Used to use cooked rom, phone function sudden failed. - Touch GSM General

I used to use cooked rom, tried 6.1, 6.5 and 6.5.x.
Failed to search for phone signal today, confirmed not SIM card problem.
Will cooked rom damage hardware? Thanks!

I don't think so , Hard-reset your phone with your Sim-card inside it and it will work again

If the problem still persist, try to install radio from this link :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440503
If that does not solve the problem, I think the only way is to install a shipped ROM that suits with your phone's specification (ELF or ELFIN, Model ID and etc).
But don't forget to return your SPL and IPL to origina ones when you will load a shipped ROM. You can find them on XDA Wiki.
Hope your Elf (Elfin?) will be Ok!

How can I know my original IPL? SPL?

if you didn't run the dsixda script before hand that grabs all your information, and have sinced changed your IPL/SPL then I'm not sure.
However, If you know your phone model number (T-MOB0005 etc.) You may be able to guesstimate to what they were based on that - Personally, I think that could be a bit risky, but it was worth the suggestion.
Do you remember if you have changed the IPL and SPL? You could always run the dsixda script now to see what you have. It should be in the ROM section
Sorry I can't be more help, but I can only make a suggestion as to how, as I have always took a note of them before starting anything.
At the same time - I also have an elf that is unable to connect to a network, I have tried radio upgrades etc and custom roms, so if you do fix it, I know that I would appreciate the outcome, as would many others who have posted the same issue - In the mean time I am continuing my hunt for a fix for it

If you haven't changed them, then you could well still be able to use your shipped rom.
but if you don't know what they were, and have changed them, then yes, custom roms is the only way for you, from what I understand.

I did pull it from the Artemis and I'm redoing it now. You're right it don't work but it doesn't brick. I looked at the size and the Hex Dump of both and they are similar. The Artemis ROM even had the G3 and G4 IPL and SPL when I decoded the ROM. I had so much hope but no go.
I was considering the Excalibur ROM as well but its bigger than the Prophet/Wizard radio ROMs. I'm more apt Prophet/Wizard Radios are usually around 2.5MB. The Excalibur ROM is 2.8MB. Not sure the the dedicated Radio space on the Prophet but the difference is just enough to brick.
I've already decoded it. If some one wants to try the Excalibur I'll post it.
i dun mind trying excalibur as well.. but redo the artemis 1st. i'll try again once u finish.. if u look at the post in artemis forum it says 2.67 got good battery life.. dat i want!! lol..
Confirming the radio rom does not work as well on my S200
I've created a G3 version for my S200 but it's not working, doesn't find the provider any longer, I'll play around some more, but a no go so far.

OK everyone, this one is built from the Excalibur ROM. For all the brave souls:

Radio rom upgrade problem!
I upgraded my s200 RadioROM to 2.63.90. Now my Phone lost Radio Rom and lost the GSM signal. The phone become very slow and con't activesync to the pc. I have try but can't upgrade any other rom now! Can someone help me?
I had the same problem! After radio update, Prophet does not connect to the PC anymore. I,ve managed the problem with the following steps, take them exactly:
1. Download the linked file and extract it in a known place: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Wizard/2_47_11_radio.rar
2. Disconnect Prophet from the USB cable;
3. Enter in the boot loader mode (press power button + camera button in the same time and hit reset);
4. Connect the cable and in the left down corner the USB name will apear;
5. Go to the directory that you extracted from the downloaded file and start ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe (is in itallian, but there are the usual steps for upgrading ROM, so I think you'll manage).
After this, hopefully the upgrade Radio ROM process will start!
I'll repet myself, follow exactly this steps with attached file, this was my way and the only that worked for me!
P.S. Someone should delete the 2.63.90 Radio ROM file from th Prophet FTP, is dangerous and brakes your Prophet!
Thanks very much! My Phone has come back!

