[Q] How to remove screen unlock password - Optimus 7 General

Hello, I was forced to set up password for screen unlocking when I set up my Outlook account - since there is no VPN client, I gave up on using Outlook on Optimus, and deleted Outlook account, but I still have to punch in 4 digit code when unlocking screen...
Any idea how to remove password policy? through registry?

Already tried going under "settings" then "lock & wallpaper" and turn password off from there?
regular phone or demo one? os version?

Well it does if you delete Outlook account, you can disable password with switch, but I would like to use Outlook, and not to have password...
It looks like it is MS prerequisite - password is obligatory if you use Outlook (makes sense, since you read your work e-mail from Exchange, but if I lose my WP7 I will remotely lock it)

deleting exchange email account?
I set up an exchange account, but then I decided I wanted to delete it so I could set up the webmail account instead. I have no trouble deleting a gmail account, but for the exchange/outlook account it won't let me remove it. Any advice or suggestions? I'm tech retarded so if anybody has any suggestions, can they write it so a 12 year old could figure it out? Thanks!
Figured it out!!!
If you're having trouble deleting an exchange account... try this... worked for me:
Start-> Programs-> active sync ... from there, delete your account and it should auto delete it from your email accounts too. Good luck!

I have a similar issue, I set up a "hotmail" account that uses windows live, and even if I set the windows live scheduler to "manual" it still keeps connecting and syncing the phone.
I want to remove the hotmail account setup completely (I have 2 gmail accounts set up perfectly happily), but the "delete" option in Messaging > Options (where all the accounts are displayed), is always greyed out.
Unlike Outlook accounts, the Hotmail account is NOT available via Active Sync, so I can't get at it that way.
Can I remove this account by editing the registry??
AHA!! - I think I just did it! Go into Windows Live, select "Switch Accounts", and then on the first part of setting up a new account, hit the "Reject" button. Windows live disconnects the old account first, by the looks of it.

hotmail email

Hi
My htc hd2 i have set up my hotmail email on this phone, but when I select an account hotmail it is grayed out.
I need to delete this account and then set it back up again, but when i try to delete it i can`t delete it as its greyed out.
Any advice
regards
op
Go to Start, Windows Live, Menu, Account Options and from there you can either clear the password (so you can enter another, if you got it wrong), or you can switch windows live ID.
It automatically ties your hotmail account to windows live, so you can't make changes via the email application as windows live does more than just email.

hotmail or hotmai.com cant delete

I have been trying to set up the hotmail account.
I've tried a couple of times and eventually got an account set up. Then trying it last night, it just decided that it didn't want to connect.
So i tried to delete the old one but it wont let me as its greyed out.
So i created a new one, hoping that the old one will become active and allow me to delete the old one.
Now when i go into the account settings, my yahoo accounts are active and can be deleted, but the 2 hotmail account, one account called hotmai the new one called hotmail.com are just greyed out.
What can i do to make the hotmail account active so that i can delete it?
i am having the same problem too.
I have used an workaround (first create hotmai then edit to hotmail) to add 2 hotmail acco
unts on the device, but there is no way to remove it.
I take it that no one has come across this problem before?
or have i put this is the wrong place?
I found that I could create the account using the "Windows Live" application, and everything was simpler from there.

+1. Sod it +100!
Windows live allows you to set up 1 hotmail account with minimal effort and also gives you push email ability. Unless you want multiple hotmail accounts then you shouldn't be doing it any other way.

Yahoo mail password location

Hello guys, I lost my password of yahoo mail, but fortunately my password is stored on my WP7 HD 2 phone, it automatically updates emails and working well. When I am checking my password field on mobile phone, it just shows black circles and I can't detect my password. As regards password restoration, it is impossible, because I don't remember my security question answer. Please help me. )))

Why don't you try to log into your Yahoo account on a regular PC browser and try to retrieve your forgotten password? If you've forgotten your security answers contact Yahoo support. No other way around it. BTW...what happened to your alternative email account you're supposed to have set up when you first opened your Yahoo account?

I have tried but they ask me security question, which answer I have not remembered. When i was creating yahoo e-mail I have not alternative e-mail. Otherwise, I have logined in my WP7 phone 1 month ago and e-mail is working very well. I think that, if someone will help me to pick up password from my wp7 phone. Could you answer me there can I detect my passwords from my wp7? I have installed touch explorer, but I can't find anything. :|||

Problems configuring IMAP/POP on Windows Mobile 6.5

Hi. When trying to configure Gmail on my WM 6.5 device, it automatically chooses the IMAP mode which leaves me only with the options:
=> Once the messages deleted from the phone:
1 - Delete them from the server
2 - Put them in server's bin
(3 - Keep them in the Inbox doesn't exist).
I actually don't want any action to take place (once some messages deleted), cause it doesnt mean if a message is too heavy or unneeded to keep on the phone that i want it to be deleted completely. Thats completely absurd and a major unexpected drawback on WM 6.5. Yet, i can't get the option to configure my Gmail as POP, to avoid this problem. In the same time i can configure mailboxes on other servers as POP and get the right options. Those are servers that WM 6.5 doesnt have pre-loaded settings for (meaning all mainstream servers fall under the IMAP rule). I just dont see why for Gmail the system forces you to select IMAP with those restrictive useless options. I tried deactivating IMAP in my mailbox but it doesn't change anything. Im sick of that.
What the issue is here about? Is there any patch for this problem which i consider to be really serious?
Thank you.
To bypass Windows Mobile's bullheaded insistance on choosing Imap for gmail, yahoo, etc email accounts:
When you do Menu-->Tools-->"New Account" DO NOT enter a gmail or yahoo email address on the first E-mail Setup page. Just use [email protected] for the address, enter your real password, hit next.
Next screen has "Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the internet". This is what you are looking for. Uncheck the box and hit next.
Choose "Custom Domain" for your e-mail provider. Hit next.
Enter foobar (or anything actually) for E-mail Provider Domain. Hit next.
Now you can fix things up and enter relevant data on following screens. It will let you set your incoming and outgoing servers and choose pop or imap. Just make sure to correct any entries where it used the earlier bogus data you fed it to fill things in (like the user name)
Be sure to fill in "Display name" exactly the way you want it to appear in pocket outlook - it CAN NOT be changed after you create the new account. If you mess that up you have to start over from scratch, and any emails already downloaded in that account will be deleted from the device.
Works on HTC Tilt2 (AT&T) w/ stock WM6.5
