WLAN and Power Management - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Good Morning all
firstly a big thankyou to everyone who contributes here, I couldnt couldnt count the number of times Ive found little fixes for those annoying "features" that HTC devices seem to have.
Anyway, one such problem I seem to be having is battery drain due to my WLAN refusing to switch off. The function is switched off in connection manager but is very much switched on as every time I pass an access point I get an annoying bubble asking me if I would like to connect.
I tracked the problem down to something changing the "DisablePowerManagement" registry key. When I changed the value back to 0 the WLAN was switched off after a reset, however within 3-4 hours it changed again which leads me to believe it is caused by software I have installed at some point.
I wondered if anyone could advise on similar issues and resolution and also, is there a way to disable the popup bubble when a new Access Point is found as it causes me a nightmare with TomTom.
Device and software details below

Bug / Problem List for the new PPC 2003 ROM

I just want to warn everyone the 2003 rom has many problem, since it is an internal development version. Here is the bugs I found right now.
1.Maybe it's not a "BUG". It miss the Wireless Modem which many people asked for a long time.
2.I tried Windows Media Player and Pocket Music 1.5, both can't turn off the display, which means you have to leave the display on when you listen the music. If any one can turn off the display , please tell us, may be I got some software conflicted.
3. 2 "Power" Logo on the setting menu, but the have different content. It looks like one is the new power setting tab, but it didn't provided some old fuction in the old power setting tab, so O2 kept the old one.
4. The SIM Contacts (Sim utility provided by PPC 2003) is horrible. It has NO fuction except copy the SIM card address to the phone.
5. YOU MUST NOT install Batterypack 2003 on the phone. It looks like working after you install, but your machine will never boot up after a soft-reset except hardreset the phone. (It is PPC 2003 / Battery Pack 2003 problem, not O2 / HTC's fault).
6. You will never know if the current signal support GPRS or not. It will not display the G logo in the "signal bubble".
Please add the list if you got any problem with the new rom.
If the bug I listed can't stop you install the new rom, go ahead  .
Moreover, it's not an official / final version rom, if you want stable rom, stay with XDA SE 1.1 rom.
Sorry for my horrible english~

