Yes they do it was rolled out mid to end of september.

I got mine yesterday. I moved from a Sprint 6700 to the Cingular 8525. Loving it so far - I've been reading this forum for several months so I pretty much knew what to expect.

Change your sig!
You need to represent your crew =P
Later, Lew

i just ordered mine today from cingular!!! Tried on thursday and they said it wasnt in their ordering system yet, so i called today (friday morning) and they said it was in there but not available to ship yet, so i called back later on tonight and she was able to place an order for me!! and i get free expedited shipping, i should have mine on monday!!!

Here's a question for you:
I purchased a TyTN last week rather than wait for the 8525 for a couple of reasons. First, I travel world wide and my company has SIM's in the major locations that are country specific, much cheaper and bill back directly to the company. Having a virgin, unlocked TyTN makes this a breeze. Second, I HATE being locked into the "upgrades" that Cingular always puts on their phones (like disabling DUN on the Treo 650....) so I usually always unlock the phones and flash them back to a RoW image.
With all that being said would I gain ANYTHING by flashing my phone with THIS officially released Cingular image? Would you do it?
The reasons I'm considering it are 2 fold:
1. Perhaps the Radio ROM is better
2. It would provide the default Cingular GPRS/UMTS settings so I don't have to re-input them every time I cold boot the phone. (I'm sure there's a way to save these either through a registry hack or a file hack but I haven't found it yet).
Again, What would you do in my situation
BTW, the phone ROCKS. Cingular has UMTS in my market (Central Florida) and aside from a UMTS glitch in the North Orlando switches earlier this week that drops call (they say it's fixed) the performance with internet and Goodlink have been outstanding.

Yeah Tom the engineer said they are in the optimization phase right now so they will be occasionally taking down sites and fixing. The one in Orlando had a problem with the T1 line. I will be posting more updates as i talk with him about the CFL area.

XDAII Compatibility on Australian Networks

Hi guys,
Im from Melbourne, Australia. I had a P800, which I lost last week. I was going to get the P900 (due out here in 2-3 weeks), but have decided to go for an XDAII. The problem is, insurance can get that model (in about 2 weeks they said), but they told me that the XDA doesn't work on their network.
Im with Optus by the way.
Does anybody know why the XDA wouldn't work on the Optus network, or IF this would be the same case with the XDAII? I absolutely love the XDAII, and am eagerly awaiting its release here so I can get it, but not if it doesnt work on the Optus network. Does anybody here know? Thanks in advance.....
Hey there....I'm an Aussie also (Brisbane) and whoever told you that Optus don't support the XDA is full of #$&!. I have been using an XDA on the Optus network now for over 6 months. Here's proof : http://www.optus.com.au/shop/ow_pda
Funnily enough - i recently damaged mine (accidentally) beyond repair and have also been given the option of getting any new phone of my choosing (guess which one I am going to choose!)
XDAII of course!!!
So - do you (or anyone else) have info on the expexted release date in Australia (other than the "end of November" posted on the myxda.com site)???
Can't wait!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your quick reply.
Thats what I thought, why the hell would they sell a device that wasn't compatible on their network? Insurance on the 1800 number are extremely useless about details, they werent even aware what a PDA was, they said "they only sell mibile phones"!. HAHA.
I called a guy at Optus at Highpoint shopping centre where I signed up, he said the XDA had a retail price of $1290, and that the XDAII would be available around 2-3 weeks. He said expect to pay about $1,500.
A more reliably source at Calculator King in South Melbourne said it would be between $1,400-$1450. He also said 2 and a half-3 weeks, and that was on Saturday! Cant wait for this beast of a device to bless my paws. P800 is a good phone, P900 even better, but they are like comparing a Audi to a Lamborghini when throwing an XDAII into the equation.
it should be compatible with every gsm network as far as i understand what the gsm std defines
what you are saying is right
the reason they might think its not compatiable is the fact that some HTC phone's work on the 900/1900 GSM band and some on the 900/1800GSM Band
in Aus we are on the 900/1800
the XDA II is triband 900/1800/1900 so it has to work
i will now soon im getting my very soon!!
CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MikeXDA2:
With the insurance (mine is gonna take another 10 days to process), If you want to upgrade your handset, do they go by retail price for the phone that you did the insurance claim on, and then you add money on top?
What I mean is, say with my P800 and I want to get the XDA2, Do they tell me that I will have $1,490 credit for my P800, and then pay the difference (if any) for the XDA2? Or, as its through insurance, do they go by a different price other than retail?

