Screen Brightness - JasJam ROM is not using it fully - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi
I am using the JasJam WWE ROM. The screen is bright but not fully. When I switch to camera, for 1/2 a second the screen is fully iluminated and very bright. Than I lose it again. Does it happen with other ROMs? Can this be changed to get a full ilumination? I live in a very sunny country and it is sometimes really annoying.

I noticed this on the HTC ROM...i am running the imate ROM now and the same thing. I figured it was that if you ran with the screen on UBER bright like on camera you may drain the battery BIG TIME.

You can try Vijay's VJLumosII:
http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJLumosII
Most probably it will work on TyTN too, but I haven't tried it.

Well this software actually works but I have to start it manually every time. It makes no sense. Therefore I added it to the Startup folder but that is not good as it is not letting the camera to start saying that "camera is already running". Any idea?

In VJLumosII web page:
Use -off to disable it (eg before starting the camera)
Click to collapse
And I think you don't need to place it in startup manually, also from the webpage:
VJLumos II can install a notifcation event, so that every time you switch on the Phone, you will automatically get SuperBrite.
Click to collapse

VJLumos II was written for the Magician, for which it works great.
It has been tested on the Universal, but briefly, and it superbrites the screen, but unfortunately you can only do it once (I think).
It does, kinda, work on the Hermes, will make the screen brighter (so I hear). However, the Hermes has the same problem, and I haven't had a chance to fix it, because I never used the Universal long term, and don't have Hermes, sniff.
But I'll fix it. Even-shwally.

Dears
I’m suffering from the same problem with my i-mate JasJam,
The screen is not bright enough.
I check the VJLumos II solution and it works fine, except the OFF button that does not response on my devise
And due to that I have to SR the device in order to use the camera.
However it is the only solution that I have at this moment.
More ideas ?
Maybe someone have a “secret” and smart CAB file that can fix this issue ones and for all (-:
Thanks everybody
Ori

vijay, this sounds like a challenge for you... I guess that what we need is a full brihtness mode without harming the camera. Sorry, mate but I can't give you my own Hermes as I live far a way.

ideas ?
someone ?

nobody have this problem that the screen is not bright enough ???

Guys, I've released VJLumos III for the Hermes, in the development and hacking thread.
Early release, but I've been using it all day and works fine.
MUCH brighter!

Very interesting to say the least!
Enjoy!

Thanks Dr P this is a great improvment on the current X-button Thanks for the Great find and sharing!!!
Thanks!Work great on my TYTN with ITA ROM!!!
Try pbar
More features, very low memory, a worth replacement (and you can turn on BT/Wifi with it)
thanks for posting this. it sure looks a lot nicer and seems a bit more responsive than version 1.51, but uses a lot more memory, I'm down almost 2MB after installing. anyone else experience this?
I've been using this for a week now (got it from "It's Right - TNT") with no issues and is an improvement over 1.5x
Can't click the top bar battery icon unless I tap and hold and programs in the exclusion list seem to open up slow, other than that it's nice .
Thanks Dr Puttingham,
it's working great on a Sprint Mogul as well, no issues I've seen yet.
It's nice having the couple of extras on the drop down menu.
Thanks Again

thanks very much, got same features as O2 plus, but that wasn't very stable I think. Nice update.

Yes indeed, we owe all thanks to It's Right for this. I was testing a ROM in August for another cook (not It's Right) that had it cooked in. To protect sources I couldn't speak of it..... but now that's history!
Kudo's to It's Right!
Great improvement....thanks
Thanks! Works great on my AT&T 8525.
No problems - also fixed SPB font colour issue!
I've put this upgrade on my Jasjam with official Dopod 838pro WM6. Very stable, and I no longer have to hide the Today screen button due to SPB Diary font colour problem (previous version would make fonts all black). Well done!
workink great
tnx
Can this be using with WM5?
and still it can't show any of the pocket outlook application icons.
hummm...for some reason it will not install on my Tytn II. i'm sure it's related to some security policy; i've modified the usual policies but no luck. any suggestions would be appreciated.
UPDATE: Redownloaded cab file 3 times until i got one that wasn't corrupted. all is working now!
so.... anyone know how to map "close" to a hard button? Or even map that little X-Button dropdown to a hard button? I've searched around and haven't found anything useful so far...

Shift screen brightness 'Auto' setting - yours work?

As per the title, does the screen brightness 'Auto' setting and the light sensor actually do anything? Seems to make no difference on mine....

Hi,
yes it did, but I switched it off, cause it was too nervous. Brightness changed all the time when lonely clouds were passing, or the the cloudy thumb cast a shadow.
S.
Yes it works!:
Use Shagctrl to lower brightness and then switch it on. The brightness level you chose will be the minimum level.
If you cover the sensor in the top right-hand corner, the screen will dimm. When you aim you flashlight on it, it will brighten.
(at least... mine does...)
However, I don't use it, because my hand will frequently get in the way when I use the touchscreen and then my screen brightens suddenly... Verry anoying.

Hi,
this is a different question, but I didn't want to open another thread.
Who can confirm this?
Vista is running in the "background". Your are in WM, but have shut-down WM. So dark screen. But then exactly when Vista goes into standby (green light starts to blink) the WM screen comes to live.
Is that strange? Or just always the case?
Thanks!
S.