Hi, I'm going to be getting a SIM unlocked t-mobile MDA soon, and was wondering if I should put a custom ROM on it. I understand I have to CID unlock it first. I'm new the custom ROM thing, but I've been intalling custom homebrew firmwares on my psp all the time, so I know about the risks. People have told me that I shouldn't do it because the mda is desgined for windows mobile 5, and should be left at that, and custom ROMs are very buggy, and freeze a lot. Is this true? and can someone help me to CID unlock my MDA. Also, how can I tell if its a G3 or G4? and what's the difference between them? and there are so many custom ROMS out there, which one is the best? I heard it was the core 2 by xplore, but im not sure. What do you think? Please answer with something! I'm very frustrated right now, THNAKS!!!
In the section called wizard upgrading is a sticky by Dr. P...in it it explains how to unlock your device. Read it, then read it again, follow the directions explicitly.
As for rom...I have a Tmo MDA running a WM6 custon rom...Jaguar 3.1
Each rom is different, it depends on what you want in a rom. If you want bells and whistles go with a TNT rom. If you want a zero calorie rom go with a Core rom and customize as you need by installing 3rd party apps. If you want something in between, go with Jaguar or a Faria...there are so many amazing chef's at work here at xda, that in truth, you just gotta try each kitchen out until you find the one that meets your tastes. Be warned...you may turn into a flashing junkie and need to join the xda 12-step program!!!
Ok, thanks. You've helped me a lot. I think ill go with the faria or jaguar, I like the sound of them, but ill look up more info on them first. Thanks again.

It all depends on your taste...i always like to cook my own ROM...pick the one you like, dump and add packages you like and enjoy...but READ (I mean READ...) wiki and stickies before you flash...dont just flash anything and brick your device...
PS: Stick with OS version ending .318 for better wifi connections
Ok, thanks. I should be getting my MDA tomorrow (thursday) so Ill probably start installing custom ROM's on friday, because I want to get to know the MDA a little bit before I install customs ROM's. Also, how can I check if it's a G3 or G4? I know it has something to do with the numbers that show up when the device is turned on, but I'm not sure, can anyone help? Also, hat do u mean "add packages" can I customize my custom ROM however I want? I can add whatever apps I want on the ROM? Also, are all custom ROM's windows mobile 6? are there such things as windows mobile 5 custom ROM's? its not that I want it, just curious. Is there a such thing as jaguar.318? (you said .318 has better wifi)

All you need is in here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Wizard. Jaguar is .318 OS, if you flash that you should be good to go...read wiki before you do anything with your MDA. Good luck.

Hmmm, Take my advise,as you are getting a new device,it wud probably will be with wm5 T-Mobile Rom.why don't you just use it for sometimes, enjoy the new device, get to know all the features and applications and really get to know your device and when you are fully comfortable then go for an upgrade to wm6 version Rom. In the meanwhile, READ 'n' READ all about CID unlocking and upgrading,so that when you are actually going to do it,you have the whole procedure done successfully and effortless
Secondly, it's very very important to know the correct DOC chip version on your device ( G3 or G4) cuz both the devices have all together different method for upgrading,if you do a G3 method to unlock or upgrade to a G4 device,it'll "Brick" the phone,so first determine the version of the device. Download the WST Tool and install, run it and check the report it generates to verify the DOC chip version, whether it's a G3 or G4 device.
Good luck
Yeah, your right, I got my MDA yesterday, and I'm pretty happy with wm5 right now. Ill put a custom ROM on later, no point in risking a birck already, but I still want to CID unlock it now, so I don't have to do it later. Thanks for your advice. I found a lot of things to on the net make a wm5 look like wm6, i got a theme, and media player skin. Do you know any other ways I can make my wm5 look like wm6? Icons? buttons? sounds? is there anything like this on this website? i'm going to check anyways.
Search in the xda wizard forums. A while back someone posted WM^ themes, ringtones, icons etc...if it isn't in the wizard section, then I saw it in the general topics section. Sorry I cannot remember which, but I DO remember seeing it posted here at xda, so just search WM6 themes.

To verify the CID lock/unlock status, download the WST tool and run, check the button "CID Action" written on it,this will give the report to verify if you device is CID locked or unlocked.
Secondly, don't use Win Vista as it has many problems yet.Flashing is always easy and recommended with WinXP SP2,ok
Cheers

ok thanks for all ur help. I go to the library to out a ROM on it, they have xp there. What is you ROM dferreira? can you tell me more about it? is it wm6,? is it the one in your signature? Another thing is can I use shelltool to put a custom ROM on my mda? does it work with every ROM? if it does, why doesn't everyone use it? what's the use of CID-unlocking it when shelltool is easier and faster? is there a catch?

