No voicemail message notification!!! - HD2 General

Today I dialled my voicemail to check for messages as it seemed odd to me that I had none in the 3 weeks i've had the phone?!
I found 11 messages sitting there waiting to be listened to, some of which were very important!!!
Where is the voicemail notificaiton?? Is this just my phone??

Go into Sound & display in manilla. Click on Notification sounds & then select Voicemail on (this is disabled by default). Then go into All Settings > Sounds & notifications > Notifications in Winmo & select a sound for Voicemail. Hope this helps.

Yeah that is on and only gives a one off sound but what about an icon on the task bar??? If I dont here the sound then I have no idea that I have a voicemail!! lol

I get a missed call icon on mine & also have set up with Vodafone to receive a text message. I am using Brians Taskbar. Are you using the stock taskbar?

Missed call icon doesnt tell you there is a voicemail though does it?
I'm using Brians too but only as of today, so I get nothing on that or on the stock taskbar.

Just checked and I too had voicemails waiting, where is the symbol on the taskbar?!

Yeah exactly!! Yet another bloody 'bug' for us poor HD2 users lol

Not quite the same as a taskbar icon... but in all settings > sounds and notification, there's a "display message on screen" option for voicemail

I don't know if the notification system for orange and vodefone is the same as o2, but when i call my o2 voicemail there is a setting for notification types. ONe to send you text, one to call you back and the last one is to send a voicemail notification to the phone.
The last option is what enables the voicemail icon in the taskbar.

I can get the notification with the LED but it keeps blinking after listening to the voicemail (when the message has been leaved with the HD2 turned off only). That's really annoying.

It's better than nothing if it stays on the screen until you close it or listen to the message?!

No idea, haven't tried it but I assume it stays on until you dismiss it.

Same problem here with the standard taskbar.Taskbar Icon is missing. Im getting stupid texts such as >@ or [email protected] I wondered what they meant untill I check my voicemail and found 2 messages.

LED Notification
Mate this is a feature!
How did you get it to work without realising?

Sorry i haven't understood.

does anyone have a solution to this?
ive been using my HD2 for about a week now and never realized this either (Im on Rogers network in Canada)
I just did a test by leaving a voicemail:
I get a missed call notification
a SMS about the voicemail
but NO VOICEMAIL icon! (usually looksl like the little tape)
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I've been into the "Sounds and notifications" menu and checked "Phone: Voicemail" and checked off "Display message on screen"
but still no icon on the taskbar?
Anyone know?

I've not found anything yet mate
At least you get a SMS notification!

I've just read through these and I'm thinking you are after the same thing I am. But just to be sure, I'm going to reword what you are looking for. Because what I am looking for (since I also get the missed call, and the voicemail text) is the option to simply tap the voicemail icon and have it dial into my voicemail automatically like I used to be able to do with my htc tytnII. For now I have to go to my phone screen and press and hold one, which I find a pain as some times I don't have time to check my messages right that moment, but I hate turning off the phone with the missed call and voicemail text still there, so I get rid of those, and then forget to check voicemail later. Are you guys talking about the same thing? And has anyone yet found a solution if so?

SMS Notification Problems

Hi guys.
I seem to be having SMS notification problems. Upon receiving a SMS I get the notification fine, but when I dismiss it it does not go away unless I dismiss it a second time.
This is very annoying and hopefully not a "feature" of WM5 notifications.
Furthermore it does not seem possible to dismiss the voicemail notification AT ALL...
Reg fix anyone?
Thanks for any help!

I can't say you are the only one, but for certain, I do not have that problem. As for voicemail, once it is listened to, the vmail indicator/notification should go away.
Damn so then its a problem with :
a) Software I have installed
b) extended rom cab i have not installed
c) the planet alignment...
As for the voicemail yeah listening to it makes the notification go away, but surely "dismiss" should make it dismiss without needing to actually hear the voicemail ?
Anyone have any ideas ? I can post exactly what roms/software I have installed if it helps...
Cheers!
The "sms" that you have received is not a normal sms notifcation from the voicemail.
I think your voicemail has an extra option for notification, it's called "icon notification" in a normal phone you will see an enveloppe which tells you there are new voicemail messages. this enveloppe can only be deleted by listening to all new messages, after you've done that the voicemail will send a notification to your phone to turn the icon off.
BUT windows mobile 5 cannot handle the icon notification which means the icon will not be removed if you listen to your voicemail messages. while you're listening to your new voicemail messages you will notice that you will receive an empty sms (this is the notification for the phone to turn the icon off) unfortunately the phone does not understand the notification to turn the notification off, so as far as I know there's no way to get rid of the message.
I solved it by turning off the icon notification option in the voicemail, then did a hardreset and but my backup back.
I hope you understand what the option icon notification, otherwise just ask!

