[Q] Removing vodafone start up screen on wildfire - Wildfire General

I was told to post in here as you's guys would have all the answers. Really need to remove the vodafone startup screen from my girls xmas present as we are on o2. Cant really give her a new phone with the vodafone boot screen with us being on o2. So my question is, do i need to root the phone in order to do this? I use Ubuntu also, so if there is any relevant programs for it could they be linked to. this all has to be done by xmas eve aswell, short time frame i know but hopefully i can get it done.
Thanks in advance
Donal

You'll need to completely de-brand the phone to do this ... this usually requires using the gold-card method.

Urgent Request (XDA II Locked, Total Noob , Please help!)

Hi all,
first off all i'd like to say Hi to everyone as im new here.
Also id like to thank everyone for readingmy problems
Any way i purchased an XDA II about a Week ago from Ebay its really my fault as in the item description it said there was a problem with the phone it wont start as its locked.
The phone goes to a Blue screen after you ON it and do the screen configiration etc
The blue screen has Cognito on it saying 'Warning this Devcie is Locked'
then under it:
'If you are installing from the MMC card please wait.
Otherwise, either insert the MMC card and do a cold boot, or contact Cognito to unlock the device.
Im not sure what this means and if i leave the phone for a while or type it from it takes me to a password screen in white with the keyboard on it.
----
Im not sure what to do if you can help me you will save me alot of money otherwise do i just chuck the phone away also
ive tried a Hard Reset by clicking the POWER BUTTON, RESET KET.
nothing happens just the phone loads up and makes me Calibrate the screen.
Ive tried this process while also pressing the D-PAD i get a screen with Serial with V1.06 i think at the bottom
i dont really know how i can know if its Hard resetted.
So please peolple take a Minute to help me thanks alot.
may work not too sure though

Newbe needs assistance with UK Orange M600

Hi all,
I have the Orange M600 which has numerous issues - Orange insist there is no new firmware out even though the one that comes with it is ancient
I would like to upgrade my Rom - I know *absolutely nothing* about doing so though, but I have spent a few hours reading through these forums trying to learn what to do.
I have learnt about the G3 and G4 models (I have a G4).
Question 1) Is this a good rom to put on? -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283965&highlight=m600
Question 2) Will I need to do anything else to my device to flash it? My device is probably CID locked.
Question 3) Can I backup my original ROM and flash it back if it goes wrong?
So...what is it about the current ROM that you are not happy with?
You can end up with a very expensive paperweight by trying to fix something that ain't broke.
Be very careful. I've done a few hacks and tweaks but the one thing I have not done is flash the ROM - too risky if you ask me.

We have many devices with the same issue. Constant freezing on the today screen when you wake the device from standby, sometimes the phone takes a while to connect (i.e when it's ringing you press the green button but it takes several seconds before you can hear people on the other end of the phone), sometimes the phone takes ages to dial...
Basically we'd like to try updating the firmware on one of our devices to see if it makes any difference.
In that case - click the XDA-Wiki link at the top of the page and read the instuctions there. Some have reported that the later ROMS are more responsive but as I said - it's a risky process.
I run mine overclocked and it's stable and responsive. No real problems.

Removing the operator splash screen hermes 100

Hi all, just a quick question , i've managed to add a custom bootscreen to the spv m3100 but for the life of me i cant get rid of the orange operator screen what appears straight after the custom screen that i've added to the phone. the software i've used are 1,nb_image_converter.exe 2,nbhtool.exe and 3rd RUUWrapper.exe. I dont want to get rid of the windows mobile for wm6 as it's lovley imho, just want to get rid of the damn operator logo and i thought by reading the wiki on the subject would of done that but nope, yes i have searched xda & google, tried loads of differnt keywords & spent like a week trying to figure out how to do it, I've come close with adding the custom screen, but no cigar on removing the operator bootscreen as that's the final thing i have to do so i'm rid of orange complety, have i missed a step in using the software programs or is there another program i need to use? thx hope i can get it removed, just need a bit of a push in the right direction so to speak as where to look & what to do really as i'm going round in cricles trying all sorts
**** Close the topic now **** my bad when i was using the second program to make the rom it said second screen and i thought that was the welcome96.png image it was going to over ride, just done another flash of the phone and added the same image into the first screen & second screen, and now the orange operator logo is finally gone, phew now my phone is my own, not branded and it's lovely, thx xda for all the information i've learnt browsing the forums & reading the wiki , now all i've got to do is stick it on ebay now jking, after all the hours i've spent learning and worry'ing am i going to brick the phone, nope the spl bootloader did it's trick phew, thx again i'm a bloody happy chappie

