Multiple home screen images - Desire Themes and Apps

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if any one knows if there is any way of getting multiple images onto my home screens so when I swipe over to each screen I get a completely different image rather than just panning across a large image.
I only ask as I would like to theme each screen to go with the types of apps and widgets I have on each one. For example I have pages split up into; media, travel, sports, and tools so would like an image in the back to represent each type.
If anyone who's of an app or ROM that I could use to do this that would be great.
Thank you,
Keiran

yes you can, usig photoshop get 7 pictures of 480x800 and put the one beside the other and there you go.

That doesn't work becouse you don't move the full 1/3 of a screen when you go to the side. You would have to have it as a setting in the Home Screen.
I have not seen that option in any launcher that I have tried. But it would be a cool feature to add to something like the Helix

Help on background please?

I just got my tmobile tp2 with the official 6.5 rom installed. First of all I am a noob so I'd prefer to ask than destroy my phone. I didnt like the original tmobile background so i changed it to a picture from my memory card. The question i'd like to ask is how come on the background already on the phone, when you have it in portraint you can see it fully, and when you have it landscape you can see if fully, but when i set one of my pictures to use as the background, i can see it fully in protrait but when in landscape, it doesnt expand to the entire screen but would rather show up as tiles. How do i make it to where it expands like the one they have preinstalled on the phone? where do i go to pic the picture for the landscape mode? thanks in advance

That's about as far as you'll get with the built-in wallpaper changer in WM, it doesn't really give you a lot of options.
However, XDA has it's usual magic bag of tricks to pull out here, and the one you need in this case is called HDWalls, give it a look. Basically, it will let you create wallpapers that are cropped the way you want in landscape mode, as well as ones that will appear on ALL tabs (not just home), and it can even skin the taskbar at the top and the softkey-bar at the bottom, to match your chosen wallpaper. You can also select separate wallpapers for portrait and landscape modes.
It's a lot of fun once you use it once and get used to it, it's not nearly as complicated as it might look. If you have any problems, PM me and I'll help get you pointed in the right direction.
alright! ill give it a try and see how it goes! thanks so much!

Picture resize...

hi guys, when i goto crop my pics, they crop fine, but im left with a tiny picture..
how do i resize the pic to full screen...
this is one of the biggest problems about the x10,i have loads of pictures but most come out all small or fuzzy using the crop, why se didnt just allow full screen wallpaper is beyond me,however there are a few apps in the store that allows full screen wallpapers however must force close a lot and piece of advice dont use justpics it freezes the phone completely i learned it the hard way,if you find a better way to use full pics as wallpaper please let me know thanks
Bloody JOKING...
Yeah it seems there's some seriously dumbass software issues with the wallpaper option on the X10.
It seems there is no straight forward to way to simply select picture (either one you've take or one upload from cpu/bluetooth) and set the whole/full image as phone's background.
Cropping is forced and as far as i can tell MAX image is 2 THIRDS OF SCREEN!!

(Concept) Seamless homescreen replacer

I have a concept homescreen replacer where there are no "pages", instead there is one single horizontal scrolling strip, much like a film strip. Think Windows Phone 7, but with widgets, icons, folders etc and horizontal.
Look at the attachment if you dont understand. I would put the image in the post but I cant post outside links yet.
Yes, it is possible to see half a widget, but I thought about it and decided it will be to the user to scroll so it is displayed right.
I have no experience in coding but I am pretty good in graphics like my picture
Tell me what you think
I've been thinking about and attempting to create (with limited success so far.) something similar to your home replacement but Vertical Scroll rather than horizontal. To give you an idea it would look similar to The Zune Launcher or the but also be able to take widgets. Again no snap to screen (cant figure that bit out).
Good luck with this, it would be interesting to see what experiences you gain and what problems you run into. Similar to you I am fantastic with graphics but not too good at coding (not done any since C++)
When I "jailbroke" my ipod ages ago, there was a tweak that was called "smooth scrolling" and it did the exact same thing described here. I think it would be awesome to have a free-scrolling home screen. I am working on a home replacement myself and it features a vertically scrolling home screen where the icons and widgets can be placed anywhere (not snap to a grid). If you would like to help, click on the logo in my signature to be taken to my site to see what I am working on. I could use a hand in graphics, myself. PM me if you're interested
I would prefer something that is like infiniboard for iOS
This would technically allow widgets to stretch past the 1 page limit in LauncherPro, as in, you could have widgets large enough that they cut off, allowing for some GREAT theming and future uses.
hmmm....interested but why vertical? feels a little to Windows Phone to me and i think widgets would work better scrolling horizontally. I looked up smooth scrolling for iOS and yep thats what i want with widgets and gridless.
I just want to subscribe to this and give my two cents:
I think any seamless homescreen app should still have the option at least of enabling a grid for apps and widgets. The idea of this as a functioning homescreen replacement could certainly get me to switch over from ADW, but only if it could satisfy my OCD needs for everything to be lined up juuuust so.
I think this would be a great thing to have, but I also would like to have an option for the widgets & apps to line up on a grid. while it is great to have the seamless scrolling (preferably horizontal & not vertical...maybe there could be an option for that as well) I like things to line up too.
I could definitely make that an option for my home-replacement. I just want to know what people would want out of a home replacement so that I can model mine around the general consensus of what everybody wants. Oh, and why does everybody want vertical scrolling? Because its different. Sure Windows phone 7 has it. But it does it in its own way. Android is know for its open-ness and widgets. The wonder of Android is that anyone can do anything with Android, and its free.
At first I want to say that the idea of a seamless lauchner is brilliant.
I had that idea by myself but I have no experience in programming.
I think I would prefer somewalls original concept with icons that fit into a grid and horizontal scrolling. To me it seems to be more useful on portrait format screens compared to vertical scrolling.
But anyway, I hope the best for you guys.
I think vertically scrolling widgets will work buggy this way. Unless there would be some kind of listener that stops the horizontal scrolling when interacting with a vertically scrolling widget.
Else both ways of scrolling will interfere.

