jasjar, wm5 and tomtom5 - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

First post. So a newbie.
Got my (universal) jasjar yesterday. From initial assessment it's a great piece of kit and NOT as big many claim. Only marginally bigger than PDA2K.
However, Tomtom 5 will not install from the CD. Setup just bombs out as soom as I click install.
I have seen similar reports on the Himalaya(?). Has anyone solved the install problem. If yes, is the himalaya solution going to work on the universal?
Would welcome any advice on what to try. Thanks

hello
from where did you get it has the i-mate launched it in dubai please reply as i would like to get one.

I don't have this problem but I have seen a lot of chat about it on Buzzdev.net. I did a search and have included the search page here: http://buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&Itemid=&func=view&catid=26&id=2758#2758
Great site anyway to have a browse on
Hope it helps

Thanks Seal, I'll pop over and hava a looksie. I'll let you know if I succeed.

A little help from you please, I have asked this question on so many sites and forums and no one seems to know so you have the actual device might know, Can you cut/copy/paste on the key board, there doesn't seem to be a Ctrl Key, but maybe the Function key does it. Please any anwser would be awesome.

Seal
Yes you can use the keyboard for cut/copy and paste. You use the FN Function+Space keys and this combination brings up editing shortcuts

You have been the final decider, I now must order this device, thankyou heaps, I appreciate your answering.

I have now got tomtom working. I followed the instructions on the Himalaya forum and extracted the cab files to my storage card and installed from there.
Now I just need CheckPOInt to recognise the Great Britain Map.

QTEK 9000 (aka HTC Universal) - Q's

Hello all,
So I got me a QTEK 9000 with the following set:
ROM Version : 1.13.64 WWE
Radio Version : 1.03.00
Protocol Version :42.36.P8
Here's a few probs I have:
1.) I'm missing that darn BTIcon in my tray. Can anyone post a link to a CAB file enabling me to install the sucker?
2.) When applying the manual VGA tweak for 640X480 res I do not see the Windows Start icon or any other icon in the top bar besides time displayed on the top righthand side.
Please advice and/or provide BTIcon.CAB specifically for HTC Universal or QTEK 9000. I tried all the other options on this website already.
Thanks,
D
Aaah come on people. No one that can help me out here?
So no BT icon on settings/comms?

Settings/Comms sports the BT Icon beautifully but it doesn't show in the Tray and Top.

Hello Dream,
Thanks for the advice but in my opinion something as simple as a Bluetooth icon should be solveable without referting to a complete ROM change. Please advice.
Best regards,

thank you thank you thank you.
I am just curious, when you say BT icon, are you referring to the small icon on the tray that shows the connection for the phone, BT, WiFi, and All?
Hi,
Regarding your missing icons in VGA mode. The 96.dll files have been "signed" with a developers certificate (SDK) therefore you need to load the SDK certificate on to your system before these system resources will be permitted to operate.
There should be a file called SdkCerts.cab which you need to install first.
Please note that the use of the SDK certificates will pose a security risk to your system.

Garmin MapSource + Garmin iQue

I have finally cracked it !
MMMMMuuuuupet !!!
See solution in the very end of this mesg.
See my previous post about that:

Subject: Garmin iQue issue
I was spending quite a while looking for this issue already.l
Had some help from Garmin to proceed with com port allocation.
But for the issue with Mapsource to Garmin link they doesn't reply at all.
My clue is that something wrong with RAPI interface which has changed between ActiveSync 3.8+WM03 and 4.0+WM05.
If you watch how older devices work you can see that ActiveSync launches (on PPC) RapiSrv.exe program which will deal with Mapsource by the use of QueRapi.dll.
I've looked for the number of documents on Microsoft regarding new ActiveSync and wm2005, looks like we need new version of ppcQue.
I use iMate Kjam + GPS10
If you find some fix, please drop me a text on mekel#yandex.ru.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MMMmmMMMmmuuuupet !!! I was mmmuuupet.
I found RapiUnlock a long time ago in the net and thought it should resolve the issue. Imagine I even copied RapiUnlock.CAB to Imate, but forgot to run it (not sure what I was smoking that time .
RapiUnlock will solve the issue and I can finaly sync MapSource with GarminQue app on ppc.
Hope this will help someone else.
Can you please post a link to RapiUnlock.
Thanks
How did you get Que on to your wizard? I had a Ique 3600 and loved it untill it up and died on me a couple weeks ago. I still have MapSource on my computer and would like somehow to get it to work with my Wiz.
The Garmin QUE comes with the Garmin GPS 10, it is a package. I was just looking at buying one. I already own 3 older Garmin GPS's and love them. So if I could get QUE to work on the 8125 I would be very happy.