My ROM is WM5, based on the old AKU 2.3 (rev 4 is, rev 5 which is gonna be released soon will be the latest WM5 OS build). You should not use shelltools to change to my ROM, since I've got some fixes/updates done by extendedRom, which shelltools doesn't update! Also, WM5SE is G3/G4 safe, so you can use SoftSPL or HardSPL to flash it so its safe for every Wizard PDA. Why doesn't everyone use it? Its the freedom of choise, everyone is free to use whatever ROM satisfy his/her needs. ShellTools takes about 30 minutes to flash. A CID Unlocked device can be flashed using the official RUU upgrading program, that takes about 6 minutes... also its safer.
Just make sure you have read all the stickies on WIzard Upgrading forums, before ever flashing!
You said you took out windows live, where can I download it if I want to put it back on?
IMPORTANT!!!
one last question, do I need to downgrade my SPL to CID unlock my phone? I have a G3 T-mobile MDA runnig the latest t-mobile 2.26 ROM. How can I downgrade to CID unlock my phone? LET ME KNOW ASAP, I'm in a rush....thanks!
YES !
CID unlocking is only possible through 'lokiwiz02b' Tool and it only works in IPL/SPL 1.xx,so to unlock you'll have to downgrade to IPL/SPL 1.xx.To CID unlock read this Sticky :-

hi i was trying to flash my friends htc 8125 with the tutorial on this web and now i just have 3 color display or boot mode i think. im new this was my first time i flashet first with buton ... flash but not work error 302 but after i flash with alternative flash was in the tutorial and i get an error to so i dont know what to do how to repair
HTC CINGULAR 8125
IPL 1.05
SPL 1.05
I'm kinda of new too, but I believe you just have to pick the rom u want to flash up to. U r at the ideal ipl & spl. I just did that to mine about a week ago and then flashed it EXACTLY like forum said and then just update to 3.XXIPL & 3.XXSPl. After which I picked 1 of the TNT rOMs and wella! try to flash it up now
i dont know wheres to find the roms do you have a link or something
Have you CID unlocked yet?
Obviously not unlocked yet!
Cause he stucks on step 1 !
hahahaha upgrade an original rom... try the 2.26 tmobile not 3.08 please...
Hey Que
I will be getting T-Mobile any hour today...
I will be following all the instructions and try to use a Cingular card on it.
I'm trying to decide what to use for updating the rom on this 8125 the ipl reads 2.25 the spl reads 2.25. in the tutorial there isnt any mention of these that I can ascertain. the other numbers are os 2.25.11.1 gsm 02.25.11
Is this even a necessity. The unit shuts down and is very difficult to get restarted, seems to be a good unit, just looking to make it more reliable. Thanks in advance for the help.

Your phone is running the official cingular stock rom and has official IPL/SPL 2.25 (Bootloaders),its nothing to be worried about, now it depends if you prefer to reflash the official wm5 rom or wud like to upgrade to latest wm6.1 custom build roms.
If you want to keep official then download the official wm5 stock rom and simply flash it,but if you desire to upgrade to latest wm6.1 rom,as no official wm6 roms are provided, therefore, you'll have to flash a custom build wm6.1 rom,and for that you'll have to get your phone CID unlocked.
my phone is in boot mode i dont have the roms im new wheres can i find the rom that you say the tmobile my phone was with the original cingular rom or where can i find the original one
mmmmm ok!
I dont have the link but you an enter in wiki section for wizard... is a thread that said wizard goes wiki click there and then it tooks you to the wiki pages! there... you can found a link that takes you to the original roms... choose the one you see for cingular..... some links are broken so dont desperate maybe we can found other one... if you dont get it there you can choose the search tool just follow my steps on my signature says The XDA search culture...
Dont be afraid men you only need to use some more things to start unbricking your phone... (I hope so) many things tooks time cause we dont read enough now lets work men!!!
Well avoiding duplicatted posts this is gonna change many times
Here is my RUU without ID http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=429327&page=9
I didnt found the cingular but try to unzip the exe file with winrar... the nk.nbf can be cutted and pasted in the RUU folder to upgrade it without ID vendor permissions... we will on touch men!
Xplain more
Xplain more of your problem remember that unlock upgrade flashing dids most be done on XP and without SIM and MiniSD pluged... be sure your batt is full charged and your USB cable dont have troubles.
Can you privide more info abour exactly what you have done... please men we need all you got
OH remember not to use so much your phone on Bootloader screen cause we need the batt almost 70% to downgrade unlock and upgrade again it dont charge in RGB screen.
About getting official Wizard Cingular ROMs.
I called HTC and Cingular they say that HTC is not licensing the Wizard WM6 from Microsoft anymore, so they are not supplying the ROMs for the public.
No official support from Cingular/HTC on Wizard for WM6 or 5 for that matter.
I'm new to pdas I've only ever had cell phones so with that in mind its confusing as to where to start. I'm electronic savvy when it comes to car repair, however some of this is daunting at best. I'd like to take this semi-bricked wizard to the next level.
Everytime I find what I'm looking for the webpage is obsolete, what to do?

