LauncherPro Plus Now Available - Hero CDMA General

LauncherPro has released a paid version. Here is the information from its site:
http://www.launcherpro.com/?p=130
"Introducing the new LauncherPro Plus!
So last week I promised you big news coming to LauncherPro. It took a bit longer than I expected, but hopefully it was worth the wait!
One of the features I get requested the most is to support HTC Sense widgets. It seems everyone wants them. Because of the way these widgets are built into the HTC Sense launcher itself, this is simply not possible. And since not every Android user has a phone with HTC Sense, these widgets are not even available to all users.
Today I’m glad to announce a new milestone in LauncherPro’s history. Starting today, there’s a new version called LauncherPro Plus, which will contain several widgets, exclusive to LauncherPro Plus users.
Upcoming widgets include:
People Widget – To quickly access all your contacts, or just your favorites, or a particular group. (Included in this release)
Bookmarks Widget – Quick access to your browser’s bookmarks
Friends Widget – Lists your friend’s status updates from Facebook and Twitter, and lets you update your own status too.
Calendar/Agenda Widget – Shows you a calendar you can scroll through to switch months, and also lets you see your agenda for any particular day right within the widget.
Messaging – Scroll through a list of your SMS messages or one by one. Quick links to delete messages, reply, etc.
I’ll be adding these widgets over the next couple of weeks. The “People” widget is available right now to LauncherPro Plus users. There’s going to be other features in the future that will be available only to Plus users too.
Pretty cool, eh?
Now, as you can imagine, LauncherPro Plus is not free. I’ve been working full-time on LauncherPro for the past two months without making a single penny. Obviously I can’t keep devoting all my time to it without making any money, so hopefully enough of you will buy the Plus version to keep the project alive.
The early-bird price for LauncherPro Plus is only $2.99 USD, and you can buy it today through Paypal using this link. The price will most likely go up once all widgets are included, so you’ll want to get in early to enjoy the discount.
I haven’t made it available through the Android market because unfortunately I don’t live in one of the few countries that Google allows to sell paid apps from. And there’s stil a huge amount of people (including myself) who live in countries where paid apps aren’t even available to purchase. (Way to go, Google!)
Another good thing about this new Plus version is that, if sales go well enough, I’ll be able to actually hire programmers to help me develop LauncherPro even faster. So even if you don’t have a use for these widgets, you should consider buying the Plus version to support the future development of LauncherPro."

nice!!!!! definately going to buy

i dont really need any of these features, but i bought it anyway to give thanks to the developer. launcher pro is pro.

im running a sense build and have my fb contacts synced, i just clicked on all contacts and that was it.it sows all my contacts lol

I think there is some misunderstanding between Facebook contacts and Facebook info that gets LINKED into contacts you already have in your contacts list. Just to check and see, I synced Facebook contacts that were not part of my Gmail or Exchange contacts to my phone, and they do not show up with pics in the People widget. The people that I had as my gmail contacts and then LINKED to my FB account show up perfect.
Hope that helps...

[Facebook Apps] - Facebook S! VS. Facebook for Android

To start off, I'll shed light on where you can find the following applications
Facebook S! - Found in the [Samsung Apps] application off your application drawer.
Facebook for Android - Found in the [Android Market].
Well as we all know. Facebook for Android is horrible as it brings you to the mobile site everytime you hit something off the Notifications area(not integrated within the application itself). And it's slow compared to the Facebook iOS users get. And that is pretty sad. I'm not a Facebook whore so I'm not "essentially complaining" but I guess I'm speaking for the masses?
So I was browsing [Samsung Apps] for fun and I realized there's a new application released! That's right. Facebook S! It has no underbar as Notifications though it can be found under "Inbox". But, it's all integrated within the application! No more mobile-site!
While that's a step-up from the Facebook for Android application, I'm keeping both for the heck of it.
What's your view?
tl;dr - There's a new Facebook application off [Samsung Apps], try it. Compare it with the Facebook application off the [Android Market] and tell me what you think.
OMG, nice... i try samsung one and it works like a charm... my new FB app.
I just want to visit my facebook account occasionally, I don't want a facebook ' account' on my phone, why do all the apps in the market set one up and try to sync things I don't want this...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
There's also a kart racing game available.
Facebook S!
Hey guys... I saw this when I flashed to JM7 but it's not avail on JPC... any chance we might get an apk uploaded... thought I'd pushed on to the external SD, but must have pushed it to the internal... and of course to get to JPC I reformatted that one! )
Thanks in advance!
Facebook S! Wont work on FroYo, i have tested it, FC's.

