O2 XDA in German - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

Hi,
I just bought a new O2 XDA phone, just to find out the manual and support for the phone are all in German!! The windows mobile 5 in the phone was in English though (which makes be puzzled about the possibility of being already used some how!?! ) I am looking for some support and manuals for this phone. I know the clubimate website would require a serial number of an i-mate device. Could some one lead me to where I could find English support for the phone *it is equivalent to i-mate JAMin as I understand).
Thanks.

Have you had a look to the Dopod and HTC Homepage ?

no not yet. what is thier home page please?
thanx

flash mda with xda rom

hi guys,
i have a rather simple question but - due to my limited technical understanding - havent been able to find a simple answer on this forum ;-)
i have a t-mobile mda which i am running with a O2 sim. Now the software that came with it does not offer a key function which i would like to have, being an O2 user: the indicator that shows me if i am in my O2 home zone or not. the latest o2 software update adds that functionality, but i am not sure if i can install it on my mda.
is there a reasonable safe & simple way to flash my mda with the new xda rom?
would it be a good idea just to run the special edition rom exe-file?
thanks for answering newbie questions!!!
woody
i forgot to mention: my location is germany..guess this matters
OK, special edition works fine
No O2 genion home zone indicator either however. Is it save to flash to the mda with the latest original xda rom (3.19.01)...cause this would be my next step
thanks,
woody

MDA IV on Ebay: translation from German please ?

my quesitons :
is the OS in German ? is it sim locked ? anything looking suspicious before buying it ?? (any problem to put a belgian sim card in it ? is it in english or will i be restrained to anything in german if i buy this ?)
Thank you.
Try to translate it by urself, this would be better,I guess...
http://www.worldlingo.com/
RAGO
well, i doubt a robot translation would be better than a human tarnslation...
aynway, i got the main point of the auction.
But my questions are :
is the OS in German ? anything looking suspicious before buying it ?? (any problem to put a belgian sim card in it ? is it in english or will i be restrained to anything in german if i buy this ?)
also, anyone know when will this be available with an AZERTY keyboard ??

Yes - the OS is in German - it's being sold by a German, to Germans, with text in German and it clearly states that the manual is in German and that everything else is in German.
Any GSM or UMTS/GSM sim card should work in it - no reason not to.
ok, thank you.
ATTENTION !!! ALL MDA PRO HAVE NET LOCK !!!!!!
At this point u can buy a code to set it free (99,-) but this code doesn´t work ... the Hotline says its a known problem and MAYBE its solved within 2 weeks !!!

Converting an MDA Compact to XDA Mini

Hi folks,
A friend of mine is buying my old T-Mobile MDA Compact off me, he's on O2 PAYG and I'm looking to convert the phone to be as much like the O2 XDA equivelant as posible to avoid network issues.
Firstly, What is the O2 XDA equivelant of the MDA Compact officially known as? I've heard it's the XDA mini, but not sure.
1. Can I install/use an O2 XDA mini ROM (or updated one) to setup the phone for use on O2? I'm assuming the ROM is the only software differance between an XDA mini and MDA Compact.
2. Will this also change the radio stack, allowing the phone to accept an O2 sim card or will i need to apply a seperate unclock tool?
Where can I find O2 XDA mini ROMs? and if needed an unlock tool?
I'm hoping its as simple as just installing an O2 ROM but I'm preparing myself for the worst.
Any help and advice gratly appreciated,
Mike
Simple thing to do it just to SIM unlock your phone. If you can't figure out how to set up the stuff like GPRS internet connection, etc, you can get the EXT ROM from the O2 Xda mini and install it manually. For your case, if using the phone on O2 is the thing you want, I won't recommend you to do a flash.
And don't double post
Hi, thanks for replying.

- do a search
- do a search
- I mean, if you can't even find the sim unlock software, don't flash your phone, you will likely to brick it.
How about using the XDA-Wiki in the top brown bar?

