never flashed a kernal before without flashing an entire rom with it, so hope this isn't a dumb question. How will this affect my app data (assuming everything goes right)? Will I have to reinstall everything?

Excellent.
Does this work on the stock JF6 Captivate?

Didn't even catch that. I'm on JF6 too.

since this is a custom kernel, does this suffer from the bug affecting other non-OEM kernels (wake up lag)?

I can't do the custom kernel with an update.zip or I would...

I understand, I completely forgot SuperRooter was an update mod.

Hmmm, I flashed the pit/pda, flashed the signed zip, and I don't see it in my app drawer. Is it supposed to be somewhere else?

Gotcha, it's there, I thought it would be something like PDAnet.
Thanks for the great work, donation sent

It works for me on JM5 just had to flash the kernel
Great work! I'll have to donate after some sleep

How did you fix/work around the wake-up lag?

Gears,
I have done the SuperRooter mod, will this effect that? Can I do this right on top of that?

I did it over superrooter and no problems so far.
Thanks OP. I love that the captivate is now 100% hacked (unlock/root/wifi tether/win/win/win)
Can't wait for Froyo and the brains in this community

Ill give this a shot asap. Will let you guys know how it installs on top of ext2 lag fix.

Great work designgears! I'm hoping you can work this into the OC kernel as well.

[Q] macnut or axura?

what would you guys say on macnut or axura? within smoothness? speed? stability? and so on...
I have used macnut, and that rom is great and comes with alot of features. But currently I am using axura and I really feel it has breathed new life into my phone. Try them both, but for smoothness and stability I wud choose axura.

LOL, I can't stop laughing. If you look at the poll results, Axura's developer, aka Master, voted for "Macnut Fails." LOL, thought that was funny. Wonder if he didn't realize it was a public poll.

I think Axura fails for the tmobile themed market.

Hey Master, since you are a developer can you answer question I've asked many times but still no answer.
How does one backup their stock kernel and radio/modem.
For example if I flash your Axura ROM, and I decide I want to go completely back to stock 2.1, I can use Nandroid for my ROM right? What about backing up and restoring my stock kernel, radio/modem etc?
thanks!
Axura all the way!

Well you can always do the easiest way, and take a look at what modem & kernel you are using in the settings.. E.g, JI2 Modem = JI2 Kernel
I think TeamWhiskey has a few d/ls with Kernels && Modem packages on there site.
So if there is another way of doing it, then I don't really know.
thanks for the posts guys.. just wanted some advice on the better rom.. I AM currently using axura right now with voodoo and a 1.3ghz OC.. wanting oclf more tho.. but I guess u just gotta get lucky to use oclf on this rom because I have tried installing oclf on my rom 4 or 5 times and it bricks it everytime.. so just gotta deal with voodoo...
but I mainly wanted to kno suggestions about macnut bc iv seen alot of posts saying macnut is better but also seen the same with axura

Not really, sleep bug is still present. If you leave wimax on and turn the screen off for more then 3 minutes wimax should be disconnected (and it may or may not find another wimax signal).

Well custodian uses it and says its way better than Darky's ram tweak. So I'm hoping Custodian chimes in to let us know where to get it. Anyhow, its supposed to tweak our Ram/cpu to somehow make it quicker and more responsive. It does the same thing as Darky's ram booster tweak does, just better tweaks, I'm assuming.

What ROM/Kernel combo are you using?
Any clue if this will work with SRF 1.1.0?
Wow this thing really worked..... Im running srf 1.1.1 w/ genocide kernel 1.1 oc 1.4ghz..... gonna run some benchmarks.... be back in an edit soon....
Edit: nothing secial in benchmarks but you can deffinatly tell its working with how smooth everything is.... and the ram is at about 178mb use in the stock task manager

I realize that we have no source for the kernel on EE03, but does anyone have an idea if it contains support for init.d? Out of curiosity.
I was curious about this RAM tweak. Thanks Custodian for posting the link. EDIT..ok, I decided to go for it and this seems to really make a difference! I am running Urban Fury with Genocide 1.1, 1400/200. It made everything super smooth and things seem to open faster...just like advertised. When I get back to my PC, you have a thanks coming Custodian.
