[Q] Polaris Office And Excel - Eee Pad Transformer General

Hey Guys, there are a few threads with Polaris but not that much information. I was hoping as more and more of you get the tablet maybe someone could answer this for me. My tablet is hopefully coming on the 12th from best buy but I wanted to find this out now if possible.
I am in sales and my order forms are in excel and all I need them to do is basically click the cell and have a 1 appear. That will order the item and this is handled on microsoft office with a macro. First question is does polaris work with macros?
Right now, I am doing this on an Ipad and its very frustrating to click the cell have the big keyboard pop up then have to type 1 and then move on to the next item, but with the keyboard taking up half the screen.
I hope this question is clear and thanks for your help...

any answer?
Hi, I'm too looking for an application that can use macro( like excel) on android
Before, I was under windows mobile and I used "spread". Does anyone know if something like that exist on android?
Thanks

Don't think macros will work
If you have the keyboard then it's easier, but I've personally found polaris version of excel really slow - tempted to try out a competitor....

Request for a developer to develop a BlackBerry Input Hack

I've searched around and I have not been able to find the functionality that duplicated the beloved "TreoCaps" program. The TreoCaps program, in turn, on the Treo650, emulated the BlackBerry input style whereby when you pressed a key on the keyboard for a certain length of time, it would insert the capitalized version of the key you were pressing. Hold it for still longer and you'd get the "Symbol-shifted" version of the letter (i.e., "T" would map to "#" on the Hermes keyboard).
Is there any chance a competent (and I know that there are a lot of them here) programmer be able to create such a utility? It would also help in the migration of BlackBerry users to WM5, would help us who used this feature on the Treo650's and it's just a faster way to use a hard keyboard.
Anyone else think that this might be handy?

No, actually back then, I asked if such a program was available. I guess that's an implicit request, but in my mind, I was asking if there was one available.
Hate to spam (and don't actually think that I was), but I wanted to be sure that I was explicit in my request. Forums can be tediously difficult to communicate on if you're not explicit. I can delete the other thread if that'll clean things up.... By now, it's clear, there is no such utility.
-Humbert
Actually there is, it's called QCaps. Unfortunately it is device specific and only works on the Moto Q. The developer is working on Blackjack and Treo versions.

Hi Ninja1 --
That's great information, actually. Now I can look for the author's contact info and ask him if he's thinking about doing one for the Hermes.... QCaps. Cool.

GPS-coupled reminder & to-do-lists

Hi all,
I'm neither a software developer nor an harcore techie, just a plain PPC user, but after crawling the web for days and nights I feel this forum is the only place where I can find an answer to my question. Admins, please forgive me if this is not the right spot and feel free to move my post to a most appropriate location.
I'm looking for a location-sensitive reminder & to-do list app for GPS-enabled cellphones; for example, you could drive nearby a drugstore and the device would remind you that you need to buy some particular medicine. Or, if you're near the video store, it can remind you of a movie you wanted to rent.
I know the concept exists and has been used by a student for his Ph.D, but AFAIK I never found anything similar. I really hope some of you experts have an answer to this.
Thanks a million in advance
If something like this could get programmed for a pocket pc it would probably be a gold mine. Currently not many ppc's have GPS built in but the number is growing quickly.

Searching Friends problem on Facebook by using my HD2

hey guys,
I'm trying to add some new friends from Facebook by my HD2, but I can't search any new friends!! ;(
However, it works on IPhone but why not windows phone.
Anyone know about these?
Let me know Please
Thank u in advance
anyone can help??
You've not given us enough information to help you.
How are you trying to add friends? How do you expect it to work, and in what way does it not?
Incidentally, silly comments like "it works on my iPhone" will get you nothing other than silly comments like "use your iPhone then".

