[THEME] Better Gingerbread (Oxygen 2.1.3|Redux 1.2) - Desire Themes and Apps

Here are the tweaks I'm currently running on my Oxygen 2.1.1 ROM by AdamG. I've began a port of this to ihlades' Redux 1.2 ROM. These are purely visual modifications, but one's which improve the cohesiveness of the refresh Google did to the UI.
I have put together 4 flavours, one with a minimal notification layout based on Rori's work, with my own touches, and one with the traditional layout, these are also available with JazzK's PureOxygen battery mod.
What you get
Minimal notification layout (optional)
Smooth sync animations
Smooth charge and discharge
Battery percentage option (GB battery with number in middle)
Gingerbread style notification icons
Transparent notification shade background
Green notification overflow underlay
Green progress bars
Rectangular pop-up borders
Smooth spinners
Transparency to spinners (no more white-to-grey gradient)
Custom lock-screen background (my previous implementation - change \system\framework\framework-res.apk\drawable-hdpi\lockscreen_bg.png before flashing, or with Ninjamorph)

Instructions
**NB - I have not tested these with the Oxygen HBOOT, I have been using CM HBOOT**
Download from Blog
Copy to SD Card
Flash in recovery, or ROM Manager
If you change the lockscreen background before flashing, be sure to disable signature verification.
Restart phone
Enable "Status bar power widget" in Oxygen Settings (without this the minimal layout looks silly)
Choose desired battery in Oxygen Settings
If you have any issues or would like a modification done, feel free to post below. I can't guarantee anything though.

Thank you. These tweaks are awesome.

Thanks a lot Gas!
Already posted on your blog and twitter. But mentioned, that you changed battery font. IMO this one looked better http://themedroid.com/2010/12/smooth-gingerbread/. It was more readable.

AWESOME!!!

Yeah I might have to include some morphs to change the battery. I have a horizontal gingerbread version (currently unreleased), but I think JazzK's is probably the most readable.
I actually find this font more readable than the previous. Not sure why.

hey gas, long time ago^^
do you have some screenshots to see the difference between standard and minimal theme?
would be nice
cheers pa

Oh man, i love you...i've been waiting for this, many thanks

Can I flash it with CWM recovery 2.5.x?

The difference between the two is in the screenshots, the first is minimal, the second is standard. With minimal there is no carrier id and the ' clear' button is in line with the notification title.
Hope they work for you!

Great work!!

Is there anyway to change the battery meter font to the ones you previously made? They were more readable. Thanks

if you do this, I'm sending a great donation

I like the cyan color of Roris work very much. Would like to see this on Oxygen

Great work like always, Gas. Appreciate it!

Problems!
Hello.
First off, greaaat theme!
However, I have a couple of minor problems with this.
1) The name of the cellular network currently connected doesn't appear for me at all. It is not like the picture shown.
2) The clear button - it is not aligned to where your screenshot shows. My one is lower and unaligned with the row.
However I do have to say that I have changed the default fonts to the Ubuntu fonts. Would that be the reason? Given that the size of the clear button matches exactly with the screenshot, just the position doesn't!
Thanks again!
Mo

Same problem with clear button. Default font is changed

I haven't tried it with different fonts, that does make sense though. I'll try and look into it. This mod was pushing my limits of xml editing so not sure how it will go.
If you are using the minimal mod the carrier is not shown at all. I figured I didn't really need it as it is present on the lockscreen anyway. If you need to see the carrier ID then the traditional layout is for you

Not finished yet, I'm still working on the battery, applications and everything else.

Not full theme, only status bar
Nice job man
Just one tip: the roaming icon isn't included in the theme, looks like gray against the black of the bar, when it appears. Just fix this and the bar will be perfect!
Also, i'm really looking forward to see the full theme, keep it up
I love the font but I'm now missing the Swedish letter å, Å.
*edit* The missing letter is showing as 'L' on my phone. Should be an 'A' with a small circle/dot above it. ä and ö are showing as normal.
Is there something I can do to add it?
Otherwise the theme is working well with od 4.0.4. Thanks.

[LAYOUT + ICONS] CommonSense v1.3 (new icons)

Hey all! This is a theme I made to make my device both practical and stylish. I got tired of all of the minimalistic themes out there because they were so unpractical. So many people requested this that I decided to make entire thread for it
I was inspired by a screenshot I saw in the General Android Themes thread but I can't find the post anymore. I haven't made any of the icons myself so all credit goes to the artists at DeviantART The small icons I combined from icons made by chrfb and borncold. There's an about.txt inside the zip file containing all the information about the origins of the icons. The lockscreen is a combination of modified programs by Andrewtst
Feel free to share and modify! I hope you share your own modifications and icons in this thread so that we can develop this theme even further

The round icons are included in the modded widget, but you can download them here. I can't recall who's made them but I just happened to have them on my computer. I think they're from Win7 phones.

