Which step?

You have to "reboot" your phone...turn it off, and turn it back on...
You beat me to posting this, I was JUST about to paste it from word here, when I saw this...(Yes, I know I am 12 hours late, lol.)
Isn't it great that we don't have to unlock or use any workarounds to get registry fixes?

It didn't turn the shutter sound off. Maybe I miss understood something here.

As the volume of the camera shutter sound depends on the volume of the ringtone, you need to set the ringtone volume to be zero to mute the shutter sound.

Not working here either..
Sorry, managed to set the registry key, but the shutter sound is still just as obnoxious as ever, even with volume muted/device on vibrate.

Worked...thanks!
Volume all the way down and no shutter sound.

Works, thanks!

It's working properly Thanx a lot. I can do photos in silent

Does this affect other aspects of the phone?

It worked. Thank you o/

What is the default value? 1?
Btw works perfectly.

thanks
works perfectly

How to turn off shutter sound?

Does anyone know how to turn the shutter sound off for Niki?
I've tried the old registry key we used to turn off old htc device like trinity. But it seems that it doesn't work for niki. (the shutter sound option doesn't show up in menu) Does anyone successfuly shut the shutter sound off in Niki?
Thanks for everyone.
when your on the camera mode, tap the screen so you have the icons, bottom right hand side theres is an icon looks like 3 lines, tap that, tap the cog symbol on this page to go into advanced settings there you will find shutter sound where you can toggle it on/off
hope that helps?
thanks. My problem is: I don't have the shutter sound setting option in advanced settings. I know in old htc device, you can modify registry key and make the shutter sound setting show up. But that doesn't seems to work on the new hTC camera program.

what niki do you have? is it an htc one or does it have orange frimware on it? ive not modded my niki in any way and that setting is there on mine. very strange!
that is strange indeed.
I just followed your steps and managed to successfully remove the sound of my Niki.
@kifklf: when you tap the "3 lines", go to the little wheel menu (suppose it's advanced settings). You should get "page 1/3". should be there ...
thanks everyone, but I'm sure I don't have the shutter sound setting in advanced mode. Guess we have different ROM version. But I guess if you can find a way (registry key?) to hide your shutter sound setting then show it up again. Then that's what I need to show up my setting option.
thanks again.

Volume Button Config

When I press the volume button on the side of the TD2 it brings up the onscreen bar, but it defaults to changing the ringer volume, is there a way to make it change the system volume instead as default, without me having to touch the screen??
Thanks

NO, that's exactly what Steev24 discribed, when having 2 separate volume indicators the Call volume is being changed when pressing vol up/down instead of the System volume.
Anyone else a idea?
Try getting a "HTCVolumeControl.dll" from a Touch HD (Blackstone) I remember they had the configuration the opposite to that of TD2, but you might lose the single volume control option.

[Q] -- Lower Keyboard Volume ????

Hey guys,
I would like to have typing sound effects but at a lower volume. The only way to do this is by lowering the volume from the side button, but this affects the whole phone and I have to change it every time I send a message.
Is there a way I can let the keyboard volume to be low by default ?
Thanks.
Doesnt anyone else want to know that as well ?
not sure if this is what you mean:
settings > menu > all settings > sounds and notifications
you can choose between soft and loud for screen tabs.. default is loud..
just tested but it's not what you mean sorry...
you can set the ring and system volume seperatly then at least your ringtone will stay the same.. but an inconvient thing is it always adjust the ringtone by default so it takes an extra tap to adjust the sytem volume..
Yeah its for screen taps and not the keyboard
Thanks for replying anyway !!
Anyone please ?
As far as I'm aware, there's no way to do this. You can either have the tapping sounds on or off but not on but quiet.
The closest I can think of would be to turn off single volume (Settings>Sound & Display>Single Volume) and then turn your system sound down but this will obviously affect more than just the keyboard tapping sound.

Aw thats unfortunate, one make like to adjust the keyboard tapping volume
Well anyway thanks for replying
mine is set to vibrate (apparenlty by default).. probably drains some battery power but maybe a good substitute for the keyboard sounds? anyway I like it..
or maybe you can find the soundfile for the keyboard in de windows folder (if it is a file) and replace it with a less volume recorded one (or edit it in a sound editor)

I found this a couple of days ago. Probably the SINGLE MOST USEFUL mod to the factory default Sense there is. With dual-volume control, it defaults to System first instead of Ring Volume.

But then again, lowering the System Volume also lowers music / movie / program volume so maybe its a short-term alternative.

Volume Control Rocker

I'm constantly picking my HD2 up and accidentally touching the volume rocker, often turning it to silent (thus missing calls). Is there a way of disabling the rocker, leaving the volume at a preset level, yet still being able to gain access to the volume control screen if required? Sorry if this has been covered before; I did search but didn't see this particular problem addressed.
TIA
Hello folks. Is there no answer out there to this matter.
you can make the rocker adjust only the system volume by making the following registry edit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay
Enter "Default Page" DWORD Data as 0
you can also adjust the volume percentage by this edit:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = ac75pw2r This will make the phone ring at 75%(u can put any value),wait 2 seconds and repeat.
hop this helps

av0pw3r means:
a : phone is activated when a call comes
v0:ring volume is set to 0%.As i mentioned earlier,u can change 0 to any value of your choice upto 100%
p:ring tone plays fully
w3:then phone waits for 3 seconds
r:it repeats the ring tone
hop its clear now

I am using VolDPad application (you can search in the forum), which turns the volume rocker into a D-Pad as the name suggests.
In addition I use AEButton Plus to map other hardware buttons to more useful things. For instance "triple-clicking the start hard-button" opens the SetVolume application (again search forum).
Altough not a single-install solution, this could solve your problem.

HTC HD2 ring volume rocker buttons

Hi,
Really enjoying the HTC HD2 - awesome phone and with the tweaks and tips from xda-developers it just gets better!
But one thing that's annoying me is the volume rocker is really easy to accidently press and I've lost count of the number times I've accidently set the ringer volume to low or to mute so have missed calls!!
Has anyone got any ideas how to either disable the ring volume from being adjusted from the rocker on the side of the phone so just the system volume is adjusted or default it to the "System" volume instead of "Ring"? I've looked throught the registry and can't find anything obvious.
I've tried doing a search for this but can't find anything, so apologies if this has already been answered on another thread....
Cheers.
i wish i know how to disable it too. kidda annoying missing call
I have the sound set to automatic, which mutes the phone while I'm on something in my calendar (meeting etc..) and I tend to hit those volume buttons and change it so it all of a sudden rings during a lesson at the university etc. Really annoying.
For changing System Volume to default:
HKLM\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay --> Set "Default Page" to 0
Now when you hit the rockers the system volume will be changed at first
Greets