Thanks John,
Well, i go to "Friends" Tag, and click "Search" then i input the person's name which i'm trying to search, however, there is no other results come out apart from the person which i have added.
But my friend show me on his IPhone, once he input the name and then click search, there are numbers of results come out even he didn't add.
Did i make it a bit clear now??
Very Sorry if i confuse you guys, because English is not my first language
I have had this problem before on my TP2, it will search for people in my friends but not people I do not know.
Never managed to get to the bottom of why this happens, Sorry.
As far as I'm aware, the search function is for searching within your friends, not for searching for new friends. I don't think you can do that with the application.
The application is not meant to be a replacement for the facebook website, but rather a sort of middleware app that gets information from the site for you, and allows you to do some minor updates.
You'll still need to use the main site to do lots of things.
If it helps, you can use http://m.facebook.com/ on the phone to get the mobile version, which is a lot lighter than the full version and doesn't use any ajax or flash (which would slow the browser down considerably!)
Hope this helps

APP request - grol testing software for windows mobile

Hello everyone. I am a second year electronics student and am now working for my General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL). I am looking at having to memorize the answers to just under 700 questions. Its rather tough lol. The reason I am here is simple. I have searched and searched and have not found any software for my touch pro that will help me study for this test. I don't know how to write programs but I know that many of you out there do a phenomenal job. I am looking for someone that would write a program for me that would quiz me on all the questions for the GROL. In fact I believe that if one where interested in making a few dollars he or she could go all out and make a program that creates a full exam from the test question pool, then watches which ones the user gets wrong and makes sure to ask them more often. It would also be cool if a pop up window came up explaining the proper answer. I also think it would be nice to have a screen at the end showing results. I know at first this seams daunting but I do have software that came with my book that is close to this and could send you a copy. Also, the entire question pool is listed on the fcc website. It wont let me post the link here but if you contact me by email i can find it for you.
The GROL only requires sections 1 and 3. The only other program similar was marked at $40.00 and for the pc. Nothing has been found for the PPC where it makes the most sense. During random downtimes a person can do a few random questions here and there. I believe that if made to look nice with a nice touch style interface someone could post this to windows marketplace and sell it for $20.00 easily and make some nice cash on it. I would learn to program and do it myself if it weren't for the fact that I am in class now and need it ASAP.
Thanks in advance for all that entertain the thought of taking this on

It's not exactly what you said, but maybe you can use SuperMemo UX & SuperMemo Mobile. It's free software, but you will need to build your own course.

I know this is an older post. And I knkw what you mean, and are talking about. I am changing career fields into Avionics, and a classmate has an app for his (cry)Phone. But in the Google Play Store, they have some, but they are expensive for what it is ($19.99 and $12.99). I can't find anything except crApple. Absolutely no Android. I can't even find anything where someone ported the CD that is in the book over to Android and other platforms. I have coppied the files from the CD to a folder on my computer called "GROL." So I didn't have to have the CD in my computer the whole time. I'm going to graduate at the end of this month, and I only have Element 1 done. Partly its my own fault for waiting until now. But either way, I'll have 3 & 8 done. But it would be nice if I could take the studying with me when I have life going on and not by my computer. Lol
Android surpassed crApple, and yet we still get kicked to the curb.

Default WinMo keyboard gone on T-Mobile TouchPro2 with 6.5 download

I just installed Windows Mobile 6.5 onto my T-Mobile TouchPro2. Now, the old, default windows mobile on-screen keyboard is gone. I know I'm probably one of the last people in the world who still uses it, but I use it because it doesn't take up a lot of screen room and I use the stylus a lot anyway for a lot of my applications.
Does anyone know how to get this keyboard back? Is there a cab file somewhere of the default windows mobile 6.1 keyboard I can download? If it's not possible, does anyone know of another option for a keyboard that is meant to be used for the stylus and is relatively small?

google "tmobile touch pro 2 screen keyboard sip" search search search before u post
I did the search you suggested to dshersze --"tmobile touch pro 2 screen keyboard sip" and all that came up is this page. I can confirm that the standard windows mobile keyboard has been removed from T-Mobile's latest ROM, and I've done a good bit of searching online without finding a .CAB for that ol' standard keyboard, or a way to tweak T-Mobile's new WM 6.5 ROM to activate it. So dshersze's questions seems reasonable, and not deserving of a "search before u post" admonition. akademik_acheeba, if you know where there's a page that explains how to fix this issue, could you post a link to it?
Thanks, Alan