That's bad news
ye I don't wanna sync anything but my mail.
the facebook samsung pushed out ain't bad.
yup there's a task manager off samsung too. lol.
I tried both and to be honest I think both suck. I just login through the mobile web. A lot faster!
I think Facebook S is totally futile piece of software. Doesn't bring anything really new and lacks essential functionalities. It's also slow, because it always seem to load stuff when one changes the tab.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i've came to a conclusion that both suck in comparison to what the apple's appstore has.
well i hope facebook steps up. >.>
shall use the Facebook for Android for now. mobile site is way faster than all that loading ****.
Facebook_s sucks even more than the regular app.loading times are horrific.Plus it also looks a lot less crisp then the regular app.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Doesn't have a widget either. While it's not amazingly functional I am a fan of having the normal facebook widget on my homescreen.
isn't the feeds widget the facebook widget for samsung?!
Facebook S is crap. It is extremely limited. All you can do is browse your wall and other people's walls. Things like Facebook Events and contact lists that are in the official app, are all missing.
I don't know why people have problems with the official Facebook app, I find it works awesome. Its basically identical to the iPhone one now.

This is not true in Facebook S you can upload Video easily.. and you can view them very fast..the normal facebook app will not upload video's and its hard to view videos.. in the Facebook S you have a tab just for videos
Ditto with what one of the previous posters said...I stick with the mobile website.
The Android Facebook app doesn't look that good IMHO. The Samsung one is REALLY buggy and clunky. Searching for friends doesn't turn up results unless they are all shown in the list below...so you have to manually click show more or whatever to get all your friends to show, and then you can search for them. That's a bit inconvenient and senseless if you ask me. Also the inbox is messed up.
Both apps load really slow. The mobile website is still what I rely on. I just bookmark it to make it easier to get to.
Hi to all,
unfortunately i delete the facebook s app from my galaxy i9000 and now i can not find it anymore.
I also went in to samsung app, but......where it is?
Could you please post it here (or let me know where I can find it)?
I also didn't find it with samsung kies.
Best regards
I just stick with touch.facebook.com on my browser, find it much better than any of the apps.
When I first got my phone i used the facbook S and i thought there was something wrong with my phone as it took ages to upload and was generally slow in all area's.
Then tried official app and found it a world of difference - ok the mobile site is still quicker but for most thing the app is ok.

Froyo here(ish).. Facebook pls

So Froyo is upon us but what I want is for the Android Facebook app to get updated so it is a proper app, not just redirecting you to mobile Facebook online whenever you view notifications etc. Then I will not need to worry that I should have bought an iPhone 4 with brilliant facebook app.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Have you tried the facebook app in the market?
You can put a Widget for the status updates, when you click on it, it will open the facebook app where you can do pretty much anything, from taking picture to checking video. What more do you want? (From 2.1 but froyo has the same app)
Its sad that the android versions of Facebook and Yahoo Messenger stink compared to the iphone versions where they are full featured and work like magic.
I really wish they would stop ignoring it and focus on the android versions.
Even the blackberry versions work better!
Well, since you are presumably Samsung Galaxy S user, why not trying Facebook S! from the Samsung appstore? I have been using it for 2 months or so and I consider it much better than the built-in Android application...And no - it does not redirect you to the browser.
It doesnt even have the "Like" button and is pretty bare bones. I would like it if they updated it with all of the facebook shenanigans

That is tha App I am talking about. Many of the links just redirect you to the mobile or touch facebook website in the phones browser. e.g. in the (Facebook) notifications. Other times you get directed to the full Facebook website e.g. when viewing profiles or photo galleries.
It really is only "half an app". I actually don't bother with it and just have a bookmark to the touch facebook website.
I find the Samsung Facebook App very slow and quite limited in functionality.
iPhon/iPod touch Facebook is pretty much perfect and complete. I'm sure the Android app will eventually be as good.