SPB GPRS Monitor not working

I am using SPB GPRS monitor http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/gprsmonitor/?en to monitor my data connection however it seems it does not monitor the connection at all. Is anybody else using it succesfully or can you recommend one that works with the herald?
Well it's on my CD with my Herald, maybe it's a special version?
You should try the version that was shipped with your device. Official GPRS Monitor didn't work with my Herald either.
how stupid of me, i didnt realise it was even on the cd! will give it a go now...
tried that, works perfectly. Thanks
SPB GPRS Monitor not working on P4350
Hi,I just saw this thread. Bought a P4350 (Vodafone) last Saturday but CD does not contain SPB GPRS Monitor. I have a license for the standard version which I bought a few years ago for an iPaq. It doesn't work, as mentioned above. Vodafone nor HTC can help me, although Vodafone's user manual states: "Install it from the CD"....
Does anyone know how to get this special version?..
Thanks!
Raymond

With permission from one of the mods i can upload here for you if you like?
SPB GPRS Monitor on HTC P4350
s4vva, I would very much appreciate that!
I hope the mod(s) will allow it. Here's why I'm convinced I'd be using it legally:
1. I contacted the Vodafone Citypoint (shop) where I bought the unit. They agree with me (it's in the manual etc.). They guess it's an unintentional omission and they don't have it.
2. I contacted data support at Vodafone NL (my mobtelco). They said that SPB GPRS Monitor should be on the CD but "somehow it isn't" and they don't have it so they can't send it.
3. As said before, I legally purchased a (version 2) license for an iPaq that I no longer use (3870 with GPRS sleeve) a few years ago. As mentioned elsewhere that version doesn't work on the P4350.
I guess uploading/posting would not be legal since not everyone (-member) would be entitled to use it, maybe you could send to my email (alias) rdf1<at>wxs.nl.
Thanks again for your willingness to help!

SPB GPRS Monitor has never really worked properly for me on my HTC P3300 so i use this instead - LINK
It turns out that HTC's special version of Spb GPRS Monitor won't work or even install on Dutch Vodafone P4350's. Probably explains why it's not included...
BTW None of the other GPRS monitor utilities I've tried (looked all over the Internet) works on my Dutch Vodafone P4350. Guess I'll have to wait for ROM upgrade

Trinity=Dopod D810???

G'Day Crew,
First post, sorry for the newbie question.
I assume they are one in the same?
I am looking at getting the Dopod D810 from Optus (Australia) to replace my N73. I want to use the GPS side of things.
Will the Optus batch of D810's have the GPS chipset in them?
Am I able to update the rom to use the GPS?
Where can I purchase the correct version of TomTom to use with the Dopod D810? (if I cant get it I will probably not get the Dopod).
I look forward to your replies. Please help, I have tried the GSM forums and Whirlpool and so far no help has been forthcoming.
I do have the TomTom for Symbian S60 V3 though....................
Kind regards,
BIQ

First of all, the dopod 810 is the same as the P3600 or trinity, and therefor all operator version will have the GPS chipset. I don't know if it is allready activated if you buy the device, but the chip is there
Am I able to update the rom to use the GPS?

Yes, but you probably have to remove the CID lock, there are two ways to do this, both to be found on this forum

That version will not work on a WM2005 device I think, but since I don't have that version, I really don't know....
1) You might not need CID unlock if the version that is coming soon is already for your device.
(Stranger where are the two methods? I only saw one)
2) I am not sure I like "purchase" in quotes.
3) Symbian tomtom is COMPLETELY a different version and no S60 software will ever work on your future PocketPC. (ah... the effects of bringing telephony to PDA... you bring the whole mass of consumers that don't really know what PocketPC is all about)

isn't there a free unlocker on these forums now? since I used imei-check, I haven't read that post yet, but if that works, that would be method number 2
no it doesn't work yet
Sorry NLS about "purchase" have edited the post.
I have found the tomtom site very confusing. I am hoping to get the Dopod D810 from Optus tommorow. I am unsure what the operating system is and therefore not sure which version of tomtom to get.
I was hoping that someone with a trinity using tomtom could tell me which version of tomtom they are using. The Dopod 810 is not listed under the tomtom web site.
Any further help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
BIQ
The operating system is Windows Mobile 5, or you may find it (although older versions, still compatible) as PocketPC (2003/2003SE).
Also do much more research because a PocketPC phone is a phone but also 1000 more things than a phone (or even a smartphone). It will be a pity to miss this.
HTC P3600 (also known as Trinity/Dopod 810) is listed as compatible with TOMTOM ver. 6 :
http://www.tomtom.com/products/features.php?ID=260&Category=2&Lid=1
I'm using TomTom 6 PPC version on my HTC P3600, and it works great...
