[Q] Canada Rogers or Fido network profile - Optimus 7 General

I am looking for the Network Profile XML that I can import or click on in the MFG app. If anyone can be of assistance it would be more than appreciated. I am using the LG E900 sent to myself from M$ as a developer unlocked phone and the original carrier was SingTel (somewhere in asia). Hopefully this all helps and canadians everywhere can enjoy MMS again

Since LG never released a phone for Fido or Rogers, the chances are there is no available XML from the MFG app, as I have just confirmed. You will most likely be forced to change the profile manually, again through the MFG app...
Also, if your phone is the LG E900, and not the E900h, then the WCDMA 850 band is locked on your phone's modem, meaning you will not be able to get 3G on Rogers, Fido, Telus, or Bell (The same might be true for the 1900 band, but I cannot confirm that).

unlocking the sx56

I live in Toronto Ontario, Canada and cand seem to get unlocking for
the service here. I've tried the unlocking from this website...it worked
but it doesn't have the Canadian service providers listed.
Can you PLEASE help.
Thank you in advance for your help.
you may contact me to get your SX56 unlocked.
I'm in Toronto
If the unlocking worked you just need to insert the sim, it should log on automatically, there is no need to choose a provider, your phone will work on any of the bands that your sx56 is capable of which is either 900/1900 or 900/1800.

SX56 only works on GSM 900/1900, so it cannot work on any other bands.
it cannot work on GSM 1800 or GSM 850 (North America) band
As I said "either 900/1800 or 900/1900, whichever the sx56 is capable of.
there should be no problem if u unlocked it using the software on this site. Jus pop ur SIM in and make a call to see. When it comes to inputting the correct values for GPRS usage, you will need to get those from ur provider. I use Fido and it works fine and since Rogers supports the SX56 u should have no problem getting help from Customer Service.
Good Luck

[Q] Compatibility with Canadian Network

Hello
I am in Canada for 2 weeks and found my blackstone with eurpeen SIM (SFR) is unable to to find /connect to any local provider.
I bought a new SIM from ROGERS, but this niether did not work.
My question, is the Blackstone compatible with Canadian network?
Thanks for helps
Yes, it should be fine. SFR will roam onto Microcell or Rogers in Canada - a PDF guide to roaming on SFR including coverage is at
http://docs.sfr.fr/guide/Guide_de_Voyage_SFR.pdf
Make sure your band setting in phone options is set to Auto or GSM1900+850. It might have defaulted to GSM900+1800 which won't work in Canada.

Optimus 7 and Tmobile

So, I just bought this phone - I like the way it looks, and I wanted to try out WP7.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to get it working with tmobile (I live in the US)
It's a LG E-900h, with the canadian telus firmware on it. What do I need to do if I want to use it with Tmobile?
Let's start with what is not working for you. Can you at least make phone calls? Give us some details.
phone calls
Nope - Can't make phone calls - right now, the phone tells me my SIM card is invalid (in settings/cellular, it says "no sim")
I assume this can be fixed - but the methods I've tried haven't worked (I've tried debranding via the engineering menu, and swapping to the tmobile network profile)
Is there anything else I should try?
Its odd that it says No SIM, I'd figure it would at least ask you for an unlock code. Are you sure you have the SIM in the correct way? If you put them in backwards, the phone won't read it.
If your phone then asks for an unlock code, you'll need to SIM unlock it.
From this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9827632#post9827632 :
Unfortunately, LG Optimus 7 does not support AWS, hence it will not support 3G neither on T-Mobile USA nor Wind Mobile or Mobilicity (it will fall back to GSM/EDGE modes on T-Mobile and will always be in Wind Away zone roaming through Rogers if you were to use Wind Mobile SIM card).
Not to stop you short, but just a heads up I guess.
If you go into the MFG settings to change the network profile thare are a couple that show "TMU_US" thought I'm not sure if that's even TMobile or what carrier that would be or even which one to try. But good luck.
yep
I saw that thread before hand, and I was anticipating the 3g problem (a tmobile rep had told me this as well)
My issue is making phone calls ATM. everyone else says when you insert a foreign sim, it asks for an unlock code - which mine hasn't done yet. I did buy the phone used on ebay (the seller claimed it was unlocked).
Regardless - right now, it says invalid sim. I inserted it with the notched corner UP
**SURE ENOUGH - sim card was in backwards. it's working great now
Don't feel bad, I forgot about that, but I did the same thing.
So use to haveing it only fit one way that I didn't pay attention to the picture, but I got it working after a litle while too.
Let us know how the connections are working out for you.
I have a Telus LG Optimus 7 phone, bought an unlock code on eBay for $10. When going down to US I use a TMO SIM card, and I can confirm that phone works perfectly for 2/2.5G (GSM/EDGE), and doesn't work with TMO 3G (which is AWS, same as Wind Mobile and Mobilicity, like someone mentioned above). But luckily for me TM has a $2/day plan which offers unlimited calls/text/2G internet, which makes it perfect for 1-2 day intermittent trips across the border, EDGE speeds are just enough to have my e-mails coming and maps working. It would support full 3G on AT&T, but they don't have any good prepaid data plans - the only one they could offer was 100 mb for $20, which expires in 7 days.
optimus 3g
are you sure that there's no way to change settings in the engineering menu to make it work with Tmo's 3g?
Also - what do I need to do to update my optimus to the new build of wp7?