p.s. what ROM are you using? is it the official TMo that came out today(not the leaked) or are you using one of the xda chefs? if it is from xda then this question belongs in that ROMs thread.
I am not missing my onscreen keyboard in the 6.5 TMOUS ROM, it is there as it has always been, maybe you shoudl reflash
I can confirm that the default WM Keyboard(the one that looks like a full keyboard and is really only suitable for stylus input or for people with microscopic fingers) is absent from the new 6.5 update (both leaked and official). To check this, pull up your SIP and enter the input options menu.
Here is what I use along with my options...
Thanks for the screenshots- they show that you do not have the SIP in question either. My guess is that someone decided that it wasn't a popular input method, however, I can see where this might be a preferred keyboard for stylus intensive input or for access to keys not found in most SIPs.
The T-Mobile 6.1 *Official* ROM called this SIP "Keyboard", and on the 6.5 *Official* ROM it has been replaced by "Transcriber" which on 6.1 was found under "Other Input Methods".
I wish people wouldn't be so eager to attack a legitimate posting without a clear understanding of what is being addressed. I think that most of us make a genuine attempt at searching for answers prior to creating a thread, but it seems like there are some that are just waiting to pounce without hesitation to accuse someone of not following forum rules. Give me a break, I know that not everyone here is an adult, but attacking someone with the insinuation that they did not do a proper search seems to have become far too common and does nothing to help anyone. Why not assume that a thorough search has already been attempted and rather than providing an admonishment and a slew of links (that I doubt had anything to do with the issue at hand) provide a reasonable explanation or solution along with those links? In my opinion, this is what these forums are for: a valuable resource of information and advice.

Score one for civility. We must remember that not everyone speaks English as a first language. In addition you can't search for something if you don't know the key words to look for. Everyone describes his/her issue differently. Just look at how akademik changed the terms he suggested when he posted his links. It seems that it would have been easier and better for the forum, if someone had simply posted a link to the solution. On another note, it is a great idea to use tags when creating new threads.

I agree with Treo, points for civility. Especially because the other guy who attacked the OP didn't even post any links relevant to what the OP was looking for. All I saw in those links were Finger Keyboards, and HTC keyboards.
OP wants the default WINMO 6.0/6.1 keyboard, with the tiny keys that, while only good for use with a stylus, is excellent for odd symbols. Like | for messing with the Manilla Weather editors.
Unfortunately I don't have information for the OP, as it seems likely that as many people have not liked that keyboard, support for it is all but gone.
The new keyboard function "Swype" has a pretty good symbol list to choose from.
Here's the thread for the TP2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=597337
I guess I did have some info after all... I guess that's something.
as much as i help people on here via posts or pm's, no one knows how to use the search dropbox at the top or even google their issue to see if other wm sites have info on it. you heard about xda from tmo.com and now you come here for everyone to magically solve all your issues. all you people want is to point, click, download, install and be on your merry way...so stop being lazy, people here spend alot of time developing and perfecting things and if one lil issue goes wrong then yall complain. google what you want, and help others. as i see you guys posted here and not one of you have helped the issue but rather complained that i said search...oh well ill say it again...SEARCH
I like Swype, but anther decent SIP that I think is well worth trying is Finger Keyboard. One problem I have had is that some 3rd party SIPs will prevent my Rhodium from booting forcing hard-reset, but both Swype and Finger Keyboard work fine. One feature that I like in Finger Keyboard is the ability to assign text to a key such as an email address or password and it can switch between different languages without leaving the panel.
A way to bring back the default keyboard ...
Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4843610. It requires a registry hack, but it does work.
I'm not sure why no one likes a stylus anymore, but I prefer the precision that it buys me as well as the ability to draw on the screen. The old keyboard also has a CTRL key which allows me to cut and pasted from any application (even those without a press-and-hold context menu). I don't understand the desire to emulate the iPhone with capacitive touch screens but poor precision. If I wanted an iPhone, I would have bought one.

LOL! Spot on!
This is brilliant. You don't want to know how long I've been looking for a way to get the old keyboard back! Everyone seems to want keyboards that are bigger and can be used without a stylus - but I hate having the keyboard take over more than half my screen. This is an elegant solution! Thank you for posting it!
Edit - Rats! It says it can't initialize SIP CLSIDs for stylus status. Does the TP2 not have any way of telling whether the stylus is in or not? Grrr. So close, but I guess I have to keep on searching...

Looking for small Stylus friendly Keyboard
have an HTC Touch Diamond 2 with WM6.5. Since I have it I am not happy with the big keybord. Using the stylus very often, even with the big keyboard. But this takes so much space, even on my old Touch Cruise with QVGA I have more space thanks to the small keyboard.
How and where can i get a working CAB with the small keyboard from WM6.1 ?
Think it must be that in this picture.