Voicemail - popup nofitication dismiss does not dismiss

I know there is a standard feature in the wizard where when a new voicemail comes in, it does a popup notification saying you have 1 new voicemails, etc.
I also know that when you click "dismiss" the popup notification is hidden, but no new popup notifications can come in until you actually listen to the voicemail.
Since I don't like to listen to my voicemail, is there a way to change the behavior so that it "clears" the popup notification and I can get to my other popup notifications?
I too HATE this problem. I have not yet searched the forums for a resolution, but I will see what I can find.
BTW: I had forgot about that problem (must have just been ignoring it) until you brought it up again! :x
Later; Lew
As far as I have been able to determine, there is no way to make it go away. However, new notifications do come in (but do not pop-up automatically). You can access the new notifications by clicking the notification balloon on the top of the screen. I use this quite often to get to the missed call notification without checking my voicemail first.
i too am having this problem and was wondering if there was a fix for it, it is quite disturbingly annoying.
Sometimes i get a slew of notifications and since i cant see them all since i am at wrk and i get time to see them usually voice mail is the "TOP" one and will not dissapear until i LISTEN to it, EXTREMLY annoying.
Does anyone have any fix/work around?

Hi... I wanted to bump this message because I have the same problem and I was hoping there was an easy answer.... i figure its an easy fix.... but man its annoying getting that voicemail txt msg and you tap on dismiss and its still there...
thanks in advance..
I just posted an ongoing email thread with Cingular/HTC support for the Cingular 8525 (Hermes) about the exact same issue. Included in the emails is a verification that this is also a confirmed bug on the Cingular 8125 (Wizard). I am going to stay on their asses about the 8525, and post any replies I get. Here is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299865

settings\sounds & notifications\notifications tab
select Messaging: New text message from the "Event:" drop down menu
uncheck the "Display message on screen" tickbox.
click ok.
go have a beer and chill for a minute or two and voila! it bloody works!
I feel you
I would also like to know if it's possible to turn SMS *receiving* off completely (i.e. so that the phone will "refuse" to accept SMS messages but will continue to receive regular voice calls).
Any suggestion?
Cheers!

You could just call your carrier and tell them to turn off sms on your account.

sure , but then again for voice you have unconditional voice forwarding that you can control yourself, whereas for SMSes you have... nothing!
i guess it would be easy to hack the phone to report something like "memory capacity exceeded" when the network tries to deliver a short message and you don't want to receive any messages, but want to still be able to receive phone calls. that would make the network store your message(s) and try to deliver later. i also guess that would be much easier than waiting for your operator to implement something like "unconditional sms forwarding"

dan
There are plenty of applications that will block SMS's. Photo Contacts Pro, SmartBlock, EasyHelper SMS, etc. A simple search would have turned up a ton of them.
If you go into the phone dialing app and go into options, there is a tab for "services" that is listed in there. It give you a number for the "text message service center" - you might get what you want by changing that to 0 or something. Not sure.
But yea, you should be able to call your carrier and have them turn this off. Since they charge you for incoming texts usually, they should have a way to opt out.

changing the service center no will not prevent your phone receiving short messages, it is only used when you send them.
over here operators don't usually charge for incoming text messages (unless it's from a special service). i remember that on the other side of the atlantic things are quite different

[Q/SOLVED/G2] Voicemail status problem

Ok i've noticed that ever since i turned the phone on the (new voicemail) notification is on in the status bar. when i click on it it dials the voicemail but i have nothing in my inbox. The notification continues to stay in the status bar and i have done multiple resets already. any ideas guys?
I think it has something to do with visual voicemail. I know the problems is also on the HD2. Do you ever get text messages that have "129" on them?

Hmm i dont think i ever had a text like that. but i sent myself a voicemessage just to see if that would clear it up but instead i got a email, the visual voice mail notification, AND the regular "dial voice mail" notification and the "dial voice mail" is the one thats been stuck there.

I have the same problem. Can't find where to disable missed call notify in status bar. Turning off missed call LED doesn't help either.
I had same problem and googled it... simple solution.
Call your cell from another phone, leave a message.
Then go into voicemail on the cell and delete messages... it somehow takes care of the stuck notification, even if you've tried deleting THAT message before...

I don't think you understand what they want done. They don't want the phone to show a missed call icon in the notification bar.
Seeing as how to get rid of the messaging notification was under messaging app, i would think it would be a setting in the phone app but the phone app has no settings :/