My old layout looked like this:
Ah, that's quite similar to the one I saw I liked it but thought it had too few icons and didn't make use of the dock bar. Anyways I like that style a lot. Maybe you could share your icons and wp too so people can use them?
Thanks Jiia
I have a question about the large icon that is to be placed in the center of the screen. How can I make this big, when I add it the icon appears tiny and I cant seem to find an option to make it bigger?
Edit: I am so silly!!! I realised I needed to add this as a widget

So how's the experience with theme.
hmm 14 Downloads and still no comments . Strange
So I'm gonna be the first to report back
Alright, first of all I really appreciate your work and the theme looks lovely! But after using it for one day I have to say, that the transitions are overdone (!) :/
For example, when I click on a tweet in tweetdeck, the timeline fades out and the tweet comes in, which sort of is pretty cool, but if you do that pretty often, you (at least I did) get annoyed from always having to refocus my eye on the text, because it completely disappears for a second.
Anyway, I've cooked my own theme with UOT now, which I'm not that satisfied with to be honest, I would probably use your theme, if there was a version without the transitions
Keep it up!

Brilliant stuff. Love it.
P.s, think the transitions are not overdone at all. Using it all day, and I think it's great.
I love the look of the theme you have done and downloaded it and applied immediately using the Oxygen Updater. However it causes either boot loops at the lock screen or lots of app fc warning messages (lots) as soon as you get passed the lock screen.
Not a complaint, far from it - it looks fantastic.
I am running the resolution at 180 if that has any bearing on my issues with it?
Keep up the good work!
Well I'm not sure about the reason of boot loop mate but I'm using it on the same resolution u r using and no f c. I would recommend it on a clean install before any other application is installed as it has modified services.jar

WP7 (Windows Phone 7)-esque layout on Milestone

Hi all,
I posted this screenshot on Twitter last night and had some interest:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So thought I'd show how I did it.
Yes, and before you say anything - I know the icons aren't quite lined up, but on screen you don't really notice (and it was late, I was tired, and I didn't want to start messing with images! Well, I know 8.25pm isn't late, but I had a busy day, ok? lol)
In the flesh:
So, I'm running MIUI 12.3 on my Milestone (great ROM!), but I doubt that matters - you just need LauncherPro as your Launcher and you should be good to go. It doesn't have to be registered to Plus, but if it is, you'll be able to fit in the battery as well as the clock (by resizing the 4x1 widget to 3x1)...
1) Install LauncherPro and Desktop Visualizer from the Android Market.
2) In LauncherPro settings, set Appearance of the Dock to Custom, and use this image: http://imgur.com/download/N4HuX
3) Under Advanced, set rows to 7 (yes!) and leave columns on 4. This is at the moment the best way I've found the icons line up. It seems the Milestone screen doesn't seem to match other Layout configurations I've seen!
4) You'll also want to Hide the Status Bar.
5) Get the icons from here and download to your SD card: http://cl.ly/587f170f67f0e691eec9
6) Using Desktop Visualizer, layout the icons in 3x1 or 1x2 widgets as above, making sure you Clear the icon text after you select the program to link the image to.
7) Delete all the items from the dock, and use this transparent icon from here for the centre menu button: http://www.elektrobike-hotels.com/markers/transparent.png
8) The clock is the Digital Clock Widget and the battery is BattStat.
I hope that helps some of you!
The source of the files I've used are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781455 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783946. Thank you to those original posters - without you I wouldn't have even tried! However, I couldn't get either layout to line up exactly so had to make my own instructions.
It may be due to the fonts under MIUI, so this make not line up the same on other ROMs - I'm not sure! You may find the first link above actually works better for you if this one doesn't! I know different ROMs seem to layout things a bit differently!
Nice work!
It needs some fine tuning (size/overlap) and some more icons (modern).
Here's a screenshot on my Moto.

Nice theme, the status bar battery icon is weird unless the percentage is shown inside.

Here are some elements waiting to be themed. In gallery I mean the blue stripes that appear by selecting. The share menu should be dark as well as the permissions menu. Please, consider fixing these issues.

Sorry, my powers have the limits Some blue elements exist because i don't know how to change it. Some elements, like app permissions, are not fully themed, because they're separate apps that i am not able to theme.

Anyways you are our superhero, who saves us from those tasteless Huawei designers. I hope that we could some day just change to an aosp-based rom and leave EMUI forever.
