If you purchased the apps using your android account and they show up in the tablet market, you can download them.
I've purchased quite a few and I can download them all. Some may not be fully compatible (fit into a tiny area of your screen) but will generally work if they show up in the tablet market.

I purchased the History Channel game straight from the market on the device even. Not worth $7 necessarily, but proof you can pay and play nonetheless.

The problem is that paid apps (along with some others - Google Earth for example) do not show at all in my market. When I try to install them through market.android.com I get a ""this item cannot be installed in your device's country". I am located in Greece. I had the same problem with Samsung Galaxy S, but it was solved using Market Enabler to change the carrier. The Iconia I have does not have 3G, so there is no carrier involved (tried Market Enabled and it does not work). What does it use to check your location. IP?

Most likely, which is very ****ty. As an American living in Mexico I get screwed constantly. It's tempted me to move back many times. Only $6 per pound filet mignon keeps me here.
It might use your address and credit card on file too though, I'm not sure. My account was made in the US, funded by US bank etc. I have access to all apps the USA does, but my prices are shown in pesos. Which in itself I find insulting.
Maybe try setting up a USA vpn on your router if it's available as an option to you.

Full market in non-released countries

For some reason I cannot fathom HTC Android based phones like Magic and Hero is relased in Norway and are selling quite well. But full Android market is not released so we can only access free apps. Meaning I cannot buy CoPilot even if I wanted to.
Is there any way to open full market access? How does the phone detect my location, can I fool it by setting up a proxy or similar?
I would like to buy apps too. Sadly, I can only access free ones.
hey...
i live in Romania..had the same problem but this came in handy...
don't forget to save settings first
i could still receive calls and browse the internet with faked operator...but you never know what could happen
Thanks, will give it a try...

Buying from Market

I thinking about buying an application but wanted to know where the program is stored.
If I were to upgrade or change my android build would the application follow? Does the market place keep track of my purchases and lets me download it again or do I need to place it in a particular folder?
Thanks.
you would need a back up program but if u purchase a paid app from market you will find it in your downloads area

The way the android market handles this, is when you purchase an app, it links it to your google account indefinitely.
The reason for this, is for when you upgrade your device firmware, lose your phone, and purchase a new android device on any network (sprint, verizon, t-mobile, at&t, yada yada) you may get all of your paid apps back on your new device, or new firmware.
So, as long as you use the same google account to log in to your device (I don't know why you wouldn't because you can store all your contacts in the cloud on your gmail account), you will be able to get your previously paid android apps at no additional cost.
Have fun, and enjoy those paid apps out there. There are some good ones.

Paid apps don't appear when switching build
I'm actually a bit concerned about this.
I've been using mdeejay's Revolution for a few weeks, and decided to take the plunge an purchase the apps I use the most.
A couple of days ago, I installed desire_cs in parallel for experimenting. I dual boot between these two with no problem.
However, after associating the same account with Market in desire_cs, I do *not* see my paid apps.
I've tried various tricks (restore the Market data with Ti-backup, clear Market data, dial '*#*#CHECKIN#*#*', copy the fingerprint in build.prop, just wait online). My Downloads list remains empty, and Market behaves as if I need to purchase the apps again. Google Checkout (on the web) clearly shows that my purchases are valid.
Booting back to the MDJ build, everything looks dandy.
I tried restoring a backup of a paid app from the MDJ build into the desire_cs build. This works OK, but Market still does not flag the app as purchased.
This makes me hesitate to purchase any more apps - though I know Ti-backup will probably be able to preserve my MDJ setup for me, I will need to manually check for updates to the paid apps, and will probably need to aquire them from shady corners of the net.
Is this a fluke or one-time-thing with the build(s) I've tried, or will it happen with all builds? Can anyone say that purchases in general transfer fine between builds? (I assume the latter is the case, otherwise I'd have seen more complaints in these forums.)
Thanks for your time!

