I'm confused???? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

just looked at the specifications for the xda atom,
wm 5.0
bluetooth 1, 2 compliant
including A2DP & AVRCP????
how did they do that????????? :?:
http://www.seeo2.com/product/XdaAtom/template/XdaAtomProductInfo.vm

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm sure someone will), but isn't that hardware compatibility?
I think they still need to have the WM5 AKU2 updated ROM for the software side just like the rest of us.
FYI: I've been informed by iMate Tech Support that AKU2 for K-Jam is in
the last phase of testing

(as at 18th Jan 2006).

i thought the delay was compatability with wm5
cause 2003 se users can download an upgrade for a2dp
i've done it for my wifes s110.

Yeah if you have an XDA 2i you can install the Broadcomm stack update to get A2DP.
This doesn't work on phones that use Microsoft stack though (this applies to the Wizard)

i thought the delay was compatability with wm5

That's what I was trying to get across yes . The specs for the O2 Atom referred to in the OP indicate the hardware compatibility with Bluetooth A2DP, but the Microsoft stack pre AKU2 lacks software compatibility.
Sorry if I wasn't clear - my caffeine levels need adjustment.

and i suppose the broadcomm stack can't go on the wizard

Toshiba bluetooth stack ROCKS...

I installed the Toshiba bluetooth stack on my I-Mate Jam and it ROCKS - it includes ALL the functionality/profiles missing in the MS stack!
...BUT...
It is unstable as hell (I have experienced all sort of "cosmetic" issues) and I am fairly sure this is due to the fact that both MS and Toshiba stacks try to use the same bluetooth hardware SIMULTANEOUSLY.
...SO...
has anyone figured how deinstall/reinstall the microsoft bluetooth stack on a Magician (I-Mate Jam, Qtek S-100, MDA Compact, XDA Mini)?

So, what "ROCKS" about it?
Always do full backup b4 installing sware.
it does what the MS BT stack does (serial port, headset, activesync), but also adds other profiles (pan, dun, obex, ftp, chat + others from memory)
i.e send files/chat with other mobile phone users, access bt pan, etc... though i am only interested in pan, chat and obex
when i fisrt played with it, i immediately saw why everyone whinges with the bt stack...
it's excellent and stable for me, didn't expierence any bugs...
dutty:
Did you get pan working ?
If so can you please let me know how?
Thanks,
Martin
I'm kinda interested ...
Can u please post a copy of that Toshiba Bluetooth stack u're using so we can all have a chance to have a look at it and maybe modify it to work on our phones
uh, just started the service, restarted the device and connected to it!
BUT, i also installed the toshiba BT stack on my workstation
I'm kinda interested ...
Can u please post a copy of that Toshiba Bluetooth stack u're using so we can all have a chance to have a look at it and maybe modify it to work on our phones
And just more thing ... How did u manage to get that bluetooth stack to run on xda devices since it keeps checking for external SD bluetooth cards and was not designed for internal bluetooth chips ?
Look in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15382&highlight=
Thanks for the link ....... BUT !!
I was able to download the Toshiba BT Stack v5.01 but it won't seem to work on my xda !! Everytime I tap on Bluetooth Setting (from toshiba) It says the following ' An error occurred with the Bluetooth Card. Confirm that the card is working properly.
Both my MS Stack and Widcomm Stacks are disabled and don't conflict with this new Toshiba Stack.
I was wondering how the thread owner got this BT stack running on his xda ?
It works on my XDA Mini just fine. The only problem I'm having is that it won't stay resident when you power off the device.

Will this new stack work on a Qtek2020 ? I've tried installing it on my Qtek2020 but it won't recognise my bluetooth hardware !!