No, it was added in the new ROMs by Qtek and O2. Whether it's a Microsoft or HTC tool I don't know, but it's definitely not ours...
XDA developer Peter Poelman,
didn't know that. i thought it was urs.
PPC 2003
Hi all
Only autentization to VPN over cetificates is good feature for me.
Another features :?
XDA-dev ROM 1.1 is best solution
It seems the "screen toggle" bug (can't switch off the screen probelm) can be fixed by install the PocketMusic 2.0 Bundle plus the 2.0_4_3 fix.
I can see a hotkey to turrn off display with 2.0 version.
Moreover, the "auto turn off display" fuction still works on the PocketMusic 1.5 Bundle version, and 2.0 too.
It's so strange the PocketMusic 2.0 works but WMP 9.0 doesn't work.
I'm happy with the PPC2003 now. If we have to wait to long beforce the official release, will XDA-Developer release an extra SE version based on the current version of PPC2003?
It still suffers fron some sms issues, i cant get a delivery receipt, and also the time sent stamp is actually the time received.
The auto config does not work, so as a result i can't get gprs working...
(Anyone know the settings for o2 uk ?)
All in all though a good upgrade !!
i loaded the 2003 rom and only have minor issues.
1. when connecting the network says voicestream instead of t-mobile.
2. connection seems slower even with the accelerator proxy turned on. the connection used to be as high as 40k according to spb gprs monitor. now i haven't seen it break 20k.
Unit no longer powers-on when placed in sync cradle; In order to sync the unit I now have to either (a) make sure unit is turned-on before placing it into cradle, or (b) place powered-off unit in cradle, then turn power on.
Not a major issue, but certainly a back-step in functionality. Anyone else notice this?
I'm using a TMobile XDA with updated ATT radio stack and PPC2003.
To Dondi :
I have your issue too, but I didn't think it is a problem for me, since I hate the machine suddenly power on itself when I am charging it.
i guess it s even better for the screen not to be lighted all the time when plugged on the cradle
Hey all. I just installed WM2003 PE. It looks and feels great. I only have the following comments:
I have installed the ROM on my Qtek 1010.
1. I can't seem to see any MIDI ringtone support on this one (probably because it's not a final release)
2. I'm still running on my old Radio Version 3.23 and my GPRS resumes connection seamlessly after calls - which is great.
3. I've read somewhere that applications will be visible on the 'taskbar' when running, but do not get this functionality also. No worries on this though, because 'Switch' works fine with WM2003.
4. Still no ability to add custom Operator Logos.
5. Hooray for the 'Busy' tone and indication!
SPB GPRS Monitor works fine with 2003. I also wanted to know from the rest of you guys: Do you have to manually initiate GPRS connectivity after a soft-reset? Or does it pick up your default connection and auto-connect?
To killercheung and Cyberb0b: You've given me a new perspective on the XDA not automatically switching on when placed in the cradle in the off state -- I appreciate the benefits you pointed out.
Also, I did notice that when I initially loaded the Ozone beta (prior to upgrading radio stack) the GPRS symbol was being displayed regularlyand I had no problem connecting with GPRS and getting decent performance (> 20 Kbps). However, after I convinced myself to "go all the way" and also perform the Radio Stack update, I now rarely see the GPRS symbol, and GPRS perfirmance has dropped to the 1Kbps level.
Now I wonder if Ozone also updated the radio (which I perhaps subsequently "downgraded" by loading the ATT RSU). Can anyone shed some light on this?
for what i ve seen Ozone does not modifiy the radio stack, you have to upgrade it yourself useing for exemple the O2 upgrade version 4.21.
As far as i m concern using GPRS in France with Orange as operator with SE 1.1 or with ozone i have the same brandwith capacity depending on the network trafic and my position, between 10 and 30 Kbps, i use SPB GPRS manager to monitor my connexion 24/7 and see what is my data consumption day by day (it also allow me to shut GPRS off without switching the phone off).
by now using ppc2003 for about a week, i have no gprs shut down, except going out of coverage area, we poor french are not full gprs anywhere, but it works pretty good in cities.
on thing i ve notices that i guess is significant :
however it is said that Gprs connexion isn t dropped any more when an incoming CSD call start, that is true but the transmissions are stopped.
I mean i can not send or recieve data while talking on the phone line. But this is not due to the software i guess it is due to the number of channels aviable on the device usually it s 4 + 1 or 4 + 2
whereas phones like SE P800 have 6 + 4 channels allowing the to really exchange data while using CSD channel.
But nevertheless it is a good upgrade cause i do not have to kill my irc session while talking on the phone (just have to hang up fast before the irc timesout ) ).

XDA2i Locks up fix

Has anyone experienced a regular lock up on the 02 XDA2i - if so I may have the fix.
The freeze on the xda2i happens after it has been running various programs, no one program was the root cause of the issue but when the program was ended the memory it was using should be freed up for other applications to use - but doesn't.
O2 will claim that 3rd party apps are causing this but in my opinion the cause is the 02 Active software which is installed after a hard resest where it allocates itself a memory address within the ROM.
SOLUTION:
1. Hard Reset after backing up
2. Choose Corporate User
3. Enter PIN 0506
This will install a corporate edition of Mobile 2003SE and will not include the 02 stuff.
Hope it helps - if anyone has any further bluetooth or tomtom problems I can probably help too.
ive not seen any lock ups on my xda2i at all runing tomtom and a bt headset
Are you using an 02 XDA though?
ThebigWomble,
Thans for the fix on freezing XDA 2i.
This id very useful.
I have two question if you would help me.
Tomtom 3 keeps loosing its favourites and recent locations.
How I can save them manually and reinstate them whenever they are lost.
Some it say no maps installed when in fact two maps are installed and on the Storage Card.
How I can unlock and unhide the extededROm on XDA 2i
Thanks for the help.
who me yes ive had no lockups at all really and i usually have ie and email running in the back ground and well as msn
I too have experienced the lockups on my XDA2i even with the corporate version of Mobile 2003SE installed. It seems to happen after I've used bluetooth (headset only) for a while. The only third party software I have installed at the moment is Resco Explorer.
i've removed the o2 interfaces and ****, but kept the task manager. mine regularly locks up, but usually when i go into the task manager and end the item called "programs" it the says something along the lines of "unhandled shell exception. attempting to reboot the shell." then it soft resets itself. not a major problem, just an anoyance.
yes, i've the same problem
my new xda2ii locks up very often
and during the blackout, i can receive incoming calls
during the blackout, if make a call to the xda2ii, it seems the line is free and ringing, but the pda stil remain off!!!
the only way to "get up" to the pda is reset it with the stylo
all other buttons are disabled
what can i do?
i've tried it also with installing the latest italian rom, and the problem is the same
so O2ACTIVE is not the cause of the problem, because the italian rom doesn't include that program/interface
NOW, i've tried to come back to O2ROM, without installing the O2 interface, using the trick of "corporate user"
i'll advise you about the results
any suggestion on resolving this problem?
I took the o2 active stuff off some time ago and lockups persist...
A
yes, i confirm
i resetted my pda today afternoon, and after 2 hours... i've got another pda lock
need manual reset to "wake up", missing 2 phone incoming calls
i think it's a serious problem
any other had success with this problem?
hello guys
any suggest?
the pda still blocks itself many times during a day, and i miss all the calls during that time
it's a terrible bug
any suggestion?
Thank you I hope it fixes my proggy freez bluetooth headset and gps issues. i did have a xda2s with same probs till yesterday i now have a xda2i same set of probs .. but now i dont have a sim unlock ...
lockups
i have done more soft starts on my xa2i then phone calls how do you install your software what order do you do it..?? please help.. ice
running tomtom with pretec data logger gps and hs200 b/t sony h/s.
the problem still persists
anyone has a solution please?
For those experiencing lockups please take a look at my Thread, its the phone that causes the lockup, trust me I have tested it to the absolute fullness.

