Why seems the HD slower than the XPERIA 1 ? - Touch HD General

Hello
I just bought a Touch HD and an Sony Xperia1.
I will send one back.
I would prefer the Touch HD but although they have the same hardware nearly - the Sony Ericsson just seems faster in reaction.
Can somebody tell me way and if there is a fix for this.
I have used a lot of HTC devices lately and they seemd all a little slow - sometimes it tooks 1-2 seconds until something happens. I know this is MW6
but when I got the X1 2 weeks ago I was surprised how smooth and fast it worked for a WM6 device.
No or neraly no lag.
Perhaps someone can tell me if my feeling is wrong.
Ahem - I think the both share the same cpu - do not they ?
Regards and Greetings
Marcus

I would suggest doing a search (it's on here somewhere) to find recommended tweaks to get it running quicker. They make all the difference.
Also I would have a look at Advanced Configuration Tool Version 3.3 (Julien Schapman 2008).
I hope this helps...

hi you all ı find the cab which name is htc hologram ı didnt make it to work may be you will do here you are
oh sorry
you can watch it in youtube with little search may be we will see games with this 3d
What does it do? The title intrigues me.
Too difficult to add the YouTube link?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8EgbEfaOn0
if u think it'll work on other devices without an accelerometer, then im sorry to say but youre wrong
OMFG, I love this !!!! If you could make it fullscreen it was perfect.
And do a QVGA version as well plz.

Martin
Pretty good. Using the camera to perceive movement. Very nice.
dammend, absolutly sensless, but really cool, how is this workin ? ,i think not with the accelarator, because it reacts on very small movements of the device ?
Edit: okay it uses the G-Sensor, its a xda devs baby, look and download here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425216
did not know that the g-sensor is so sensitive.
Someone mentioned that it uses the cam. Would be great for a QVGA version...
Might require some Mhz though.
this is megacool. and i think i'll draw the last breath from my polaris for this.
No way this is going to work with the camera.
The software currently works only with HTC Diamond/Pro due to its Hardware accelerated 3D and Accelerometer.
hei looks funny will it run on normal device? I mean not only diamond and pro?
This would be cool, but probably be a lot of work for something you'd have fun with for a grand total of maybe five minutes.
Reminds of the development for the Wii.
i just wish somehow someone could make this work using the camera...
htc touch pro 2
i know this works for htc touch pro 2
you only have to instal some extra software and a ati driver
can someone provide that software (in a link or something like that)
thanks in advance
I'm sure this is about 1 Year old.
There must be an old Thread here at XDA about this but iam too lazy to search now.
I remember using this on my Omnia and its definately using the G-Sensor and not the Cam.
Not working on HTC Imagio WinMo 6.5...
Not working on HTC HD2 but i see on youtube working please help

HVGA screen

HD Mini will be the first WM with HVGA screen.
Will applications, which are made for QVGA and WVGA compatible with HVGA?
I have thought of this problum
I find a idea which may solve the problum
QVGA is 240x320
hVGA is 320x480
VGA is 480x640
so we use the tool WVGAfix to change hVGA device to QVGA and run QVGA's program
Sorry for my English

Hmm, "soon" WM 7 will be out and all developers will jump on this since new software needs to be made......WM 7 is not backward compatible.......risk is that not much will be done for this phone .....
that's my thought too.
if every single app has to be rewritten: why should one develop for windows mobile? why not moving on to android and stuff?
this could get aweful.

Hmmm you made me thinking .....will have a check on adroid.....on the other hand if WM7 is a cracker (and microsoft makes finally good mobile software) we can wait for that. Numerous apps will come available via windows marketplace and XDA ofcourse.....
I have theese considerations too, and my good old Iolite soon needs to be replaced.
However I think WP7S and devices will need so time to mature.
Meanwhile I'll stick to WM 6.5.
Wish that the CPU was 768MHz instead of that old 600MHz.
But I still think that I will buy the HD mini. The HD2 i too big for me, and after watching alot of HD2 videos on youtube(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOV7PH3J0j0), I must say that it really dossent impress me that much.

Hello, I have just purchased HD mini. My previuos phone was Diamond 2. I found out that most of applications which run on Diamond 2 don't run on Mini properly because of different screen resolution. WVGAFix.cab mentioned above does nothing. When I launch it, it just states: Sorry, WVGAFIX3 can't run on your system! Is there anything to do about it? Can anybody help?
Thanks
Probably the only thing you can do is to email the developers of your applications and ask them if they intend supporting HVGA devices. On the optimistic side, HVGA is one of only two resolutions that will be supported under WP7, so if they're porting to WP7, they'll be doing the graphics work they need anyway. Just a question of whether they think there's money to be made from the last WM6.5 device.