First, always post the DOC Chip version of the phone, what is the IPL/SPL of the phone.
Secondly, what exactly is the problem and what you want to do ?
the ipl/spl are at 2.25 and the specific problem is that wen in hibernate mode the only way to work with it is to remove the battery to restore functionality, then that resets the factory settings of time and date and also drops calls etc.

G3 devices don't get Bricked like this,by just flashing a rom, untill and unless you have flashed any G4 IPL/SPL on it,otherwise,G3 phones never get Bricked. So most probably its the battery, try to get the battery charged or get another battery from a friend and confirm it.
As an update and thank you very much. I purchased a new battery and the the store was good enough to pre charge it. We installed the above official wm5 file and its currently going throuh re updating itself. I did happen to notice that it now has an AKU2 file. Is this an update over and above what I had originally?
Once again thanks....
Are there any problems with 3G sim cards because when I installed the card the phone reacts as if there is no battery. No charge indicator or any activity.
Problem solved, it helps to have the sim card properly seated.......
Thanz!
You are most welcome, glade its working.
Yes,the above rom is AKU 2,its an upgrade to your previous official Rom,always try to keep the battery fully charged,as it creates many problems if it gets below the required retention charge of 30%.
Try out the Guide I posted above and see if you can get it CID unlocked and upgraded to latest wm6.1 rom, thats where the fun begins....!

HELP - Vodafone UK user, ROM issues? *noob*

I recently bought my HTC HD2 from Vodafone UK, it has a ROM 1.43.405.1 and I cannot update the ROM from HTC website because after insert my SN in the validation box it tells me I cannot get the update....
What should I do?
I saw many ROMs on 4shared but I think they not the same in the HTC site...If they are which one of the should I get for my HTC and why? Will I be able to use my phone with my UK Sim?
Help please...
Windows on your ROM is licensed software, and you bought the license implicitly with your Leo, therefore is it "not possible" to just change ROM.
Having said that , google the forum a bit for SSPL and/or HSPL. there are several (graphical) guides that will tell you how to use them (sticky threads).
good luck!
anyone? someone? help me!

I thought that too but on 4shared they do not describe the features.
Any idea where can I see the features?
To put on other non mobile brand ROM, I must unlock the mobile first, right?
If that is the case, how do I unlock it?
If I put one ROM in the mobile and them upload another one will it delete the features from the one that was on the phone previously?
flashing roms is not connected to thee phone being network locked. it will still be locked after you flash it.
look for a world wide english rom version 1.66 (with 1.66 and wwe I'm the name)

No, doing a hard reset will only ever restore it to the rom you last flashed.
To get back to 'as you bought it' you need to find the rom that matches your device.
(for example in your case, voda UK, you find this rom
RUU_Leo_Vodafone_UK_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26. 50.07U_2.04.50.22_2_Ship.exe
)
If you then need to get back to stock, and remove HSPL, you can do it with that rom. (not quite as simple as just flashing it, , see the HSPL thread for how to remove HSPL)

OH OK....i will have a look at the kitchen then....
Like I mentioned I am a noob lol....I got here just by trying to understand why couldnt I update my ROM.
One more question, each ROM completely cleans the before it, right? The features do not stuck up (add on)?
I would advise AGAINST blindly leeching any ROM from any online file sharer.
check this forum, read a bit, and select a ROM from a chef that has cooked something you like (speed, looks like stock, removed HTC, removed bloatware, etc etc). I've tried many, and almost all on this forum are excellent (some are more excellent than others though)..
Flashing a ROM completely cleans ALL settings on your phone, all data is gone, besides whatever is on your SD card.
same if you select Settings/Wipe Device option from the start menu.

