Alphabetical album navigation? - HD2 General

Hi All, I was wondering whether it is possible to make alphabets visible on right side near the scroll bar in the music library when accessing songs Album wise, which would give easy access to the albums starting with a particular letter. I am really missing this feature as I have to scroll down the entire list of albums in case my album starts with letter 'Z'. (
Is there anybody out there who has got solution for this? may be a reg tweak or something similar. I would be really grateful to them.

This has been brought up before and I think its a must really if you have lots of music.
Unfortunatly it seems to be one of those request that seems to get ignored by developers & HTC alike, I don't know why but its does. I really hope we have better luck with this thread.

there is an additional player for winmo with this funktion. but i would also prefer to have this function in the build in player. that this feature is missing just making me angry while using the player. also a build in search couldnt be that hard. htc devs are more or less brain afk while coding.

iDeas for touch orientated applications

I would like to start by saying that I am no longer a Coder.
I am really impressed by Tene for his Contact Manager. Such a simple and effective design is to be admired.
So I wondered what else could be done by clever coders?
Here are just some ideas...perhaps others will flesh them out, mock them, or better them:
Calendar viewer
using the same interface it could be possible to flick through our calendar entries...the a-z menu perhaps replaced by days of the week. Instead of favourites maybe that screen could be a new appointment creation screen.
Task Manager
similar to calendar manager but for tasks...
Picture Viewer
Again same basic interface but now using thumbnails instead of names...
Music Player/Manager
Perhaps even mp3s could be served up in the same manner...flicking through playlists selecting one and then going into the right hand detail screen to flick through the tracks...
I am struggling to find an easy program that allows me to quickly create an ordered playlist from disparate albums.
File Manager
Imagine flicking through the directory structure and manipulating files by fingers...
I just thought it would be good to start a thread of ideas for members to make touch orientated program suggestions.
not the least to Tene...
All the best,
Sam
Just thought I would raise the post again in case anyone was interested in adding ideas...
All the best,
Sam

[REQ] Ideas for WM6.5

Hello, I've been using WM 6.5 for a few weeks now and am really digging it! Good job to Microsoft, I think good things are in store for the future. Anyhow, there are a few things that would make 6.5 much better for me, (and perhaps many others) so I thought I would turn to the community to see if any of you talented developers can help me out. I have 2 request:
1) Tasks summary panel for Titanium. Perhaps the default pane would show the number of currently active tasks, then swiping through the pages would scroll through the tasks in an order according to the 'sort by' option in the task menu, ie priority, status, start date, due date.
2) MP3 player control from the lock screen. I think ms did a great job with the lock screen. It's wonderfully functional and if we can implement some tweaks and changes to it, that would be awesome! I imagine if this is possible, WMP may be the easiest to run in tandem, though controls for other MP3 players would be preferred, such as S2P or HTC Audio.
Whaddayasay? Is anyone else interested in this?
Thanks!

[Ideas] Windows Application Skinings [Long - Rant Material]

