I wonder if someone can help. I am using a MDA Touch Plus running Niki projects v1 rom, hardspl and radio rom i dont remember which one exactly. My problem is that i can see signal bars atleast 2 or 3 but i cant make or receive calls. When i try to call it just drops the call without ringing. When someone tries to call it goes straight into voicemail. I cannot send or receive sms messages either. Rest of phone(pda part) works fine. If i try any other sim(O2 or Orange) it does not get any signal at all. The phone is sim and cid unlocked.
In desparation i have even tried orignal HTC ASIAN ROM with no luck.
Any ideas??

Hi all the buddies out there...
Did anyone experience problem with making calls and receiving incoming calls? I tested the ROM without any add on application installed. When I call my mobile, the first attempt will not be able to connect and it will end up into my voice mailbox. Second attempt will wake up the phone and get connected. Sometime, first few calls will be also failed.
About making calls, sometime I can't dial out and need to try few times. It make me very frustrated with the problems of the basic function of a "phone". I really appreciate any suggestions or fixes you may be aware. Many thanks.
Make sure you hardreset with NO/YES/YES options.

Thanks for your reply. Of course I do hard reset everytime I upgrade my BA code and when I wanted to clean up my phone. This is a normal procedure.
I believe everyone who is using it as a phone will not live with the phone function problem. I would appreciate whoever ever experienced this problem and have the work around method can share with me. Billion thanks and hope I can really get a solution. It is really frustrating...
i read your previous posts (re WM5 roms), and it is puzzling why your unit exhibits problems on calls even then...
is your radio already v1.15?
I did not have any call function problem with the earlier version of WM5. Ever since I upgraded my WM5 to newer version, I started to have the phone's problem.
I tried to downgrade the radio firmware from 1.15 to 1.13 to 1.12.
1.12 so far give me the least problem. I experienced drop calls occasionally, but huge reduce in incoming call problem. I still can live with sometime cannot make outgoing calls. The most important, people can reach me more consistently.
I had this problem on Orange UK; a new SIM card fixed it. Try borrowing a SIM card from another phone and see if the problem still exists for you.
had changed to a new sim card but problem persist..I think will just throw away my BA...
Wouldn't be cheaper to go back to WM5 or WM2003SE, instead of [FONT="]throwing[/FONT] the BA...?

I experience the problem with Radio 1.12.
When I upgrade to 1.15, the problem is gone.

This happens to me after switching the telefon mode from off to on. the phone itself needs some time until its "ready for use".
Another possible issue is one using a 3G sim card in a 2G phone. has happened to me with a prophet. Changed to an old sim card and it worked perfectly. Try changing the sim card to a known 2G and see what happens.
Just switched off the phone in the comm manager (it is an option available to facilitate the PDA usage during the flight journey).
Now my phone is fine and working.

Phone not ready

Im a first time poster.....
I have an Imate Jasjam.....
I recently upgraded the ROM and ever since, i keep getting the phone not ready and no matter what i have read in these posts i cant get it to work.....
I have even gone as far as starting over from the original ROM and now the original ROM shows the same problem.
Its really annoying not beingn able to reply to msgs im getting and even worse, not being able to modify the setting in my phone to disable call forwarding to my voicemail.
I have the FCW Home HD ROM installed and have tried upgrading the radio, but fail everytime.... im guessin im using th ewrong one so if anyone knows an up to date radio i can install it would be good....

I think you are posting in the ROM forum. Are you sure you have a Charmer cause I don't know the ROM you tell us.
Hi, can any1 help? I had my xda for ages but now I come to use it,it cant make or receive calls! It all worked fine when I put it away a year ago and now its stoped. SMS txts works fine I have flashed it but still no go! Please help

Yes mate its a voda sim and now the firmware is voda, I have tried others like Qtek, O2 but no look. I`m wondering about changing the eimi number, but even that not so easy the rom wont let me, its says its done but its not! any ideas? Please

Hi all still not got anywere with my xdaII no matter what i try still only get txt messages and cant dial in or out. The sim is UK voda. I check to see if they blocked my imei number and its not black listed. Please anyone HELP!!!!!!!!!

I have tried to install other versions and other radio versions but the problem is still the same.
I have full signal, i can use the internet, I can send and receive SMS but i cannot call out or receive calls.
Today I tried to put my SIM card in one of the newer HTC models and everything worked fine.

Try to change your Rom, i recommend Schaps or TNT.SE and check the forms which Radio to use in your country, though your problem is really weird.
I had the same issue and had to temporarily use an iPHONE !!! AGGHHH !!!! . try to disable the 3G through the Comm Manager. See if that works. it worked for me, made things slow, then after a few hours i decided to try to turn 3G back on, and it worked fine.
I then flashed to a new ROM - but had the same issue again. i did the 3G diable thing and it worked for me.
No real answers here, but give that a try.

Altough i get full signal, i can't make/receive calls.
If i make a call it disconnects and i can hear a string sound (similat to a guitar).
If i receive a call the voicemail answers.
I cant make calls like *100# or any other stuff.
I changed the Radio, from 2.97.xx to 3.34.90 (or similar) then downgraded to 3.21.90
Is this a virus?
After i make a soft-reset i can make a call, but after 2-3 minutes, i can't make anymore.
Please help.
Btw, i'm using Orange.

I'm also interested as to why you downgraded the radio? Did you get the issue on the 3.34 version? If not, can you not just put that back on?
I'd try hard reset before anything else like nnph said.

I had the same problem with an Orange SIM and the solution was simple.
I had a card SIM of 32k, I changed it for another 64k and problem solved.
Orange charged me 5 euros for the duplicate card, that's all.
in order to get to the bottom of this you should try:
1.if you consider the sim to be the problem: put the sim into another phone, see if that works
2.if you consider the phone to be the problem: try a hard reset! think if you had the problem before/after radio upgrade? if hard reset not working then try a different rom/radio.
If none of the above works for you than start to take into consideration a hardware problem, which I really doubt !!
Ironjon, did you had the exactly same problems?
I also have Cosmote, but it was doing that only when i had weak signal.
In other phone is working.
But i think it's sim's card fault. I only paid for the phone 25 E, it had broken speaker, i had someone to repair it for free. I'm not very upset if it not works, at least i can keept it for wi-fi and games.

Yes, I had the same problem.
I tried with 3 SIM cards of 32k and did not work with any.
I tried with some SIM cards of 64k and works fine with all.
