All I want is a working phone .. - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Hi !
I bought a tmobile pocket pc phone and need to get it unlocked
My ver. is 3.14.40 (Radio 6.18 pro' 324e4) so I can't use xdaunlocker.exe
Also, can't use developer's 1.2 (or 1.1,1.0) cause my version is old !!
Don't have a flash card, so I need an exe that will update my rom to any ver. which is unlocked. All other benefits of developers ver. will be nice, but it's not the main thing ..
Can anyone help ?
I'm also @ [email protected]
Thanks \!!

Just buy a serial cable and use the xda-manipulator. With that you will keep your original software and your xda gets unlocked.
Greetings, Kaputter

Hello again
well, what i have notice there are more then one version of WM2003
one of them which i downloaded from http://members.lycos.co.uk/xdarom/ where i couldn't downgrade using the nornal method and i was force to use SD Card to go back to my previous ROM but the other version which i downloaded from this FTP Server 195.64.88.44 xda/xda works pretty good and i was able to downgrade to XDA-Developers Special ROM version 1.2 with no problems and without using SD Card.

ROM version: 3.14.17 ENG
ROM date: 10/11/02
Radio: 4.17

Has anyone tried to upgrade an asian XDA (EN version) ? Any problems ?
Thanks,
I upgraded my XDA last night via my USB cradle. I had NO problems at all. Took a little longer than normal :?: But other than that it was fine.

I had the same set upwith yours previously. I upgraded to SER 1.2 and WM 2003 after that. I also upgrade my radio stack to 4.21 from O2 UK. But now, I am back with SER 1.2 and Radio stack 4.21. I wish Icould go back to my old Radio Stack 4.17.
With 4.21 Ilost the "G" and signal strength for GPRS.
I hope my experience helps.
Beeheij, why didn't you keep the 4.17 radio version with WM2003 ? Was it not running properly ?
I think it's always dangerous upgrading the radio module with newer version dedicated to other regions (UK)
Thanks,
brix3,
I want to back to 4.17, but I cannot. Somehow during the process of rolling back I was kicked out.
As for the WM2003, the problem was in the SMS mode. When I picked a phone number, the "+"sign in my contact was not transferred tothe address in the SMS. So each time I wanted to send SMS, I had to correct the phone number.
My Battery Pack was not working. It hung my XDA.
Hope this helps
Has anyone in the US used or done this upgrade? Since it also upgrades the Radio Stack I'm just wondering. If GPRS is getting dropped as stated in other posts it is more that the network drops you or you lose data connection between cells, or the network has a load balance that give placement to voice users over data when bandwidth is needed. Not so much that your radio stack does it.
On the other hand just incase anyone wants to prove me wrong  who in the US has upgraded their radio stack to O2 4.21 and experienced a better performance than AT&T's radio stack (speed stability as staed on their website) :?: This means you probably already had to manually switch the default band 8) first, right? :x
Let me know I love to be wrong  ......I'm only that much smarter than I was yesterday
I'm a little confused. I upgraded to XDA v1.2 and my Device Informations are:
ROM Version: 3.17.03
ROM Date: 05/15/03
Radio Version: 6.18.00
Protocal Version: 324e4
How is it that my radio version is so much higher?

as far as i know XDA v1.2 will not touch your Radio, it will just replace your old CE ROM with the new one which has lots of cool stuff.

Can someone help me unlock an O2 locked XDA

Hi folks just found out about the forum and the advice and information is excellent. I was wondering if anyone can help. I recently purchased a 2nd hand XDA. It appears to be locked to the O2 network and was wanting to use your software to unlock. I downloaded the XDAUNLOCK.exe and executed this as per instructions. But keep getting the message ‘Error getting unlock code’ can you please tell me if you have any other programs that will perform this for me. My details are as follows:
Rom version 3.12.07 ENG
Rom date 08/13/02
Radio version 4.06
Protocol vers 32554
Can anyone help…….thanks John.
You have 2 possibilites to unlock your xda....
1.) Use the XDA-Manipulator and a serial cable
2.) Upgrade your Rom to version 3.17 and use the xdaunlock.exe program
HTH
Stefan
Also, you can try the XDAunlock.exe alone without upgrade. It worked for me but I had 3.18 at that time.
Good luck ...
Thanks Stefen, sorry for sounding stupid but how do I upgrade my ROM to 3.17? Is there something I can download, buy etc ? I already tried the XDAunlock.exe as stated on my original mail but keep getting error message ?
Any help appreciated.
You can down load it from
http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe
http://www.xs4all.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe
Use your XDA connected to the PC through the cradle and follow the instructions.
Good luck ...

