[Q] G2 lock screen help - G2 and Desire Z General

Does anyone know a way to disable being able to turn the G2 off before passing the lockscreen?
Here's my situation:
I downloaded "Look Out" the app that will tell you where your phone is in case you lose it, but I noticed that you dont even need a password or anything to turn the phone off even when locked. So if someone were to find my phone, all they would need to do is turn my phone and I wont have access to finding out where my phone is. I hope that makes sense.

I'm afraid that is imposible, and pointless, since all it takes is to remove battery to turn off the phone, and that you can't prevent.

This! And if they never turn on the phone, what are they going to do with it? in order to use it or sell it it has to be turned on, and that is why you installed "look out".

Yet another thought... Have you ever tried taking out the battery, putting it back in, then starting the Universal back up? It takes time. Imagine taking all that time each time you open up the screen...
thanks for your reply. actually i did not mean turn off completly the phone i meant standby i was able to do this by deselecting the turn off the phone in the setting so every time i open the lid it is already on but this is affecting my battery life (i see about a 25% increse battery drain) so the point is to send the uni to stand by every time i close the lid and to bring it back from stand by as soon as i open it. thanks

Screen timeout killing phone!

Recieved my HD yesterday, and this is the symptom of the issue:
When the phone reaches its screen timeout (whether its 30 secs or 10 mins) period it the phone turns off completely. It is not possible to then turn the phone back on using the power switch or any other way. The only way the phone can be turned back on is to take the battery out and put it back in.
Initially i thought maybe it was the battery and somehow it didnt have proper connection with the copper contacts. However if i turn off the screen timeout off completely then the phone stays on and doesnt turn off. So as long as the phone doesnt go into power save mode or screen timeout its fine and stays on. Its also not the power switch as the switch works fine other wise.
I rang HTC support, spoke to some clueless call centre lady who tried to tell me it might be a proximity issue. I dont think it is as i dont have any issues when making or receiving calls. The problem is for some reason screen timeout causing the phone to completely shut down. I have searched on a few forums and cant seem to find anyone else with this issue.........FML
Forgot to add, i have also done the following:
- Reset to factory default
- Checked for udpates (get a message saying my phone is up to date)
- Made sure phone sim cover and battery cover are properly secured
Nothing has worked so far

So the switch turns the phone off and on again, or just off?
switch turns phone on and off any other time but after screen lockout kicks in it doesnt do anything, i have to take the battery out to turn the phone back on.
In a normal scenario if i want to power the phone down and then power it back up again then it is fine
Hope that makes sense
It really sounds like a software issue.
Is your DHD branded or unlocked?
Maybe try install some of the custom roms from arround the forum.I use LeeDroid 1.2 and it works like a charm.
Go to "ROM Development" thread. There are a few HOW-TOs on the top. There is always a risk u mess things up but it's small and from how it sounds, u don't have much of a choice anyway good luck
Its a branded "Orange" phone from the UK. I think im just going to return it and get a replacement and if i still have issues then ill try your suggestion thanks. Really disappointing, Desire HD seems to be riddled with issues.

[Q] Continuum, what have I done?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum (first post), I've owned my Continuum for a few months now happily with no problems. I actually love the phone! But recently I ran into a pretty big problem...
Let me give you a little background on my phone first, I have used SuperOneClick on it, to grant super user permissions, I've used the program to grant me access to the phone tethering apps that are out (currently using Open Garden), and the AdFree app in the market. I havn't used anything else in regards to 'hacking' my phone so I'm a bit confused as to why I'm getting trouble.
Anyways here's my problem, lol! Well the other day I turned off my phone and tried turning it back on and I would get a grey battery with the spinning disk, and it wouldn't turn on :\! I tried holding all the buttons, for over 10 seconds, no avail. It still turned on to the battery and nothing. I tried taking the battery out for a whiiiile and nothing. Eventually I plugged in my phone to the wall and it magically worked. Actually that's the only way I've been able to get my phone to turn on lately. It works fine once it's on but every time I turn it off the same thing happens .
So that's truly why I'm here... Is my phone 'bricked', or are these some symptoms of being 'bricked'? Are there any fixxes I can go about taking to you know...fix the problem ?
Any help would be Greatly appreciated,
Thanks everyone,
-Matt
Oops, I forgot to mention that my phone has been acting strange sometimes in the sense that I plug it into the wall and the 'Mass Storage/ Media player' option comes up, even though it's not plugged into the computer, just into the wall.
Pretty strange huh?
Anyways thanks again everyone who helps!!!
Can you try taking out the battery, then putting it back in...
Then hold down the volume down key as you power it back on?
I would try un-rooting and doing a factory reset... that should eliminate software issues... If you're still having issues then take it to VZW and let them give you a new one.
This is not "bricking"... If a phone is "bricked", it does nothing, absolutely nothing, and the only way to make it useful is to use it to build something.
Sure, right now it says "Downloading... Do not turn off Target!!!".
Thanks for letting me know it's not bricked, that's a little reassuring .
After a while I just took out the battery and stuck it back in and attempted to turn on the phone the usual way, and it turned on just fine. I'm guessing it's fixed and hopefully it won't do that again.

[Q] Is there any way to remove short vibration during turn off and start up???

Hello, although I love my HD2, there is one thing I really hate about it.
I mean the vibration during boot on and esspecialy boot off... God today I hate it even more - tonight the battery discharged and of course it vibrated - what has awaken my wife and now she doesn't want to see my phone in our bedroom anymore...
so please help me find the way to disable the short vibrations during boot off - I've been already looking around for some answers but it doesn't seem to be bothering anyone else but me I have an Android installed on my device but i belive it's the same **** on Windows and i guess it doesn't depend on installed system, does it?
I am pretty sure there is not a way to turn that off on Android or Windows. Sorry.
i guess it's a phone default, the only way is to remove that pesky little motor i guess
Yes for sure lol

Can't turn on screen on S4, Need to figure out how to get data off.

I hope I'm posting in the right place.
I just got a used S4 and need to take the pictures off for the previous owner but the battery is shot, which isn't a big issue I was able to get another battery for it, but when I try to turn on the phone the phone will turn on but the screen won't, even when trying to boot into recovery or download mode.
I need to get the pictures off but I doubt that it has USB Debugging enabled, I'm not sure of the exact model of the phone, sorry about that.
I'm using Linux if it makes things easier or harder for getting stuff off.
