Anroid 2.3 for Milestone 2 / Droid 2 - Milestone 2 General

Hi
Looks like Motorola works on an Update to 2.3, although it doesnt look like that its gonna be released soon.
http://www.androidcentral.com/gingerbread-droid-2-global-not-quite-ready-according-motorola

Hey, Droid 2 already got a ginger leak, it is kinda old news.
M2 has got no signal of ginger update from moto...

I was not expecting a quick upgrade from Motorola anyway.
This is so ... long and disappointing.

CyanogenMod is adding Droid2 support.

MS2 Hopes.
I just received my MS2 this week so I hope that there will be some news coming from the Moto camp about GB making it's way over to MS2 sooner than late.

droid2 but not M2…

March Gingerbread

So i remember hearing awhile back there were some rumors of moto pushing a gingerbread update in march. Any new news on this?
Nope. Moto hasn't even stated which phones will get 2.3, let alone a date. I wish they would hurry it up.
:fingerscrossed:
There was a screenshot of a potential OTA floating around a couple days ago, must have been a fake. tre' Sad.
I can't wait for the next version of stock. although I've enjoyed playing around with Liberty and Fusion.
Motorola has forgotten that the Droid 2 even exists.
Aparently p3droid on twitter has something gingerbread with no blur not sure though till team blackhat releases it if its d2 or dx

Gingerbread upgrade more likely..

now that motorola is releasing the Droid x2?
Both phones have the tegra 2 chip and motoblur but the droid x2 is releasing with gingerbread out of the box. If motorola has developed GB for this release, maybe a GB update for the Atrix isn't far behind.
Just trying to keep my hopes up.
I would tend to agree. Is it launching with 2.3.3 or 2.3.4?

Where did you see Gingerbread?
What the hell Motorola?! Why would you release a device with 2.2.2 when ICS is right around the corner?

I think you just answered your own question right there. Why invest more in QA and further development in "skinning" and slowing down 2.3 with Motoblur, if ICS is truly coming soon. However, it's Motorola and we all know their stance on customers' demands.
They have done a nice job in customer response for the atrix

The latest from the official Moto forums gives some hope for a timely GB release:
juniorsgv: i like the refer to link by forum manager. (later this year for 2.3), quarter 4, ice cream supposed to be released. so basically we will be behind everyone else. terrible for first android device they touted to be most powerful and dual core. i won't be buying motorola in the future after this one.
Mark (Forums Manager): You're probably referring to previous posts that included a link here. I think you're pessimistically looking at the "later this year". Soon as we get closer to the release date I anticipate we'll put up better information on our Android Upgrade News page as well.

I hope Mark means it. I'm dying for some GB or ICS action!

Well... he does seem to usually try to keep everyone informed in more of a *hint hint* way, and less of a "you're fired" way.... so i think it'd probably be a good bet that he means it. I mean, he did try to inform us as much as he could about the HSUPA update coming without flat out saying it.

They are only guessing. No reason to get too excited

Atrix & Droid X Gingerbread pre-launch soak annouced days apart: Just coincidence?

Atrix & Droid X Gingerbread pre-launch soak annouced days apart: Just coincidence?
I just read that droid x owners received word of a "pre-launch soak" update which as you know is days after word of the Atrix soak.
Just coincidence or could the 2 builds be that similar???
Which bring me to my next un-knowledgeable question: If the 2 builds are that close together to where only small changes are needed, how close could the droid x cm7 be to our Atrix?
Just a stupid, completely stupid, thought...
Well... i kinda doubt there's THAT much of a similarity between the Droid X and the Atrix. Different camera specs... Atrix has 1GB memory while the X has 512MB.... among other differences, including the addition of the fingerprint reader on the Atrix, not to mention a completely different CPU, and lack of dual-core on the droid x.
Droid X already had a soak test for gingerbread. This is probably a revision of it to fix more bugs. The Official gingerbread beta for DX has leaked for over a month now.

I'm not that stupid. I know feature-wise what their differences are. Im talking how similar they are when it comes to programing as a starting point or just being bootable.

Na i believe they had a GB leak similar to our HKTW 2.3.4 we've had for almost a month if not more (also), which is not a soak or manufacture's private beta.

Nope. HKTW was a gingerbread for a model similar to the Atrix in china. The Droid X leak was designed specifically for the DX.

The soak test announced recently was for the D2X. Not the DX.
Well Dam, i guess i'm thinkin somewhat on the right track:

I didnt mean similar rom, i meant a similar leak.
Every likelyhood they are very different, as I would imagine there are 2 different teams of applications/software engineers working on GB for each phone. They may communicate options, ideas, etc., but I doubt they OS's are the same.

Motorola XYBOARD is updating to ICS today

Well folks, seems like Motorola is sticking with their timeline of updates, the Motorola XYBOARD is supposed to receive their update today. After the XYBOARD, comes the Atrix 2 and then is our turn.
I can almost smell a leak for our beloved Atrix.
Discuss this here.