Sorry, another question.
In the event of a hard reset will my O2 XDA II restore the MS stack with whatever registry settings that were deleted in the process of installating the Toshiba bt stack? Will the Toshiba bt stack be totally removed in the evnet of a hard reset?
Thanks again
yes sir

Cannot connect when call ring.. connect then call is fine.
Cannot Accept call with button on headset.
Any more Problems ???
Please post your problems ..
Hi
i´ve tested the toshiba bt software on my MDA-Compact but haven´t got very good results. First, after installation, it seems to work good with my Royaltek RBT 3000 (GPS), but after i´ve switched off the device while an active bt connection was established with my gps software, the bt-stack broks down and the whole systems seems to be unstable. Even after a softreset the bt-software from toshiba says that they didnt recognize any bt hardware.
Now i am trying to deinstall the bt-soft and can recommend everybody who wants to test to make an backup before ;-)
I think that the software from toshiba could work, when the ms-bt-stack would be completly changed with the toshiba-stack, but doesnt work without problems when both bt-stacks are on the system.

Bluesoleil BT stack + manager, stable and more profiles

I found out about this BT stack driver through a thread regarding the toshiba BT stack driver, so i thought: other driver, other thread
Original thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15604
Download BlueSoleil CE here: http://ivtcorporation.com/download/BlueSoleil_Download.php#bluesoleilforce
Credits for finding this BT stack go to: rdkay
It has a lot more profiles then the standard MS stack.
Occording to their web site, supported profiles are:
PAN, OPP, SYNC, LAP, DUN, FTP, FAX, HID, SPP, HCRP, BIP, Headset, AV
The manager that comes along with it, is also a lot better then the standard one, more options, more playing around
I played around with it for a while, and i think it is rock sollid. Although I have only tested the SPP profile (with BT GPS). It never crashed, not even on suspend & resume. The radio will be deactivated during suspend though. For me this is perfect, because it will save battery life.
On resume, it will be automatically reactivated.
Installation procedure:
- Download Bluesoleil CE: http://www.bluesoleil.com/update/index.asp
- Before install, delete these reg keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\BTIcon]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\microsoft\bluetooth]
- Reboot PPC
- Install Bluesoleil CE
- During setup on PPC select Manual -> USB driver, then let setup reboot
This next step is optional, do this only when you have troubles with your GPRS connection (a newly installed network driver prevents it from operating properly on my device) Delete following reg keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BTNIC]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BTNIC1]
Reboot once more
Finished! enjoy
Sorry to spoil the celebrations, but I have already tried this stack. Indeed it works fine - except for the dirty details mentioned on the download page:
"Note: If your Bluetooth Hardware device (such as USB Dongle) is not licensed by IVT for using with BlueSoleil, any BlueSoleil version downloaded here can only be used as evaluation version, only 5M data can be transfered through Bluetooth link in evaluation version."
Unfortunately this is true - it shuts down the connection after transfer of 5Mb and after some time (a couple of weeks?) it no longer functions at all. I would be happy to buy the full version of this Bluetooth stack for my MDA Compact, but sadly the company does not seem willing to sell it.

is this the solution i've been looking for, for my Parrot CK3000 carkit?
Just 3 questions before i will try this one tonight:
- Is it un-installable? (cause you change the regkeys)
- You had no problems with ActiveSync? Cause i would really feel bad loosing that!
- If it works on the Magican, it should also work on my dutch MDA Compact (T-Mobile, but ROM upgraded to 1.06, radio 1.05) right?

- You should make a backup of the reg keys you delete, only then it will be reversible.
- No problems with activesync of any kind.
- I have radio version 1.05 myself, so for that it should work. For ROM however, I have version 1.03, since too many ppl were complaining about bugs & instability.
--------
Also, I have written an email to their company, asking if they would sell it, and howmuch it would cost. Lets see if we'd get some awnser. I could live with a 60 days limit (i would reinstall my PPC long before that), but a 5 meg limit....... :?
So, which devices are licensed?
Found a configuration file, so we can do some additional tinkering
File: \Windows\bttl.ini
The following file has obviously to do with the license for application.
I suspect, that if we might be successfull with tickering in this file, we might get a full blown version. But lets first wait if I get awnsers from the company if they'd sell it; I prefer a legal version.
License File: \Windows\IVTLicConf.dat
Also, an additional ini file, that appears to be the same (?) as my first reported bttl.ini : \Windows\BTDynamicConfig.ini
for me it is working perfect. thx a lot heimiko.
Anybody tried this stuck with BT headsets...?...I would like to know if it works with SE HBH-660 or some other BT headset supporting Caller ID...

