Hi
I noticed there is something like a VGA camera on the top front left. I was wondering if it is a camera? How to make it work?
Thanks

No, this is not camera. In left top corner of lg there are two sensors. One is controling brightnes of display, second is proximity controler. You can test both of them in mfg app in engineer menu, device test, sensors test

Frontal Camera

You can make photos with front camera, but you need software, which can do it.
Try this one:

Samsung Galaxy S 3 Sensors!?

Hello,
So today i noticed on the left side of the speaker, that there are 3 sensors, both of them are together on the same place, which should be Light sensor and proximity sensor... but what about the other one more to the left? Seems pretty much like a Small LED to me.
Check this picture guys and u will see it clear enough!

Update after a test [Post #4]
Center: Proximity
Right: Light
Left: ?
Is one the light sensor for the auto-brightness thing, and the other two possibly a 'sender/reciever' set up for detecting when it's close to your face in order to turn the screen off during a call?

I believe the proximity sensor and light sensor are both together, which leaves the left sensor... i wonder what it is
May be u r right, i am dying to find out!
I will test it with a Q-tip. I pointed a flashlight with high brigthness on the sensors now, the left one doesnt seem like a LED... so that option just kinda died
Ok tested it, qtip during the call shows that the proximity sensor is the one in the CENTER.
Used a black fabric for the light sensor... with my finger over the fabric covered the left and right sensors, result: RIGHT sensor is the light sensor!
Leaves: Left sensor.... what is it?
Center: Proximity
Right: Light
Left: ?
spy cam - big brother is watching you!
beats me i hadnt even noticed it!
I would probably guess that the two closest together are a Transmitter/ Receiver pair.
It could be emitting infra-red and using a receiver to detect how far away an object is based upon the light returned.
One way to sometimes 'see' this is to use a normal camera to look at it, if it shows a white spot, there is a good chance it's emitting IR.

[Q] What are the four holes on the top for?

Front camera, ALS, infrared sensor and what's the fourth one?
I found in the video that the led is on the left of the speaker and cannot be recognized as a hole, which is the same as S3.
I don't have any idea. I tried to search too, but I can't find any information. Anyone can help us?
I believe the fourthopening maybe a microphone for recording sound bits that can be added to the camera shot.
The four are (left to right):
gesture sensor, infrared emitter, infrared sensor (those two make up the proximity sensor, and then the camera.
Also even more to the left but usually not visible unless turned on, is the notification led.
I suggest you watch this:

Yes, the emmitor for remote controlling is on the side of the top of the phone.

It's the round black 'spot' on the right in the 'metal' band.

[Q] Camera Feature To Project Yourself In a Frame?

This is driving me crazy.. Right before I got the Note 3, I saw a youtube video where someone was showing off the camera of the Note 3.. and one of the features, was to specify a blank space in front of the camera (say a photo frame, a LCD, an ipad, etc) and the Note 3 would take your face from the front camera, and place it in the frame of whatever you are pointing your back camera at..
So say you are pointing your camera at a photo frame on the wall, you can "project" your face on the wall inside the photo frame.
I cannot find this feature on the Note 3, nor the original video anymore..
Am I smoking something?

The feature is already present
Just select the Dual Photo....and once your front photo camera appears just press the the Arrow appears on the screen and choose the Glue Style from the many dual photo styles (Actually It's the 1st one in the list),,,,
Now Adjust your front photo on the frame you want from the back camera live preview (Approximate Adjusting),,,,
when done press the STICK button which appears on the screen...The mobile will then perfectly adjust it within the selected frame,,,
This Mode works on both still imaging and Video Recording.....

Gyroscope and double tap to wake

Hello zenfone users,
Today my sister's zenfone 2 laser arrived (ze550kl) and I have two questions:
The specification says that it has gyro but it's not working in youtube or Google camera ;\ cpuz shows "orientation sensor" that works like gyroscope because it shows angle of the device. What do you think? Is this real gyroscope that we will be able to use after modding?
My second question is about double tap to wake. I enabled it in settings but it's not working at all. In one shop that had zenfone laser on display it was working flawlessly. Is this hardware issue? It hasn't got any protector on screen. In fact all of the off screen shortcuts are not working.
Edit
OK sorry I'm stupid xD Doble tap works. I was trying it using this plastic cover that it comes with so proximity sensor thought that something is in front of it so tap wasn't working sorry.
My phone is ze 500 kl that's why it doesn't have gyro xd
I'm interested in knowing about gyroscope also, I'm planning to buy a ze601kl but if no gyro it's a no go for me...
Did you try with z-devicetest or similar sensors app to see if it works there?
Well I checked cpu-z on my friends moto g 2gen that has real gyro and it has both gyroscope and orientation sensor on the list. Both were showing angle of the phone but orientation in degrees and gyro in radians so that's strange. http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-2-laser/general/specs-asus-zenfone-2-laser-t3242377 this says that it has gyro but for example google camera/youtube 360 can't see it.
edit
allright I found info here: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/sensors/sensors_position.html
Orientation sensor is not a gyro! It works similar but it uses geomagnetic field sensor in combination with a device's accelerometer.
EDIT
ok again I'm stupid it's ze500kl not ze550kl xdd sorry
Plz mod delete this useless thread
