Car Holder/Mount TMOUS HD2 - Fitted Not Universal - HD2 General

Does anyone have a fitted car mount for the US HD2? I found a bunch on the forum for the EU/Asia model, but only the universal kind for the US version.

I bought The Rocketfish™ Mobile - Windshield Mount for Select Portable GPS Receivers - Black from bestbuy its only about $20 and works great (tight fit - but thats a good idea since you dont want it falling out while drving)

Brodit ProClip
I haven't bought the one for the HD2 yet (no car...no need ), but I've used their mounts for previous devices, and they're awesome. They have a model specifically labelled for the Tmobile (US) HD2, but honestly I think the same model works with the euro HD2 just because of the way it mounts (doesn't matter how tall the unit is)

That Rocketfish looks pretty sturdy and the price is great. Thanks for the heads up. I'd like to get a smaller fitted one that can also, hopefully, go portrait and landscape. Kind of like this, but for the US HD2:

Thanks. I'd like a windshield mount, I need it to attach to any vehicle when I travel.

Bestbuys rocketfish also rotates both ways It can also lock in which ever one you want. Its hard to explaine but it can move in just about anyway you want it and when you have it you can lock it there!
I didnt have much luck finding a fitted one for the US T-Mobile version thats why I got the Rocketfish GPS holder

Interesting, I didn't think it did, but that's great. I'll probably go with that if I can't find a smaller fitted one. Thanks again.

No problem

been using the brodit active mount for a few weeks. top notch.
the only thing i wish it had was an active 3.5mm connection for music. having to connect the cable everytime becomes tedious.

i really like this one. i asked the seller, he said that it would not fit the tmous hd2. i am almost sure that it should fit, 1.25mm is not such a big deal. have any of u tried it?

Same here i really like this one too and yes they said it's not fit for US HD2
i found this one what do you guys think? it can be detach to sit on desk or mount on windshield as well. i just email the seller to confirm all the given info on item page and ill sure to post the update

I second anything Proclip makes, not the cheapest but the most well made setups I have ever used. Made for HD2 US also.

If you like the Rockfish I just found and bought this.
http://www.techforless.com/cgi-bin/tech4less/RF-WSMNT?mv_pc=google_base&tts=20100507023700

There is also the connections for charging if you are going to get one with a charger. The US version uses the microUSB and the UK version uses the miniUSB

If only this one were available somewhere:

I used a HAiCOM mount for my Fuze, and it was awesome. Great suction, great fit, and this one I think would work with the US version, as I think the only dimension that is different than the European HD2 is the length. This model slides in and clips on the top, but the clip isn't absolutely necessary, so it'd still go in there fine.
Too bad I can't find it anywhere...

Found one that works perfectly!

Just got it in the mail today, works great even though it says it doesn't for the US HD2. The clip on the top secures it tightly, can rotate to landscape without problems. Finally! One that fits!

Use Brodit magician holder with wizard?

I have a brodit passive holder for magician. Is this also usable on the wizard? or do i need to find a new carmount?

I don't think so. Not without modification, I think. Wizars is thicker that Magician and will not sit properly in this holder. I think that your better bet will be holder for ETEN/TORQ
I e-mailed Brodit a few weeks back on this one. They said they thought they would have a holder out fir the K-Jam / 9100 by the end of October
Regards
Chris
I am going to try the one for ETEN nest week. Will post result here.
Cool thanks.
If the holder wont fit the wizard i could just sell it together with my old magician.
Please keep us posted if you find a brodit holder or any other that will fit the wizard in car.
Regards,
For all dutch users :
Mochten iemand nog een qtek s100 zoeken, pm me
Just tried a bunch of different holders at SkyeTech here in TOronto, none of them work with Wizard, including Treo650/JAM.
Let;s wait for ETEN ;0
Today i just modified my original passive brodit holder from my magician.
Works perfect with the wizard now. Only thing i did is cut some plastic away so the slide in the holder is wider.

Many thanks!! Looks great!! a couple of follow on questions if I may....
1 when you enlarged the slot, did you measure and scribe a line to work to free hand, or did you use any kind of guide to get a straight edge?
2. Off topic a bit, but are you using a GPS with the K-Jam? If yes, which one?
Many Thanks!!
Chris
@cbrow51
Yes, i drawed a line with some white pant and looked, didnt exactly measured how much. Used the dremel, and tried how it fit every now and then. Eventually it fitted perfect !
Also i do use GPS with the wizard. Works ok. I use a bluetooth GPS Module. Cant think of the name, but it has a nokia battery in it lol
I tried making a pic. Tomorrow i'll put some black paint over the area i made wider to make it look nicer.

