Youtube no longer playing videos! - HD2 General

Yesterday youtube stopped playing videos. I can still surf through the videos but if I try to play one it just goes to Connecting... and then eventually fails. I can surf the internet fine in opera and skyfire and get on facebook, so I know my internet is working. I tried reflashing several different ROMs with no success at getting it to work. Any ideas? BTW, I am currently using the newest Artemis ROM but I have also tried multiple Miri and Dutty ROMS and the youtube didnt work either. PLEASE HELP! I love watching youtube videos on the go. I have also tried it with wifi connect and using 3G and both get the same error. Also I can open youtube and play a video in Skyfire so I am dumbfounded on why the Youtube program isnt working. BTW, I am using the a Testra HD2 on AT&T with 3G!

I read that Youtube recently changed their Flash version that they use. Could that be why its not working this last few days?

Someone please help!

Please help guys!

I've just tried and mine works fine, try doing a hard reset and see if that fixes it.

Using a registry editor like Total Commander, go to Hkey_local_machine/software/htc/youtube/proxyname and remove the value (probably wireless.cingular.com:80). Save and restart your phone and youtube should now connect. AT&T prevents the use of youtube and this is a work around. I thought mine was faulty at first but found out this trick from another thread.

I tried this but when I run Youtube it puts the registry back! What do I do?

What ROM are you using?

Nevermind, I got it to work. There was another additional key entry that had to be deleted that had wap.cingular.com:80 too. Thanks for the help guys! This forum is awesome. I only have one other issue to work on and thats the HTC messaging.
I am using the newest Energy ROM and when I go to send a SMS it uses windows mobile SMS program instead of the HTC one. However, if I open a incoming one by double tapping on the main screen it will go into the HTC one. Any ideas?

xstreamxm.com on Cingular 8525

Has anyone been able to get http://www.xstreamxm.com/mobile to work on their Cingular 8525 (Using PIE)?
I get to the page and enter my account information and the page just keeps refreshing and never opens media player. I thought once I got Cingular Video to work this would work also.

There was a post on HOFO and I found that the new ROM casues a problem with the proxy. But using Opera I got it to work, also the old ROM using PIE it works.
With the newest rom I had exactly the same problem when accessing xm via this website, but after some additional problems with the new rom I reverted back to original Cingular rom and now have xm running fine
You reverted back? What were the problems that you were having?

All of the problems identified on this forum....smartdial wouldn't fully function even with fix...device would quit reading files on micro sd card (that problem was too big for me with music, ringtones, navigation maps, etc inaccessible without a soft reset), odd freeze ups requiring a soft reset. It just seems like a rom update with more problems than solutions. Maybe when it is officially released by Cingular they will have some of the problems worked out. Hope so.
I got http://www.xstreamxm.com/mobile to work on my 8525 by downloading Opera mini and connecting. I lost Cingular Video because they blocked it again but I now get XM radio on my phone... I'm excited.
You can get Opera mini here: http://www.operamini.com/

Isn't this just the removehiddenproxy cab? If so, it's already loaded on the Pure!
I get "connecting" a lot on some videos, yet others work fine. If the linked hiddenproxy one is different, LMK, and I'll try that.

The pure has it. If you unlock medianet, you will see that there isn't a selected proxy, and you can verify "hidden proxy" with the cab...
start, tools, proxy manager.

that's obvious if you use the stock rom. if you flash a different rom that is not the case.
worse than u, i even can't run it after installation of cab...
some one said it is the problem of rom.
Notice how youtube on the internet regular computer requires you to login for even slightly risky content?
I'm thinking it's THIS.
Is there a new HTC version of youtube player that allows you to login to youtube?

Imagio Flash in Opera

Just wanted to let everyone know this worked on my Imagio.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544770
Which device did you choose to get this to work? I just tried it with diamond 2 selected and it appears that it's not working.
I used the diamond 2 turns out it worked or appeared to work for a while then stopped. I ended up uninstalling it. I just got a replacement Imagio due to a dead pixel and i'm going to see if i can get this working. It would be nice to have flash on our phones. It worked on my old diamond.
Works on my Imagio. I am able to watch Youtube with Opera, but not crackle.com or anything else.
What I was really hoping for was getting pandora to work with it. No success yet though.
Can't get it to work. Care to share your setup process?
Alright
Just use pocket Internet Explorer. It already has flash embedded. Check out Skyfire also.
A browser with out flash is stupid. People want full featured ****.
Pandora you might be able to get working with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4093037&postcount=1
IMO skyfire is much better at handling flash.
IE needs tabs
I've been trying to watch megavideo, because megavideo stupidly redirects you, you can only watch the video if you have a Mobile browser with tabs and good flash