Works fine on my K-Jam (a bit slow if compare to 400Mhz Ipaq though).
I even found GarminQue 2.80 beta in the Net. This version already properly handle screen rotation.

Installing TOMTOM 7

First a thank you for all the support I found here. Tried to install TomTom 7 on the X1 (legit) with ttn7.cab and TT..repack3, none worked. It starts to install but on the end it shows "unsuccessful". You can open TT, even download also "unsuccessful" a free map, what I do not need. The maps I have are all from TT6, but none is recognzed by TT7. Calling TT does not help they do not support TT7. TT home 2.5 does not see the X1. SE has no idea. I also talked to Navigon in Europe but there is yet not a WM 6.1 compatible version available. Just want my navigation back and working. Can anyone direct me to get it done?
are you using a qvga or vga version of the cab file? i have tomtom7 installed very easy on my x1 and works perfect
also tt7 doesnt support tt6 maps as far as im aware, but tt7 maps everything installed really easy on wm6.1
if you need more help let me know
is it a new purchase? have you had it on a phone before?

Don't mean to hijack your thread but.....
I would like to purchase the UK & Western Europe maps but not certain which ones to buy (Tom Tom site does not list X1) also I cannot get TT Home to recognize the X1 so not sure if I can install the maps even if got them.
Anyone done this yet?
I bought mine for cruise/diamond and it works fine
Thanks - how did you install it? Was it via TT Home or just download from tomtom.com to PC and manually transfer?
Thanks
1) Use the old TT Home version - 1.5 - this will work !
2) TT 7 works with 6.75 maps - earlier versions not !
Thanks Peter.
I have tried to find TT 1.5 but no luck so far. Any ideas?
Just Google TomTom 1.5 and you will find it - if not leave me a message and I email you the file
Hi Peter, will try what you say to get it done. I used TomTom before on my Ipaq. I must change the "device" in TomTom Home- how? Where can I find on my maps which version they are, they are paid and downloaded. Which version of TT7 are you using? Would be greatif you could help out, thanks anyway

TomTom Navigator 6

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but I couldn't dig it out.
I have fully licensed Navigator 6 software, and TT has promised be a new activation code after I have transferred to my HD2 from my TyTn II.
I can get the TT6 cabs onto my HD2 and get the HD2 recognized by TT Home 1.5. But when TT installs, it throws up a configuration screen that is obviously in the wrong screen resolution and conflicts with the HTC operating system overlay.
Can anyone offer an work around, since I see that some have obviously overcome the problem already?
Stephen
My researches continue. It seems no-one has ever successfully run TTN6 on the HD2. It would in theory be possible if the apps to lower the screen resolution would work with WM 6.5; but they don't
Meanwhile TomTom has discontinued sale of TTN7 Windows, although it remains available for the iPhone.

sorry mate if you are referring to tomtom version 6.000, i have it on my HD2 nd it is working perfectly, i had it on my HTC Diamond and Diamond2. I have it installed on my sd card
Is the screen resolution ok? I can't get the set-up screen in the correct resolution after firing up the cab and installing successfully off the SD card. Did you just put the old SD card from the Diamond 2 into the HD2?

all working good...did not have to do anything...just installed the cab on the sd card and opened the application and located the maps et voila
NB: I used the same micro sd that i used to have in my Diamond 2 and the cab was on it
you have a private message...check it out
Stephen, I have exactly the same problem. If you get this to work please let me know how
Thanks
gdayhtc was able to resolve the problem for me. It is obviously a question of some cabs working and some not. The cabs on my TomTom DVD did not. I have tested TT6 today: it worked fine. Will go to landscape when the HD2 is tilted (after a tweak) and does not interfere with bluetooth.
Could you post the cab you are using now?
Please pass your request to ericjennings.
Hi, i am also having the same issue, can i share the same request? thanks.
tom tom navigator 6
I've noticed that it only works if you run it if your system in landscape mode before you launch the program. it wont run in portrait mode.

Hello, I see you have found a way to get TomTom 6 to work with WM 6.5. I'd like to get it to run properly on my lg expo. It runs in landscape with the keyboard out but I have 3 panels side by side of the same screen. Forget about it in portrait—the screen is a garbled and smushed at the top of the lg screen. I've tried both cabs ttn.cab & ttn2003.cab found on my original dvd. Please help. Thanks

You need to install WVGAFIX4 in your window mobile 6.5 device. Check out the forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455974 .
Once installed then install the TTN 6 as normal BUT run the WVGAFIX4 before running the TTN 6 in your mobile.
