Answer Machine software on the XDA II - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

A long time back I bought some software for my SPV which was an answer machine, which was based on the actual phone rather than through the provider (Orange).
With this software, you could record your own greeting also stored on the phone itself, and if you missed a call or rejected one, it would be saved as a voicemail on your phone or on your memory card, with details of the number that left it.
You could select other different options like how many rings before it kicked in etc.
This saved having to pay to retrieve voicemails from the provider and was a very useful program.
Does anyone know if there is something similar for the XDA II available anywhere?
Thanks in advance

I haven't heard of such software, and have been looking for one as well.
I cannot believe it is not possible to have a software answering machine.

it is indeed
the first one and the only one i know was on the sony Z5 and M-Z5 phone witch is already 3 or 4 years old
it included a real answering machine on the phone independant from the one of the operator.
so i guess it might be possible on a smartphone but i ve never seen it on the orange SPV.

Sorry, my mistake there, it wasn't on my first SPV at all , it was on my Nokia 7650 and it was called AnsweringMachine_101
I still have the downloaded "sis" file here but am sure it wouldn't work on my XDA? :? :? :?

he he,lol..
Yes,answering machines softwares are popular on Symbian Based Phones.
But there ins't actually soft like that to ppc..or maybe try search on PocketGear.
Will be very interesting to have a Symbian Emulator to ppc!
Good luck!

I've been wanting to do this. Does anyone have any detail on accessing the phone (radio?) wave IO from the .Net Compact Framework? Standard DLL calls are, of course, an option.

Didn't the HP Jornada w928 Pocket PC Phone Edition include onboard answering machine software? I seem to remember reading that it did.

pocketnow.com -- it's all about portability...

it is impossible to make an answering machine on PocketPC 2003 OS. This is a software and mostly hardware limitation. When call is established the audio output from wave driver is muted, and there is no way to make it play into the phone line so that other side would hear it. And there is no TAPI "wave/in/out" devices that are used by answering machine software on "big" compiters in PocketPC 2003. Built-in GSM modem in all phones I've checked, also does not have voice AT-commands like on voice modems on "big" computers.
Maybe Wince 5.0 would implement all needed functionality.
If there would exist a way of "unmuting" the waveOut device during a call, than it would be easy to write such a program for PocketPC.

Unmuting should be possible using calls to the core system DLL(s). All the same, VS.Net 2005 & WM2005 & its .Net CF will have SMS/Wave/TAPI functionality (so I've read) - hope I get them at work!

"The 928 comes with voice-activation software, and--this is cool--has a built-in answering machine. This is not software to control your mobile carrier's voice-mail, this is an answering machine built into your PDA. "
Yep, the Jornada 928 WDA Pocket PC Phone 2002 had built-in answering machine software. I wonder who made that program and if it would work on an XDA.

i need a pda-phone that recognises handwriting (in landscape format) and that will let me install ibm's viavoice 10 for usb. bluetooth and triband would be nice bonuses. such a device doesn't seem to be available on the commerical market. can anybody build this for me??
XDA II
Perhaps the new XDA II, which is coming out before Christmas (O2), is what you need.
if 2003 dont support that kind of writing and there are no 3th party tool which add this support then a programmer with some time on his hands could make it
not sure about the ibm viavoice thing with me not knowing what it is and all
but XDA is an usb peripherals not a master so you cant connect devices to it like you can a pc
the xda2 have bluetooth and sd SDIO