T-mobile lead times: Whats going on??

Hi,
Ordered a Vario 2 from a T-mobile store about 4 weeks ago - still out of stock. Tried to order on-line, order was processed successfully but then had a follow up call saying its out of stock.
I really need to get off my current tariff so hope they sort something soon!
Is anyone else in this position/has anyone else managed to obtain a phone in the last month? Any T-Mobile insiders have an idea when your getting some?
Thanks,
Paul
Yeah i have ordered one on monday. Still no news os still waiting. Let us know whey u receive one.
just to upset u all. i ordered mine online on last tuesday, and got it the next day been playing with it ever since.
Hi there, if it's t-mobile UK you are referring to I ordered mine 12 days ago online and received it the next day. I was told on two occassions when I called them that they were out of stock, but one day I rang they had 500 odd in stock. That is when I rushed my order through online.
This would mean I had mine when your order was waiting. I'd ring them and play hell if I were you.
Thanks for the tip off g00nerz. I guess there possibly working through a back log of orders, that said, I am not impressed at having to wait a month when other people have got one very quickly - I'm going to give them hell tomorrow!
Many Thanks.
I ordered my vario ii through t-mobile direct from my holiday in spain on monday 8th october and it arrived at my home in the uk the next day.....
these are rushing out of stock so fast, so it you can grab one, get it fast...
This has really annoyed me - thinking of choosing a different carrier - its ridiculous to wait 4 weeks for a phone - the store hasnt even given me a courtesy call. I know they're in short supply but I've ordered two in the last month and neither has been sent!
Thanks for letting me know the "state of play"
Hi All,
Rang Tmob this morning inquiring the status of my order and apprantly the update is that there are component shortages (did nto say what components) but the long and short of it it that the phone will now not be available until the end of the month !!!
So i guess we will still be waiting a while then !!
I spoke with T-Mobile yesterday as I was expecting a swap out unit today. It appears that the current batch they have in stock is being held back for quality checking. I had a problem with mine (another replacement received Monday) which indicated that the manufacturer (HTC) has not carried out the vendor specific setup properly (ie keeps asking for a network unlock code). I can only assume other stock units have got the same problem.

Wow. Went to order mine today only to find that T-Mobile have completely removed the Vario 2 from their website.

I wouldnt worry about that, it disappears and re-appears all the time! When I went to sign up for a web and walk tarriff the other week the only phone it would offer me (and put in the basket!) was a v3 razr - in pink! Phoned customer services and they said that the website was in the process of an overhaul and hence it was in error.
Tell a lie, just checked my e-mail and its been dispatched -- hoorah! Should be here before 1 tomorrow apparently.
Maybe the MD of T-Mobile reads the Hermes message board?!