ME TOO!!!
I have had exactly the same happen to me, it appears that O2 are total amateurs when it comes to supplying ROM upgrades. not only that but you will find that the support no. on the site actually takes you nowhere. I sent mine back to the supplier and after trying to reflash the ROM they were unsuccessful and so i am now waiting on a new XDA. Dont bother with O2 as they were no help at all to me, firstly i couldnt get through at all and after 2 weeks of emailing them every day i got a response telliung me how to put the unit into boot loader mode (no help at all!!!!!)
Good luck to you in getting this issue resolved, i only hope that you have it insured like myself.
Once again O2 you are indeed crap!! thanks for the service that i didnt recieve, altho i pay way over the odds for this otherwise worthy handset.
£££££ what does it cost to repair? £££££
my phone is using a vodafone sim card and i bought the phone off ebay so reciepts etc are nowhere
will o2 still help me fix this ?
do you know how much it will cost ??
or am i best to throw it in the bin
plz reply soon
thank you people

Help please???

Hiya
I bought a Touch HD off ebay which was an orange original unit but was unlocked so I could use any sim in it. However, two weeks into buying it and it started to vibrate as soon as I switched it on. I contacted HTC who replaced the whole of the internal boards and sent it back to me. i got it back this morning and now its asking me for a sim unlock code??? I get a white screen saying the network is locked and a long box in which to put an unlock code.
Is there any way I can re-unlock the phone without putting this code back in or do you think I'm going to have to ask HTC for a code???
thank you very much for any advice given

Well first of all, all Touch HD's vibrate when they are switched on, but I assume you mean it kept doing it and wouldn't stop with yours or something. And secondly I'm sure HTC won't give you an unlock code to re-unlock your phone as you say it is an Orange branded device, but it's worth asking them. If they won't help you then your only options are to take it to a shop to have it unlocked, or do it yourself at home via one of the many unlock websites. You'll have to pay for these options though.
Hiya
thanks for the reply
Ive sussed that it is indeed been relocked back to orange. The have apparently sent me a new replacement phone so I will have to get it unlocked( tried an orange cheepo sim this morning and didnt get the request for a code)
I cant believe I didnt think about it properly but Im that up to my eye balls with assignments and essays for uni my mind has been all over the place this past few weeks LOL
I was wondering if the unlock software from Oilpro might do the trick. Ive priced locally and it means being without the phone for four days and paying......35 quid to unlock it.
Back in the day when I had my SP3100 the software was free but I realise that I havent been a really active member on the forum- mainly because you guys are so damned brainy and I dont feel I have anything to contribute like you do. Give me a camera and I can talk for days( am a tog doing a ba hons degree in photography) but phones and techy stuff about roms....well, Im at a loss. Maybe thats a course I should take next LOL
anyway, thank you for the reply. Much appreciated.
I'll try to find somewhere to get the unlock software at a reasonable price.

forgot to say that it did indeed vibrate all the time when switched on( and got damned hot too) but that has now been sorted with a new phone.....
I did the OliPro way and it was easy to do. One of the cheapest options too I think.
Just tried to buy the unlock software from oliopro's site and tried to use paypal and it wont let me pay via that method. Its asking me to create an account and give my credit card details...
I'm not willing to give any details like that ATM and my money is tied up in a paypal account too.
If Oliopro is reading this any help gratefully received.