Hi Pantaloonie,
this looks like capital punishment for me, so sorry! Next question from several feet under.
Let me explain:
I am rather a newbie using forums like this, means the does and do nots are not always clear. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!
My thoughts were 1. the point was answered and 2. there are so many items on the site that it is not necessary to always start a new thread for every minor problem.
Wrong thinking?
Please, I really do not know, can you clarify? Do you really start a new thread for everything?
Thanks!
S.
Heh, I was just having a bit of fun, you did nothing wrong. Some forums can be very strict about keeping threads on topic, but we are pretty relaxed here.
The advantage of starting a new thread is that more people will see it, you're more likely to get an answer.

Rotation issue

Hello everyone, my name is Nick and this is my first post in this great forum. I have been using the TD2 for some months now and i think it's a really great phone!
The only problem i've come across so far is that the G-Sensor rotates the screen in some applications i'd rather see horizontal like the phone dialer and the Sim Toolkit service. It's really annoying to see the screen rotating when i am talking on the phone because it messes up the screen too!
I've tried many programs like Gyrator 2 or G config but none of them seem to do what i want. I don't want to disable the G sensor of the phone cause it's really useful when browsing or writing messages.
Any ideas of how to solve this? Thanks in advance!
I use Gyrator and disabled everything i don't wan't to be turned, works perfect!
It looks like you didn't set-up Gyrator properly, read the manual carefuly.

When you look in Gyrator Events you will see this list:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Make sure that everyting that you don't wan't to rotate is listed above Rotate.
You can add new events (click and hold on a blanck section) and put them higher in the list by click and hold them and chose Promote.
If you don't know wat you should enter in a event for a non-rotating event just look, by editing (click and hold and chose edit) in a excisting Disable(***) event, i did to.
Good luck!
I tried that too but i just keeps rotating when i turn the device.
I created a new event and checked "Orientation", i named it "Disable (Dialer)" and promoted it above "Rotate". Then i edited it like that: Application=Phone, Orientation=Portrait (or landscape, i tried everything on the list), Actions=Rotate Screen (or nothing checked, i tried both) but it still doesn't work. I even tried disabling the HTC dialer and using the WM one but nothing changed. I'm starting to believe it's haunted!

Phone Keypad Disappears!

What can I do to fix this? Restarting the phone always fixes it (although that's not really a "solution" per se), sometimes restarting the phone app fixes it. Sometimes the keypad is there, but is up and to the right (off the edge of the screen, covering the leftmost side of the list of calls).
i think i had the same problem. try changing to landscape and back to normal.

My phone dialer doesn't rotate...
Yes, annoying this. I got the problem the other day then things went back to normal after a soft boot. I am aware that rotating the app does fix the problem (until the next time) but have never tried it.
To get your phone app to rotate, install BSB Tweaks. Once done select the phone app as an item to be rotated which should give you what you are looking for.

Thanks, this fixed it!
Wondering if there's been a better solution uncovered to this than "rotate the phone". That's not very fluid since the phone tends to rotate/unrotate in call and the keypad disappears again, making using menu options in voicemail (for example) much more of a pain than it needs to be.
Don't even understand how this is a problem, given that my TP2 had the same dialler and had no problems...
Bump ...
No chance for a response here...?

BTW, the dialpad issue has been fixed for at least two months now - there's a dll or a cab floating around somewhere

Still hoping for a reply...
Try overwriting the dll posted by fards with total commander or resco. Using wm 6.5 myself so haven.t tested.

Auto unlock on receiving call using BT headset

Gents,
Here is a little thing bothering me.
I use a BT headset most of the time, keeping the phone in a pocket/backpack while playing music.
The thing is that when receiving a call and answering it using the BT Headset buttons, the phone still wakes up and unlocks itself. Meaning that the device is now accessible by the touch panel but in my pocket/backpack thus messing with it.
Is there way to prevent that ?
So when answering to a call from a BT headset the device remains locked.
Thanks for any help on that.
David.
Anybody with that same problem ?
David on HD2
Hi there David,
I have had the same issue with my HTC HD2 for the past 6 months since I bought the phone and have not seen anyone come up with a resolution for this!
Even the Iphone handles this simple problem better.
I cannot understand how they can release a fantastic phone like the HTC HD2 that can just about replace a computer but can not do the simple job of not unlocking the handset when controlled with a bluetooth device.
I can only hope that there is a programmer out there that could tweek the registry to solve out problem.
Thanks Ace
Exactly. I feel the same way too. But just have to live with it I guess, just leave it and wait for the auto lock to kick in again
So I guess it is a wellknow problem with no solution or work around... at least we know.
Not pleasant to live with... having to stop on the side of the road because a call kick in while riding in the hot tropical summer.
David BT HD2 ironhorsing in Taiwan.
there is a solution, it's called s2u2. It has settings to set it to lock on call when using BT.
http://www.ac-s2.com/
you want the wvga version.
Finaly hope arise... I am trying it right away.
Thank you very much for that.
Confirmed! It works!
Thank you very much nrfitchett4 .
And it gives some more life to the standby/locked screen.
Although one might want to change the default wallpapers...
The only little inconvenience of this app is that you have to re-start it after a soft reset. But it is worth it.

what do you mean?
You shouldn't have to restart it after reset, just lock your phone. You can set it to lock on screen off, or screen on, or manually.
nrfitchett4 you are right... my bad... Sorry for the misunderstanding.
The app is still working after a reset.

very good. Seems to be the only lockscreen that doesn't cause occ. lockups on energy roms.
Cant confirm that.
I use the original ROM from HTC that came with the device.