Hey guys,
I've hadmy HD a while and think it is by far one of the better phones I've used. Though like many reviewers and people have said the interface could do with a face-lift of sorts.
It just occured to be that maybe this would give the HD more appeal and with XDA being the largest resource of designers and coders for Windows I don't see why it can't be done.
Basically here are a few of my ideas, not all of them are applicable and I'm not a programmer as such and nor do I know the major workings of Windows mobile and I know there are alternative applications for these things but some of us just want a new skin not a new program.
Ok let the ideas flow:
SMS/MMS: This one I truly find depressing. I don't feel there is a need for a seperate program but if someone could just skin the display it would make sending messages that extra bit more 'entertaining'. I know people here dislike the iPhone I don't blame them but just have bubbles around threaded messages could really make a difference and improve communication. If I recall a lot of these edits can be doen through XML files. I've seen a cab which increases the size of the message box so it looks like atleast some change is possible. So adding more colour and imgry I think would be of benifit here.
Calendar/Tasks: Both I feel could do with a major new modelling but I use Calendar Touch so I've found my alternative. Though I think just making the display match Outlook on the PC a bit more of just making the buttons and fields bigger if possible would make the applucation more usable.
WMPlayer: I've tried MortPlayer and Pocket Player, the former crashed my HD as it wouldn't unistall so I had to hard-reset and the latter I left was good but just needed to appear more complete (some menus didn't match the styling of the player skin - also very confusing to use at times). Enter good old WMP, I enjoy using the skins already available, but the menus are still small and the fact I have to click the song then 'Play' I think is backwards, where on earth is double click! Is it possible to skin the menu to be bigger and look more user friendly?
These are obviously my thoughts and opinions but what I'm look/hoping for is for someone to code something that modifies these problems. Ofcourse this is open to discussion and people please do discuss.
haha, I had the exact same idea. I thought of some htc style cover for the wm interface and new apps for sms, notes, calendar etc.
going to move my thread to this section, will probably get more attention.
WONDERFUL!
It's good to see people with on a similair though pattern.
Any views, opinions or ideas?

HTC Music Player

Hi Folks,
I hope I am not being lazy here, but I have looked around for a few days through many of the related forums to the HTC HD2 and Windows Mobile forums.
What I am interested in would be adding functions to the music player on the HD2.
I listen to a lot of audio books and have tried some of the (rather useless) audio book add-ons or stand alone apps for the phone. One or two of them just showed a list of books that would not or could not open; others just would not open at all or could not load on the phone.
Thinking laterally, as I do, the issue is I don't want a new app or an add-on to the tabs already available, just a change / addition to what is there already.
The Music Tab, great place to start. Why can't we have a little button the rewinds the book, or any other audio file, back 30 seconds every time you tap it. And why does the player not hold on to “where you stopped listening" and start from that point when you start play again later. A media book mark if you like.
So here is my request;
1. Can these be added to the music player? I do not have the skills to even work out if it is possible.
2. Could one of the many well accomplished coders who frequent the site manage to take this one. would it be a allot of work? Can it be added as a cab install?
I wish I knew the answers to at least one of these questions. You guys seem to be able to tweak and mod everything else on the phone. Or do I just need to learn coding, hacking or making .aa files from mp3s.
Hope someone can answer this, I for one think it would be a great addition to an already great phone.
Thanks guys (non-gender salutation)
Billy

[Q] Sense Music Tab

i am using cloudy 0.7 wm6.1 with manila 2.5.20183025.0 and i never really used the music tab before, in fact i deactivated it and always used coreplayer to listen to music and books on tape.
now i decided to give it another go and face some questions about that tab/player:
1. how do i exclude folders from the library or define certain files to be the sole library? i don't want hundreds of tracks from my audiobooks in there, just music.
2. i read of people mentioning sense's capabilities of downloading album art but i can't seem to find any option for that.
btw. if anybody knows a nice freeware/open source program (for windows pc) for automated sorting and renaming mp3s based on internet databases like cddb, where you have to check and do manually as little as possible, it would be very nice. unfortunately, most of my music is highly unsorted, and all programs i tested so far need to much work on the user side to not totally mess up and that way it would take me ages to get my stuff sorted out.
thanks
Tony
EDIT: additional information:
i realize, not exactly many people seem to use that rom these days, so to further clarify what version of the player this is all about, i attached some screenshots, so basicly anybody with the same version could drop some advice here

I cannot help with the HTC sense stuff, but i can recommend MP3tag I have used it for years to keep my music library in order.
It does need a bit of user input but i have found it very helpful, it is especially good at making sure all tags follow the same format & making sure that all data is in the correct fields, it can also import album art from a number of places.
I agree about mp3tag (I'm using it for years too), but...
mp3tag helps if music archive is at least partially organized... or you have a lot of time
But once you organize it... man, you can do with mp3tag small wonders...
I have never seen mp3tag downloading album art from anywhere
Still, I'm highly recommending mp3tag (check screenshot)
