Thx if I helped" :banghead:
When will people understand?
If your Thread is good users will hit "Thanks" - but not with this sentence at the end!
BTW - it is ok to ask for thx (for example if there is no way to donate to you) but then you can write something like "If you like my work I would be happy about a simple Thx"
Your sentence is more like
"I helped - eh? So now hit Thx!"

So, due to the huge amount of threads with information for the X8 I found, I think getting the info you need is pretty confusing.
Not saying that this is THE guide for everything, but it should sum it all up nicely.
A Warning
First off, let me start by saying that if you don't think you need rooting, don't root.
It can be dangerous if done wrong, so be sure you know what you're doing.
With that out of the way, let's get going then.
Updates and Basebands
First, before you do anything else, you need to update your phone using PC Companion (download here: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/pccompanion/xperiax8?cc=us&lc=en). PC Companion will guide you right through all the steps for updating.
The latest version is 2.1.1.A.0.6, and the latest baseband is M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015.
You can check your version by going to Settings -> About Phone.
If you are already running a custom ROM, you should update using PC Companion too, because some roms (like MiniCM) need the latest official version.
Advanced
If you need basebands for your X8, here's a helpful thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976538
Flash them with FlashTool.
Rooting
This is very simple to do, really.
First, download SuperOneClick (thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682) and place it on your desktop.
Next, on your phone, go to Settings -> Applications and enable Unknown Sources. Next, go to Settings -> Applications -> Development and enable USB debugging.
You also need the proper USB drivers. To check if you have them, start SuperOneClick.exe and click Driver Check. If the driver check fails, update your phone with PC Companion.
Now, connect your USB cable from your X8 to your computer. When connected it is VERY IMPORTANT to select CHARGE PHONE. Really, I can't stress this enough.
Start SuperOneClick.exe and just click ROOT. Everything should go normally. You might get a message asking you if your OS is 2.0 or higher, just go ahead and click Yes.
You should now be rooted!
xRecovery
YOU MUST BE ROOTED TO DO THIS
Installing xRecovery is the first step in the world of custom ROMs. Installing xRecovery also means if you are stuck in a bootloop, you can just recover to a working backup.
The first step is to download xRecovery mini-beta 0.1 (any other version WILL NOT work on your X8) (download HERE: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8AJTKDTQ).
Next, download Root Explorer (download HERE: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LGC110EX).
Copy both the xRecovery folder and the Root Explorer .apk to your SD card.
Install any file manager from the Android Market (I recommend OI File Manager or Astro) and use it to browse to the Root Explorer .apk file and install it.
Run Root Explorer, browse to the xRecovery folder and copy the 3 files inside onto the /system/bin folder.
xRecovery is installed. To start xRecovery you press the Back button while the Sony Ericsson logo is showing during boot. Restart your phone and just keep pressing the Back button.
To move around in xRecovery you use the volume buttons, to select an item you press the Home button (the middle one), and to go back you press the Back button. Go ahead and make a backup of your current system (make sure you have at least 300MB of free space on your SD card.
You'll find the backup you just made in the xRecovery/backup folder. Name it something you can identify (don't use spaces). Copy that backup onto somewhere safe on your PC.
Backups are REALLY important, don't be a lazy bum.
So, you bricked your phone.
Don't panic, don't worry, everything is going to be alright. If you have xRecovery installed, just recover the latest backup you made. That simple. If, however, you DON'T have xRecovery installed, we can still recover your dear phone, don't worry
Using PC Companion: Connect your phone to your PC and turn it on. Look around the update phone section of PC Companion for an option called "Repair your phone". Just follow the steps and your phone will be in working order pretty soon
That's about it, I'll probably add a section for custom ROMs in the future, with links to ROMs I recommend.
So, if you have any questions, feel free to post below
Custom ROMs
Alright, when it comes to custom ROMs, it's mainly personal preference. I'll list some ROMs I've tried (and recommend)
For Beginners!
If you're flashing your first custom ROM, and you want a ROM that you can use daily, miniCM is probably your best option. I have tested and can vouch for both of these ROMs.
Floyo 2.2.1 miniCM 1.0.0RC2 by ponanovn (CyanogenMod 6): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964223
Really simple ROM, basically everything you need to get started in the custom ROM world. The fact that it has CyanogenMod 6 is kind of a disadvantage comparing to for example, Racht's or Jerpelea's ROMs (they use CyanogenMod 7).
It features dualtouch which means pinch zoom is working. To activate it, put one finger on the screen then another finger. Then spread your fingers. The SD Card safe to remove bug is finally fixed with the latest revision!
Not working: Compass isn't working, some Bluetooth headsets are bugged.
Rating: [ ]
Floyo 2.2.1 miniCM by lizypen (CyanogenMod 6): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036335
Very easy and very smooth, a perfect ROM for beginners! Battery life is better then average, because it isn't overclocked to an extreme level. Like Ponanovn's rom, it uses CM6.
Not working: Same as ponanovn's miniCM.
Rating: [ ]
More advanced ROMs
These use CyanogenMod 7, and the reason why I say these are more advanced ROMs are that they need a little more configuration to get up and running then these miniCM roms.
Racht's HackDroid GingerBread (CyanogenMod 7): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914513
Racht is an amazing cooker, and it really shines through in this ROM. This features GingerBread (Android 2.3.3). It's really nice, it just takes a little bit more configuration.
UPDATE 25/04: Racht updated his rom! No more SD-Card safe to remove crashes, which also means this is the most stable rom to date. Thanks Racht!
Not working: Camera.
Rating: [ ]
I'll add a review of Jerpelea's ROM when I have used it for a little longer
Time for FAQs!
Frequently Asked Questions
This section will (hopefully) answer all your questions related with the X8. If you still have any doubts, go ahead and post here, or send me a PM.
SuperOneClick is stuck at "Waiting for device"!
This is most likely caused by the lack of USB drivers for your X8. Go ahead and click Driver Check in SuperOneClick. If the window that pops up says "No issues found!" the problem is NOT your USB drivers. Otherwise, download PC Companion (which comes with the USB drivers for the X8) right here. Install PC Companion and give your PC a reboot.
I'm working on this section whenever I have time, which doesn't happen a lot, because of school.
This Guide brings you all the a list of all the ROM's floating in this forum.