Many thanks. You are the man!
On the GPS, can you recall the software you're using? Is it TOM TOM or something else?
Mant thanks

I use tom tom 5.1. Works perfect. Only i couldnt get working good was my traffic account. I'll need to have a closer look on that.
Im very happy with the holder as it is now. I could still use my mini-usb carcharger from the magician too.
Btw. The Brodit holder only costs about 20euro new. Just get someone with a dremel and spend half an hour with it. Its easy !
If you guys have more questions i'll be happy to answer them!

I just got mine the other day from eBay, and the front face doesn't fit all the way on or stay on. I'm going to have to return it and find another one.
I've finally tested this case for more than 10 minutes and I really hate the fact that the edges are not beveled in, making it extremely hard to use my fingers to press the softkeys on the screen, onscreen scrolling and some slight awkwardness when pressing the outside buttons.
Mine was also made of white plastic, so it has this ugly white lip around the edges.
After removing my BodyGuardz skin, the case fits snugly and is very hard to remove (I accidentally cracked the lower piece while removing)
Oh well, you get what you pay for. Time to read up on Seidio cases
http://www.wirelessaccessories.com/... 8925 - TyTN II - Kaiser&sfid=134039&c=164107
I've used these for my last 2 devices. I don't recommend the rubberized as they scrape up easy. While you get what you pay for ($5.95 + ship) so I buy several. I prefer the protection from scratches and ease of use . It does make getting to buttons a little harder, I agree.
I went on Ebay and got a clear one for around $4 shipped. looks decent, works, only thing about the clear ones is that dust tends to collect under them and phone looks dirtier. a quick clean and back to new. i dont recomend dropping the phone using the case, but in all honesty i dont recommend droping the phone all together.

Tips for a cheap & cheerful carkit - and it works

I didn't want a transformers style carkit for my Kaiser so I bought a magnet off ebay for a PDA - the Krusell one for £4, it comes with a thin metal plate you attach to the back of your kaiser and the magnet you attach to your dash. Well, it takes a lot to impress me and I must say it looks the business, also means you can have the Kaiser where you want it and not cradled low down. By chance I had my Tomtom Go wired in the dash from the cig adaptor and it's the same fitting, so a bit of re-routing and I have a carkit for £4 and 10 minutes of my time....priceless.
I'll post some pics when it's light ok.
Thank you for sharing, also will you please post the eBay auction you bought it from?
thanks
dont forget the pics. I think that might be a simple way of using the phone in the car
Here's a similar item on ebay - item no 160199677279
Total price incl postage is £5.50 (it's a UK item) - the full description is KRUSELL QUICKMOUNTER MAGNET MAGNETIC PHONE HOLDER
Pics soon ok.
They also sell this at sfplanet here in the States. Bought all my Krussel stuff from them and they ship fast and are not too expensive. Think this is what he's talking about...

Can someone find a pic or maybe even take a pic of what this looks like when it's attached to the phone? As I've said in a previous post, I'm pretty leery of gluing anything to my baby. Maybe when I get my Seidio kit I'll stick one on that.
It's gonna take some convincing though.

Just for info...
Be aware that the sliding keyboard uses a magnetic detector to operate and if you suffer strange turn-ons (take a cold shower! ) you made need to use S2U2 or Kaiser Tweaks to disable it.
Same goes for some cases that have magnetic catches, they can sometimes turn your phone on inside the case when inserting.
OK, as promised:-

I don't actually own one of these, so I cannot tell you for sure, but from everything I have read and understand, nothing actually attaches to the back of the phone. The powerful magnet attaches to your dash and then just holds your phone there through magnetic attraction to the battery through the plastic cover.

As long as there are no issues with keyboard sensor (sliding sensor), I would be all over this. I like the clean look.
JB
prob is that you cannot tilt your phone in any way with this...
i gotta say it is a nice solution if you have a spot on your dash that is a good angle for your phone... i dont though so i have to get a mount with an actuating arm.
Haven't got a pic of the back sorry, with the krusell kit you get a very thin (1mm) plate which you apply to the back case of the Kaiser. This acts as the bond to the magnet. The instructions say you can place this plate inside your battery cover but their isn't enough clearance on the kaiser - it's hardly noticeable anyway.
I've been using mine now for 3 weeks and no problems, the magnet holds fantastic, the kaiser never falls off or moves when mounted. Best carkit I ever had.
Man, I'd love to see a picture of the back of the Kaiser with the plate on it.