The file is incompatible with HD mini.
I suppose I will never have the fone with everything so I will settle for a very good one.. ..two..[E71 Black (hackd 2 pieces) & HD mini]. I am disappointed in the small amount of apps I have found so far (especially disapointed with the Max Manilla incompatibility). For that & the like, the HD2 is worth its size but I would sacrifice the compass for the size reduction.
Is there a way around this screen resolution issue then??

@Betox;
I've installed TomTom 7.910 on my HD mini and it's runs without a problem.
Just search the internet for 'TomTom_7.910.9185 QVGA Black'. Obtaining the maps shouldn't be a big problem either...
Is anyone cooking the latest WM 6.5 ROMs for HVGA (or is screen resolution even an issue with ROMs)?

Is OMNIA 2 Worth it??

Hi all,
I am thinking of selling my Xperia X1, that still is a great phone, but I wanted something faster.
I am considering Omnia 2, because of the battery life. As it carries the same battery capacity as Xperia, I would like to know how it performs.
My other choice was HTC HD2, but when I heard that I could not be sure it would even last me one day, I started looking for something different.
I want a WM phone, as all the programs I have (like GPS Tomtom) run on WM and I am used to it right now.
When I read some reviews about Omnia 2, I got the impression that the Samsung skin is slow and not very useful. I would like to ask if there are some good ROMS for it that solve the problem, and if you think it is worth moving from X1 to Omnia 2, or should I just go HD2.
Thank you all for the input.
UI performance with rom that my O2 shipped (I8000NIL5) was poor. Every time you switched screen widgets reloaded and this took time - just watch some review video and you will know what am I talking about.
Now I am using I8000NJD3 rom (by the way, it is WM 6.5.3) and UI runs smoothly. It is really a big difference! Plus you can choose between widgetplus and samsung today home screens (like work and life mode with B7610). Samsung's cube and main menu are gone but if you ask me they were useless. Also all the programs are updated but there is still room for enhancements.
For me, battery lasts for 2 days - hour or two of conversation, few messages and some web browsing using wi-fi. Decent performance I think.
Well with heavy use I can not get through all day without charging but that is the story with all phones on market.
You mentioned GPS program. It takes few minutes to get a fix on cold start on a sunny day.
And, when I bought a new phone I was choosing between O2 and HD2 too. Decided for O2 because I got it for ahalf of HD2's price (talking about carrier's price, not retail!). I am pretty satisfied with decision.
I had the same choice as well and chose the O2 over the HD2.
I am happy with my little "Sammy" as well.
Mr Frog
I think my Omnia 2 (i920) battery has only died once since having the phone since December. I use internet and messaging pretty heavily daily. I have no problem getting a day to two days worth out of a full charge.
The samsung widget interface isn't the best, definitely laggy and widgets are unresponsive or disappear at times.. but that's why I don't use it
There are tons of other UI's though, the one I've been using and like the best is throttle launcher..
The thing I like most about Omnia 2 is the swype keyboard, makes typing really fast once you get used to it.
The one issue I have had with this phone is that incoming phone calls or text messages will sometimes go unnoticed. That is because the ringer will not sound, yes even when volume is on full. It seems a lot of other people have been having this problem too.. It happens about 40% of the time and is rather annoying.
If I had a choice between HD2 and this phone I would definitely not purchase this one again. Overall it is a good phone, I am just tired of Omnias (had Omnia i910 too). They seem to be late to market with features and so on, not really ahead of the curve..