[DEV][WIP][ROM]ICS For X8 Alpha 9 *STOPPED* bis

As we all know, Stelios97 made a working port of ICS for the X10 mini. fifo171 has tested the same rom on his X8 and has confirmed that it works for the X8 as well. This thread is to further develop this rom so we X8 users can have ICS. On the 27th November 2011,troufiniou and has further developed this rom ! Thnx guys !
Notice :In this thread, we'll be focusing on troufiniou's releases. If you would like to try stelious97's rom, the link is provided below but i don't think i will be posting his releases as he is developing for the x10 mini and not the X8, whereas troufiniou is with us in the X8 department. Please do not ask for ETA's and I will not tolerate posts like "when will be ready 100%, when will be stable and etc". Also, if anyone disrespects the thread, not counting if they are disrespecting devs or normal users, you will be reported and hopefully banned ! You have been warned. Also, troufiniou and n1kolaa are working around the clock to get the ICS port working for us, so please show some respect and do not make demands be thankful we even have devs helping us !
Thanks goes to stelios97 for the x10 mini ics port and for helping with the x8 rom, nobodyAtall, alfsamsung and doixanh (also for helping with V007 II ) for their awesome kernels, fifo171 for testing on X8 (stelious97's rom), troufiniou who is currently developing this rom and to all the ICS testers as well as those who PM-ed me asking if they could help. Thanks guys !
stelious 97's thread
troufiniou's thread
Requirements:
[Stock kernel fix for V007 II and below] - Download this, extract the two files and paste them in system/bin and flash the rom (if asked to overwrite anything, just accept and click yes)
unlocked bootloader (Optional but highly recommended)
custom kernel : nAa kernel/alfs kernel/linuxdx kernel
rooted phone
latest firmware and baseband (xxxx015)
What's Working:
Touchscreen (Cypress users- stock kernel only with V008)
Charging
Hard buttons (Thnx to tony-noob )
Vibrate (With the nAa/alfs Kernel)
Sound (???)
SD Card Readable (V005)
LED (V005)
GSM (V005) (Can recieve calls and SMS but cant send sms and make calls )
Brightness (V005)
SMS
What isn't working :
Pretty much everything else
Installation Instructions:
(BEFORE TRYING, I SUGGEST TESTING YOUR PHONE TO SEE IF YOUR PHONE USES CYPRESS OR SYNAPTICS DIGITIZER)
*Download THIS
*Extract contents and select "checkts .cmd"
*Make sure USB DEBUGGING is enabled on your phone
*Connect your phone to your PC but do not mount SD CARD

