Market fix for Insufficient Space Error - Xperia Play General

When trying to download apps off the android market i got the error "Insufficient Space" even thought i had over 250mb internal and 3GB external.
I have tried all the guides to get this working, from force closing market and clearing data/cache etc to using the adb command method to move it to SD Card but nothing worked.
I came accross a FREE app on the android market. I simply installed and ran the app and pressed the button. Then tried the market again and it fixed the error!
CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE APP
I did not create this app, i simply want to share it with others because i know it was a complete pain. Make sure you give the app good feedback in the market.

I get that error a lot... Will try the app
Sent from my Xperia Play

let me know how it goes. i literally tried everything and it is soo much hassle.
If you cant even download this app let me know and i will put the APK on dropbox for you.
Its so simple. press one button and a second later you can download any apps from the market.

Worked on Desire with MIUI.us 2.3.2

The irony! Got the error whilst trying to download this app. I'm unrooted anyways though

Thanks. But requires ROOT access.

Thanks for posting this... I had to wipe and reflash CM7 several time over the last week because this kept happening to me. I think this fixed it. YAY!!!!!

easier way: clear cache in clockworkmod, you cache is full and so the app cannot be downloaded to the cache...

Great thanks !!
wow thanks dude.
this is very helpful, and it WORKS. GREAT JOB !!

Doesn't work!

Is there something similar for non-root access?

App cache cleaner used to work for me

I am un-rooted on 2.3.3 and I get around this by uninstalling updates on the Google Play Store App [defaults back to the original store with the green icon]. The App will automatically update again over time to the modern Play Store, but you can just repeat the process when you want to update something.

it solved my problem. thank you very much

Market app is a system app. You can't just install it like a normal app. You will have to place it inside /system/app your self using root explorer or adb.
Sweetness i got it working! I only thought you had to install it not the other stuff /noob

[Q] How to install Gmail in in R2.1 ?

Today I went back to 2.1 (data2system LiteXtreme mod for Soft-mod 2.1 20E Final) as my battery was draining rapidly in 2.3.x. Everything looks fine except that there is no Gmail app in this ROM. Market also does not show it. Can somebody point me to Gmail apk.

That was the first thing I did even before posting this question. It does not show up in market place. That is the reason I started looking for apk to install. The first few that I found were all meant for froyo and gingerbread. They don't install correctly on eclair complaining about package parsing error. Then I posted this question hoping someone knows how to do it.
Hi, if you can't post in the proper thread about this version please pm me... here is what you need :
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21630798/Apps/Gmail%20for%20Eclair%202.1.rar
Install both as any other app, DO NOT PUSH TO WHERE SYSTEM APPLICATIONS ARE
Easier way is just drop the .apk's to your sdcard or dropbox and install from there as normal.
As i explained i had to remove many apps and files to make data partition fit in system partition, but if you need a stock app do not doubt in ask me.

Unable to update Google Maps

Since my market application was updated to the new "windows phone metro style" market, I am unable to update Google Maps application.
I keep getting the message that "a new update is available for "[email protected]"" and when I tap on it, I see that there is an update for Google Maps application. Unfortunately, I cannot proceed to the update because the market says that my device is incompatible with the application. Of course this is not possible, because I already have it. See the attached pictures for yourself.
How can I fix that? Any ideas?
Thanks!
If your device is rooted just install market enabler from market, change provider settings and then try again. It worked for me...

My device is not rooted and I do not wish to root it.
This problem shouldn't have occurred. It doesn't make sense to me...
How does the market say that the application is not compatible, while I already have it?
This may help:

I know, I also have this problem on some apps...Maybe it is a bug from updated market.Try uninstalling market updates to revert to the old version, that worked sometimes too...
Thanks for your replies. I still can't find a way to fix it.
The odd thing is that on market.android.com the application looks compatible and I can even push it to install. It doesn't seem to do anything on the device, though...

That will probably work...
With the old version of market, I would hold tap the update and another menu would appear on which I have been selecting "Update". This menu does not appear within the new market...
Download the update from here, and it should give Market a kick up the backside, and hopefully sort it:

Just had a thought, try clearing your market data in Settings- Applications-Manage-All.

I had a same problem with the desktop version of android market, it wouldnt do anything because my phone wasnt "connected" to it. All i did was clear cookies and it recognized my device back. Try that
We, Greeks, cannot install Google Maps and Google Earth. Don't know why. Just find the .apk (latest Google Maps is 6.0.0).