I agree this is very good news, I was worried about their progress being that the software update page hasn't updated to this information. Cannot wait to hear more on the upcoming updates.

Let's get to know each other

Hi to all.
First of all I would like to say sorry to any user I may of offended I did not mean.
Now to a more positive note!
I don't know how many user have the RAZR I or who them users are!
So let get to know the users here and introduce ourselves to this forum!
I'm dj_mol3y_x8 and as you can possibly tell from my previous post I have had some bad times with android starting with a x8(sony ericsson) left on 2.1 so started my experience of custom roms and kernel of which im very grateful to xda and its dev's BIG THANKS.
And from the I started to mod themes. Then move to roms and now my x8 has s3 4.0.4 rom/mod by me and my team mate. So then I got a galaxy Ace (samsung)
And that got 1 update so again me and some other users rebuilt the stock gb os to the look of jb
And now I have my RAZR I and I very happy with it despite my moaning. Once again sorry for that. And from now on you will see a much more positive mol3y.
I hope we can get to know each other a build a good, happy, spam & troll free community which I'm sure will have some good development and developers
All the best

Welcome dude!
Well, I'm Vistaus. I started out with some stupid phones (including an old Motorola), then got a Motorola Razr V6 Maxx in 2007 which is still rocking here as a backup phone! Then I moved to a stupid LG Renoir smartphone in 2009, then to an Sony Ericsson Satio in 2010 and then moved to Android to an HTC Desire in 2010. That one broke after a few months and repair was taking too long so I moved to a Motorola Milestone XT720 by the end of 2010. That one I rocked until summer 2011 when I switched to an HP Pre 3 with webOS. But earlier this year there were firmware problems in The Netherlands making it impossible to call with it and with no updates left I switched back to my Motorola V6 Maxx and finally after summer this year I bought the newly released Motorola Razr i
I also have had a Motorola Xoom in 2011. Didn't like it so my parents use it now. I then bought an HP Touchpad in 2011 and am still rocking it, partly thanks to the community (love webOS!).
I also have had multiple custom ROMS from XDA on my XT720 back in the day and on the Xoom so I'm an experienced tester with it.
Am loving my Razr i and hopefully JB comes soon to our phone!

Well, I'll give this a go then. Hi guys, I'm paco.
I started with a bunch of crappy phones here in Brazil! Then in 2010 I moved to a xperia x10 mini that nearly drove myself crazy! I started to Get to know android a bit And started working with custom roms... After a year thrashing that phone, I moved on to a Motorola Milestone 2 (A953) And liked it for a while. Then at the middle of this year, that phone went to the shop and motorola never gave it back
After I gave up on motorola giving my phone back (and sueing them of course) I bought a xt860, that I hated since no custom rom can be fully done for it due to the locked bootloader. There are some really good devs for this phone now and slowly but surely something is coming together! Now I am anxiously waiting for my razr ia to arrive, So I Thought I could start to Get to know the community and offer myself as a tester!

HTC Touch, Sony Ericsson C905, Nokia N8, HTC Titan, RAZR i.
Those are my last phones I can remember of. I used to be a Windows Phone fanboy until I bought this amazing android phone. I can do so much more than I used to with the Titan.

Hi,
I'm Ed from the not so sunny UK!
This is my 3rd Android phone, previously having the HTC Hero (aka G2) and the Samsung Nexus S.
Really like the size, feel and battery life of the Razr i however I did take a bit of backwards step as my Nexus S had jelly bean so I'm looking forward to that update (soon hopefully)
Both previous phones were rooted and a loads of different ROMS tried etc however I have left the razr i rooted for now as can't see much advantage in rooting it yet.
Hi, I'm Miles from the UK. Live in Scotland but originally from the north of England.
This is my fifth Android phone (Motorola Milestone -> HTC Desire Z -> Motorola DEFY -> Motorola XT910 RAZR) and it's not yet in my sticky paws as I only ordered it yesterday.
I was really looking forward to the Nexus 4, but reading about the poor battery life and glass back, made me wonder if it was the right move. Then the launch failure made me think twice. Ironically it was looking at Nexus 4 benchmarks that drew me to the RAZR i, which seemed to have good performance and great battery life. The size was the clincher, as I find my RAZR XT910 just a little too big in the hand and the pocket, but the RAZRi has the same screen, in a smaller package.
Look forward to the Jelly Bean upgrade, but I'm not going to sweat, as ICS seems pretty good with Moto's minimal skin.

Hi,
My name is Ivan, I'm from Slovenia. My previous phones are Motorola MPX200, Samsung Omnia 2, Motorola Defy and Motorola Defy+. Currently I own tablet Toshiba Thrive and Motorola Razr I. As you can see I'm a big fan of Motorola because it was always phone company with broad specter of product and you can really rely on its hardware and system. It has the most advantage development too. I'm not a developer though so unfortunately you can't expect any help regarding system issues from me. I'm more on applications side and I was always trying to get the most possible from every phone. I hope that I can be useful in this forum.
