so how to assign button to accept call?
the way power button ignores the call..how do u answer a call with a hardware button?

I hate that "unlock" thing whenever i got income calls.
i missed like 10 calls thanks to it.

shutting off the ring

greetings everyone, I am quite new to the Herald. So please execuse me for asking stupid questions. When a call comes in, is there a button or shortcut option to use to shut off the ring without using the ring control slide/button on the side? I used to have a different pda which offered three choices when a call came; answer - ignore - shut off the ring... anyone, anyone? thanks...

there is still teh ignore button. not enough?
As papamopps says, you still got the red ignore button Then you can answer with the green, ignore with the red and just mute the ringtone with the slidebutton on the side
the ring
thanks friends, i thought the "ignore" option would send a busy signal to the user, thats how it was on my previous mobile. So I was kinda scared off by using that option. Sometimes, pretending that you didn't hear the call is better than sending a busy tone )) easier to deny the ignorance later on )
the ring
i meant to say "sends a busy signal to the caller" not "to the user". sorry...

by pressing the "commanager" button for more than 3sec it will go into vibrate modus. then the ringer is shut off. and it is only vibrating. it is faster then the volume slider

poppamops thanx for the help... since you are good at answering, here is another one... can you suggest a nice GPS map for Turkey?

Just to be certain: If you push the red/ignore button the person who calls you will notice that you did so. If you slide the button on the side downward the person just think you were unable to answer (it just keep ringing)

As elsatani said all you have to do is slide down the volume slider on the side of the phone... am I missing something here. The only phone I knew where you couldn't turn off the ringer was the Excalibur when it first came out. Due to the touch slider you couldn't silent the ringer. main thing that pissed me off when that phone was initially released.

Have to ignore calls multiple times

When a call comes in that I don't want to answer and I slide the red slider to ignore, the call starts ringing again within 5 seconds. I have to ignore each call 2-3 times before it actually routes to voicemail.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Instead of ignoring just silence the call with the volume button

It might be a minor phone glitch, try a factory reset. backup your stuff first.
Yeah and i was wondering what the double tap to silence was about in the sounds and display settings.

[Q] Lock after call

Anyone managed to undo the annoying lock after call syndrome, or at least delay it a bit? Dreadful if you have to make two calls.
yeah is annoying wish we could disable it
Yeah. Especially while downloading or uploading. Any idea to disable it?

There is a free app called screen on lets you set what apps you want the screen to stay on when your running them

There's a program in the market call Not Call Log, and it makes it so it doesn't go to the call log after calls for other Android phones. You can set it to go to the Homescreen after a call so it works decent on the X10 as well. It's freeware for outgoing calls or a dollar for incoming calls (but I may have that reversed).
It doesn't work flawlessly but it works most of the time, I'd say 8/10 times personally. Considering how amazingly annoying it is for the phone to lock after a call, it was worth paying a dollar.
Guys try "nolock" in the market...it has worked perfectly for me on the X10

When u lock the screen any button opens it, but still it's good
Thanks

I'd which my phone would really lock during a phone call!! Every time i finish a call my phone starts dialing another number because my phone didn't lock and my cheek pressed a number to call.
Anyone have the same problem or have a solution?
IMHO No lock is No Good. Ok it does not lock after call but any button wake up means the phone is on all the time in my pocket...............................
Ill try one of the others.....................
This (screen lock after calls) and the low incall volume are the biggest pain in the butt of the X10 for me. Oh and the no bluetooth phonebook transfer; oh and the no handsfree voice dial over bluetooth.
Hopefully 2.1 will resolve all.

I still use the Not Call Log program but also No Lock. While at work I keep it unlocked as well as while I'm at home, but if I'm out and about I enable the lock. Sometimes my phone turns on when it's in my purse, I mean man purse, I mean shoulder bag, I mean satchel.
(srs lol)
Its ok, Indiana Jones had a satchel...he was cool.
Re tried no lock last week.
Sent a gobbldygook text to a friend in Scotland and a voiceless transatlantic call for 1 minute and the battery took a bigger hit than ususal.
No lock is, therefore no more......................
But I still have this (expletive deleted) auto lock after the first call, which drives me insane - insane I tell you! insane!
I do hope that the maestros at SE have done away with this infuiatingly peurile piece of code in the 2.1 update.........................

