can anyone not help me?
I have just finished re installing my windows xp pc, and xdrit still does not work
The old version says falsh the sdcard(takes 2 secs says xxXX bytes done, ok but there is no rom/bootloader etc on the card)
the new one crash everytime i run it, at the point were it starts to write the files

xdarit only works on machines with very few drives. when there are too many devices, it gets confused.
expect a new and improved version soon.

thanks, thats why it dont work then , I have my c: d:. my 6 in1 card reader, and about 4 mapped network drives.
And now soon do you expect the newer one to come out please :?:

Xdarit doesn't write with new .nbf files ?

I use the Xdarit to read & write the Rom image from my MDA.
I managed to read from the SD card and stored on my harddisk.
When I create back with a new rom .nbf files to the SD card and read back again to the harddisk, the SD show the original files size that from my MDA not the one that I'm going to upgrade to ? I rename the files to .nb1 extension.
Do I need to reformat the SD Card ? Do I need a new SD Card for the download ?
Dear XDA developer #..., please advice. I have been posting and yet to get some good advice and replies.
I would appreciate very much of your expertise in this matter.
Thanks again
they should be the same size, nb1, and nb0 files always are fixed size
more answer:
- when using xdarit you never have to format sd cards.
- renaming files will probably confuse XDARit, since this
is how xdarit recognizes what kind of file it has.
What I meant original file sizes.
1. Read from SD Card ( backup from MDA )
bootloader 5-15.nb0 256 K
WindowsCE 5-15.nb1 32,512 K
2. Write to SD Card ( with new ruu extract from O2 ie )
bootloader 5-15.nb0 256 K
WindowsCE NK_Wallaby31413wee_O2_Fulll.nbf 31,745 K
3. Read back the backup step 2.
bootloader 5-15v1.nb0 256 K
WindowsCE 5-15v1.nb1 32,512 K
As you mentioned, the files size are fixed, therefore my files of
the 5-15v1.nb1 should have the content of the NK-Wallaby.....
and I should had leave the file extention as .nbf without rename it to .nb1
Or should i had wite back using the step 1 files name ?
Please advice, many thanks
if you rename an .nbf file to .nb1, you will burn an incorrect os image
to your xda. making it unbootable in OS mode.
( your bootloader will still work )
also, be careful updating your bootloader, if it fails somehow
it is very difficult to restore your xda
if you just want to update your OS, only write the ..nb1 file
or select the .nbf from your distribution, without renaming it.
this http://openwince.sourceforge.net/jtag/iPAQ-3600/ might
give you an impression on what you would have to do, to repair
your xda after you've trashed your bootloader
Bootloader still appear but buttons not working ?
Thanks XDA developers,
My case is that I might accidently overwrite the bootloader.
The bootloader still be able to appear and the GSM OK showed but none of the functions button be able to work.
Do you think there is a way to work around ?
Many thanks for your replies
can u tell about bootloader version?
Bootloader v 5.15 on a T-Mobile MDA with 3.13.12 GER & Radio T310.
i think u can try to make sd card that contain wallaby path (.nb2) using xdarit... logically u can access "action button" to flash the rom.... this is only way to activate "action button"
after insert sd card u can go on bootloader and see wallaby path, press action button, if it work u can flash the rom (may be u should find exact rom that installed before xda died, more work?)
hope u can fix this prob

Hello All,
I can't write new ROM image to SD card with XDArit: I can read image from card, but when I try write new ROM image, I get "Failed to open device \\Physical device12" error message. I try both USB and PCMCIA card readers, but don’t work… What is the problem? (My PC is an Asus P4 notebook with WinXP Pro)
Thx your help & sorry my bad English

try to change device "mass storage device" with driver from manufacture, use one of xdarit executable 180kb or 1.39mb (find out in other thread)
Hello,
I install manufacturer's drivers, but isn't work
I download (found) only 180kb version of XDArit (and source code, but my C++ knowledge... khm...)
Can you write the 1,3mb version's link from me?
Thx
from http://xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1094&highlight=xdarit

Just searching for why I couldn't get XDArit to work with my system - seems the larger (presumably debug) build of XDArit has what's needed to work with the v4 nbf's - thanks for the pointer!