opps sorry big womble have been busy for a while yes its an o2 xda2i
Ok here is how to turn off the phone, ive just done it without having a problem.
1) Start Tomtom with it communicating to the Bluetooth GPS and Phone is on.
2) Whilst tomtom is running turn on flightmode (turning off all Wireless and Phone)
3) Go back into Tomtom and it should have lost its connection to BT you will see it hasn't disabled the GPS though!
4) Turn on BT in the Bluetooth Settings in the settings menu of the XDA2i
5) XDA2i will then pop up a message saying turn off flight mode first, try to close that popup and it will take several seconds whilst it closes the popup.
6) Hey presto the delay was caused by the XDA2i trying to turn on Wirelss with out the Phone.
7) You now have just wirelss on and not the phone.
Let me know if this works for you, it has for me each time.
Cheers
Lee
tenx for your help
but i have the problem without tomtom installed too!!!
Xda2i locks up
It is one month since I bought. Sofar more than 20 hard resets. 100 soft resets. Why O2 is not coming out with fix.

Most annoying Universal Faults/Bugs --> Post Yours!

Here's mine
Model: MDA Pro
ROM/Radio/ExtRom: 1.12.42WWE | 1.00.02 | 1.12.126WWE
Design Flaws
No external display. Many cheapie prepay phones have this, why didn't the universal get one?
Usability Issues
When closed and Off, phone does not actually ring until 3rd ring. Leaving just 3 rings to answer it. Most calls hence go to voicemail due to not enough time left to answer.
When closed, and someone rings, the external start/end call buttons dont light up so I cant see which one is green(answer call) and which one is red(end call). 50% of the time I press the wrong one sending the caller to voicemail!
No simple, built in way to close rather than 'minimise' applications
Built in contacts app and calendar still unusable. MS: please just give up and buy Web IS !!
Software Bugs
Sometimes 2 of the wifi icons dissapear from the 'connections' tab under settings requiring a soft reset.
Wifi often fails to connect, needs switching off and then back on again, then it sees AP.
Loses the mobile network signal occasionally, for no reason (i.e even in 4 bar signal areas)
I'll add more as I remember them. But HTC/MS are getting better, the hardware and initial ROMs of the MDA Pro are worlds ahead of those on my XDA IIs (which was totally unusable initially).
Having a low battery means that device switches on every 5 mins to tell you about the low battery thus causing lower battery. Tell me once and then goto sleep! Or tell me once for 10%, once for 5% etc
If software causes the unit to switch on (in order to issue a notification) the same software should switch it off again after, i.e dont wait for the default 'not being used' timeout.