Never had this problem. But I have I8000, not I920.
out of the box this phone (i8000) is a peace of **** that you will just want to throw away. But thanks to cookers that issue is solved this phone dose everything you need. Using a custom lite ROM i get around 100MB of usable memory vs the 40MB on stock. I read many reviews on this phone as well and was a bit worried about it but took the plunge and could not be happier, the fact it had such bad reviews made it that much more cheaper when i went to purchase a new phone. So in the end it was a great deal for me and the hardware is still amazing for this phone, yeah it not your 1GHz snapdragon but still good enough. I just hope samsung do not forget out this phone and continue to support it, mainly adding openGL support. They have been very good with updates thus far and now its 6.5.3 so it getting better.
This phone has 2 major problems
1.) Low RAM which can be fixed by using a lite ROM, although i hope future updates reduce the reserved RAM.
2.) OpenGL driver, this phones dose not have any. I did not take this into account when i bought the phone. I thought it would just work and all apps won't have any issues and i was wrong. There are devs working on the drivers like chainfire and they do fix many apps like sences and the such but again its not fully featured drivers.
So if you buy this phone you will have to flash and tweak it to get a everyday usable phone.
p.S wtf how do you guys have swype as the default keyboard?

ohh i wonder if i can get my hands on a cab
Thank you very much for the input. It was very helpful to see what users think about their devices. It makes me sad to see such a great phone, with an OLED screen and a big batterylife, with such poor software. I like WM phones, and I do not think I will switch to android that fast, but the only usable WM phone is HD2 and that has a battery life of an hybrid car (2km just on battery). If you use it moderatly it will not even last you one day.
I hope that this phone will at least have good gps tracking, better batt life, and that with a custom rom it will be faster then my Xperia X1.
If anyone wants to add something new about this phone, just post it here.

Many here currently using kydkylin sence ROM although its a bit slow still a lot faster then stock, just avoid using the music tab if you want to keep RAM usually have 50-60MB after full day. Or if you want the litest ROM there is tw2 JE1 gives around 103MB on boot.
Thanks a lot.

As said there, roms mentioned there are made by Samsung but can't get them via PC Studio, so I don't know if I can say that this is official upgrade (decide by yourself ).

I quite agree with most points made here, but there's a lot more to this phone than what you get out of the box.
Once you've registered on this and Modaco's forum the possibilities are virtually endless with the i8000.
When I first got this phone I nearly sent it back because of the lagging and I fancied an Android device( I still hunker after the Galaxy S now ) but I have stuck with the i8000 and I am very happy with it thanks to the great people cooking roms out there!
Omnia II is wonderful
I think this phone need excellent people to cook for it. I'm waiting for Energy ROMs to come.
* The camera is realy nice with alot of features to make nice pictures.
* Video recording is wonderful with 720 pixels recording. "I used daiamond, touch pro & HD from HTC. I will tell you it is wonderful and the difference is big.
* The samsung applications are nice and you will see tha the samsung taste is there in all applications. Sometimes you will forget yourself as being using WM!!. It is another taste.
* The battery is really having good life of more than one day for sure
* The processor is 800, the screen is much better then that of HTC.
* Samsung is producing official firmware nearly every month and although it was originally coming with wm 6.1 but it is officially upgradable to 6.5
* with the new firmware coming last July the free ram is nice. With good cooking it will go more.
* The performance is rely fast and rarly you need to do soft reset.
In summary, When excellent cooking coms to this device it will be more wonderful.
Thanks

HTC HD Mini = HD2 ?

Hi there,
I will get a HD mini in a few days and I was wondering if the HTC HD Mini is a mini HD2 or not (hope my question is not too stupid) ?
And if yes, is the Nand available for the HD2 can be used for the HD Mini ?
Tarmac
Hi Tarmac,
I don't think that this is the good section but... whatever !
The HD Mini has a 600Mhz CPU (vs 1Ghz), a 320x480 pixels screen (vs 480x800) and many other different things.
So I'm pretty sure that nothing of the HD2 will work (and with and old 600Mhz CPU, what can you expect ? maybe a first Wildfire ROM base...)
I haven't checked but does the HD Mini have a subsection on this forum ?
you should have posted this in Q/A thread.
and no you cannot use things related to hd2 with hd mini.
there is a seperate thread for hd mini.
as well as i know, hd mini can run sd android (with the help of cotulla of course)
but i haven't heard about nand android running in hd mini.

many of WM games/apps use resolution upscaling/downscaling so that meant it can run on many resolutions, developers are not building games/apps only for a resolution or only for a phone...
and about CPU...it has NOTHING to do with ROM ))
we can port ROM's of whatever HTC Android with Android 2.2,2.3 phone and run it on Mini...