Google Voice phone ring delay

I'm using GV as voicemail, and the phone only starts ringing after 5-10s (the caller already hears rings and sometimes even hangs up). Is there a fix for this?
You know there's a delay even when you call normally right?

Same, this is annoying, and my ringtones are now significantly shorter because of it.....
I have my Google voice ring my work Cell as well as my sprint phone, And for some reason my work phone rings a full ring before my Sprint phone rings. Wish there wasn't a lag or way to extend the rings.
Also does anyone know how to shut off that stupid press 1 to accept call.. i hate it, today I pressed 1 And then was told the caller hung up( cause phone rang to many times) And to press 2 to call back..

Are you sure? I'm looking at it right now, but to be honest I haven't integrated it with Sprint.
Google.com/voice>sign in>click on your phone number in the top right>click on the calls tab>the very first box is call screening>turn off.
If you turn this off, it will not announce the caller to you and make you press one. However, you won't know if this is someone calling your google voice #, or possibly your work cell # (as is my case).

GV and your desk phone are both land lines so the connection is instant. There is always a delay to cell lines regardless if you use GV. There is no way to get rid of the delay; this is completely normal.
To get rid of the press 1 to accept, go into GV -> Settings -> Calls and turn Call Screening to Off.
The funny thing is that I have a Droid X (Verizon) linked to my GV and it always rings before the Evo. I'm now thinking of switching to Verizon so I don't have such a long delay / lose calls.

The stock settings tell the phones radio to check with the tower every so many seconds. I don't remember what the default is so for sake of the explanation lets say 8 seconds. Your phone just checked the tower and nothing was coming in. Then someone begins calling you. Depending where in the countdown you are at your phone wont check with the tower for another 8 seconds or less. The person calling you will hear the phone ringing even though you have yet to receive an incoming call.
Changing the settings shortens the time between checking with the tower and thus reducing the time your phone will start ringing.

You can not do this with any AOSP or 2.3 sense roms.
Nandroid, then flash to a 2.1 / 2.2 rom, make the changes then nandroid back.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Unable to answer phone calls

Using stock dialer, on Oreo. (Had the same problem on Nougat.)
When a call comes in, it does not allow me to answer the call. If I drag up on the ball for "answer", it simply bounces back. It won't "answer".
However, this only happens when the phone is "cold". After answering a call the phone answers normally for future calls
Any ideas?
This doesn't seem to be a dead spot in the touch screen, as I can suspend the ball at the apex for an indefinite time.
The problem seems to be that it doesn't trigger the "call answer". It isn't accepting it as an input.
This is repeatable, but once it has "answered" a call, it will generally answer the next few calls accurately.
I have the same thing on Nougat and Oreo too can be pretty annoying at times

I am on T-Mobile and have not seen this happen. Any of you using WiFi Calling, if not try and see if it makes a difference.
Don't swipe up from the icon.
Swipe up from higher up, near the contact picture.
Just like the rest of the google apps, google doesn't use a proper viewport and the coordinates are messed up the essential phone.

This is my second headset and the first one was without this issue. If you have any one with another carrier, try their sim card. This is what I have done with another phone brand when there was an unrelated to your issue.

anyone got a fix or workaround ??
This happens to me too. Does the same thing to ignore. I also have problems where I can't hear the person for a good 30 seconds, even though it gives me the ringtone when the call is placed. Sprint says it's not on their end... I've pretty much decided to sell this.
Before this I had Moto G5 Plus which was highly rated as the best budget and it had a ton of issues too. I may buy an iPhone for the first time. I'm just tired of always having an issue with something on an Android device. I just want a product that works 100% of the time.

If you start in the middle of the screen and swipe UP in short strokes, doe this resolve your issue.
I've seen this come up a few times on here and the subreddit and haven't had an issue answering or declining calls :S