Since T-mobile introduced the new WebnWalk tariffs on Oct 1st 2006, the Vario2 has flown off the shelves becuase the handset doubles as a USB modem for laptops and the WNWPlus is a better package than anything Vodafone or Orange offer with their data cards. This is why I bought one to try out for my company, I know of another company that bought 31 for their sales staff in one hit and more of my customers are doing the same having been pleased with what I've told them already.
T Mobile takes the phone off the website when they sell out which accounts for its dissappearance. I must say though as a business customer the service is fantastic, everytime I have called CS I have got through in under 2 mins usually it takes a few rings once I have got through the menu system to the right department and am very pleased with it. I've got my TT6 installed with my GPS236Slim receiver, can take calls whilst its plugged in to my laptop as a modem and Remote Access (Terminal Server) is usuable even when not in a 3G cell so I'm in heaven and it works on the norfolk broads of all places!!!!!
Ah that's not so bad, then. Never having used T-M before I didn't expect that. I would have thought that just marking it as not currently in stock would be a better option that pulling it, but maybe that's just me.
I guess I just check the site to see when it reappears, then!
Awesome. I just had a call from T-mobile UK. The Vario 2 is now in stock and I can order one for delivery tomorrow.
I had to check on some things so called back, spoke to someone else, and suddenly they've not been in stock today and won't be available until next week.
Mr. left hand and Mr. right hand need to get talking, I think.
T-mobile told me that they'l have them in stock this week when rang them last week. I've just come off the phone from t-mobile and they've just told me they had no idea when they'l have them in stock and to try next week...... wtf cant they get their act together. I've never known anything like it... if only orange or vodafone matched the web n walk tariff then i'd be off like a shot!!! (i think its ony a matter of time) if anyone from T-Mobile is reading this "this get your act together".
Just rang T Mob again and this time not end of the month but "we have no clue when they will get them in." So my response well for the inconvience are you willing to throw in a free SD card or something else ? Oh No sir we are not allowed to do that. Ok then thanks for your call !!
WTF!! what do they mean no clue. Why accept orders when u know you can fulfill them ??
Anyway just an update for you folks! Dont except the vairo II anytime soon. (I hope i am wrong) !

Lost my Ameo!!

Hi Guys, well god only knows how but I have lost my Ameo 2 weeks back... thankfully I have the T-mobile insurance. However there are no Ameos about and so I now have a TytnII which is surprisingly good... although I miss the wonderful VGA screen .
Anyway I got to thining about my lost baby. Now T-Mobile have blocked it, and its reported as lost so I guess if anyone switches it on they will get barred from UK Networks (assuming they are still in the UK of course!) and hopeully it can be tracked by cell? What I was thinking though is that even when it's blocked are the buggers who now have it able to use it as a brilliant GPS unit still? I had TomTom and iGo 8 on it!!! Can it be tracked and caught that way maybe? It really peeves me to think that someone could use it as a GPS and get it for free instead of handing it in!!
Anyways hopefully somone will tell me the GPS wont work if it blocked, or that it will be tracked and the buggers caught!! Here's hoping... oh and if they go abroad will it still be blocked? Did UK set up international blocking or not? As I hear a lot of stolen phones end up in Asia and the Far East now!
The simplest way to catch the burglar is to wait the IMEI appearance on the network, tracing the phone position using the network info AND the SIM card subscriber's data!
Agreed - but im thinkin if its blocked and they decide its a nice gps now, they can stick it in flight mode and use it like that?
Sorry but the GPS will definately still work, as it is completely unconnected from the phone, however it wont work aswell because the software "Quick GPS" requires an active data connection to allow a quick lock ! so now they will have to wait a while everytime for the GPS to lock !
If you had installed the Free WIMP (where is my phone) software, you would be able to track your phone yourself !
T-mobile wont track by cell as they are not a law enforcement agency, and the police don't care it's just another lost mobile to them !
you can still text. i used to have a blocked ameo, i didnt steal it myself, long story.. but anyway, it could still send and recieve texts and connect to the 3g/hsdpa networks. because as far as i know, only calls check your imei
rory
He's correct: you can still use GPRS/3G/HSDPA on a blocked handset. Blocking only prevents GSM functions such as texting and phone calls.
If someone has a data only SIM card (or perhaps buys one of the Hutchinson 3G pay as you go SIMs) then they will happily be able to use your Ameo as a portable web/GPS unit, and unfortunately there is no way that anyone will be caught for this, despite what the Network or the police might tell you.
On the subject, a TyTn 2 seems like a big monetary step-down from an Ameo, could they not order you one in?
Bugger! Someones got a nice cheap web tablet then!!
I had to have a phone quick or I'd lose work so I had little choice.. plus I was due an upgrade anyway on my tarrif in 3 weeks time so I was thinkin of upgrading to the new 16GB version - but they have no idea when it will arrive!! Ooh i noticed Orange do the Shift now - but I just bought an eeePC so dont really need that now... hmmm.. what to do?
I doubt T-Mobile will release the 16gb model as the AMEO didn't shift too well and I think their bods will deem its updates insufficient to create enough market appeal.
The Shift is a shot in the dark and is VERY expensive considering that you'll be paying not much less than the SIM-FREE price for an 18 month contract AND you'll probably need a second phone most of the time. Also, owing to its HSDPA and integrated windows the likelihood of you going over your 3gb allowance and being charged by the megabyte is very high. At least on T-Mobile you'll only get a letter after 3 months of abusing - in fact I've been over my Web N Walk Plus allowance pretty much every month this year and I've not even received a telling-off letter!
I would say that waiting for the Touch Diamond, selling it and buying an x7510 which would mean about a 250 pound supplement, would be the best idea OR send your Vario 3 back and they'll offer you a reduced-rate contract instead of a handset then simply buy a Shift or an x7510 by your own means...
Sad to say, but I'm pretty sure whoever got your lost Ameo is reading this now. :C
---
Yea they probably are!
I have to say I am getting quite attached to the Vario3 apart from the screen - not sure what to do now I have the eeePC as would I use the Ameo much? Blimey what to do!