How can I restore my system to the original states

Hello,
I know that I should'nt have do that, but I need your help.
I upgrade my MDA on the following state :
Rom : 4.01.16 Eng
RSU : 4.21.00
For buisness reson I have to go back to the original state.
Rom : 3.18.01 ENG
RSU : 3.23.00
Unfortunatly I didn't do a Backup
I have acces to some MDA with the originale rom and rsu
My question is how to go back to the originale state, without destroying the other mda with the originale rom? via bootloader?
Thanks in advance
The ROM part is easy, you can get the original 3.18 ENG from the carrier devices site http://www.carrierdevices.com.au/downloads.php?region=Asia Pacific
The RSU might be your nightmare especially that you have 4.21 which showed to be the pain for most people here ... anyway, in the same site you will find RSU 3.25 for Qtek ... it's almost the same as 3.23.
Good luck
Biso007 Thanks for you answer,
I look at your link but it seems to be the Qteck version, I really need the officiale t-mobile version.
Is there any way to save the originale one in one of the other phone that I have access and restore to my one?
Biso: Is the rom found in http://www.carrierdevices.com.au/downloads.php?region=Asia Pacific WM2003? What radio version it contain? Is it compatible with PW10B1 device?
I'm now running T-Mobile ROM 4.01.16 ENG, Radio 6.25.02. I'm plannning to change the Radio to be compatible with Asia-Pacific and in the US (I've been going to Asia and back to the States for business, so I want a device compatible with both Asia-Pacific and US). Thanks
ok I Download the old version on a new phone via OSimagetool to my sd card and put it on my device. working perfectly.
So now I just have to downgrade the radio stack to 3.23.00, where I can find it and how to downgrade?
I download the file here
http://www.t-mobile.at/business/mobiles_arbeiten/MDA/SWupdates/
Looks like it's working, (at least I have the right number at startup)
the only problems that I had it's that rhe rsupgrade was lauch every time I startup, I had to delete the file rsupgrade on startup folder. now it's working like before.
Thanks a lot.
By the way, does it exist a solution in mda to copy contact name to the sim card?

No, it's PPC2002 and the RSU is 3.25 for PW10A devices (900/1800). I know it coz it was on my device before I replace the mother board with a B-type one.
If you are going to use 900 MHs network in Asia you can keep your current RSU ... I have it on my device and my network is 900/1800 ... other than this you better use 2 phones or get a new XDA II

Dealing with the SIM book is a matter of s/w and the device type (XDA or MDA or ... ) has nothing to do with it. You can find many freeware s/w to deal with the SIM entries.
ok thanks a lot, do you just have the name of one of this freeware?
try this http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=7496
don't work for me

Taimur, I dont mind answering personal messages and I understand your reticence to mess with an expensive purchase without knowledge of all the downfalls, it is better to ask before a problem arises than after. Glad to have helped and I hope you enjoy using your new tool.

downgrade the radio stack?

i have upgraded my radio stack to version to ver 6.24.00 but now my sim doesnt work anymore (no radio connection anymore ) so now i want to downgrade back to the old version. I upgraded because i wanted to unlock but now i cant even use my 02 prepaid ... i need help
i have a xda 1 from o2 germany locked with rom version 3.1.9.01,
You have used the wrong radio Stack. 6.xx are for PW10B-Models (US-Version) with 900/1900 MHz Network receipient.
You have to use a 4.xx ROM, i would say. Check the Rear sticker of your device.
What is shown in Start -> Settings -> System -> Device Information ?
You shoud be able to fix it by doing this:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby_HT_GSMError
If your device is already booting to the today screen you should dismiss steps 1 + 2....
Stefan
thanx for caring... ive downgraded it back to radioversion 4.21.00, it took the hole night but it works again...but i still want to remove the f...ing simlock, but now i am a bit scared...
ok, here the requested data
rom 3.19.01 GER
rom date 05/27/03
Radio 4.21.00
Protocol version 32S54
i know i should be a new topic but i am trying to save server space...
ive got a gps device connected to my beloved XDA 1 (as mentioned above) and the instructions tells me to unlock (ge i hate this word!!!) the com port on my device, so heres my new question, can i unlock it and where can i do this, i havent found a menue to do this...can soneone send me a walkthrough?
For unlocking the device i would suggest to install XDA Developers ROM Version 1.2
For "unlocking" COM1 you have to disable infrared/beam in the settings....
Stefan
Tx Stefan
ok Gps is working fine...
is it save to change the rom? what do i have to consider?
I have a similar problem. My XDA has a rom version that I couldnt find on the list. That is 4.01.16 ENG. Is that normal?
And also I tried to update radio verdion to 4.21.00 but after updating the programme B i couldnt load programme A. When I plug the sim card MY XDA locks and i have to reset it. So i cannot use it as a phone. What can I do?
