Dual Sim on Vogue/Polaris compatible with Android - Touch CDMA General

Hey,
i want to use a different provider for phone and internet.
There are dual-clips for Kaiser on wimobile, but im note sure if this is system dependent.
Is it even possible to use 3g and phone at different sim-cards at the same time? Or do i have to switch to the 3g data-sim for internet and then the phone isnt working the whole time the connection stands?
Thx

if you manage to get a vogue to work off a SIM let alone 2 your a braver man than me

AH damn..
The Vogue doesnt support sim cards? Its this cdma thing?
Sorry but its not usual here (germany) so i wasnt thinking about this, because of the similarities polaris <-> Vogue.
Was posting here, because Polaris forum seems not very active...
Hmm.. where´s a good place to ask this?

yea vogue is the CDMA (and arguably better) version of the Elf, so yea no sims on cdma atleast not in the USA

3G UMTS in our XDA II?

i want to know if it's posible to have 3G in our XDA II via software or not?
Ha!
Nope.
ummmhh. it would be very nice. the question is: can 3G be emulated?
Sorry, that is ridiculous. This would be like emulating a GPS Receiver with your mobile phone. It's a hardware issue!

Does anyone know what's the best Radio for Treo?

I'm thinking of upgrading the Radio, but I haven't find anything about the Treo's Radio.
Any suggestion?

Skype for Sprint HERO

Hey Everyone. This is my first time starting a new thread, but a recent release got me interested.
Yesterday, Skype released Skype Mobile for Android. Yee Haw, right?
Wrong. It's only for Verizon. My personal opinion, that's dumb.
I've got a Sprint HTC Hero, and I would *LOVE* to have Skype on it.
Is there anyone out there who's freaking awesome and is planning on developing a work-around for the Verizon-only bit?
If so, I beg you, PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED!
Thanks in advance!
I remember having an official Skype program on my phone shortly after I got it. It was chat only, though. Now I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm guessing that they check which carrier you are on and block it to any carrier that doesn't want it used on their network. I'm guessing Sprint would lose out on their international plans if Skype Mobile with VOIP was allowed.

I can call any place the world from this Skype app on my phone to PC!!! It dials a local # and then connects to the user on computer just fine!
Hi I'm not as knowledgeable. How do you download the app to
HTML:
phone and install it? Also, what are the chances that it will run on n1 on T-Mobile network? Thanks in advance.
You are the best @heroid007 !!
I have the software, but I think it is totally different from windows mobile. I think we are being charge locally when we make calls unlike winmo.

would changing your ROM/build allow you to use the Verizon version of skype to make call?
your saying they block apps based on phone carrier, is that determined by the pre-loaded ROM/ just a code that the market reads to determine the apps that are shown or is it a hardware thing?
i was reading that new build had access to all app.
sorry im still new to the ROM thing.

It use 100pr of cpu, that's not good. (HTC DESIRE)
maybe is other solution for skype?
something odd that i've noticed is withthe 2.2 market skype doesn't even appear, but on a 2.1 rom it does.
Search Google for ( "index of" com.skype.android.lite.apk ) it works on other carrier phones and can run on WiFi (vzw dont). Would upload but not anywhere near home.

On this thread http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=636024 crobs808 mention a GSM version of vouge. Is there such a thing since I had an elfin before and I pretty sure that its the gsm touch. Please explain.

I think he is talking about general GSM phones (keep in mind that some of the Android builds like myn's, would work for the Kaiser and the Polaris, which are GSM devices).
You are correct about the Elf/Elfin being a GSM version of the Vogue though.

[CLOSED/DZ] My friends Desire Z

Edit: Thread closed, Dump created and posted, Discussion no longer needed. ~TheRomMistress
So her story is a "friend" gave it to her. I am a Desire owner myself but grabbed a pic anyway. Still has a bunch of stickers on it from HTC wit the code name and number on it.
Remove that code from the pic, dump the ROM & you will see it running on your desire this weekend...

I know how to flash ROMs and all that but have never dumped a ROM. I use OSX, have Android SDK and know my way around both OSX and Windows. Any starter tips to get me on my way? Will this affect the current state of the phone?

why dont u post in the Desire or N1 forum? I'm sure the chefs there would be eager to tell u how to dump the ROM since it would benefit them greatly to be able to port to their devices..

yea i'd like to know as well
only thing i've heard is that bell is getting it sometime in november. But since your friend already has her hands on one i'm hoping it might come earlier than that
If this isn't a joke then get over to Desire Android Dev section. We have a HD rom running without camera but a Desire Z dump would be perfect for us.

Calm down, we have AWS band carriers up here too. Just cause it's up here doesn't mean it's NAM (850/1900)

Aye I know, but the slight possibility is there
Could the OP please update on this ??
HAPPY EDIT:
just saw the other post ("dump") from slimdizzy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8408188
It says "BELL MOBILITY" yesssss
Please correct me if I am wrong, but BELL CANADA runs over UMTS bands V and II (850 and 1900 MHz) !!!
.
@gtrab As far as I know, Bell/Telus/Rogers all work on the same bands as AT&T. The device had a sim in it and was working on 3G on Bell. Bell also has HSDPA (or whatever it is) but I did not see the H icon in the status bar like on my Desire, which is on Telus.
Great news, its NAM version !!
Does you friend get 3G or H with it ??