Diclaimer : I can't be held responsible if this rom bricks, destroys or screws up your phone flash at your own risk ! ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING !!!!!! If you do have problems, PM me and I'll help
Video was done by jahlovePL thnx mate
Screenshots by 72andrew72 thnx bro !
Primary objectives : Fix network coverage, wifi, bluetooth, camera, basically everything and compatibility for cypress users (hang in there guys)
If you're not happy with this rom, simply full wipe, wipe cache, wipe data and restore your backup ! As for the kernel, you can use any kernel you prefer.
P.S.
1. I am not a developer. I am merely providing info and links based on troufiniou's progress. All credits go to the devs and the testers.
2. This rom only works with synaptics digitizer users. Cypress users will have to use stock kernel fix (read the requirements section - 1st post) along with v008 for now
3. Please read the 1st page before asking useless questions or making stupid complaints !!!
4. In V008, there were complaints of users unable to access their recovery modes ! Here's the fix by ThePCGuy Thnx mate ! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20044282&postcount=1216
Please, if you can help us, PM us and inform us that you can help to lessen our burden. Do not be selfish. Put it this way, the more hands we have working on this project, the faster you can expect ICS on your X8's I'm already recieving a lot of PM's asking if they can help ! THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT !
Let's all have a blast with this !

a) ROM
Gingerbread 2.3.5 Stock Huawei version (B512, B521, B540, B552, B565, B572)
or any customized Gingerbread ROM (CyanogenMod, MIUI, 2.3.5, 2.3.6, 2.3.7)
or any ICS Rom (DZO Aurora, Genokolar MIUI v4);
b) Recovery
CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7
If you have the stock recovery, you will not be able to install any customized ROM. So, you have to do these steps: download the CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7 (previous link to download the file), power off your device and turn on into Pink Screen Mode (holding down VOL+, VOL- and Power button). Plug in your usb cable to your pc and wait for the automount of the new drive. Navigate to the /image folder and rename the stock "recovery.img" into "recovery.bak".
Now simply copy the CWM Recovery into the /image folder and be sure that its name is "recovery.img", otherwise you have to rename it into "recovery.img".
Unmount the periferic, remove the usb cable and extract the battery to shutdown the phone. That's all.
You can verify the new recovery installation entering in recovery mode (holding down VOL+ and Power button).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR FULL PACKAGE
0) Make sure that you have installed all prerequisites;
1) Download the zip file of the rom with your pc;
2) Shutdown your smartphone and to be really sure unplug the battery;
3) Insert your battery and power on your smartphone into recovery mode holding down VOL+ and the power button (be sure that you have the CWM 5.0.2.7);
4) Go to advanced ---> reboot recovery;
5) At the new recovery boot go to "mount and storage";
6) Mount usb storage;
7) Plug in your usb-microusb cable;
8) Copy the downloaded zip file into the external sdcard;
9) Wipe data/factory;
10) Wipe cache;
11) Wipe Dalvik Cache;
12) [OPTIONAL if you experience a huge battery drain only] Wipe Battery Stats;
13) Go to "mount and storage", then "format /system";
14) Install zip from sdcard;
15) choose zip from sdcard and select the downloaded zip file;
16) Install complete!
17) reboot system now.
Please wait about 2 minutes for the install process and be patient for the first boot.
At the first boot the default language has been set to English. This choise because the rom needs to be more international possible.
Anyway the rom is multilanguage and offers the default available languages of the stock Android base-rom.
The default keyboard is the stock Android Latin.

