T-Mobile USA Users, How do you like it?????

For all those T-Mobile users, I am in Souther Cali and have been thinking about getting one of these. Can anyone let me know what they think about it??
Sound Quality
Signal Strength
Data Connection speed ( I know it's not EDGE)
Any other info.
Thanks
I had the PDA2K but got rid of it because I was thinking about getting the ETen G500 but wanted to check this out first since it is actually available from T-Mobile.
why not edge?
I thought t-mobile had finished the rollout of its edge network?
 :?:
I swap between my tmo and cingular sim all the time.
both have edge...and the speeds are identical for me.
only problem i have is that i cant get to google.com from my home calling are (texas), but was able to get to google.com fine when i was in tampa, fl for vacation. very strange!
i called tmobile about it, and they said it's a problem with some of their mda users (i have the the imate kjam version). they were suppossed to have their engineers look into it and call me back, but i haven't heard back from them in over a week. I am able to setup my gmail account in outlook and pull mail down fine. and i have no problems accessing google from a wifi connection and an active sync connection.
other than that, tmobile is good. I can access google on my cingular sim, though. If i were you i'd try the 15 day (or whatever it is) trial period, and go from there.
so long as you run the rom upgrades you'll be fine....i'm in Los Angeles and pleased.

Have a look at the comment from T-Mobile in this article. They have been trying to fix this for quite some time now.

please HELP! XDA EXEC service line problem.

I am a Cingular user, I was using Cingular for a long time and it worked fine for me. However, after this May, I found some problem by connecting Cingular service. On that time, I was using MDA II, at first I thought my PDA was broken so that I can't get the signal from Cingular and I bought a XDA EXEC from England.
However, problem still there. It is still so hard for me to get Cingular service. I have tried to put my SIM card to cingular phone, and it shows the connection well, at least 3 bars. Once I put it back to my XDA, the connection is very weak or most of the time, it doesn't work.
I wonder if anyone of you have the same problem with me? I have check that this XDA is an unlock phone and it works fine with other service, but not Cingular. I have no idea about what Cingular has done.
Please help, any solutions would be appretiate!

The signal is weak because the device does not support the most widely used frequency band among Cingular cell towers in the United States (850 MHz). You will find that as you travel into busier areas/cities/neighborhoods, it will significantly increase
Do you have any suggestion about what kind of service is better? I am considering T-Mobile, is it good?

It is very likely that T-Mobile will work better in your area. I, myself don't get such great service with Cingular at my home because I live in the suburbs. Anywhere else I go, my signal seems to be fine though.

wifi on UK T-Mobile MDA Vario II disabled?

Hello,
Can anyone confirm if T-Mobile in UK are idsabling wifi on teh newly launched MDA Vario II?
I am also interested in unlocking the device. Again, anyone have experience of this and if so, what software or which supplier?
Thanks
Richardracer
mu mda vario II works fine with wifi. also you can unlock the phone but not for free at the moment. you have to use imi-check for that.
What makes you think it is disabled?
My MDA2 bought 3 weeks ago is fine with wifi..
Works at home using (g) and also managed to connect using a free connection at Waterloo the otherday (Window poped up while I was surfing using HSDPA..) so thought I would give it a go. worked fine.
My MDA Vario II works fine on wifi and I have also unlocked it too so I could use my Vodafone sim in it (had to pay £20 though as needed to use my Voda sim straight away and couldn't wait until somebody worked out how to unlock it for free)
Thanks
Thanks to all who replied, I will be placing my order today.

Cingular (US) on Universal?

I was wondering if anyone has tried the Universal in the US on Cingular? I just bought an unlocked one for $440 I have an 8525. I know it wont use the 3g like my 8525, but I was wondering if it still will be somewhat OK? Also is it possible for me to use my 8525 to give wireless connection to my universal? I think I could live with that.
I currently havae an Orange M5000 on cingular right now. It works fine.

How did you get all the sms mms Internet settings on? Also how are your Gprs speeds?
I don't have Cingular, but www.wireless.att.com is where I would start, and after about 3 minutes, I found this:
http://www.wireless.att.com/businesssupport/deviceConfig.do?content=KB71266.html
It had pictures and everything. Here's the deal: It says it is for an 8525, but a Windows Mobile phone is a Windows Mobile phone. The procedure is the same.
HTH,
Jeff
did basically what the last guy said. I used an hp from the support page and to setup the gprs. it was easy and it works great. i also use the internet sharing to connect it to my laptop and its pretty quick.

GPRS settings for O2 UK

Hi,
I recently obtained an HTC Hermes (MDA Vario II) which I am using with a contract O2 UK SIM card. It's working fine for voice and SMS and the WiFi data connectivity is also OK but I can't connect to O2 GPRS because I don't have the right settings for WAP.
O2 won't give them to me as I'm supposed to get them by running the "get settings" program flashed onto the device, obviously I have the wrong version as the device was originally sold by T-mobile.
If anyone's got working settings for network connectivity and MMS on O2 UK I would be most grateful if you could post them.
Cheers.

The O2 Payg settings are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1286112
The rest I can post later if needs be, but they are reasonably easily Googled.
Mike
Here is a cab file I use for O2 uk settings, it can be set up for PAYG or monthly contract.
@BOZ
That's just too easy, in my day you'd have to fetch out a stack of punch cards - nowadays it's a cab file for this an exe for that! What's the world coming to!
Mike
Hi Mike, using the cab file instead of inputting by hand means I save enough time to make a nice mug of tea!

I will stick to the mug of tea, my other half thinks I am super glued to my pc, at least a cuppa keeps her sweet, especially as I am pulling that new Russian rom apart.