Fuze Bike Mount

Anyone know a good and cheap mount that fits the fuze well? Id like to use a bike computer/gps on it while riding.
Ive looked around on ebay and the web and cant find anything that looks like its sturdy or fits the phone well.
this is for the touch which may not work because its thinner then the fuze

It's your phone, but this sounds like a really bad idea to me. Rain or the splash from a puddle could be rather expensive, not to mention a crash. I'd just use a cycling computer if I were you.
I mountain bike, and I keep my fuze secure in the ipod pouch of my camelback.
Theres a ton of cases for other phones desigined for this reason that are waterproof and mounted to the bike...finding one that fits is the key. All the real cycle computers/GPS are all upwards of $300 - kinda stupid to spend that much when the phone can do all the same stuff.
plus im putting in on a road bike - nothing off road, the worst bumps i encounter are small curbs

I just bought this, closest waterproof box to the phones dimensions
http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-waterproof-aqua-box-3-atv-utv-strap-mount.html
Couldn't use the standard 1 inch u-bolt because my bikes handlebars are about 3inches, hopefully the strap is just as sturdy.
I also got this 1/2 inch foam pad, the box is an extra .38 inches deeper then the phone. I'll slice it to fit or the extra padding might be able to be compressed to make a real tight fit.
http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-aqua-box-3-foam-padding-0.5-inches-thick.html
Came to $60 after using a 10% off promotion code (RAMGUF5285) for ram mounts i found online - not too bad when most other waterproof cases are close to $100 with out the mount.
Ill post some pictures and the result once i install it and go for a test ride or two.

Perfect!! this is exactly what i needed. Its soild as a rock - the bracket and arm are all metal and the case is very strong plastic. It doesnt move or bounce at all when going over big bumps.
The best part about it is that the front of the case is soft clear plastic and the touch screen works through it.
Here are some pictures, hopefully this helps other people.

RAM Mount
+1 on using the RAM mount to attach to handlebars (although I have mine mounted on my motorcycle!) but instead of the aquabox (which I also have to use in the rain) I usually have my phone in a ProClip USA mount. I have the charging version (since I have power available, obviously) but in literally 1000's of miles I've never had my treo, 6700, mogul or now my TP come out of the mount, even with some pretty huge pothole experiences...
Regarding the aquabox, it seems to get pretty hot in there, and I've actually thought about drilling a few small holes to allow some airflow. Has anyone done that?
I have one of these:
http://www.boxit.net/engine.php?cat=327
It's the best solution I could find. You can still operate the touchscreen (including scrolling etc) well when it is in the case.

Very Low Profile Bluetooth Keyboards...?

I'm not thoroughly convinced that I need a keyboard with my device, but if I was going to buy one, it would have to be either very small or very thin. Why tote around a keyboard that's just as large as the tablet?
Any ideas?
Of course, there's always this: http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/keyboards-mice/8193/
(if it was ever in stock again).
I am currently using the Acer wrapping with an Incase faux-fir slip case, so I'd hope that it would be low-profile enough to fit in there.
I am curious as well. what are the best keyboard/case combis that we can get
If you give me 24 hours I think I may have a pretty small keyboard that may work for us. I just need to test it first to make sure the BT connects properly. Feel free to contact me 'if' I forget to hop on and post findings

I also wonder if one of these will work right. May order one just to try - would be great for travelling, just roll it up and shove it in your suitcase.

Also, a prerelease product info page on an interesting BT fold-up keyboard:
https://jornostore.com/
that jorno is nice but not for that much!!!! you can get a flexi keyboard bluetooth on amazon for around 30
I was considering getting the Motorola atrix keyboard.... i have the atrix so that with bluetooth on the tablet would work fine specially considering the android function buttons..
I have the Moto keyboard (Link) and for the most part it's a very nice unit. The only real issue with it is the massive bump in the back where they put the batteries and whatever else they have packed into it, that and not all the short cut keys work, but I am not sure that is the keyboard.
It's worth the purchase, and is very nice on the plane, but I find myself not carrying it locally just due to size. The Jorno looks like a great compromise for when I am more local but want to slam out a page or two...

I actually just ordered one of these for $7 since I was already ordering a micro HDMI adapter from MonoPrice.

Sure, it's not going to be the world's greatest keyboard, but I'm really just looking for decent yet portable. If I really need something more, I've got a Logitech K340 that works great. It's not bluetooth, but Logitech's USB receivers are so small anymore that it really doesn't detract at all.
I just purchased this keyboard

along with this stand

Wow, I forgot about that keyboard. I'm really curious to how it feels and types. Keep us in the loop!!!
I would like to see the review that ITSteve was going to do..
+1 Tor Thema review
Sorry, I have been swamped with work. I can confirm that this keyboard DOES work with the iconia but not with standard BT pairing. I had to use some hci files and script using terminal but it works great. I promise that I will get a review up. I did already make the screenshots with the terminal session, just haven't typed it all up yet

Stand is great, but unfortunately the keyboard doesnt work natively, it uses spp, which you have to purchase a 15 dollar app to use it with the tablet, and the app is a piece of junk, returned the keyboard, now i gotta find a new one