thanks rudegar. any idea where i could find such a programmer? (btw: viavoice is voice recognition software. version 10 is really pretty good. especially useful for longer papers - 2-3 times faster than typing).
not really since pocketpc use mfc which is the libs many normal windows programmers use many people got the skills to make programs for pocketpc
you could try here
http://www.codeguru.com/forum/
about the ibm thingy then maybe they got a converter to make it work with
sd SDIO port og maybe they'll make it in a SD versions that is if it's not going to work because the XDA cant handle usb peripherals
maybe there is another way around this i dont know
also the XDA dont support SDIO but the XDA2 will
also maybe there are other voice recognition software packs for a normal PDA with pocketpc of cause they may not be as good
thanks rudegar for the codeguru tip. nobody has written me back, so i'm starting to think it may just be impossible to link serious voice recognition software to a reliable pda-phone. will report if i do find a solution. best. c.
i think i recall somebody saying that 2003 support horizoltal display support on the pda
think somebody said that there were a tool to do it with 2002 but you had to softreset it when you wanted to change back and forth
not sure if text recognition would work while the display were horizoltal
but i dont see why not

Answering Machine

is there an Answering Machine that will open when im in a meeting and save the caller massege as a wav file like the one in "record note"?

No there isn't. Please search for why on the board. I've answered this many many many times.
V
thank u for quick Answer...
i wonder because in symbian (a less powerfull os) there is such applicatuon and in windows ce and pocket there isnt...
is it so hard to do?
Well power is not the problem here. The problem is the policy by Microsoft, maker if the OS. The phone api is not publically avail like with Symbian60 phones and this api is needed to create such an answering machine. The Symbian60 phone api is publically avail so there are developers that brought answering machines out a while ago. The same situation can be found with Symbian UIQ devices like se SE P900, the phone api is not avail so no answering machine. Strange enough that one symbian api is avail (S60) while another is not (UIQ). Fact is that the phone api for windows mobile is not avail to developers so they cant bring out answering machines even if it would easily be possible from the power point of view.

Answering Machine for Wizard

Is there any answering machine software for the wizard? I am using Vito Audio Notes and it can record all incoming and outgoing calls with excellent clarity(including mine and also the guys on the other end).If it is possible to record incoming and outgoing then why hasnt anyone developed an answering machine software for windows mobile...I was using a symbian operated phone before and it had got an excellent answering machine...Well the only thing the phone has to do is to pick up a call automatically(infact this option is inbuilt) and then play an audio message...(record the other persons speech if possible) and hang up...is it too much to ask for a windows mobile????.............or atleast it would be good if there was some sort of an automation software for the windows mobile(Eg:automate for windows pc) which can do some automated tasks assigned by us...
Used to have software like that for my series 60 which meant It didnt cost me to get my messages as they were recorded and stored on the phone.
Sure there is something out there.

Sounds like that would be ideal if it could be ripped from the gsmart phone as a cab as was done with the picture dialer today plugin from the Treo 700.
yep...
if a WM5 operated gigabyte can have an answering machine then why not the amazing Wizard!!!???
Well I would assume it can, it just doesnt have the software bundled with the phone. The today dialer plugin worked on the wizard when pulled from the treo.

We all have an answering machine, Voicemail.
xandermac: apparently some operators don't provide that service. I've never encountered it though.

Depending on your package you could incur charges for collecting your voicemail. I guess thats why people would want this solution. Also you could hear your messages as many times as you needed with phone numbers etc.

Answer Machine For Windows Mobile 5

Please Send Link Download Program Answer Machine For Windows Mobile 5
Thank You
You really need to read this thread.
You are a prime candidate for this kind of thing.
As for your question:
1) There is a great new invention called google.com
2) Had you used that invention or the site search engine you would know that answering machine software was discussed here many times in great detail.
3) If you bothered reading, you would know that:
a) Hardware on most WM 5 phone does not allow for answering machine.
b) Those phones that allow it come with the software built in (like g-smart if I am not mistaken)
c) There is a solution (don't remember the links, refer to section 1) that claims to work fairly well on many but phones it is not free.
Have a nice day.
Try ISecretary
This worked for me on HTC Touch.
thanks
your good rom
Isecrtry works for HTC touch P3450
Isecrtry works for HTC touch P3450,
but it enables the speaker phone and its loud, i would appreciate if someone can guide me to set the answering machine in silent mode.