Facebook

#1 Any news on honeycomb version?
#2 anyone else having trouble getting it to sync? It wont even let me add the facebook account on the accounts page.
Facebook no longer syncs with Android. That's for Gingerbread, but I'll bet they implemented it in Honeycomb, too.
And as for a version for HC, I doubt they'll have one cooked up before spring considering how slow they are with the regular Android version.
You didn't block apps from your Facebook did you? I had a problem recently where I could set up the normal Facebook app, on my EVO, but facebook for sense kept failing. Turns out when I went nuts removing annoying apps and trying to lock down my facebooks security, I blocked future unofficial apps.
I can confirm the facebook contacts don't sync on honeycomb. Although Twitter contacts still do. Must be software thing and less a google thing. When you try to add the account to accounts & sync it just flashes and drops you back to accounts.
It actually has more to do with Google's rules for Android. Here's a better explanation of it.
Engadget
It's something Facebook will have to deal with if they ever want the feature to return.
Do they even have a iPad version of Facebook out?
Well Facebook is not happy with Google stop the sync.
Probably FB will demand it back before making the Android tablet version
One thing that I want for FB is MULTI USER client app!!!!!
Which I can choose account to use

Friend Me works really well, it's made specifically for Honeycomb, and it's FREE. The ads are well done so it's not intrusive and for $3 using in app billing u can unlock the ad free version.
The only downside is as of yet they don't have any widgets

Better than creating a new thread to discuss a topic that has already been introduced, don't you think?

Facebook stole the contact list from my phone

ALL THE PHONE NUMBERS of your contacts are now on Facebook! Go to the top right of the screen, click on ACCOUNT, click on EDIT FRIENDS, left side of screen and click CONTACTS. You will see all phone numbers that you have stored in your cell phone (FB friends or not) are published. TO REMOVE go to the right column, click on "this page." Pls repost so your friends can remove their numbers & prevent abuse if they don't want it public.
Didnt expect all the numbers of my family members to be posted on my page. Erased facebook from my phone, never installing again.

yea, I saw someone post this on facebook earlier today. I thought it was just one of those dumb resposts (send this to 30 people or your account will be deleted! lol). I checked, and sure enough, ALL of my contacts phone numbers are now on my facebook. I don't remember reading anywhere that facebook was doing this, nor did I agree to any terms to let facebook take all of my numbers.
People still don't believe?

hrm, only the contacts that have synced from facebook are listed on my account. None of my non-facebook contacts are listed at all.
It says,
"Facebook Phonebook displays contacts you have imported from your phone, as well as your Facebook friends".
It seems as if you would have to manually import them for that to happen, weird.

You're right about the Shady part man, this is non-sense and we should all sue Zuckerberg for being a douche! They have no ****en right in taking our private contacts. Someone asked earlier if they signed in using gmail, I don't I use a Yahoo account and I just checked all my contacts were on stupid facebook.
Facebook is a freaking joke. Almost everything they do now is anti-privacy, and anti-transparent.
They don't realize that most everything they implement and do should be a CHOICE and not forced upon the users.
I sincerely hope Google+ continues taking off and demolishes FB one day.

For those who have it...can we discuss the horrid new messenger app

its horrible, you can't send higher res pics, you can even take a picture within the app without horrible quality
between Google messenger, and WhatsApp, i got everything I need.
I've never bothered with MMS, they have always been a pain to use, and compatibility across cell phone carriers it's abysmal.
I you are from Company A, you send MMS to friend on another phone Company B, chances are they will not get the picture.
that happened so often, that made MMS obsolete, specially with the intro of Skype, WhatsApp, WeChat, QQ, ICQ, Hangout,etc...
Toss out all HTC stock apps is my suggestion. Get Google dialer. Get Google messenger or Facebook messenger if you want chatheads. Get Google calendar. Get Google clock.