Xlephant: I was really looking for a good stack for my ck3000 also! Can you tell me if it allows me to upload the phone numbers to my carkit also and use the voicedialing app inside the ck3000? (Cause with my old Sony Ericsson T610 I could)
Thomas
don't know much about the ck3000. but i have no problems to upload the phonebook with this stack. but i was also be able to upload it with the ms stack(the ck3300 works perfect with the ms stack). i swaped the stack only because of the PAN profil.
I don't understand what everyone is getting excited about. If you cannot buy it, then it is useless to me.
Regards,

thats true but i think there should be a way to buy it or to reset the 5mb limit.

It should, provided you have a dialer app that does. And as the bluetooth is switched off in standby you would have to initiate the dial-up from the device, not from the headset.
Radio issue
What do you mean by the radio will be deactivated during suspend? The Bluetooth radio or won't I be able to recieve any incomming calls on my MDA Compact?
Has anyone actually experienced any of the mentioned limitations, i.e. 5 MB limit, etc.?
Cheers for the reply!
I should try it

Bluetooth A2DP

I am missing A2DP Support on my MDA Pro. It looks like this is a Microsoft issue. They still living behind the moon.
I think MS will bring an Update for this Issue. But does anyone know, how the progres is and how this Update will be delivered? Can we just download it from MS or do we have to wait for an updated ROM from out Network-Cariers?
I like to by a BT Stereo Headset :`)
On BlueAngel I get A2DP work with a BT Update
No idears?
for me the ideal will be to use the Nokia HS-12W con Universal. and i'm hoping that will be solved soon (HS-12W is not released either)
Wizard is suppose to have bluetooth v2 which should include the a2dp
ms dident invent bluetooth and they have never been big on taking the tech of others to the max
other pda's which have stereo sound over bluetooth dont use ms's bluetooth stack to get it
Ok, then we have to try getting a widcomm stack on the universal?
well recall somebody talking about getting the newly release vidcomm stack for 2005 on their himalaya with 2005 but it dident work
not sure if it's more likely to work on a universal which have the final 2005 and not a beta like himalaya
pretty sure it was in the 2005 forum i saw it

Strange I thought the MDA has the same BT stack from Broadcom as my XDAIIi, I did run the update described in the link above and got the A2DP - The only difference after the install is the extra profile for High Quality Audio on my XDAIIi.
My BT stack version is and still is 1.0.0 Build 3900 from Broadcom.
I did immediate soft reset after the install and then checked the profiles...
I hope you find solution soon! Check out the other BT software updates on the ftp site...
Good Luck!

I have not tried this ROM and TBH dont think I will!
Altho I receive a fair few emails, I'd rather let my device check half hourly and have A2DP then have AKU2 and no stereo bluetooth!
im using this new rom, and i think the battery life is a bit less tbh. Its only been one day so i will report back.
The old MDA pro ROM did not have A2DP either.
I notice this ROM has a higher radio ROM version (1.10.03 vs 1.09.00 for the Qtek ROM with A2DP). Maybe that would be a worthwhile upgrade.
Do those A2DP files which were floating around work on the MDA Pro?

