Changing default Android keyboard - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello.
I have installed stock Gingerbread by tytung and didn't like the new keyboard. Desipe many ppl report it's better I find 2.2 stock keyboard more comfortable for me as it has bigger buttons(russian has more letters and they are easier to hit then).
I actually found an .apk but I didn't find the way I can install it. I tried using EasyInstall that is able to install apks from SD card but it didn't worked.
Help please+)

Bump.
No one knows how to replace the keyboard?

What do u mean with "didn't work". Do u get an error message or just nothing changed with the keyboard?
If just nothing changed do the following:
1.Go to the main android settings and there you should have a menu called "language & input" (just a guess cause I have only a german menu). There you have to select the new keyboard.
2. Then just open the message app and tap AND HOLD in the field where you would write the message. A popup will appear. Click on it and change the input method.
Then you should be ready to go.

I meant it's not installed. I choose it to install but at the end I get "Application wasn't installed". That's it.
Just to clarify I want to change Gingerbread stock keyboard with Froyo stock keyboard as I like its layout.
Putting .apk with Froyo keyboard in /system/app didn't work at all - Android OS simply doesn't recognize it. I guess because of exect the same system name - Android keyboard.

Swype problem

I've tried installing swype but when I chose the keyboard it says "Open of EnglishUS failed!" and doesn't show the keyboard up.

The thread suggested is closed and i couldnt find the answer you were after either. I used to have this working but since i hard reset to save/clean up RAM the phone works great except i now get your error message. This only appears with v3.9 from the T2.
Based on various forums this is a common thing. Also stuffs up internet, email and many other settings (for some anyway). No fix on all of these forums except to use the Omnia extracted version 2.0. IMO this is quicker, the hold down key for numbers actually works unlike 3.9 which is very hit and miss. Sure it doesnt look as good as the keys are a bit smaller etc but use something like Lesscro skin and it looks great and actually works.
However for me anyway if you use Wifi and it can lock your phone or the keypad dissapears for some reason, turn Wifi off and it works like a charm and is very quick.
sorry for the essay

Locate the Swype folder in the /Windows folder then cut and paste it to your /Program Files folder.

Does HTC Aria support hebrew?
Can you read hebrew SMS messages?
Hebrew keyboard?
Thank you,
Oved
Yea, I believe AnySoftKeyboard, which lets you install multiple-language keyboards, from the Market has a Hewbrew keyboard.
I just got my new HTC ARIA & tried installing AnySoftKeyboard.
It say it was installed successfuly but i cant see the program in my device.
Any idea someone?
make sure to enable the keyboard through setting >> language and keyboard.

Keyboards will not be found in programs , but can be seen in Settings>Applications if installed.
To activate go to Settings>Language&keyboard to activate and configure.
To set the Input Method (choose the keyboard you want to use when multiple keyboards are activated) , do a long press on any text input box (i.e. google search) and select Input Method.

Help! Deleted Input Method

Hi All!
I ***sucessfully*** rooted my X10A.
In the process, I have deleted the default and all existing Input Method. I have no keyboard!!!
What do I do?!!
I downloaded the HTC Keyboard, tried to install thru the InstallAPK windows app, but it's not working , it keeps blabbing about no device detected.
Help...
Resolved!
Hey!
I managed use the root commands to install the HTC keyboard.
Does anyone where to get the original SE keyboard template.
Please?
Thanks.
The HTC IME mod is much better than the original SE keyboard, i think you should give it a try.
don't panic !
You can activate the defaut input (maybe Htc IME) :
Push Menu key (left key) / param / country param / choice a keyboard
Open an application wich ask to use a input (like web browser) long push on the input (url) field, a context menu will appeared chose an input again..
retry to fill a field, the keyboard work now...
Il it not work, you can install one, with the adb command line (from your computer)
Thanks...
Thanks...
I got the HTC keyboard installed, and it's great!
Now, regarding loaders or the main screen template, which one is the best?
I am currently using the default, which is factory-reset of 023 firmware (which got me into the loosing the keyboard situation in the first place).
I need a loader / main screen that can do pages left and right, not just down.
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general

Swype 1.54.28.7337 QVGA with LS fix

Proportionally scaled

More info on my blog:
http://marurban.netii.net/?p=95
I tested it on my HTC Wildfire. If someone test, please write if it works.
Isn't this warez?
EDIT: Tested, works for a few seconds, then FCes. Would be great if it worked, as I don't think the official Swype supports QVGA. What is LS fix?
Tattoo has a QVGA resolution, I tested it on Wildfire in the official version does not work landscape mode.
LS = Landscape
If on (tattoo) the official version works in landscape mode please delete the topic.
Well, your version doesn't appear to work at all...
Where can I get the original version to test? From market?
sadly i tried it and it force closes

I'm trying this right now. I also tried the version without LS fix (with PT fix) and that FC as well, so the problem isn't in the LS fix.
EDIT: No luck Would be great if someone got this going...!
Hi. I have a problem.
I installed swype, then I went to settins> regional settins & text> In text settins check SWYPE box, but when I need the keyboard always is showed the native one.
What is it wrong?

Worked _____ on my U8100. Are you sure this isn't w___z? Is this time trialed? It's unbelievable. Landscape works great too.

[Q] Samsung Keyboard: Language issue

Using a roted N910C with CXXU1ANK5 firmware. I am using the samsung stock keyboard. My issue: I am writing in several languages which is why in added "input languages" in the samsung setting menu. Now I have English (US), German and French installed. However, whenever I get back into the "select languages" menu, the added languages need "update". Then I select "update" and the update is downloaded with a clearly visible progress bar. Back to settings, back to "select languages" and bam: The "update" button is back. That alone would just annoy me. But worse: Whenever I am entering text with the stylus, the "to be updated" languages are no longer available.
Tried clearing chache and re-flashing the ROM. No success.
Searched quite a bit but could not find anyone with that problem. Am I the only one? Anyone has a fix for that? Thanx for help.

That does sound like a rare issue, but I think this issue can be easily fixed. I will get in touch with Samsung Executive Developer Support and get back to you. In the meanwhile, go to the application manager in settings, swipe to ALL and clear data on Samsung Keyboard.