Grrrrr
Ok .. I have an M5000 on orange, I have owned it for almost a week. My Rom/Radio gubbins are whatever Orange lock it at. My biggest complaints are:
1) Service Plans - There doesn’t seem to be a network in the UK that offers a service plan (more data, less voice) suited for the device. A trick was missed here I think!
2) My manual talks of GPRS counters and graphs.. My phone does not have any such features. All the more relevant given my 1st point and that the price per MB is horrendous on most networks.
3) Tolerance - My unit needs a reset at least twice a day. Sometimes because it can’t find GPRS coverage, sometimes coz it’s just slow. Back in the day when i purchased my 1st IPAQ I had to reset that a few times a day. I have been off in UIQ land for the past few years and I am surprised that this far into product evolution you die hard windows mobile/PPC fans have been putting up with the same crap for years. You are perfect customers and a tolerant bunch ;-).
4) Incoming call delay – I read that this is fixed in later roms. I tried to install a JASJAR rom and failed. My phone is locked. Blastit !
5) Windows Mobile Media Player 10 – a pointless piece of software, how do I delete it
6) Speed – In between reboots my unit is inconsistently slow. I have tried all of the points suggested in this forum aside from the rom updates (I cant do that).
7) Email – The email client is dire. I use IMAPS and SSL SMTP. Everything is find on mail accounts with low numbers of messages in ( < 100 ). The wheels fall off very quickly if you ask the client to download mail from a mbox with a few thousand messages in and lots of folders. So far I have lots a mail account twice and left it saying “updating folders” for 3 hours while connected via wifi.
8) Email Again – Like I said .. I use IMAPS and SSL SMTP. I use self signed certs. The 1st time I created my mail accounts and connected the unit asked me if I wanted to proceed with the self signed cert shenanigans. After that I was not asked. When I look for the certs in the certificates app they are not there. Where are they?
>1) Service Plans - There doesn’t seem to be a network in the UK that offers a service plan (more data, less voice) suited for the device. A trick was missed here I think!
Agreed, t-mobile with web-n-walk are the closest, but poor 3G coverage and no possibility to upgrade bundled data from 40MB (other than £1/MB Pay-as-you-go) + unused data not carried over to next month are the main issues.
>2) My manual talks of GPRS counters and graphs.. My phone does not have any such features. All the more relevant given my 1st point and that the price per MB is horrendous on most networks.
You should have found an application called 'spb GPRS Monitor' on the CD?? install this after having got the machine connected via activesync and you'll have the missing part of the puzzle. This is somet else that should be included within the OS -- MS please buy spb !
>4) Incoming call delay – I read that this is fixed in later roms. I tried to install a JASJAR rom and failed. My phone is locked. Blastit !
Indeed, phone should have never gotten to market with this major bug.
Webis mail is an improvement, but still not great. My main issue with imap is the inability to set a specific imap root folder. My mail is served from my linux box at home, and there is stuff other than mail in my user directory - I dont want it finding all this stuff (at all!) Yeah, I know you can tell it to sync only specific folders, but initially it tries to sync the lot. I gave up with imap and use pop3 now. Perhaps push email availability will fix this.

@veletron
O2 has a tariff called Data 36 for around £16.50 per month for 36MB and voice calls are on a pay as you go basis (max 25p per minute).
I agree with most item you guys mentioned especially about the phone's ringing late than the actual incoming call. If I carry JJ, on that particular day I would miss most of my calls due to that.
Here is the bug I consider annoying and hopefully they get fixed soon:
1. The Caller ID sent to the BT headset (still number instead of contact name). Have not heard anything yet till now. Dunno until when they're going to fix this.
2. When used in PDA/tablet mode, there is no hardware button for both of the softkeys that are being introduced in WM5. Pretty annoying. Other hardware buttons on the side are mostly dedicated buttons. I have to sacrifice the record button and assign it to click the OK.
3. If you have not found this one out yet. please try it with your JJ/Universal. With a SD card inside the slot, use one finger, pull it out by moving the edge slowly (without pushing it in to release it). The SD card will come out!
I was pretty :`( with this, but when the SD card inside the slot, even I shake the JJ it will not come out. At least we have to be extra careful with this.

