Vodafone Germany to Release the HTC Trinity as VPA Compact GPS - P3600 General

"Vodafone Germany's online shop preview unveiled that the German carrier will launch the HTC Trinity (also known as HTC P3600) as VPA compact GPS soon. As you can see on the name affix 'GPS,' the Trinity definitely supports GPS which makes it the first 3G enabled Windows Mobile navigation device. Other features of the HTC Trinity are Windows Mobile 5.0, quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 3G UMTS/HSDPA as well as W-LAN and Bluetooth and a 2.0 megapixel camera."

Yeah, I saw it on their website yesterday. Looks great. I am living in Germany and looking forward to it, but I am a little uncertain because of the "peel-off"-problem.
Mark.

Just use a silicon case

Does the german (Vodafone) VPA Compact GPS has a simlock?

I heard that only austrian decives have a netlock not the german ones. Is that right? Nobody with a german VPA Compact?

Hey there,

Need some info about T-Moblie MDA II in USA

It has been a while since I have read the boards and so I am having a problem finding any information on whether or not I can purchase a MDA II and use it with my T-Mobile service in the USA. I currently have the older version of the T-Mobile Pocket PC phone and would like to upgrade to a new phone. Can anyone help me with my question about the MDA II in the USA or is there another PocketPC phone you would recommend?
I think the MDA II/XDA II only works on 900MHz which is used on European networks. I'm not sure if it works in America or if it works well in America.
Actually, T-Mobile USA does 900MHz don't they?
T-mobile in the USA use 1900.
As far as I know the MDA II is triband so it will work with T-Mobile USA
It will NOT work with cingular

Any phone that uses 1900MHz will be fine for you then.
I have an O2 Xda II bought in Singapore last Summer and I use it in NY on T-Mobile. It works great.
I have just upgraded my ROM using the latest UK patch 1.72.187 (radio 1.17.00) and it works fine.

WARNING: T-Mobile MDA Vario 2 (=Hermes) WILL be Netlocked

According to the T-Mobile Germany Homepage (http://www.t-mobile.de/shop/handy/0,4855,2963-_5540-0-1-0,00.html).
So, for god's sake, if you are in Germany, better buy the O2 Trion (=Hermes), which is not locked (http://shop2.o2online.de/o2/interes...duration=24&salesChannel=SHOP&categoryId=1120)
it's true
i hold today some in my hands -> Netlog
isnt there a way of unlocking it....?
I'm happy to say the Vodafonev1605 is comletely unlocked. I tried a T Mobile sim in it with success.
I'm assuming this is still the case in Germany too.
PTM
funny they are unlocked in germany, cause in the UK they're all locked whatever the network (on contracts). But maybe the phones are more heavily subsidised in the Uk than they are in germany..
Got the MDA VarioII on t-mobile UK, and can confirm it is network locked
T-Mobiles MDA Vario II is NetLocked in Germany, whereas the o2 Trion isn't. Unlocking whithin the 2 years period is 99,95 € from T-Mobile, after that time it's free. Right now there is no free tool to unlock a Hermes, as far as I know. But at http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m3100unlock.php you can unlock it for aprox. 30,- €.

is TyTN compatible in Japan ?

I have a question for all japan Xda-dev's : does the TyTN work in Japan ( I will be in Tokyo next week) or do I have to leave it at home ?
is the FOMA of NTT (or VODAFONE umts) compatible with this phone ?
thanks to all
yes. i believe it works with docomo's network. the HTC TyTN is GSM/WCDMA and since japan's network is WCDMA, it should work there. I alse believe that Japan is selling the TyTN as the HTC Z in Docomo's network.
Take a read here:

I am really using Dopod CHT9000 (Taiwan version of Hermes) in Japan.
I have confirmed that it can work completely with Japan's W-CDMA 3G networks, both NTT DoCoMo and Vodafone Japan (FYI, its name will be changed as Softbank from Oct 1).
thank you all, and this is the official HTC reply to my question
Dear Lorenzo
Yes the HTC TyTN is fully compatable with the Japanese networks. We also supply phones to Japan and have many satisfied customers there.

I would be careful my XDA EXEC only works on Vodafone because docomo base stations are a mixture of R99 and R4 (Standard)
Unless they are upgraded the stations or the Radio firmware on the Tytn you may have problems if you use DoCoMo on a non japanese Tytn
XDA thread on this :-

Also it's going to be pricey to run since Vodafone or docomo doesn't have capped price plans (i.e all you can eat)
They do offer discount plans but they are still damm pricey ( I'm using a PDA and a PHS card because of this)
Rob
I am using Dopod9000 with a FOMA sim card, working perfectly for both voice and data. I used to go with Vodafone which is really expensive for data but Docomo is getting affordable, it can be close to 10,000 yen a month like what Willcom (phs) can offer.
Dug my Exec from the back of the cupboard last night and tried the FOMA simm from my work phone
Still doesn't work on DoCoMo which radio version has your phone got on it ?( Setting--> system ---> device info)
Thanks
Rob

HTC P3300 simunlock

Hello everybody out there,
I have recently purchased a T-mobile bundled MDA Compact III (3) alias O2 Orbit, HTC P3300, and Artetimes. I have been going through this forum to see how I can unlock the simlock: However, I did not find a specific answer. Some people have luck using xdadev_all_unlock-v1[1].6_138.exe but it seems like these people are living life dangerously – I.e. I can’t see if the developers behind the tool says that it supports the P3300. What are your suggestions for having this cell phone simunlocked freely?
Another question: Is there any difference at all between the MDA Compact III and the HTC P3300 at all? Some say the T-mobile unit does not have WiFi, is this true?
Sincerely,
Niklas Laugesen

T-Mobile UK ROMs

hey guys,
I just upgraded from a Prophet to a MDA compact III and was just wondering where to look for upgraded T-Mobile UK ROMs. I mainly ask this out of curiosity, not because theres a problem, it's just upgrades for my previous Pociet PC devices which I had through orange (SPV m2000, M5000, M600) were always on one of the orange sites but t-mobile seem to be quite eluseive as far as handset upgrades are concerned.
Help would be appreciated.
there is nothing available as yet, you can check here for updates - http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com