Be aware that whilst flashing wipes all your old data/settings and such like, it doesn't necessarily wipe the old rom before flashing the new one, just flashes over it.
Roms can be different file sizes, (just compare a few RUU_Signed.nbh file sizes) so sometimes files can be left over from the previous rom. If you start getting random resets and freezes when you didnt before, it could be a sign of a bloated rom. Have a read of the mtty sticky. It looks a little overwhelming at first read, but dead simple really, and basically formats your rom before you flash the new rom.
my 2 pence here...
get the official WWE 1.66 ROM and see if that helps the phone, the 1.43 VF ROM is crap and both 1.48 and 1.66 are miles better so first thing is to give these a go. If, after successfully installing it, you wanna try something else then do so...
and read the n00b thread at the top of this forum...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
it tells you what to do, with videos if needed...
Hi, I have the same vf handset and was sick of the crappy ROM, I upgraded yesterday after weeks of research and was surprised how easy it was.
However, having had a day to test out my new 1.66 ROM, I have unfortunately found some problems and part of me think maybe I should have waited a little longer for vf to release it officially.
I'm hoping you guys will be able to help again as it may just need different tweaks to the settings...
1. The first problem is that Opera is slightly different, the settings tab has changed, it no longer allows zooming (including pinch zooming) and the pages are not displayed as full width. I have played with all the setting I can in Opera and BsB Tweaks but no joy.
2. I can no longer access TV catchup through Skyfire. The advertisement plays as normal and then it says "non-UK, unauthorised". Is this because it is a WWE ROM and not a UK one? Why isn't there a specific UK ROM like there was for 1.48?
3. Although the alarm volume bug seems to have been fixed, the alarm popup doesn't come up any more when it goes off, making it very difficult to "snooze" or "dismiss".
4. Several error messages have come up relating to the actual phone app, messaging app and audiomanager. The phone has also crashed and gone slow a bit and overall the messaging app is a little more buggy despite it appearing to send all messages.
Any advice would be much appreciated as this does seem as though it could be a much better ROM with some great benefits.
1.48 was also a WWE ROM - there hasn't been a set UK one other than ISP-based ones

Fair enough. I was just going by what it was implying on the HTC support page. 1.48 specifically says UK whereas 1.66 simply says WWE and makes no mention of UK.
Does anyone have any advice on the issues I'm having?
Also, if I wanted to revert back to the vf 1.43 ROM using the SD card to remove HSPL, how do I know the file I've downloaded from the shared folders is exactly the same as I had before? I read that it is more risky flashing without HSPL as you have less chance of fixing it if something goes wrong, does this also go for the method of reverting back using the SD card as it is removing the HSPL?

Sim card (Smartchip) isn't detected when upgraded i-mate Jasjar to WM6

Hello mates,
I updated my i-mate Jasjar to WM6.1 ROM by Ranju and a few others. The update is successful and everything works fine but my cellular connection just doesn't work. My sim card (smartchip) is not detected. Ranju's ROM doesn't let me open the communication manager. Another ROM stays forever on flight mode and I can't even change it.
I live in India just for the record if the Smartchips in India might make a difference. I'm totally clueless on what to do.
Couldn't find any post relevant to this.
Please help.
Thanks and regards,
Aditya More.
my bet would be a radio rom incompatibility, but im not sure.
what radio are you using? it seems that higher wm6 builds require certain radios or something.
no clue what a radio is..
Radio rom. It's part of uni software that is responsible for gsm module (and everything related). You can flash your radio rom the same way you flash any rom. Just use flashing software (ROMUpgradeUT). Though you will need radio_.nbf instead of nk.nbf when flashing radio.
Thanks a ton for that information. I'm pretty new with this.
So well, which radio should I use for my i-mate jasjar? Where can I download it?
Is there like a setup file for radio flashing? Using ROMUpgradeUT would be a little difficult for me. Do I have to flash this file in bootloader mode?
Thanks,
Aditya More.
Download radio here: ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Universal/Radio/
Personally I would recommend 1.18.00. I'm using this one currently, and is working just fine. Though, you can just experiment a little with different radio roms, and find which one is working best with your device.
Actually ROMUpgradeUT IS something like a setup to flash your device, and there is no easier way to flash device. Only thing you need is to place ROMUpgradeUT somewhere along with radio_.nbf and run ROMUpgradeUT.
Anyway just read this: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Uni_ROM_Upgrade ,and there should not be any problems for you (at least with flashing).
Also, make sure to spend some time reading universal wiki, if you are new for Windows Mobile and uni.
It's working guys.
@cheapusenet: if it weren't for you, I'd have been still stuck with the bootloader screen. Thanks a ton. I really really appreciate your help man. Really. Thanks for the radio info too.
@Kalgon5: The radio info was very useful. wiki Universal is my homepage. I go through it every single day. But just didn't any clue about radio and flashing. Pretty new. Anyway, thanks a lot. Really appreciate your help.
@Luca: the ROM rules. Very fast, awesome applications, good battery life. Thanks.