Exactly... 36Mb is pretty poor, A few hours of streaming monkey radio, some GRIB files, email and web pages etc.. and I am stuffed....
I have had to jump through hoops just to get something half decent. I ended up with a 400MB a month add on but only after I signed up on a business tariff as a sole trader.
The guys at expansys were selling the JJ with an orange all you can eat (1GB per month) data card sim in it. While he told me voice calls would work he could not confirm that that would always be the case, when I spoke with orange they told me it would never work.
For me the most annoying thing is that the Jasjar in about 20% of the cases freezes upon arrival of a new SMS. You know this makes the thing so very unreliable. You never know when the unit has froozen and find out only when you need to use the unit again. Then you start wondering that don't know how many people tried to contact you while the Jasjar was lying frozen, unnoticed.
Kind Regards
I have no complaints at all, i have it exactly as i want it, now Lakeridge have sorted the screen switch time to be instant on wisbar i am happy, I have the following installed
Wisbar Advance 2 (newest release)
Pocket Informant (newest WM5 Release)
Pocket Breeze
Dinarsoft HandyMenu & Launcher & Switcher
Expea2 Theme
Blank Black Wallpaper
The Show and Hide Bottom Bar App (Assigned to a custom Wisbar Icon)
PSShutxp
FlexWallet 2006
CodeWallet Pro 5
Resco Keyboard Pro 4.34
Resco Explorer 2005 v5.20
I have 27.74MB Storage & 17.77MB Program Memory Free
It has taken 5 Hard resets, and much hair pulling and waiting for new releases, but my JasJar is now stable as hell!
Now if only someone could figure out how to display animated gifs as caller ID's i would be as happy as a P.I.S!!!! at last

Aye, I am aware of this. I was gonna go with o2 on data 200 originally, but they buggered up my order, charged me for the device but never sent it, performed a total of 15 credit checks, screwed my credit history, and then started sending me final demands for data200 even though the contract had already been cancelled. Took 4 weeks to get credit record straightened out, and £139.99 for xda refunded, and a further 2 weeks to get them to realise that I had returned the sim within the usual 14 days.
Ruddy Nightmare, after that I dont consider any O2 products to be worth a mention!! I am a long time contract customer, and they were not even interested in keeping the business by way of money off sweetners!
Besides.... 40MB+200 anynet mins still costs much much more on O2 than on t-mobile ;-)

My Universal is losing email accounts. I think memory is not safe in WM5!

Have seen much of that discussed above on my new T-Mobile MDA Pro, however in addition to the overly long call delay, with extremely heavy use over the past month I have observed the following two rather disconcerting "critical" bugs:
- occasionally, the GSM system loses the network despite the network being present and displays a "no service" exclaimation mark next to the service twig. No problem here, except that it does not recover from this state even if the network comes back, or if the location (ie. cell) is changed. For example, this happened in central London today, and after 4 hours of monitoring, it was still lost to the world...
- very occasionally, I've seen my little green service light flashing happily with the clamshell closed, appearing to indicate all was well. However, upon powering up the MDA Pro, I've discovered it had crashed, requiring a reset.
This is serious, because in both cases, my MDA Pro had irrecoverably gone out of network service for a considerable time, during which time any incoming calls had been lost.
In short, I cannot depend upon this device for voice, although I'm happy to live with these issues for data only. So it's a mini laptop... and I still have to get/carry another phone and SIM.

Agree, the Universal is not really a phone its is a PDA/mini tablet. There are lots of people, however, here and at Howard Forums who think the Universal is as good as SE/Nokia phones.
When I had my first Vodafone was about 15 pages long. Hundreds of GPRS/UMTS connections and disconnections. Does not sound right to me! Sure is something funny with the JasJar radio.

Hi
I have seen this also, hopefully a future radio revision will sort it out. I have noticed that even with this (!) mark, the phone *IS* still in service. Some 3rd party progs dont check for a network connection before they try and send data, these still work even with the (!) WiFi is disabled so its not that. I see the same also with wifi, it says 'connecting' but it is in fact connected!!
Basically, the built in stuff is using an API to query the phone about its connection state, and its getting back a 'false'. Stuff that does not bother to query does not get the 'false' and thus works.
Its a pain in the @rse, I think that the display icon displays its state based on the same API call, so perhaps the whole lot is linked together. The status of the device is not being updated correctly.
Oh... it will also ring at times when it is displaying the (!)...
All supposition of course!
Mine will usually come back, if it does not then switching from auto to gsm or umts and then back kicks it into gear. I.e a soft reset is not usually required.
Mine is an MDA Pro flashed with the O2 original ROM.