XDArit new version more problem than the old ones ?

Dear XDA Developer #.....,
I did used the old version od XDArit to read and write the Boot+CE with not much of problem. The only thing to be careful is the Select SD card options because the physical Harddisk is one of the choices.
I noticed you had improvised the new version of XDArit to exclude the Harddisk choice but it seems imposible to used the write to SD option.
It always said cannot open physical drive #....
If i am using a 6 in 1 USB travel flash with Flash Memory on it, is this a problem for the XDArit to reconised which drive is the SD card ?
I did a bootloader backup on the SD card from the XDA, I am able to select the SD drive with no problem, it show HTC$WALLABY00 and be able to save to the harddisk ...nbo. I continue to write back the same file it show the cannot open physical drive #.... problem.
The other thing to confirm, how many block are written to SD Card if i choose to write only the Wallaby Patch Tools Image ? I did many time on the SD Card, sometime it said 2 Blocks and sometime 9 Blocks ??? It was able to write once but the XDArit did not write to the SD Card, instead it wrote to the Flash Memory parts of my travel flash ????
Do you think we are able to have the old version back on your homepage to download, give us a selection of version choice.
I would be much grateful if you be able to attached the old version to me for testing, my email : [email protected]
Many thanks for your reply
The old version is in:
http://xda-developers.com/XDArit/old
Please tell us if the old version does work for you...
Bummer Gus...
Works good for me.... Now I just have to figure out how to use it to repair my radio stack...!!!
Another step for mankind, but a huge leap for Todd (aka OldManTod)...
THANK YOU!!!!!
old version work for me to, now i can write SD cards
We'll rework the current version, but read the XDArit page for the warning on the old version:
DO NOT CLICK 'YES' IF IT WARNS YOU'RE ABOUT TO OVERWRITE YOUR HARDDISK, EVEN IF IT LISTS THE SD-CARD AS DISK.
XDARit NT 4 Problem
Hi All,
I wonder if someone can tell me how to fix the XDArit.exe Entry Point Not Found error when trying to run this program under Win NT4.0 SP6?
I'm new to xda-developers.com, but earlier today I tried to update the CE ROM using the official o2 image and despite my USB connection working for ActiveSync, the update program tells me it can't open a USB port and now the PDA is showing only the progress bar screen. From reading your excellent site I guess I need to create an SD boot card to fix the problem, but then ran into the above problem with xdarit !
Please can someone help?
Thanks
Dave

Upgrade error, please help me?

Hi !
I have a problem with upgrading ROM. When I am
upgrading the error message is appeared " Error
Serial/USB port....." something like that. But the
device starts to upgrade with progress bar, and it
does not start yet just appear the upgrade message.
After error message the Program A shutdown itself
without restart to upgrade again. I don't know what to
do? And I unplug it from its cradle and try to
softreset and hardreset. I hope that it will be back
to my windows, but it still shows the upgrade message
and progress bar. And after 2 or 3 hours the screen
become black and white horizontal zebra. How can I
restore to my pocket pc 2002?
Best reguard,
You have to use SD card with a card reader/writer to load the ROM nbf file on the card .. the chances are good that you didn't loose the boot loader
Hope !
It mean my XDA doesn't die yet. I've read this forum for a few days and I found the advice for rescue my XDA, and you show me the key so I'm very happy. The program is XDArit v1.02, and I have MMC 256MB but I didn't buy a Card reader yet. I'm not sure that MMC can do. The instruction in that topic is not clear for me, so would you mind if I need some details for doing this from you.
Thank you in advance,
I didn't use MMC card for ROM flashing before, so I can't confirm it works.
Use XDAtools instead if XDRit. Cope the .nbf file to the SD card then go to the boot loader (soft reset while holding power)
Thank you very much for your reply imediately.
The XDATools that I've downloaded, it doesn't work properly because the message is "Missing RAPI.dll". Where can I get that file?
install activsync
Oh ! I forgot my pc doesn't have ActiveSync. So it was missing. Thank you very much I will install it.