If you've got an EEE stick with that and the Vario 3 and use the Vario for your internet connection. It'll actually be better than the Shift connection-wise as (as far as I'm aware) the Shift doesn't support HSUPA, only HSDPA.
There's an extended life battery for the EEE which I'm looking to get as it should extend its life to over five hours: the Shift, with its naff battery life is nothing compared to a light, solid EEE combined with a Vario 3. Sounds like you might be best to stick with what you've got.
Currently I'm balancing an EEE, an HTC Universal an a Nokia N95. It's not exactly convergence but holistically I've got the best of all worlds!
There's a bit of an argument going on at the mo as I am one of the unlucky eee900 owners who have the 4400mAh battery! Over at the eeeuser.com forums we are trying to get evidence of crap batteries so I cant talk to Taiwan again on tuesday/wednesday...
But i think you might be right - I might stick with the vario and the eee for the time being.
WOW I cant even imagine how you feel I have also installed WIMP and it works very well for lost or stolen phones. You may want to think about it for your future WM6 phones...TJ

An even better option is spb sprite terminator. It lets you lock the phone, change password, erase your sensitive files, find out who his friends are (hopefully you can get to him via his friend), among some useful features.

Help getting unlock code?

Hi all,
I made a rookie mistake and ordered a locked T-Mobile HD2 from ebay (wasn't paying attention).
I live in Canada, so unfortunately that rules out the option of trying to get an unlock code from T-Mobile. Can anybody guide me towards the cheapest option to getting this phone unlocked? I should be receiving it early next week... I can't believe I just blew almost $400 on a phone without noticing that it's locked
Thanks in advance,
Faruk
Means you also won't get 3G on Rogers either...but I digress, http://www.htcsimunlock.com is where I got mine. 16USD and about 20 minutes later my Tmo Leo is unlocked. Easy to use, just insert the new SIM or hit up \Windows\simlock.exe and enter your code.
Hey thanks for the reply man! I was actually starting to get pretty worried, I did some searching beforehand and all I could find were people who were having trouble unlocking theirs!
And I'm actually on Wind Mobile (not Rogers), so the T-Mobile version (1700MHz 3G) was actually exactly what I was looking for.
Nice! Let me know how that works out, i've got a friend in Canada on Wind aswell who is super jealous of my HD2, and if it works as expected, then he might be getting a pretty sweet Christmas present....