Youtube

Hi all
I am having problems with logging in to youtube through HTC sense on the HD2. I can log in to Facebook and twitter just fine, but whenever I try to log in to youtube, nothing happens - the icon does not turn green, but stays greyed out. I have tried on 2 different HD2s, using two different youtube accounts, and have even tried following a hard reset with the same results. I have tried to log in using the data services in the settings, and also using the account manager in the connections settings. I would like to be able to upload my videos to youtube from the HTC album, but of course I can't do this until I am logged in.
Is anyone having similar issues? I am using the 1.43 ROM on O2 in the UK. I don't really want to upgrade until the official ROM is released.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Just had the issue with my German Tmobile ROM.
Youtube was disabled...or no idea what Tmobile did to the ROM.
Now with the clean 1.48 everything works fine.
regards
brook
I'm on t-mobile on the uk and YouTube does not seem to work over 3G or HSDPA. works ok over wifi, now running 1.48 WWE ROM.
Sent from HD2 keyboard
One thing I will ask, is there any way when using the Youtube application, that when you do a search, the search results are similar to that of the actual Youtube website.
I often do a search in the app and will get no results, or very different results and on the website will gain the proper results.
Any suggestions?

Youtube login fix
Ive noticed something odd about the logins in Sense UI for youtube (and probably Facebook etc), if you have a non-alphanumeric password (a password with say [email protected] etc ) you won't be able to login. Just change your password with google/youtube and you can login. I assume the same goes for twitter and facebook.
Thanks for all the responses. Looks like my best bet is to wait for O2 to bring us the official 1.48 (or 1.49) upgrade, or to try the goldcard method. Just to respond to some of the suggestions, I have tried both over wifi and 3g with the same result, and I already have an alphanumeric password. Anyone else having this issue?
yep I have an official o2 ROM and I can't log into YouTube.
Looking suspiciously like an issue with the O2 rom. Have asked over at the O2 forums if anyone else is experiencing this. Will keep you updated.
Im on o2 and I dont have a problem, works fine for me.
Im also still on .143 rom.

Another troll post by you... reported!
On topic: If your device didn't come with the youtube application, you might want to try this alternative: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508984
For all Coreplayer users: Coreplayer also has Youtube integrated.
By the way:
I have written ALL of my recent posts on the HTC HD2. Typing on a mobile phone has never been so easy.
I made a thread concerning the youtube app and the camcorder. My T-mobile device didn't come with the youtube app so I decided to install it but it seemed to mess up my camcorder. I wasn't able to play the videos back.
Has anybody had this problem?
yep i`m on tmobile and i have the same problem, desperate for a fix!!!!! i have the original youtube app off the topaz/hd but my videos wont play when this is installed, uninstall it an my videos play fine. i wish i had the knowledge or understanding to make this work, unfortunatly i dont LOL!!
someone on this forum must know how to fix this, surely!
OK, I'm making progress. I created a new youtube account, which I can now log in to properly from the phone. My original youtube account still isn't working, though. From feedback I have had elsewhere, I'm wondering whether this has anything to do with the fact that this is linked to my google account. For those still having this issue, I would suggest trying to create a new account on the youtube website and trying to log in to that. Also, I noticed that I have to log in using my user name only, not with the email address, as this doesn't work. Hope this helps someone.
same problem
mine was working fine until today when I goldcarded it to the official htc 1.48.405.2 rom. now it doesn't work.
anyone figured this issue out yet?

Youtube app won't start

Hi,
I've looked on the forum and can't find any answers to this one so apols if it's been asked before......
I'm not sure if it's something I've installed or a registry setting that I've changed from the tweaks list but every time I try and open the youtube app that came installed on my t-mobile UK HD2, the app won't load. It pops up the screen for 0.5s and then it goes off again.
I've tried installing a new version of the WVGA youtube app and this does the same. It also makes no difference if I'm on 3G or wi-fi, the app starts up, displays "Downloading" and then the screen reverts to the home screen.
I've done soft resets but to no avail - I don't want to do a hard reset if at all possible.
Has anyone experienced this and overcome the problem ?
Thanks,
Inclement

There's an ongoing discussion about getting the youtube app working on T-Mobile provided HD2s. Apparently if you get it working then it stops some other video functions working.
Do some more searching (I'm sure you searched before opening this thread) to find that discussion as it will no doubt be the best place to start.