On my O2 Exec, I find that the backlight often isn't working when I switch it on. I have to go into the Settings, select Backlight, and then uncheck and recheck one of the settings there.
I had the same problem with the Ipaq I used to have, although it seemed to happen less regularly.
Calendar\Task alarms dissapear, no Notification with Alarm
the WM "Notification Que" Issue
After 3 weeks of usage of my Qtek9000:
- all the Calendar notifications dissapeared (no text, no sound);
- the Alarms did have sound and vibra, but no text and Notification softbutton on the screen;
- alarms sounds could appear on their selfs on a random time and no Text on the screen.
I've searched the forum and it learned out that it is a Notification Que Issue.
It looks that upon a time, that que is being oversized or some mess (duplicates?) happened in it.
So, after that the "Notification Que" Issue appears.

After trying to use my XDA Exec as my main device I had to finally just use it for PIM, eBooks & web (with Opera) and I used a Moto v3X as my main mobile/cell phone as the call quality of the Exec is poor relative to other standard 3G phones and I don't like the delay in altering you to an incoming call. But even as a eBook reader mini tablet I suffered because of the poor battery life and the need to reboot every two days. So I have now gone back to using my Nokia 9500 and I feel so much less stress now! I can't wait for the 3G Nokia Communicator.
Anyone got a fix for this?
lost wifi wep keys every time i soft reset? - keep on having to eneter the bloody wep key!!!!

Since my last ROM update from O2 the machine is extremely fast. I got of O2 and installed corporate one and never looked back. I laways have 28MB program and 28MB storage and no hacks involved. I have 512 MB SD card (getting smaller need bigger one).
Incoming calls: always answers the after the first ring.
pressing the phone button brings the dialer up in a split second.
I have buletooh car kit and always connect with my Exec for at least 1 hour at a time twice day without dropping a single connection ever.
WiFi extremly robust and never had problem connecting to mine or a paid one and it is beautiful used with SKYPE to make cheap phoen calls abroad.
I hardly need to reset the machine unless an application behaves badly. I just dont install unnecessary applications, or pretty ones (it is a matter of taste this one)
There is no proper close for application, it would be nice but hardly an issue to me (only a couple of taps away), actually some application I want them running.
Never had problems with call connections, and I travel between London and Swindon everyday.
As for Battery, when not using the display I switch it off (I can still get calls).
I leave a USB cable at work for recharging and a a car charger in the car. I also bought a spare battery. I am never out of battery (ofr my kind of usage).
All applications are standard and I use them heavily, appointments, alarms, contacts (2550 names of all the company employees), emails, word, and especially presentation (power point) and they do the job adequately.
I donwloaded and tried (with intention to buy) many application that might replace the standard ones but I always unable to justify spending the money as they don't do anything special (prettier maybe).
the only application I have is
WiFiFoFum for scanning wireless networks.
SBP GPRS Monitor (O2 gives me 100K a month free - wehehehe)
Adobe Reader 2.0
Microsoft Reader
PocketTV
CodeWallet Pro 5.0
Inesoft Cash organizer 05 Premium
Skookum for RSS news
and of course SKYPE 2.0
and with mobile google and a list of mobile websites in my Internet Explorer favourites and skookum I can get all the news and info that I need.
What I don't like;
no front screen to see who is calling without opening the device (this would have been a killer to me).
A-GPS or even a full blown GPS would have been very nice indeed.
I bought themachine 4 months ago from O2 high street; now hwyI don' thave these bugs people talk about, is there different versions of bad batches? I am not the only one I met quite few people who also get surprised when we read the bugs. Strange; could it be the way people use the device?
Thanks

Stay connected after collecting email

Hi All - My previous O2 PDA - an XDAIIi - used to connect using GPRS and retrieve my emails ..and it stayed connected..which was ideal for me as I hate the 'dialup message box' popping up whilst I'm working.
My new XDA Exec seems to disconnct after retrieving emails, which is a pain. Does anyone know how to stop it doing this and stay connected?
Thanks
Steve
Answered my own question...
Open up a registry entry program such as Resco Registry that comes with Resco Explorer 2005. Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A3 8-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\(GPRS connection name)\AlwaysOn". Change the value from 0 to 1. The above setting is i-mate JASJAR specific, but it is reported that on other WM5.0 devices, the string betwen providers and connections varys slightly. The first seven digits (guid) of the string is the same, but the rest of it ight be different. If it doesn't work exactly search for alwayson with your registry program and report back the results and you should find it.
Not sure where I got this from...but thanks to whoever originally posted it

does the battery last less long when using this tweak? I can imagine it will drain a bit faster.
if someone has some experience regarding this, could you please tell me what the decrease in standby time would be?
Thanks
Always on...
Good point! My XDA Exec is new and I'm absolutely paranoid about the battery life (my previous device - an XDAIIi had poor battery life too)
I'm not very technical, but I assumed that although it was connected, it wouldn't drain much juice if nothing was being downloaded (a bit like a modem on my PC when nothing is going on)

O2 Xda Stealth, Wifi card not detected.