I would not be too quick in getting him it for Wind. They may not be around much longer.. time will tell..
Don't listen to Rockjock, I know him from another forum... His part- (or full?) time job is to scare people about Wind... He must be employed by Rogers.
Anyway, if Wind (new entrant) does lose against the incumbents, they will probably get bought out by Rogers. It's not like the network will vanish into thin air.
But anyway, that's totally off-topic. Go find another thread to troll, "Rockjock".

I was just stating a fact. So please take off your wind cape and discuss it. The OP was asking about using a high end handset on Wind. All I said was perhaps they should wait to see if Wind stays afloat. You are right Wind could be bought up and the network would not go to waste but you failed to mention that all the equipment is owned by Orascom and as such they are simply permitted to take back all the roof top units. The spectrum debt is what Rogers could buy from Orascom. Speaking of which any validity to the comment that calls are being routed to Egypt for customer service issues? Seems that Orascom is taking a more active role..
Also i must say the " he must work for rogers " line is getting a tad tired.
sorry for the hijack but I think it was needed to be explained. if not Mods pls delete.

I agree. Even if they end up filing for Bankruptcy (is that a business option in Canada?), their hardware and towers will remain, meaning that someone will own them and use them rather than tear them down.
We've seen a lot of wireless companies come and go down in the States and I have yet to speak to a single person who lost their service as a result. My friend in Arkansas has actually been shunted around by the AT&T->Cingular->att circle several times and never lost service.

Thats true, but thats only if the company that goes under owns the equipment they do not. Simply put Rogers could only buy the debt, as the equipment is owned by the only Investor. So once the equipment is taken back Wind could enjoy seamless coast to coast coverage on a 2g network.
Anyway, back to topic.
Yesterday I unlocked my T-Mobile HD2 at unlock-now.com. The phone is new one, IMEI starts from 35777. I took 10 minutes and 17.5 euros by Paypal.
I'm not linked to this service at all, just want to inform it's worked for me. Going to try htcsimunlock.com a bit later.
Uh, I have made the same mistake.
Did not realize that there was a difference until now
Does this mean that I will not get 3G, as I live in Europe?
Yes it does. You have to use the device meant for your region in order to get 3G with it.

UK Users Thread

Figured it would be nice for all us Brits to have a thread discussing how the U11 is on UK networks.
EE - VoLTE and WIFI Calling work out of the box on unlocked model from Very.co.uk
got mine from Carphone Warehouse on an EE contract and although unlocked it did have WiFI calling enabled, although in theory , this should not be the case as its not EE branded. Not complaining though I do not know how VoLTE works so i don't know how to check it. Might be the case that all unlocked UK CID models can support wifi calling, regardless of carrier branding. So nordic or others might not be able to do that.
Only gripe , and I have created a separate thread for that, is that Galileo support is not enabled on my phone which is strange and kinda stupid.

Ring someone (or 150). If your phone stays on 4g you have VoLTE.

Hmmmm I probably would. Better everything apart from audio volume from headphones.
The only concern is the durability and smashing if I manage to drop it especially after coming from the HTC 1 0 all metal. I'll see how the Oneplus 5 does as that is also very tempting.
I have a u11 coming from O2 but unlocked. I use it with EE but I can't find a way to have 4g calling and Wi-Fi calling.
Someone could help?
Sounds like it probably has O2 firmware on it which means you're SOL for the time being until S-OFF arrives.
My device is unlocked unbranded stock firmware and 4g VoLTE calling and WiFi calling worked from day one. The phone actually asked if I wished to enable them.
Do you have the option in settings for WiFi calling (4g calling is in phone settings).
I'm on O2. You have to request it through the O2 app. Scroll down to 'Device details' and you will see Wifi and 4G calling. Click on it and it will send a request to O2, takes 24 hours.