Basic Information About HTC HD2

I am going to buy HTC HD2 or HTC Desire HD.
1)From what I know hd2 was made to work with Windows Mobile but supports Android, I wanted to know if the HD2 will run Android smoothly without problems & bugs? Android Market works?
2)The HD2's touch is smooth while running Android? or it has delays?
3) How the Desire HD is different from the HD2? I know the camera is better in desire hd and also the RAM is a bit higher, but what else
4)HD2 works perfectly with Android 2.3 Gingerbread?
5)The phone memory in the HD2 is lower than the Desire HD, wanted to know if it's making a big difference.
6)Desire HD run games/Apps faster than HD2?

1)HD2 runs android smoothly imho... android 4.0 may have a few problems but thats like every other device
2)im running sense 3.5 which is gingerbread and the touch screen is very responsive no delay
3)dont know anything about the desire but i know that the roms for desire get ported to hd2 so we get there roms anyway
4)as i said earlier gingerbread sense 3.5 is great (using the ENERGY rom)
5) i dont thik the less memory makes a difference i have installed a fair few apps and still have room to spare
6)app/game speed differs between devices some may be faster on hd2 than desire you never know... i find the apps are quite fast
hope this helps

I haven't used the DHD too much so I can't say which is better but 0my HD2 on CM7 appeared to keep up in performance in terms of scrolling, web browsing, opening apps etc. (i.e. not benchmarks) with my friend's DHD on CM7, and I would guess the HD2 is cheaper but the HD2 is absolutely terrible for playing HD games or games involving multitouch. In order for HD games to run smoothly you have to sacrifice either speed or graphics, and the HD2's screen only supports 2 points which is a massive let down for me. As much as I love the HD2, if it were up to me and both were around the same price I would go for the DHD, even if it is a slight bit more expensive

Yes, unfortunately It does that very poorly as well, I can't describe it but sometimes it appears to lock the two points together if they are on the same line if you know what I mean, it's quite difficult to describe.
Let's compare the Touch screen to SE Xperia's touch screen, I know that in Xperia you can work with 2 fingers and even more, HD2 can work with 2 fingers like Xperia does? I mean same quality of touch

1 Finger flawless
2 Fingers decent
3+ Fingers doesn't work
NONE OF THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE INNUENDO
As I said before, I might buy one of them from someone (not new from shop), what should I check to make sure the phone is working well and without problems?
I have an HD2 and am currently running the Energy ROM with sense 3.5 and Gingerbread. The screen is extremely responsive and over all the phone works great. I would recommend getting the HD2. It is one of the best phone out there as far as specs go and it isn't that expensive anymore.
If you want to buy a second-hand HD2, I would like to suggest you to check:
1. 3G data connection (refer to This)
2. Button response
3. Camera flashlight
4. Record video for 5 mins
5. earphone jack and some MP3
6. blue tooth file transfer
7. speaker
8. GPS in some navigation apps
9. Wifi of course
10.Ninja fruit for multi-touch test
Better bring a TF card with files or pics you want to test.
Since my HD2 has data connection freeze issue, I suggest you to buy a whole new handset like ONE X (if you like htc), with warranty. All these unsolved problems on HD2 are driving me crazy.
I'm running hd2 with ics tytung v1.5 with little to no known problems other than music app fc'ing. Their is a touch issue, namely screen lag, but I only notice it when playing games at a fast pace. Hd2's seem to regarded as highly adaptable as well. Not sure about dhd.

Hi dooshbag45, I am thinking of changing my gingerbread rom to ICS. My current rom keeps rebooting when I am using headphone to listen to music. If i use loudspeaker it does not reboot. I have even had to think twice buying a beats audio headphone because of this problem. Does the ICS rom that you're using only fc or rebooting also? Is it only when you're using the default music app or also with third party app? Mine even reboots when i am using winamp.
hd2 pros
Many OS available (android, wp7, Ubuntu, etc)
Great screen (for devices age)
EASILY nodded
Cons
Touchscreen issues - using more than one finger recognition, failing digitizer (design flaw)
Data drop (happens to some, a simple disconnect/reconnect solves)
1 rear 5mp cam
Specs are showing their age but still hang with the best of em!!!
I've had a hands on with a friends DHD so the below is based on a QUICK hands on
DHD pros
Native android
Slight advantage on HD2 (hardware specs)
Cons
Smaller screen
You want android ... You're stuck with it!

Incorrect. The Desire HD has a screen of 4.3", which is as large as the HD2.
Hi
I've used both. And both are great devices too. The only drawback for both of em are lack of front cam. But IMHO go for a newer model. Like sensation and EVO 3d. You may get it cheaper also.
But the final decision be yours.