Hi guys,
Inherited a Stealth few weeks back but i realised that the Wireless option (to turn it on and off) doesnt work, nothing happens when i try to turn on my wifi, so i did a hard reset, but after the hard reset, it doesnt even detect or show up my wireless options. Any ideas guys?
What ROM are you using ??? I had a similar problem with my stealth for over 6 months after upgrading ROM....I tried every thing including careful changes in registry ....the problem was only solved after downgrading to the original ROM more than once ....I still get minor problems when WIFI wouldnot load but works after repeated soft reset ....I suggest you try to soft reset few times an see if this solves the problem....best of lucks....
hi man,
Thanks for replying.
I am using WWE_RM061208. Everytime i restart the phone it says, "Unrecognized card in slot" i am assuming this is the wifi card? any ideas? which version rom should i be using? It asks me to enter the device driver/name or something. thanks.
The unknown card is the wifi card....I used to get this notification daily for over 6 months when the wifi was not working .....Try soft-reset few times and if the notification disappears then wifi should work.....Is your ROM Original or cooked???? have you upgraded the ROM at all??
HI man,
Yes i have upgraded the ROM from www.mwg.com but it doesnt really do much, some of the settings still are around. Any suggestion which ROM should i use? What ROM are u using man? I tried soft reseting a few times but it doesnt work, it still comes up.
The ROM from mwg is original and I used it for downgrade from wm6 (YUC)..... is the wifi working when you hard reset the device ????....I used yuc wm6 but because of wifi problem there, I downgraded from mwg and then upgraded again to yuc wm6 from here

Hello All,
Since a fortnight, am observing strange problems within Network (clogs) and Virus Attacks on my Internet Cable based connection. This is a 256 Kbps line.
Problem I can see is:
a) A script or attacked is launched from a remote server/machine. It's domain address is 222360.com. Attacks happened from union.222360.com, s.222360.com and now with v.222360.com.
b) Once the scripts is launched (.js script), it gets hooked within my browser (Firefox 2.0.0.11).
c) Then, my internet activity will be disrupted severely for some time!! (can't open any page). I am using "Adblock Plus" within Firebox to block this script off.
d) Is there is no script, an attacked is launched on the open HTTP ports or on Yahoo Messenger.
e) Ultimately, an attack is made in form or Trojan or Exploit to gain access or to steal information from my system.
I can see the following logs from the NAV 2007 firewall.
I have similar problems with my stealth..
But worse...
My wireless manager only shows Bluetooth and Phone..
No more Wi-Fi thing..
It happen when i downgrade it to WM5,i got it from mwg..

I had a similar problem with wifi for over one year . I had to down and upgrade my stealth 3 or 4 times and finally worked alone after repeat soft reset ...another problem is that you may see wifi icon but doesnot work on pressing it...try removing the battery for 6 to 12 hours and restart again...now at this time I did soft reset for my stealth and the wifi didnot load but iam sure it will work after few hours or tomorrow
First of all thank God,because sending this guy(Yuc) to us..you gave a new life for our O2Xda Stealth, like a candle shining in the dark..Trilions thanks to you.
Actually i would like to ask somebody's help about ZiIME.CAB.. i deleted phoneime.dll but still can't delete zisip_Opt.dll.. it said "Cannot delete file ZiSip_Opt:the file may be in read-only memory,on a write-protected disk,or currently in use by another applications"
is there another way to delete this file?
Secondly how to kill "cprog.exe" in Task Manager?
Another silly question is can somebody upgrade O2XdaStealth GPRS Cellular Data Link to 3G or 3.5G..or is there any Booster for Internet connection?
the 02 xda stealth camera. it was its quality built-in GPS receiver, CK3300 adds navigation functions to the benefits of the CK3100 kit. It enables the driver to access wirelessely NMEA-0183 standard GPS data via Bluetooth . Those Data can be used with all Smartphones or PDAs. The GPS output may also be utilised with the Route 66 navigation software for Symbian mobile phones, allowing not just house-number precision navigation but also up-to-date traffic information.
After almost 9 years from this post, my stealth is still alive