That's what I did as my 10 still in contract with Vodafone for a year more but I really wanted an upgraded. Loving the u11 so far it has fixed the issues I had with my 10 like bad wifi/mobile signal problems with Bluetooth to my car system (weird micro cuts every so often)
The first device I got was faulty rebooted/shut down all the time couldn't even get through the setup wizard, got a refund and ordered a new one that is now working great.
Do wish Vodafone would enable WiFi and 4G calling but heck knows when/if that will happen unless you have a business account which I believe have it.
Edit: Seems vodafone does have this option now, can be enabled from your account it seems.

Has anyone in the UK single sim received the Oreo update yet?
I am with EE , CID EVE__001 and still on Nougat 7.1.1 and firmware 1.27.91.10 with security patch October.

The Oreo update was released today. Currently having trouble updating mine, it downloads the update but then reboots into TWRP recovery then can't go any futher.
You have to return to stock before updating via OTA, with stock firmware, no root etc.
Bootloader can stay unlocked though.

I'm on O2. You have to request it through the O2 app. Scroll down to 'Device details' and you will see Wifi and 4G calling. Click on it and it will send a request to O2, takes 24 hours.

Did this actually work? o2 say that the only compatible devices are iPhone's, Samsung's and some Sony's.

I have a u11 coming from O2 but unlocked. I use it with EE but I can't find a way to have 4g calling and Wi-Fi calling.
Someone could help?

Did you ever get this to work?
I'm happy with the phone apart from 2 issues:
- Still on the November security patch, and considering it's nearly March I don't think this is acceptable. America has December.
- Google Assistant does not work. Voice activation does not work and all the settings are greyed out. Have looked online and cannot find a fix. Have read even a restore won't fix it!
If these issues were addressed then this would be the best phone I've had.
Just to add to this. I have an unlocked / unbranded u11 from CPW UK. O2 sim pay monthly account. I've enabled the option in the app as above but still no toggles etc in my settings menu. I called htc UK just now and they said that a bug in the oreo update has removed this option, it's a known bug and the next update will address it... Seriously? Also no idea when the update will roll out...
Had mine since January after an unplanned upgrade and I'm really glad my HTC 10 got mullered by my friend's kid. Carphone Warehouse piled on extras and I eventually started pushing back to stop the freebies getting out of hand - had to move to EE from Vodafone for some reason I can't remember - not an issue. Rooted while on the wine 2 nights later so as to increase the suspense and the chance of bricking it - I went at it half cut basically and nearly trashed it, which is so much fun.
Can't grumble in Manchester city about signal or service although EE has a website that suggests they are delaying any move into the post 90's era and I'm sure they have a reason we'll one day marvel at when they suddenly replace a web presence so **** it must be deliberate digital art or summat - like Tracey Emin and Banksy making a collaborative statement about Google ruining everything - that is to be replaced by the tech from the movie War Games to make it more modern. At least the customer service is accessible if needed and don't annoy me with 'suggestions' like an app. that tells me things I know already but in a different way which makes it exciting and utterly essential.
The u11 is a top phone and if someone gave me a Samsung I'd curse the fool who did so. There's a list of superior spec's that the recent Samsung phones possess and yet on benchmark tests they mostly squeeze into a slight lead and can't manage to avoid being made by Samsung which means that it has lots of stuff but none of it is connected right and it will eventually make you feel angry because it slowly reveals its nature as a piece of crap with buttons like a phone.
I just wish HTC would explore an alternative to the Android system because Google are getting a bit shifty and I don't like the way they are more powerful than God but get all hissy with developers - they come at you like an all-powerful bastard when they're pissed but always do a great job of being really rubbish at maintaining a standpoint and eventually they go away - still, Stalin was bit annoying and no one would have thought he'd end up killing 10 million people before the War even started but he had the tools and then the bad mood - if Google don't do evil it's only cos they haven't seen the projections from Wall Street that show the profit they can make. If any company can shake Google surely HTC can - Samsung may do so but totally unintentionally and probably due to the distraction caused by phones that set aflame like a crappy transformer that is a phone AND a firework - then neither.