CHECKSUM does not match

Hi there,
I have searched for this problem and found various suggestions involving xdarit etc but none seem to help.
I am getting the above message following a ROM flash, using sd card writen with xdarit. I have tried 3 different roms all producing the same result. Originally tried flashing with a w2003 rom but would be grateful to get anything working!!
The xda will now only show bootloader and some checks.
Wallaby bootloader 5.15
Anyone able to help?
Kind regards
Have you tried another SD-Card? MAybe there is a problem...
Flashed my device about 50 times, and had sometimes (about 2 or 3 times) the same problem.
Reflashing worked then fine...
Stefan
Thanks
I have tried anther sd card with the same result.
FYI I am formating sd cards FAT before writing rom to them
Could I be using the wrong rom?
Kind regards
maybe a corrupt file sometimes files taken from the internet gets damaged on their way to you
Where should I obtain a bog standard rom?

not sure what a bog rom is but here he have many roms
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
bog standard AKA original basic unaltered rom
Thanks for the link, I have been using these roms but will try try again.
Q Should xda be on mains power when flashing or does it make no difference ?
yes it should have power from the cradle or the power connetor
Thanks
I am downloading another rom will try again.
Kind regards
Hi
I have just downloaded a new rom and written to sd with xdarit, flashed and received following message again.
"CHECKSUM is not correct"
Could this have anything to do with the formatting of the sd card?
Anyone have any more suggestions
Kind regards
should not as far as i know iso tool should give the sdcard it's own format which only the xda can read
and of cause the sd card have to be 64MB or over a 32MB card will not do
Hi
I am using 64Mb SD cards.
Just failed again, here's what I did.

Inserted card into xda, got :-
Wallaby Bootloader v5.15 GSM OK screen then:-

Press Action to Download or REC to Exit.
Pressed action and got:-
Please wait for download
PRG 00000000
END 02000000
"Flash Writing"
Followed by :-
Download completed
CheskSum is not correct

What is going wrong?
is that a problem? i remember getting the checksum is not correct problem as well in the end. but after cold reset, the device worked fine. or so it seems to. should i be worried?

Problems after Flashing - XDA1

Hi!
I flashed my O2 XDA // Wallaby 5.15
to WM2003SE.
The first Boot worked, after that, I wanted to switch the language to german, I had to reboot, and from there on, my problems began....
i read about the possibility to re-flash my os with an sd card.
everytime i plugin that card to my notebook, winxp says, i have to format that card.
after that, i tried to copy the nk.nb1 file to this card, with success...
and then, i plugged in that card back to my xda.... nothing happens...
if i press the "contactlist" button ( in bootloader ), i come to some backup modes, but not to read an new os-image from sd card.....
i'm getting crazy :/
can someone help me plz ???
You have to use xdatools to copy the Image to the sd-Card. It is written in a special format. Copying with the explorer is useless for flashing...
HTH
Stefan
i tried this some times....
but do i have to save "NK.nb1" to sd-card (( h:\nk.nb1 )) or in another format ?? for example sd-card image ( *.img ) or *.nbf .... etc
my last try for this evening....
must go to work in some minutes.. ;(
damn night-shift ^^ ( but good thing: nothing to do... just sit there and wait )
Download http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/tools/XDATools.zip unzip it and run osimagetool.
Select the nb1 or nbf file in source and select your card reader with inserted SD-Card as Destination. Press Copy and wait until process has finished.
Insert the card into your xda. If there comes a message to format the card press no or do directly a softreset wirh power button to enter bootloader. Than the image should be recognized ....
HTH
Stefan
doesn't work....
what have i done ? *omg*
if i want to write an image to my sd card, my winxp wants me to format it....
if i do this, the writing works fine, but my xda doesnt recognize the new nb1....
i get no connection to my pc with the cradle ( but there is something being found in windows while my xda is in bootloader mode.... )
hi.
i've read something about problems with winXP, if you want to write a new os to sd card... is that true?
btw. it's still not working....
my pc - sd - card - reader/writer cannot write the file in that way my xda could read it as an new os......
holy ****
i solved the problem i think
the xda os image tool doesnt work with notebook internal sd-card-reader/writer.... or winxp is the problem....
now with win2k3 server it works..... *omg* i'm so happy
thx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that is the problem heard a few times, that the internal card reader made some trouble.
Glad to hear, that your device is working again....