Thank you! I hope you try my rom, I repute it very very fast and stable.
I have tested B512, B540, B552, B565, B572, B866 (Honor porting), B872 (Honor porting), B876 (Honor porting).
I have always customed these official roms and I have to admitt that the latest B876 is the most powerfull, very stable and I am not finding bug at the moment.
I prefer to take the stock rom from the official Huawei zip and customize the content making a good working rom.
You are right, the anzhi forum is very rich of content, a lot of people upload roms daily.

Hi, at the moment ICS is not my "goal" because it is buggy (also for Huawei Honor). When time becomes mature I will port a good base from U8860.
In the meanwhile I hope to find better kernel sources, maybe specific for ICS, like 3.0.X kernels.
This is a full-working Gingerbread and it apperas bugless, it's ready for daily use.

it seems to be a brand-independent bug of android os.
I lost many many photos and videos.
I never had this bug, I'm sorry to hear your experience...
But I never had a similar problem.

Announcement for DualBooters [Only FOR DorimanX FANs]

Hi All,
you know that i always will serve your S2 to DualBoot all best 4.1.2 ROM you can find on XDA or other Forums.
you know that you can ask me to re-script all ROMs you want to DualBoot too.
Now, you have to know that, for all DualBoot ZIP i will provide in future, all will be done to flash my DualBoot moded Roms in 1rst ROM too
For that, i will always change zImage kernel of ZIP ROM for DualBoot by zImage DoeimanX kernel , so if you flash my provided DualBoot rom in 1rst position ROM, your ROM will be powered by @dorimanx V8.xx Last KERNEL.
If Modem exist in Original ROM ZIP from DEVs, it will be replaced by XXMS3 modem to, with RIL too , from last ModemRIL_XXMS3-FROM_I9100XWLSW_I9100VGFLS2_VGF .
If ROM ZIP manage AROMA MODS , this will be rescript too for DualBoot. Even for Modem or Kernel choice.
How i can provide for your :
- Only send me updater-script and aroma-config files for original ROM ZIP you want to DualBoot.
Species :
- If you already have a 4.1.2 stock rom, you can always try to flash my moded ROMs over it without wiping anything. I never tell you to WIPE anything before or after flash.
- my script never format partition, only will be done a delete of /system/ , /cache/ , /data/sec_data/ and /data/dalvik-cache/ folders
Thanks.

This would be great, i'm waiting for
DualBoot - 1rst or 2nd ROM - I9100XWLSZ_NeatROM (Aroma Full&Lite soon)
Hi all,
based on principe in OP,
you can find my Last DualBoot ROM , based on last @_Sale_ Neatrom Full from yesterday.
In my ZIP, as a big test, you will find Viper4Android and Xpose and modules activated too. Modem is conserve, not change.
- last @dorimanx kernel version 8.41 inside too
Links to have a test of it : i named it Precious because when @_Sale_ provide a lite version, we can share a zip for ExtraLite_Full-Precious-I9100XWLSZ_NeatROM soon.
ExtraLite-Precious-I9100XWLSZ_NeatROM_Full.zip - 309.33 MB http://d-h.st/Dr2
EDIT and after some test :
i have an already "AROMA mod" to choose Full or Lite Install of ROM but, wait for the "REAL Lite with many features" from _Sale_ NeatRom too lol
i made it for 'dualbooters' , but i can 'drive' /preload/ managment folder for 'basic' users hahaha
I name it PreciousDualBootAromaFull-Lite-I9100XWLSZ_NeatROM.zip.
- xpose activated, xquicktoggles, appsettings modules too.
- viper activated and sdcard kernels installed
- walkman installed and sound activated too
- personal lite version (from last _Sale_ NeatRom Full) : (78 apks) no CSC sub-folders , rich features.xml, tts folder deleted
- full version : all things deleted from lite (133 apks)
When Real Lite will be available from @_Sale_ , AROMA will be ready and just perfect for all dualbooters friends.
thanks.
