Hi!
SIPchange is a good software but i really need a registry hack for change the default keyboard.
I have to make a CAB file with a SIP keyboard that makes itself the default but don't hide all the others.
Have anyone ideas?

Touch Keyboard autoswitch between 40&20 keys (Help)

Has anyone figured out how to prevent the Original "Touch Keyboard" on the Sprint HTC Touch from switching between the 40 key version to the 20 key version?
It's anoying whenyou need to type something it chages to the 20 key.
I've looked in the registries and I can't find anything related to that.
i know there was a cab released that hacks the touch keyboard to stay only on the 40key mode but it disables the xt9 in the process, if you can live without it
http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146118&page=2
look at post #25 your just interested in the registry hack to make it only 40key
Hi,
Thanks for the Reply. But I didn't see a CAB file there. There is a more.zip files that looks like a full keyboard installation. not really a fix to the existing keyboard.
Is there anything else?
Thanks,
suggestion: get touchpal www.cootek.com
ya its a registry entry i typed it out wrong
teste2.zip contains the reg entries to turn the 20key permanently to the 40key

Setting TouchPal as default keyboard

I really like TouchPal, so I set it as my default. This setting is lost when I do a soft reset. How do I make TouchPal my permanent default keyboard?
Maybe this is what you are looking for...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271008
Yeah, SIPChange is by far the easiest program I've used to change the default keyboard, and it works flawlessly with the Touch.
Thinks, that worked!!
Why would you use that, manual settings and stuff when you can have everything automated, including tons on interesting settings correctly configured to work in the easiest and most convenient way?
Try FingertouchPRO, I'm sure you'd feel the difference. I've tried too many keyboards to easily recognize a winner. Download your cab from www.fingertouchpro.com

default keyboard

any one know how to change the default keyboard on an alltel touch(vogue)?
SIP Change
wow abe you really get around. I appreciate all your help. I dont understand what a sip is though. i installed the resco keyboard and there was an option to set it as default, now i want the 2manyphones pcm keyboard to be my default but I cant figure out how to change it. And I cant uninstall it cause it always says its in use. once again I need the kings knowledge! thx man
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271008
did you try switching to a different keyboard before uninstalling?
ya it still says theres a sharing issue and it cant be uninstalled
Make sure under all settings for each keyboard, that it's not set as default, if it has that option. Then open SIP change and set it to whatever one you want as default, with about a 15 second delay time, and after a soft reset, you should be fine.
SIP = Soft Input Panel or Secondary Input Panel

don't bother deleting the default keyboard, just try other keyboards such as spb keyboard or resco keyboard and make it as your default one.

The easiest way is to use SKtools.
Advanced Config has a setting under "Input > Auto deploy SIP:" to disable the soft keyboard in most situations, I find that works for pretty much everything except Opera. If I remember correctly Opera has it's own registry entry for stopping the SIP popup.
I don't like having the SIP at all either, it seems pointless considering we have a hardware keyboard, and I always prefer disabling and/or complete removal than adding more software to acheive the required result.
The on screen keyboard is indeed useless. Is there a way, without installing apps, to disable it?

SIP = software input panel = stupid archaic useless microsoft tiny keyboard popping up everywhere
WinMo was designer TEN YEARS AGO for 320x240, 32MB RAM devices, and has not changed to date... SHAME Microsoft...
I've dealt a lot with opera:config and I've not found where to disable it yet
can someone point to where the SIP is on Advance Config? Can't seem to find it. Thanks.
How do I set the htc keyboard to be default?
Start Menu -> Settings -> Input -> set your Inut Method as "Full QWERTY" if that's the HTC one. I'm suprised nobody answered you, it's quite simple.
My Bad, it doesn't work after restart.

How to prevent applications from changing SIP?

Till now I've been using the HD2's standard HTC keyboard as SIP, as I haven't found anything I was really satisfied with.
Until yesterday I installed Resco Keyboard Pro 6 Beta, which is just fantastic (read about it elsewhere in the forum). Perfect for HD2.
But now, I've discovered that a number of my apps changes the SIP back to standard HTC when I open them. Resco's option to make its keyboard the default SIP does work. After soft-reset, it's still the default SIP in most programs.
So I tried installing Fingerkeyboard, SPB Keyboard, etc, just to make sure it wasn't Resco's fault (as it's a beta version anyway...). The same happened with all the other 3rd party keyboards.
Is there anyway to prevent apps from changing the SIP? It's driving me crazy, have to manually switch back to Resco everytime I open those stupid apps (which I depend on at work ) Thank you in advance.
Use XDA google search and look for a programme/cab file called sipchange.
Install it then select the keyboard type you want as your default; problem solved.
WB
Not that simple, I'm afraid. My problem is not how to set Resco as the default keyboard after SR. Get that already with Resco's own inbuilt option. Then I tried using both SIPChange and default_IM_WM5.cab. It still happens, some of my apps changes the keyboard back to standard when executed (and it is not about setting the delay in SIPChange, I'm talking about after all the processes during SR).
That's strange. Never had this problem with Sipchange installed.
You are certain that you have set your preferred default keyboard via the sipchange utility? That's how you get the keyboard you want to boot up after a SR.
If yes then not sure what else to suggest.
WB
Hi, I am having the same problem. One example of such software is Lingvosoft, when you hit search key, the keyboard pop opens, but with default keyboard, even after using sipchange.
I was thinking maybe there's a way to disable the standard HTC keyboards all together through the reg. But that's asking for trouble/hard-reset
What to do...
I think the problem is that using SIPChange, DefaultIM.cab, nueSIPdefault, etc, none of these really changes the value of "defaultim" at controlpanel\sip. It remains with the standard keyboard's CLSID.
I'm really tempted to change this value to Resco's, but reading around here in this forum shows a lot of people having big trouble afterwards messing with this value (mainly because they used the wrong CLSID?) and required a hard-reset...