well i think it uses the speaker so it can record with the phone mic!! just a simple theory

iSecretary v4.4 - one really nice working answering machine for Your Windows Mobile

A lot of Windows Mobile users have been asking for answering machines for years. While it has long been available on competing mobile smartphone platforms (for example, Smart Answer for the S60), for Windows Mobile, so far, there wasn't a generic one - that is, one that wasn't shipped along with a specific Pocket PC model only.
Now, this seems to be changing: the first "real" answering machine has been released for WM Pocket PC's.
iSecretary is one really nice working answering machine for Your Windows Mobile Pocket PC.
Features:
- Lifts the handset automatically when the preset time expires.
- Plays the file to the caller.
- Records your caller's message within the limits of preset time and hangs up.
- Contact list filter (choose an individual wav for each contact or group of contacts).
- Ignore list.
- Compatible with speakerphone (for PDA which can not work with signal in line).
- Autoload after SoftReset.
- Speakerphone volume control.
- Microphone control (its work with some PDA, For example: ASUS P525).
- Black list, reject ringing (filtering by phone number).
- Notify system.
- Task bar icon.
- Events system, send sms or voice message by rules.
- Emulate sound around you.
Found this on:
http://www.freewareppc.com/communication/isecretary.shtml
Before everyone starts asking this is from the site... I wish my device worked. (TyTN)
Tested devices on this moment (fully support):
ASUS P525, DOPOD M700, ASUS P535, ASUS P735, HTC Wizard, HTC Touch, I-Mate Jam, Rover E5, I-MATE JASJAR, Eten M600+, E-TEN G500, Toshiba Portege g900.
Tested devices on this moment (half support, outgoing message problem or some other problems):
E-TEN X500, ASUS P526, E-TEN M700, HTC TYNT, TYNTII, Vario 3, Universal, Vario 2, Orbit, Kaiser.
Thank u very much, works fine
does this means that now we have a way to record calls? It was the same problem, and now its fixed!
COOL!
turns off
isecretary turn off when we keep it on standby or power off mode...
ne solutions????
So doesn't work on the mogul?
iSecretary
I dont like it because of the hardware issues with not be able to record without speaker phone, plus this is useless if you have no signal, or turn off your phone.
The alternative that does private/unkown blocking, and allows custom messages for any caller you choose is http://www.youmail.com/.
I started using it last night with my ATT Tilt, and it integrated flawlessly with my service, I can't even tell I'm not using the default service (except that its much cooler).
As far as quick dumping calls it helps to get a firewall, seen a couple free ones around xda that look good, but since I already have spb phonesuite I just use th blacklist built into it.
Tried the latest version 4.6 on BlackStone. It did take the call. However got no greeting message. Still I continued to speak. But i didn't record (no wav file was saved).
I think recording should now be very much possible with running ICR in the background if not possible to code a custom recorder. Hopefully they can fix this.
ohh please wake up al!!
Dear al!!!
Before you try this soft. and start asking questions,I can tell u I have more win mobile handsetts, and not even the above mentioned phones are ok for this software. No flowless working yet.
I think the 4.4 version is lower than the 4.6!Even this latest works exact like S>H>I>T!Unfortunatly.
So hear my request LORD of h.a.c.k.s...Please someone who understand this winmo programms, build finally and for all a nice answering machine. On nokia the guys are already set wit the nice app.
Why we still have a lot of useless program, but no such as this what helps for sure more than hundreds of users????
thank you in the name of suffering Bill Gates haters! helios
Hi,
v4.4 is old, lock here: http://www.isecretary.net/download.php

isecretary is a good application but i am looking for a specific feature. I want the application to route calls at a specific time to answering machine and accept only calls from white list.
lets say after 12 night, i want calls to be accepted in white list while all other calls go into answering machine without even a single ring
those this do any extra charges on the phone??
Why iSecretary can’t mute the microphone of my xperia x1 and why the caller can’t hear my answer message
How can I fix this using registry or any tweak tool for windows mobile 6.1