I like the idea, it's something that I would love to have on my phone! Just one suggestion.. I would like to see both horizontal and vertical scrolling, if it could be developed. As in, the user decides what kind of scrolling he wants, either vertical, horizontal.. or may be both? I don't if it's possible or not, I have no "serious" coding experience, as you may call it since am just in school!

[Q] Wallpaper size / turning off panoramic wallpapers

I recently asked in the Themes and Apps forum about making wallpapers and was told that I should ask in this forum about the size to make a panoramic wallpaper, but I was also wondering if there's an option somewhere in android 2.2 to turn off panoramic wallpapers and even stop the cropping (i've made some wallapapers with the screen's size and it still crops)
I use Wallapaper Set and Save from the Market
Tried it and it didn't seem to want to work with my phone for some reason.
Sorry, i meant xda's android general forum =P. There are more modders there.

As far as I know there is no option to turn off panoramic wallpaper in vanilla android. But in ADW Launcher there of course is this option. Google the needed size...I think I once did and found. But I'm not at home so I can't tell you right now.

I google'd for the size and got lots of different pages with different sizes @[email protected]
Look for M2 on http://www.gsmarena.com

I use Multi Picture Live Wallpaper to have different pictures on every screen. You can set a folder to rotate photos, or even a single picture on one screen... quite useful
It still wants me to crop the picture, even when I made an image at 25% of screen size on my PC. that's just annoying.
If you can use photoshop, you can do this:
Get the image you want as wallpaper, already trimmed, and paste it inside a square image with just a background color (preferably with a color from your image). When asked for cropping, crop the whole image and ask for no panoramic wallpaper. That should work for portrait mode. M2 screen resolution is 854x480. In order to get a perfect image, do this on a square image with dimensions bigger than 854
Sent from my A953
it doesn't ask for cropping, it goes straight to cropping. but thank you for the advice, I originally did a photoshop image of 480x854
And all you need to do is create a folder called wallpapers in the root of SD card and install Wallpaper Set&Save.
Open the ap and press Set Wallpaper. It show the wallpaper from the catalogue you created above. You can scroll through them. Press Set Wallpaper when you see the one you want and it's done.
DO not say it dos not work for you, because it does work. I have been using this for a year and a half, first on my MS1 and now on MS2.
When I said it didn't work for me, what I meant was that it wouldn't run for some reason. I'll give it another shot (I reset my phone to factory settings after I screwed something up)

Setting Wallpaper in Honeycomb - The Right Way

I recently bought the Moto Xoom and I love it. However, when I wanted to personalize it and change the wallpaper I discovered that it has only a very limited number of wallpapers to choose from. I tried to set an image as a wallpaper nd it would either get stretched or cropped and the end result would be plain ugly. So I tried to find a solution online and it be ame obvious that other Honeycomb tablet users also have the same problem. There were three solutions offerd:
Using Wallpaper Wizardii. This method worked somewhat but the wallpapers se by the app would stil lack clarity and the wallpaper would behave strangely when turning the screen.
Setting a wallpaper with Waterize. I haven't tried this method but saw people reporting the same issues as with the first method.
Lastly, some people suggested using the write size fir the downloaded images before setting them as a wallpaper. Turns out the correct image size for a wallpaper for a 1280x800 screen is 1920x1408. The you would set the image as wallpaper by stretching the crop area to include the entire image.
Well, I tried the last method and it also rendered to be far from ideal as once you try setting the wallpaper by stretching the crop area to the entire image, it would cut off the top of the image. I read other people could not set the wallpaper right either. I was desperate until I found the solution, which works perfectly. Here it is:
Follow method three but in PORTRAIT MODE. That is, download your 1920x1408 image, press the plus button on the top right of your home screen, choose Gallery, then stretch the crop area to include the whole image. Again, the key is for you to turn your device into PORTRAIT MODE while cropping.
Hope this helps.

Good info! I have been meaning to make a little something like this, as I have been doing the same exact thing for a few months now on my 3G Xoom. Indeed, the end result is a real high def wallpaper without all that cropping nonsense. This should be something that can be done naively on Android. We want high def wallpapers, not a cropped up one. Maybe they will do that in the near future. ICS anyone? Hopefully.
For me, the best way to set a high def wallpaper without cropping has to be from MultiPicture Live Wallpaper.
tried multiple times and it still does not work... Any other suggestions?
Same here the above method did not work for me either. Also multi live wallpaper does work but it lags alot and drives me crazy.

Maybe lag is not the right word, when I use multi live wallpaper I use one pic, no transition, and auto memory. What drives me crazy is when I am switching screens either right or left it is jerky. If this is not happening to you could you share your settings? Maybe there is a issuewith my xoom. I am
Rooted running stock 3.2 3g rom and kernel . Thanks in advance.

Your third method while cropping the wallpaper in Portrait Mode worked perfectly for me! The other methods I had tried to no avail. I had to set up a company background logo for our tablets and android would force me to crop them and here I was wondering why it asked me to crop an image that was exactly the dimensions of the screen. Thank you!
Simple Image Wallpaper Free is an app that solved the problem for me ...