Gotta be some kind of a fluke, I have restored/updated apps countless times from build to build using the Downloads section of the Market. They have always showed up for me, I still have paid apps from my Tilt2 days that I d/l and update from the market.
Only thing I can think of for your case is maybe a difference in Market region between your two builds. Maybe if you use Market Enabler to change your Market region in your new build?
But before going on an app buying spree, I would install a new build or two, and experiment. Who knows, it's possible you may just have really bad luck or Google hates you
Strange...it has to be a fluke. I've bought many apps and I'm a builoholic...always changing (monster ADD) and the APPs are always waiting in downloads. The exception to this is the full version of launcher pro which I bought in app and paid for through paypal...
I'm with huggs in guessing its a region issue. Try Market Enabler and let us know what happens...kinda interested in the outcome.
You should be able to re-activate them with the google purchase transaction number (like I did with CoPilot)... after purchasing an app you should have received an invoice stating what your google checkout number was...
I have never had trouble installing purchased apps in different builds after upgrading. Both on my Desire and HD2 I can find all my purchased apps, regardless of on which device or ROM the app was bought.

[how to] download apps from amazon appstore if outside US

A very easy way
http://phandroid.com/2011/03/28/work-around-discovered-for-amazon-appstore-users-outside-of-us/
If u like plz hit the thanks button
info for those new
People create your amazon appstore username using the above method I have gotten about 55 paid apps for free i.e. 1 free app a day !!
Get yours
This is how to access the american android market, but could also be helpful in figuring out the amazon appstore.
To access the american market you'll need two applications:
1.Market Enabler --> from the market
2.Orbot--> from the market
Market enabler is an app that fakes a different service provider to access different markets.
Orbot is a transparent proxying application which hides the fact that you are using the american market.
1. Install both apps.
2. Open Market Enabler and long click the T-Mobile (US) provider.
3. Open Orbot and long click the on button until transparent proxying is enabled.
4. Open the market and voila!
Now upto 251 apps from the start approx worth of $400 of paid apps free. Although I must say sum of them are good some I hate. make the account today
My posts are becoming more more like an amazon marketing agent
this is awesome...thanks
They do actually check the IP adress now. Atleast I wasn't able to "buy" any free apps until I signed up through a proxy, I haven't tried if it's possible to use regular connection after signup though.
Thanks for the tips
You must have your phone rooted before installing market enabler. My phone are not rooted and I just want from the US market "mail.com mail" apk. If someone can help me. Thanks

Just got the Xoom and Market blocks most apps....

Hi,
I got the Xoom wifi yesterday. As an international user, most apps are blocked in Android Market. I thought setting up my USA VPN on would help.
Basically I want to have access all apps, even paid ones.
1.What's the easiest way to do this? Is rooting the only way?
2.Isn't there a way to backup...a complete system image? From what I understand Dungeon Defender will be deleted with no way to get it back.
If you have a rooted android phone, then u have to see this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13278866&postcount=16
Its the way to go! =D hahaha
Finally able to root + Market enabler...but still can't see paid/tablet apps. What am I doing wrong?
if the app you're trying to buy is not for tablets only, in other words it would appear on your phone market, buy it there using Market Enabler (if you need to based on location). Then on your Xoom, connect to a USA vpn, clear your Market Data from Settings>Applications... you'll then see the applications you purchased under My Apps and you can download them.
VPN will not allow you to buy straight from your Xoom. It's really frustrating I know.

[Q] Trouble accessing market

Hi guys i just bought a Kindle fire i live in Trinidad when i put in my details and i try to download angry birds (free app) it tells my my credit card is non us how could i get around this
Thanks in advance
The KF is only supported for the US market by amazon so far.
Even downloading fee apps uses an account linked to a credit card and that card needs to be US Based.
You will also have issues most likely with the IP you are using as they check for that for streaming.
is there anything i could do ? i just want market access dont really care for amazon apps

Use a US based credit card.
OR
Root your device, load Android Market and use that.