It certainly did! The rom shipped with my pro didn't but after downloding the previous rom to the one currently on the download site, A2DP works fine.
I'm running the old T Mobile ROM which has the A2DP capability, have a set of Samsung BT Earphones, I'd like to go to another non gay looking ROM but unfortunately I like the stereo sound and capabilities (my G/F's Jasjar ROM doesnt support the A2DP fully) and I need Blackberry, the only combination I have found so far is the TMob old version.
Just thought I should drop a post in regarding this...
I recently got an o2 exec that was running an orange rom, as I'm on t-mobile and there was a new rom out, this one, figured I'd give it a shot.
Today I picked up a pair of HP bluetooth headphones, expecting after reading this to be changing the rom to get them to work.
However, on pairing them, they showed a stereo service, and on listening the controls are working fine with media player (skip \ pause \ volume etc).
I assume this means it *does* have A2DP and AVRCP...
Where have I been lately?
Well I have just upgrade my ROM and I have to say that i am quite happy as Messenger has re-appeared and it seems to be operating a touch faster than before.
The hotmail auto download looks quite handy but could run up a surprise data bill if not watched carefully.
Co-Pilot seems to run a little faster too which is a bonus.
The Running Programs on the HOT key is most useful.
I used to experience issues connecting via USB to my lappy but everything is fine now.
Early days but so far I'd rate it a 9/10
msn messenger seems so iffy, im lucky if it actually works once a week!
Normally have to use agile which is a pain as it signs out after no activity after a while...

Bit confusing this...I have spoken to T-Mobile technical and they are checking;
The ROM mentioned is dated on the site as 19/06/06, but the installed date from Device Information says 04/13/06 (13/04/06 for us brits ), which is also the current release ROM on T-Mobile units and the previous ROM Release on the site (from what i can gather).
So, is it an upgrade? or a re-release?

Widcomm stack on HTC Wizard

Is it possible ?! I know it's been asked before but I hope that someone has new answers...as others, I get this error:
"The Bluetooth Radio failed to turn ON due to insufficient driver memory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the Bluetooth Radio."
I tried everything, I even f*cked up my MS stack (which is ****ty btw).
It must be some registry setting(s) something related to the maximum memory allocated to drivers in WinMobile...
Thanks guys
up!

Strange some peopel reported "high quality" with the Wizard A2DP. I've never managed to fine tune it to reach the quality of my other A2DP-capable PDA's. See my remarks and the hacks I've tried in my A2DP-related articles.

Did you try disabling the MS BT stack similar to as is described in the AximSite thread? It's not done exactly the same way (because, then, the x50/x51 hack would work on these HTC devices too), "just" similar to it.

Kinda. I really recommend the "original" AximSite thread - there, you MAY find out how the MS BT stack can be disabled so that the driver memory is freed up. (The case was the same on the Dell when we started the Widcomm project.)

I'll keep in touch
hummm
I've blanked my S200
desactivated MS BT stack ==> 26mo of free ram at this point

same memory error...
I don't think it's a "real" memory problem but it is clear that the problem comes from the initialization part...
Just a thought but:
Dell AXIM, XDA atom, BlueAngel, ... => the devices on which the stack works have got a common caracteristic : the CPU : XScale one...
On the other side, the prophet, the magician, the wisard,... => the devices on which everything seems correct with the widcomm stack but still refuses to start it, avec an OMAP CPU...
Perhaps it's a newbie reflexion, perhaps it has nothing to do with it... but perhaps the initalization process has some CPU specific routine...

Sounds pretty good for a newbies speculation. I was reading about this (randomly scanning thru all topics) and wondered how much memory exactly did you gain by removing the bt stack? I dont even use BT (might get a headset, but prob not) and if its worth the memory gain, I might try to disable it myself.

I've blanked my S200
desactivated MS BT stack ==> 26mo of free ram at this point
installed the stack from axim site
same memory error...
Perhaps it's a newbie reflexion, perhaps it has nothing to do with it... but perhaps the initalization process has some CPU specific routine...

i've read a lot about widcomm bt on wizard, and i found the following :
the original ms bt stack calls msusbhub dll, which means that bt in HTC devices uses usb to get connected, and the widcomm stack tries to connect to an internal serial port.
conclusion : widcomm stack can run on OMAP, but we have to write a wrapper between usb and the internal serial port.
anyone can do that ? / i am not enough experienced, in ppc development, not even in driver dev.
The Wizard contains a TI BT RF front-end no? Anyone know the part number?
