[Q] Anyone working on the Dock? - Acer Iconia A500

I picked up the dock and really like the remote feature, but I was wondering, is anyone working on developing it to do anything else? Like be able to control apps other than Nemo Player. I'd even settle for allowing it to control Nemo Player the same way Nemo works when it's not on the dock, mainly being able to scroll through folders when choosing videos. When you have 20 videos it's a pain to search through them.
Is any of this possible?

Play media from Desktop

If anybody is interested, WINAMP allows you to view and play any files located on your desktop through the internet on the phone basically from anywhere.
Something else that does this very nicely, called orb, at www.orb.com. You can play any media (MP3, Video, Pictures as well as online radio) streaming from your desktop. They open in WMP on your device.
I have never tried winamp for this, may have to give it a shot and see if I like it better than orb. Just wanted to make people aware of this option as well.
An interesting question, I wonder if the new Linux version of winamp has this capability... That would be super nice!
if you have vista or xp media center you should use webguide. it integrates much better than all the other options i've come across

EVO Remote Music Control of HTPC

I'm looking for good app to remotely play music on a Windows 7 box, via my EVO. Basically like a music remote. I've seen Gmote, but that's VERY basic & super limited with features.
What I want to do is control the music on my HTPC, which is connected to a Onkyo receiver that has multi room speaker support. More or less, I have company over and I can pick up my EVO and scroll the list and pick something that plays.
I know that there is iTunes remote, http://www.appbrain.com/app/hyperfine.hftunes.release , but I don't want ruin a perfectly good windows box with iCrap
"Subsonic" http://www.subsonic.org/pages/index.jsp looks cool, but near as I can tell, that streams TO your device & doesn't allow for remote play control.
I run Boxee on my HTPC but the Boxee remote app is pretty much useless as it doesn't display anything other than song playing.
Any ideas? I'm looking for something that displays current song, album art and maybe even has a shuffle feature.

Install XBMC and use the official XBMC Remote. It actually works very well. It even shows album art. Plus it will show incoming texts and calls on the XBMC screen

Hmm...that does look pretty nice. Thanks!
This is way off topic...but shouldn't that remote support Boxee since it is based off the same open source that XBMC is built off of? It doesn't matter all that much, but it would be nice to just run one app for everything on the HTPC. I tried to sync it up, but either I have the cfg wrong or it isn't supported.
I have Remote Desktop and PhoneMyPc on my Evo. Both have their ups and downs, but both work great for controlling my library. I have my PC setup next to my TV/Receiver, so when I listen to music, I used to just carry around a wireless mouse and switch the tracks. But that means my tv was left on all the time, when alll I was doing was listening to music. Now I just carry my Evo around, and can browse the FULL library, type in songs into search, and control volume.

Only one way to find out. Should take you less time to try it than to wait for a response.

[Q] Change the default dock app

Hi,
Is there a way to change the default application that loads when connecting the tablet to the dock?
It currently runs nemoPlayer, however I'd rather it just run the stock standard Music app.
I don't know, but since I have installed the last Taboonay ROM (0.9.1), there is no more app opening when I put the tablet on the dock, and for me this is better...
Hmm, well that works too I guess... although does the actual dock work with the rom? For example, does the remote control work, audio out, etc?
I just put that rom on mine, so I'll try this when I get home I guess...
I would be very interested to see if there was a fix for this in the 4.0.3 stock ROM. I'd prefer to use clear.fi to stream media from my PC so that the dock finally finds a use as a bedroom hifi system....
Do you have ICS on your tab? What happens if you disable Nemo player in the App settings?

[Q] Acer Iconia App Modding.

Is it possible to make the NEMO-Player app for the dock OR the dock let the remote control other apps like RockPlayer and Pandora? or eveo the stock Music app?
P.S. If your looking for a keyboard mouse combo for this I highly Recommend the Logitech MK300 Because it does ALL the functions via the keyboard like HOME volume, and the Song changing. lock wake etc. Will make a video soon

[Q] Backdrop customization?

Does anyone know if it is at all possible to customize the backdrop the same way you can with the Chromecast? I checked the Chromecast app and it does not allow me to select the Nexus Player to customize it. Seems odd that Google would not allow you to do this?
i noticed the same thing...looks like it can act as a chromecast but does not yet have all of its features. The nexus player has the "googlecast" app installed that makes it a chromecast. I am starting to find out that it really does not replace the chromecast in some ways
That's a bummer, one of the reason I got the Sony KDL50W800C is I thought that I can give my chromecast to someone else, but just realized it can't do backdrop as well! Shouldn't be hard for google to include it in in the future!