I'm absolutely certain - you can manually switch between supported frequencies: WCDMA 850 MHz, WCDMA 900 MHz, WCDMA 1800 MHz and WCDMA 1900 MHz, but the phone has no support for AWS 1700/2100 (unlike regular WCDMA, when uplink and downlink use channels from the same band, AWS is also using different band for upstream and downstream).

When you say "new build" what exactly do you mean? Which build do you currently have? Does Zune tell you that you have latest firmware?

SIM cards not working on my unlocked 3G unit

I have an unlocked 3G unit purchased from negri. I believe it is the HK version. So far it's still stock. I brought it to Korea for a business trip and tried inserting two different SIM cards from two different friends' smart phones. Both phones have voice+data plans on SK Telecom, a Korean CDMA service provider. When the SIM cards are inserted and powered on, no signal is found. When I go into the mobile network settings and try to manually select the network operator, I get the error message, "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network."
I'm guessing it's the APN setting. If so, where would I need to find out what the proper settings are for this service provider?

If, sk telecom, is a cdma then it will not work with gsm 7.7. If sk telecom is gsm then voice would have work and you have no internet due to no apn. You did not get both so the logical conclusion its that sk grapevine telecom is cdma and not compatible with your gsm 7.7. Go to a cell phone place and ask for a gsm service. 3g hsdpa for the 7.7 operates on the 850, 900, 1900, 2100.

Got it. Thanks. I'll have to visit a service provider store today and see what's available. Thanks.
Had the same problem your device is an import so you must register it online if you have Korean friend they can help you.

Flash Verizon S8 with european firmware

Hi guys,
I bought a Verizon s8 in the states and wanted to use it in Europe. I live in the Netherlands, so I swapped in my Vodafone some instead of using the Verizon Sim and everything works fine besides mobile data. I can not change the APN settings as they are locked. Carrier says it's Verizon though it's using the Vodafone Network.
So I was wondering, can I flash the firmware with a european version to get access to the APN settings and remove the carrier lock?
Best
the s8 verizon is not locked just put your sim card in and thats it.you cannot flash international rom on the us version odin wont let you it will fail even if you somehow made it it will brick the phone.the reason is because the us s8 version uses snapdragon chipset and the s8 international version uses exynos chipset they are completely different.
the option you have is to flash the us unlocked version to the verizon s8 i did on mine i have verizon also.

The model i have is G955U1 ?
Thanks again.

Tv87, I am in the exact situation as you. Have you resolved your problem? If so, what was the solution?
I just moved to the Netherlands a few weeks ago and switched my S8's SIM Card from Verizon to Vodafone. Everything worked fine except for mobile data. The Vodafone rep told me that my APN settings were grayed out / locked; therefore, until they could be edited, my phone would not receive mobile data.

They are not locked, the phone still thinks it has a verizon sim and that's why you cant edit the settings, do a complete factory reset.
And anyways, even with editable apn settings you wont get lte, because your s8 is lacking the european lte bands.

What makes you say that?
https://www.phonearena.com/news/Che...on-T-Mobile-and-Sprint-use-in-the-USA_id77933
Says:
"In Europe, most carriers base their networks on bands 3 (1800 MHz), 7 (2600 MHz) and 20 (800 MHz). China, on the other hand, uses a whole different 4G LTE standard - while the Western world has rolled out FDD-LTE networks, China and large parts of Asia use TDD-LTE."
And several places online show all those as being supported on the g950u.

I did a factory reset while my Vodafone SIM Card was in the phone. I am now getting the following message:
Sorry, we're having trouble activating your phone.
If you're moving your phone number from your old phone to this one, make sure your old phone is turned off.
In addition, I get the following message on the very next screen:
You can set up your phone using Wi-Fi, but you won't be able to make or receive calls until your phone has been activated on the Verizon network.
Is there anyway to unhinge my phone from the Verizon network!? Before I left the United States, Verizon assured me my phone was not locked to their network; however, it appears to be based on the messages received after factory resetting my phone.

What you can try is to flash the USA csc instead of the VZW one that you have right now.
